Chevrolet HD Truck ABS Malfunction

On 2020-06-15 11:05:26

General Motors has decided that a defect exists in certain 2019-2020 Chevrolet medium duty trucks which make them fail to comply with the Federal motor vehicle safety standards for hydraulic and electric braking systems.

According to the defect report, a software programming error could result in loss of communication between the body control module (BCM) and the electronic brake control module (EBCM). If this happens the ABS malfunction indicator light (MIL) will not alert the driver when there is a problem and it could increase the risk of a crash and injury.

The Vehicles Affected Include
2019-2020 Chevrolet 4500HD
2019-2020 Chevrolet 5500HD
2019-2020 Chevrolet 6500HD

Owners will be asked to return to their dealerships to update the software calibration for the BCM. GM's number for this recall is N202305070 and the NHTSA campaign number is 20V-319.
