when doors are locked, either sliding door button on remote will unlock all doors and open sliding door with driver not knowing it leaving interior exposed to weather, thieves, animals and anything else nearby. gm refuses to correct it or even consider a buy back. *nm

the power sliding doors on the buick terazza van continually reopen when they are closed. this is a security issue as on more than one occasion the door has opened as we walked away from the van on a parking lot. the service department claimed they cleaned the contacts and there was nothing wrong with the operation of the doors. this problem of the doors reopening still exists. *jb

CHILD SEAT
dt*: the contact stated while traveling various speeds, the child safety seat's harness buckle was easily unbuckled by the contact's child. the contact notified the place where the safety seat was purchased, who suggested that the nhtsa be contacted. the child safety seat manufacturer was contacted who expressed that there were similar complaints about this issue, and offered to send a replacement harness buckle. the contact expressed concern that the child could easily unlatch the harness buckle, which may pose a safety risk in the event of a collision.

tl* - the contact stated that she filed a complaint with nhtsa last year, and would like to file another. the contact stated that she is still having same problems with her 2006 buick terraza. the contact filed a complaint for 2 components on her vehicle. the first problem is for her sliding door. she stated that when opening the sliding door it stayed open. the contact stated she has had 4 injuries with this door. the contact stated that she has taken the vehicle to dealership for her door not staying opening on at least 5 occasion. the dealership, allen tillery buick gmc stated that this is a manufacturer problem. the contact stated that she has filed a complaint with the manufacture and will submit the file# with the hard copy. the dealership did check out other vehicles on his lot and found that none of the buick terraza have the same failure. the second issues is with her fuel line. she stated that if the vehicle is on a hill and has less than a half of a tank of gas the vehicle will stall. the contact stated that the vehicle has stalled out on an incline on several occasions. the contact stated that the dealership did replace the fuel pump in the summer of 2006 and pressurized the vehicle and was unable to duplicate the failure. the dealership mechanic did inform the contact that this is a characteristic of this vehicle. *nm updated 02/27/07*jb

tl*the contact owns a 2006 buick terraza. while driving 55 mph, the driver side window suddenly cracked and then shattered. the contact pulled the vehicle to the side of the road. he was able to find some plastic to tape up the window and then drove to his residence. he called the dealer and they informed him to call nhtsa and file a complaint. the vehicle has not been repaired. the vin was unknown. the failure mileage was 23,490 and current mileage was 23,800.

it is probably a shorter list to list what we haven't had trouble with , but here goes. 1. the back power sliding doors will open and shut at will. driving down the road, parted in the grocery store parking lot, etc. the neighborhood kids regularly come over to tell me my doors are open. my husband almost missed a flight because he spent to much time trying to fight with the door to stay shut. they have replaced almost every part of the doors several times, but was told by the dealership that last time i took it in they didn't know what to do now. 2. door locks will lock and unlock at will. one day it locked my 1 year old and 3 year old in the van when it was 107. it locked them in from the time it took me to walk from the passenger side to the driver's side. it finally unlocked on its own after not quite 10 min. my children would be dead if it hadn't already been cooled on the inside, but they wouldn't have lasted much longer. the dealership states that they can't duplicate the problem and don't know what to do to correct. 3. noise in steering column. rack and pinion replaced, another repair done. the repairs last about 5 - 10k miles. 4. transmissions slips. they did a reset of something, but transmissions still slips, but the dealership states that the transmission is fine. 5. fuel gauge. it has always floated, was told that was how gm makes their gauges until i took it the last time to the dealership and now they state that it is a fuel sensor, but it is out of factory warranty and they never even looked at it before as they always told me that it was functioning as designed.

2006 buick terraza with goodyear tires. experienced uneven scalloped wear at 12251 miles. dealer could find nothing wrong to cause, replaced tires for free. rotated tires every 3,000 miles faithfully. also had pressure checked with every oil change. again, uneven scalloped wear at 32000. dealer tried to claim my tires were all underinflated by 10psi causing wear. however, only 2 tires show wear, and scalloped wear pattern is not caused by underinflation. dealer service dept. refused to assist in repair or determining why tires are failing so early. service dept. manager also did not return phone calls.

before 46,000 miles both front wheel bearings on my van went bad they went bad within 5 months and 3,000 miles of each other. i noticed it by very loud noises coming from the front of my car. i do normal driving with a mix of freeway and around town. there was no accident, or injuries. dealer replaced wheel bearings under factory warranty. the old parts are not available.

air conditioner and blower fan goes out after two hours on a road trip. have gone to dealer three times with this condition. dealer could not find fix. after 4th dealer visit, dealer stated that the air conditioning unit freezes on long road trips and there is no way to fix this and you have to live with it. essentially the vehicle has no air conditioning after two hours of usage.

the power steering rack failed, making it difficult to control/steer the vehicle at low speeds. i have since heard this referred to as "gm power steering syndrome." it is a common problem of gm cars where the valve in the power steering rack has problems. the power steering fluid cannot get through, particularly at low speeds, making it very difficult to steer. (at higher speeds - when the accelerator is depressed - there is extra pressure forcing the fluid through, so it is a bit easier to steer at higher speeds. the valve failure resulted in failure of the rack, pump, and whole system.

on 10/14/12, i pulled into a residential drive way to turn my vehicle. i was then hit on the passenger side(t-boned) which impacted the middle of my vehicle. however since the force was so hard to entire right side of my vehicle was damaged. the passenger in my vehicle and myself sustained concussions, back and neck injuries. this vehicle was equipped with air bags however neither the front are side airbags deployed in the accident. the police reports states that the truck that struck my vehicle was going 45mph when it crashed into my vehicle. for my car to barley be moving and the rate of speed. of the truck it's my impression that the airbags should have been deployed.

on may 2, 2013, about 10am, i was on my way home. the steering wheel suddenly out of control and my car hit on a car park on the street side with none inside. my car had severe damage and cost about $10,000.00 to fix. the other car i hit on had medium damage. the air bag pop out with a lot of dust and it was flat. a lot dust blow on my face. the air bag had no air at all. it was all flat. the steering wheel had been kind of tight and difficult to turn for three years. i thought it was normal for the big vehicle , so i had not brought attention to the dealer. i request the nhtsa to investigate 2006 buick terraza's steering system. i am sure that something is not quite right in the steering design and manufacturer.

the automatic sliding doors won't colse. it opens up again when the closing slide door touches the frame. this happens every a few days!! very frustrating. and i saw there are 4 or 5 similar compliant reports on this already. so looks like it does happens on a number of vehicles already, not an isolated incident.
