Owners of certain  Kia Niro and Sorneto vehicles will be contacted by the manufacturer regarding two separate recalls.  For more information about these defects, owners are asked to contact Kia customer service.

2017-2018 Kia Niro (NHTSA campaign number 18V-666): Some of these vehicles may have been manufactured with a power relay assembly with inadequate connection between the main relay contacts. This increase electrical resistance could generate enough heat to cause thermal damage to the rear seat and a potential fire. Sings that your vehicle may be experiencing this defect include an illuminated HEV warning light and/or the inability to start the vehicle.

2018 Kia Sorento (NHTSA campaign number 18V-656): An improper weld of the bracket between the motor driven power steering (MDPS) and the cowl crossbar could result in the steering column to separate from the cowl crossbar. If this happens, drivers could experience a complete loss of steering control. Drivers who experience a loud clunking noise from the steering column while turning or increased play in the steering should immediately stop driving their vehicle.
