2022-2025 Chrysler Pacifica and Voyager Airbag Problem

On 2025-06-30 08:40:19

If you own a Chrysler Pacifica or Voyager, your vehicle may be equipped with defective side curtain airbags that could put you and your passengers at risk of injury in the event of a crash. The issue affects certain 2022-2025 model year vehicles, and it's essential to take immediate action to ensure your safety on the road.

The Problem:

The right and left side curtain airbags in these vehicles may have been manufactured with insufficient pressure retention due to improperly sealed seams. This means that they may not comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 226 for ejection mitigation. Specifically, the airbags may not retain sufficient pressure to prevent headform displacement of more than 100 mm, which is a critical safety standard.

Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) Requirements:

FMVSS No. 226 S4.2.1 requires that "When propelled ... into the impact target locations ... the most outboard surface of the ... headform must not displace more than 100 millimeters beyond the zero displacement plane." The suspect airbags in these vehicles may not meet this standard, putting occupants at risk of injury.

Investigation and Recall:

In April 2023, Transport Canada (TC) notified FCA US LLC that compliance testing was taking place, and a potential noncompliance was found. Further testing confirmed the issue, and in September 2024, FCA US opened an investigation into the matter. After reviewing the root cause, supplier manufacturing records, part traceability, and the possible affected vehicle population, FCA US determined that a supplier manufacturing issue existed in certain airbags.

What to Do:

If you own a 2022-2025 Chrysler Pacifica or Voyager, you will be notified by mail on June 30, 2025, about the safety risk associated with this issue. You will be asked to return to your Chrysler dealer to have the airbags inspected and replaced as necessary. A second notice will be sent once the final remedy is available.

Recall Details:

  • Chrysler's recall numbers: 06C, 54C, 55C

  • NHTSA campaign number: 25V-302

  • Interim notification letters will be mailed on June 30, 2025
