Volvo Cars Fuel Pump Failure

On 2021-06-16 14:16:16

Volvo automobile quality investigators have identified a problem affecting the low pressure fuel pump on certain 2019-2020 S, V and XC vehicles. This problem was first identified at the factory when filling the fuel system. The potential number of vehicles affected by this defect is 85,550.

According to the defect report, after a wake-up/pre-run such as unlocking the vehicle, opening the door, or pushing on the brake pedal; the 15A fuse in the system may blow from an electric current peak when the Engine Control Module (ECM) demands shut off of the Fuel Delivery Module (FDM).

A blown fuse will prevent the low-pressure fuel pump and will lead to stalling. A “No Start” of an internal combustion engine (ICE) will display a Driver Information Module (DIM) message. Plug in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEV) will be able to stop safely or continue to drive as long as the battery charge allows.

Volvo Cars has not received any reports alleging injuries, fatalities or crashes related to this condition.

Vehicles Affected Include
2019-2020 Volvo S60
2019-2020 Volvo S90
