Radiator Fan Motor May Fail and Cause A Coolant Leak

On 2023-01-26 08:33:28

Triumph Motorcycles America (Triumph) will be contacting the owners of certain 2022-2023 Speed Triple RS and 2022-2023 Speed Triple RR motorcycles because of a problem that could cause the radiator fan motor to overheat and fail.

Triumph became aware of the problem in June 2022 when the warranty department observed an increase in warranty claims that required the replacement of the radiator fan motor. Triumph Quality department requests parts back from the field to verify in-service claims and found that under high temperatures, such as slow-moving traffic situations, the maximum operating temperature of the radiator fan could be exceeded. This could lead to a malfunction of the fan motor. If the rider ignores the instrument panel warning light and continues to operate the motorcycle at low speeds, the radiator could overheat and start leaking or spraying hot coolant, increasing the risk of injury or crash.

Dealers will install an additional heat shield that will deflect the heat away from the radiator fan allowing it to run cooler. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on February 1, 2023. Triumph's number for this recall is SRAN 605 and the NHTSA campaign number is 23V-006.

2022 Speed Triple RS and Speed Triple RR motorcycles recalled for brake problems.

In March 2022, Triumph contacted a small number of 2022 Speed Triple RS and Speed Triple RR motorcycle owners, for a problem affecting the brakes on their bikes. According to the defect report, during ongoing testing, Triumph observed a motorcycle with one of the four retaining bolts used to attach the rear brake disc to the rear axle, to be loose. An investigation involving the supplier of the rear axle identified the problem to be caused by an incorrect bolt threading that failed to properly engage and activate the thread locking compound delivered by the mating bolt. If the rear brake disk bolts were to completely fall out, they could get caught in the wheel, preventing it from moving freely.

Dealers will correct the problem by replacing the rear brake disc bolts. Triumph's number for this recall is SRAN 596 and the NHTSA campaign number is 22V-207.
