Electric Auxiliary Water Pump Failure On BMW, MINI & Rolls Royce Vehicles

On 2018-05-07 12:35:15

BMW is recalling certain BMW, MINI and Rolls Royce vehicles due to an issue with the engine and cooling system. The defect affects the electric auxiliary water pump on MINI models equipped with 4-cylinder turbocharged engines as well as 8 and 12 cylinder turbocharged engines on some BMW and Rolls Royce models.

According to the defect report, a combination of design features and heat from the turbocharger could overheat the water pump's electronic circuit board. If this happens, owners could experience failure of the auxiliary water pump and in extreme cases, an electrical fire in the engine compartment.
