2019 RAM 2500 & 3500 Brakes Drag

On 2019-09-27 12:16:28

Chrysler will be contacting the owners of certain 2019 RAM 2500 and 3500 trucks because of a problem affecting the front brakes.

According to the defect report, the piston seals may have been assembled with an incorrect lube that could cause them to swell. If this happens, the caliper will not completely disengage when the brake is released and could cause drag in the brakes and overheating of the brake pads, rotor and fluid. Drivers of vehicles experiencing this problem may notice the brakes grabbing and a burning odor.

Dealers will correct the problem by replacing the front brake calipers and brake hoses. FCA number for this recall is V98 and the NHTSA Campaign Number is 19V635000.

Chrysler will also be asking the owners of certain 2019-20120 Jeep Cherokee SUVs to return to their dealers to fix a problem affecting steering.

The steering servo pinion may have been manufactured below hardness specifications and could fracture. If this happens, metal shards could lodge themselves between the teeth of the steering rack, possibly resulting in complete loss of steering.

Owners will be asked to return to their dealers to have the steering gear replaced. Chrysler's number for this recall is V99 and the NHTSA campaign number is 19V637000.
