Owners of certain 2011-2015 Dodge Journey crossovers can expect to receive a manufacturer notice regarding a problem affecting the airbag system. The manufacturer reports that some vehicles may experience a trapped steering wheel wire harness between a tab in the steering wheel plastic back cover and the edge of the horn plate. If this happens, the wire insulation could become damaged, creating a short and an inadvertent deployment of the drivers side airbag.

If drivers are experiencing an illuminated airbag warning light, unintended wiper operation, inoperable steering wheel switch, inoperable speed control switch, or inoperable multifunction switch, they should have their vehicle inspected immediately. Dealers will repair damaged wire harness and install a protective cover.
