A newly announced safety defect affects certain 2019–2024 Lamborghini Urus models. Some vehicles could experience a rear view camera which does not display when the vehicle is placed in reverse.

What Is the Issue?

In rare cases, a software-related problem may cause the rear view camera image not to appear when the driver selects "Reverse." This defect means the vehicle may not meet the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 111 – Rear Visibility, which requires all vehicles to display a functional rear view image when backing up.

Without a working camera image, the driver’s ability to see behind the vehicle is significantly reduced - increasing the risk of collisions with pedestrians, property, or other vehicles.

What Causes the Camera Failure?

Although Lamborghini has not identified the precise root cause, the issue is believed to stem from transient signal noise between the control unit and the surround view camera system. In certain rare circumstances, this interference disrupts the data feed from the rear camera, causing the image to fail to display. This is a software-related malfunction, not a hardware failure.

There is no warning message before the failure occurs, although owners may notice the rear view camera image does not display when the vehicle is shifted into Reverse.

How Will Lamborghini Fix It?

Lamborghini dealers will perform a driver assistance software update to restore proper rear view camera functionality.

  • Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed soon.
  • A follow-up notice will be sent once the final software remedy is fully available.

  • Lamborghini recall number: L636-R.01.26

What Should Urus Owners Do?

If you drive a 2019–2024 Lamborghini Urus:

  • Watch for the official recall letter from Lamborghini.
  • Schedule your free software update as soon as it becomes available.
  • If your rear camera is currently failing, use extra caution when reversing and rely on mirrors and physical checks until the update is completed.

Why This Recall Matters

The Lamborghini Urus is a powerful, high-performance SUV with large blind spots — making the rear view camera a vital safety feature. When that image fails, the risk of backing accidents increases dramatically. Lamborghini is addressing the problem with a software update, but owners should act promptly once notified to ensure their vehicle remains safe and compliant.
