Volkswagen will be contacting the owners of certain 2016-2019 Audi TT Roadster Quattro and 2016-2019 Audi TT Coupe Quattro four wheel drive vehicles because of a problem affecting the fuel system.
According to the defect report, an internal front crash test has revealed that a bracket for the fuel tank heat shield could damage the fuel tank, cause a fuel leak and a potential vehicle fire. This bracket was a common part across the TT model line until May 13, 2019. Audi TT vehicles produced after this date and two wheel drive vehicles are not affected.
Dealers will correct the problem by installing a protective cap on the fuel tank heat shield bracket. Volkswagen's number for this recall is 20BX and the NHTSA campaign number is 20V076.
