attached is letter submitted to toyota 7/22/08 i recently purchased a new 2009 toyota corolla from west herr toyota, orchard park, new york on may 16, 2008. i immediately took a road trip from ny to pa, approximately 6 hours of driving. i am writing to you today to report my dissatisfaction with the front headrests in the toyota corolla. i am an exercise physiologist and have worked many years in the industrial rehabilitation field. i have a previous neck injury from years of doing gymnastics. the current front seat headrests are angled at 35% forward flexion, which may be positive in a crash test to prevent neck injuries, however, it is not conducive for comfortable driving and proper ergonomic for seated positions. by the time i arrived to my final destination in york, pa, my entire right arm was numb and aching. i brought this situation to the attention of my salesman at toyota (bill bitterman) he suggested that i contact your department directly. he also tried to replace the headrests with an older corolla headrest, they do not fit into the anchor holes of the seat. since then, i took the smaller back seat headrest and moved it forward to the drivers seat. it is more comfortable than the previous headrest, but it is looks awkward and is not safe. also, i moved the front headrest to the back, it is too large and causes visibility issues. my request of you is to? #1. consider changing your design for the headrests so they do not forward flex at such a great angle to avoid many additional customer complaints in the future. #2. send two new front headrests for the front seats (gray interior) that fit appropriately and at no charge to me. i am aware of how powerful the ?voice of the customer? is and i hope that you take this letter of concern seriously. i truly do like all aspects of this car, except the front two headrests. shawna r. dosser, ms exercise physiologist & health educator

EXTERIOR LIGHTING

we have a serious nighttime driving visibility condition. the auto manufacturers are now making headlights with plastic lens which tend to darken in a relatively short time thereby inhibiting nighttime driving vision especially for older people who need more light than a younger driver. it in my opinion should not be tolerated. the manufacturers should be compelled to go back to glass lenses for safety reasons.

vehicle stalling when making a quick deceleration from over 40mph to 15mph or to a complete stop. engine dies, check engine light comes on, and electrical continues to function. car restarts with no problem. this has occurred 2ce in the past 2 days, once the engine was cold, within 2 miles of start, the other occurred when engine was warm after driving 10 miles on highway, and slowing down quickly to pass through electronic toll booth. toyota dealer checked vehicle, could not duplicate, nor did the system store any codes or event conditions.

car parked on dry, level surface. driver started car normally, put foot on brake, shifted into reverse to leave parking spot, eased onto the gas, and the car went forward. stopped the car, double checked the gear shift was firmly in reverse, eased on gas again and, once again, car went forward. this forward lurch drug the bottom of the car over a concrete barrier. car stopped to inspect damage. when car started again, everything functioned normally.

the windshield on our 2009 toyota corolla cracked while driving down the highway with no other vehicle near by. the crack quickly spread across the windshield. two auto glass companies confirmed that it was a stress fracture cause by the manufacturer. toyota is refusing to accept the blame and replace the windshield under warranty.

tl*the contact owns a 2009 toyota corolla. immediately after purchasing the vehicle, the contact noticed that the headrest positions her head at a downward angle, which causes neck pain. the dealer attempted to adjust the headrest, but was unsuccessful. the contact was informed that she could actually turn the headrest backwards; however, this was not recommended. the manufacturer stated that the headrests were designed in that manner. the contact decided to turn the headrest in the backward position so that she would not be in pain while driving. the vin was unknown. the current mileage was 1,080 and failure mileage was 630.

i was driving straight on the mass pike in framingham, ma, and my car began to lose control. i neither hit anything nor did i lose control of the car. the brakes stopped working and i could not turn the steering wheel. this resulted in my car swerving out of control, hitting the barrier and flipping over. my car landed directly on top of 2 of the 6 air bags i have in my car, and not one airbag deployed after barrel rolling my car. my car is now totaled and i am undergoing physical therapy for severe whiplash to my back and neck. my insurance company has considered the accident a human error, yet i did nothing to cause the accident. my friend who has been a car mechanic for over 20 years feels that it was a mechanical flaw on the vehicle, and does not see how the accident could have been caused by me. i would like to talk to someone regarding a possible manufacturer's error on my new but totaled 09 toyota corolla.

tl*the contact owns a 2009 toyota corolla. the contact stated that the clutch and brake pedals are so close together that his feet become tangled, and he loses control of the vehicle. the failure has occurred on august 15, 30, and september 15, 2008 while driving 40 mph. he stated that the manufacturer needs to move the clutch pedal approximately 1 to 2 inches to the left away from the brake pedal in order to avoid depressing both pedals simultaneously. the vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealer. the manufacturer will inspect the vehicle on september 25, 2008. the contact stated that manual transmission vehicles should have a shift pattern around the stick shift for correct shifting. he feels it is easy to miss fifth gear and shift into third gear by mistake. the failure mileage was 3,000 and current mileage was 7,000.

bought brand new (3miles) corolla le on friday, jan 2, 2009. on jan 5, while making a turn into a parking lot, the car completely "froze": no steering, no acceleration, no braking possible. all dashboard lights came on. i came to a stop (luckily, the parking lot was semi-empty); turned off the ignition, restarted the car. all dashboard lights were off- but the "check engine" stayed on. called the dealer who recommended bringing the car to service for a check. drove there (7 miles)- the "check engine" light remained on the whole time. the mechanic said that "the engine light doesn't come on". was given the car back (after road test by the mechanic and, presumably, a computerized check) and told that "there is nothing wrong with the car". feel completely unsafe driving the vehicle now.

2009 toyota corolla le driver's side rearview mirror has significant distortion and does not present a clear view of the road behind. very difficult, especially at night, to judge where vehicles are. mirror appears to be slightly concave. called dealership, was told this was an intentional "magnification" feature. per 49 cfr 571.111, drivers side mirrors on cars sold in the us must have unit magnification, i.e. they must be flat. i cannot find any exemption for toyota. dealership claims it is impossible to repair this problem.

while driving on expressway and roads the vehicle will make a sudden surprise pull to the left or right randomly. one thing to note when turning any corner the steering wheel won't recover straight as if it forgot i turned. the car is less than a week old. notice the dangerous problem on my first trip on the interstate. i look it back for service the next day. for 2 days toyota service checked alignment and drove it. they find the steering wheel in tolerance. scotty said it's normal for this type of new electric steering. you must keep both hands on steering wheel or it will steer out of assign lane. after a 2nd trip in a week of owning this car decided to test drive a different 2009 toyota corolla and drove just fine. i only wished mine would have drove straight.

i ordered a newly-designed 2009 toyota corolla xle from a local dealership. it arrived in august, 2009. the dealership had no xle models on the lot, so a test drive was not possible. after the car arrived, i noticed that the car was pulling independently on the road to the left without just cause. i thought maybe i should have the dealership check the tires/steering/ or alignment on my next visit. as the weather became more rainy in the fall, i noticed that the car kept feeling as though it was not holding the road safely-- particularly at turnpike speed. i live relatively close to the elementary school where i teach, so i do not have to usually drive the turnpike, but when i did--the car 's steering or tires ?? felt out of control. then i noticed that the tire sensor came on and i saw that i had a flat tire when i was at school. the dealership came and towed the car in to the shop. they patched it. i thought maybe that would correct the problem, but the sensor kept coming on and going off. i went back to the dealership, explaining the car was pulling to the left and i thought maybe the steering or tires were not working. they worked on it again and i bought a new tire from the dealership and they balanced, aligned, etc. and i paid for it. then it snowed and i noticed that the slightest amount of snow increased the unsafe feeling of not having steering control. i have tires that are bridgestone/turanza tires that are rated m/s that came with the car plus the new tire they replaced is the same kind. please know that we have owned another toyota for 12 years and nothing like this happened. i am scared to drive this car. i feel unsafe.

i purchased a 2009 toyota corolla last year and have 8,000 miles on the vehicle at present. winter is tough in buffalo, ny so i use the windshield washer every day. there is a design flaw in that when the car is stationary the washer mechanism works fine but when traveling from 30mph and up, the washer mechanism causes the fluid to hit the windshield very low even under the wiper blades and fluid runs up the windshield forcing the driver to turn on the wipers numerous times to clear the windshield for minutes after spraying the washer fluid. the washer mechanism is not adjustable being mounted under the hood so replacing them would be a waste of time. i have an appt. at the dealer where i purchased the car next saturday to show them.

i have had my 2009 corolla for only a week and the first time i drove this car on the highway i noticed the car would sway to the left and to the right making it hard to keep the car straight. i thought maybe this steering issue was in my head, but after reading other peoples complaints i just feel mad. i have never driven a car with this type of problem and i have driven many cars. you literally take your eye off the road for a second and you are drifting into another lane. this isn't just an issue of annoyance, this is a safety issue and somebody could possibly get killed. if toyota doesn't start a recall on this issue, there top selling car's record of unsurpassed reliability could be tarnished!

one major flaw: twitchy power steering it?s similar to others on the internet blogs ? after about 30 minutes it?s as if i am trying to balance my steering on a ball. the steering wants to move off center to the left or right. by steering into oncoming lane or traffic. i reminds me as a kid; turning my bike handle bars 180 degrees (backwards)and steering forward. you can do it but you must keep both hands and fight the steering.

i purchased my 2009 toyota corolla in october 2008 and returned to my dealer within two weeks with concerns about the steering at highway speeds -- 50-60 mph. my salesperson drove the car with me and told me that the steering was very sensitive, that i was used to driving a heavier rav4 with stability control but that nothing seemed amiss with this vehicle. over the course of the last four months, the issue continues and when the roads are slick or when the wind blows the problem increases tenfold. i live in a part of the country where wind is inevitable and ice/snow can be issues. i have contacted the dealer twice to try to trade the corolla in on a safer vehicle but since it is a new car, i cannot recover the depreciation to make the trade at this time.

trunk lid on toyota corolla uses torsion bars for support. however in the full up position( 90 degree) to about almost closed ( 30 degree) the weight is not counter balanced . in the full up position it is prone to fall when the car is parked facing up hill on a slope as slight as 10 degrees common in parking lots for rain runoff. any wind or placing a bag of canned goods in the trunk causes it to fall striking the owner in the head ,neck or shoulders. this is happening multiple times a week as i use the trunk daily since the day i purchased the vehicle in late december 2008. my other vehicle ( 1993 ford taurus) also uses torsion bars but even though it is a much heavier trunk lid it is stable in all positions from just open to fully open ( 90 degree- straight up). i have complained to toyota and they are not responsive. i have been hit by this trunk lid numerous times as i use the trunk on a daily basis. as an male adult i have not been seriously injured yet but i believe this poses serious risk of injury for women and children. this trunk lid and torsion bar system is poorly designed and has the potential for serious injury. the force is sufficient that one occasion it caused a bleeding cut to my scalp upon impact. the dealer in late january added a small extension arm that connects to the torsion bars but this had no benefit.

at speeds over 50 mph, the steering is way too sensitive causing over-correction. toyota claims nothing is wrong but this is cause for concern and should be able to be eliminated/adjusted by a software update.

i purchased a new 2009 toyota corolla on march 16, 2009. the eps steering causes the car not to run in a straight line. at highway speeds it pulls strongly to the right. to correct the steering causes the need for constant input to correct the steering as the car wanders off of a straight line constantly. the steering input is not precise and the car seems to steer off of a straight line. if not corrected, the car pulls right. due to this condition, i checked tire pressure. from the dealer, the front tires were well over the prescribed 30 pounds and the rear tires were well under. it appears that there was an attempt to compensate for the steering issues and mask the problem. with correct tire pressure, the problem is worsened.

i picked up my new 2009 toyota corolla on 3-5-2009. the more i drove it the more i noticed that the steering wandered. while trying to drive straight, the car goes left and right, almost like there is a strong cross-wind, but there isn't any wind. it is very difficult to drive on the interstate and stay between the white lines. you have to keep two hands on the wheel at all times and continually make steering corrections to avoid jumping into the other lanes or off the side of the road. i took it back to the dealer to have it checked and they said it worked just fine. i told him no, that it does not work just fine and insisted somebody else look at it. he had me go along with his head mechanic, and the mechanic said something was wrong, suggesting that the pinion gear had too much "preload" . they kept the car and replaced the steering. after i picked up the car, it seemed better at first, but then it returned to the same problem with the wandering after driving a few hundred miles. this is a very dangerous problem in my opinion and needs some serious followup. i'm taking the car back as soon as i can arrange for other transportation. help!

i purchased a 2009 toyota corolla le in early december 2008. much like my 1999 toyota corolla le, it cannot hold the road above 50 to 55 miles per hour. the vehicle still is under 2000 miles on it and we just came back from a 1500 mile trip to several states. here in nc, the speed limit is 70 mph on many highways. i'm in the car everyone else is passing, because my toyota corolla swerves to either the right or left requiring constant correction as if one was driving through a hurricane, even though it's not windy. when it is windy, it's dangerous to go over 45. my 34 year old son, a mechanical engineer, refuses to drive the car when he visits, due to the instability of either car's steering issues.

when the speed goes over 60-65 mph, the car tends to be pulled to different directions, wobbling and making me feel very unsafe to drive. even if i'm holding the steering wheel firmly and steadily, the car would be pulled to right side, then next moment to left side.

i recently traded a 2007 corolla sport because of steering difficulties that i thought resulted from 2 tires simultaneously going flat on the interstate at 70 mph. these tires had been installed by a local toyota dealership. they had neglected to replace the valve stems. since that incident i felt that the steering was "off." i took it to several dealerships and they all said the steering was fine. i decided to trade it for a 2009 toyota xle. i just bought it last thursday. the more i drive it, the more i notice that the steering is way off also! the car drifts in left/right directions with total unpredictability. it's like driving a roller skate or a skate board. it feels very dangerous. now i'm not sure what to do. i did not purchase the 2009 i drove originally. they sold me one of f"the truck" that already had a sun roof in it, instead of installing one. i'm not sure what to do next. it's very scary!

check engine light came on. took to dealership for repair on apr. 18, 2009. mechanic determined it was a computer failure. computer replaced. check engine light back on the same day computer was replaced. mechanic placed call to toyota technical assistance. he was advised to try replacing wiring harness. check engine still on after repair. tech. assistance then said to try replacing fuel injector. light still on. toyota has called in a field rep to assess the situation. vehicle has been at the dealership for 12 days now and they do not know what is wrong. the computer is not registering any error codes.

i purchased a 2009 toyota corolla, a car that just about killed us. this car wonders from one side of the road to the other. when you go past 55mph the car becomes uncontrollably. i took this car back to the car dealer and they said everything on the car was fine but still the problem continues. went back a second time and had customer service manager drive the car and she said the car's steering was out of control and something was definitely wrong with the car, also the service technician said there was a problem with the car. dealer said the could not do anything about the problem. i called toyota head quarters and they said the could not do anything about it. some one is going to be killed in these car's. i believe it has to do with the electronic steering. my advise follow your lemon law per state. don't give up....

our 2007 toyota corolla has a failure in the air conditioning system. after the winter, the a/c was turned on and it would not cool. freon was put into the system and it cooled down again. however, a hissing noise was coming from the car after putting in the freon. turns out there is a leak in the air conditioner's condenser. the tsb on the 2003 - 3005 corolla indicated there was a problem with the air conditioning system. supposedly, toyota corrected this problem on future corolla's, but evidently there is still a problem with it. we are having the condenser replaced.

in my 2009 toyota corolla ce the steering wheel will not remain straight when driving and lightly holding the steering wheel, the electronic steering wants to pull the car left or right, and you must hold a tight grip on the wheel at any speed to prevent the car from crashing itself left or right. gave me a good scare when it seems to pull itself away from the road even with hands on the wheel. this is a ce model.

we bought a 2009 toyota corolla in oct of 2008. noticed the touchy steering, but was told that was normal by the toyota dealership. my daughter was driving it on a side street in huntington, wv when she hit a pot hole or a manhole traveling at about 15 to 20 mph. the steering locked up and she hit a parked car. it broke the abs wiring harness and caused $10,994.79 damage to car. we then found out that the tires were bald at 15,000 miles and the brakes were very thin. toyota had just service the car at 13,000 miles and did not tell me the tires or the brakes were bad. we do not know exactly what caused the steering to lock up. the repair shop could not tell us either due to the extensive damage.

2009 toyota corolla with 9000 miles purchased new. had routine oil change and tires rotated may 2009. inspector advised that all 4 firestone tires showed only 4/32 tread depth and all should be replaced soon. notified toyota online and they declined any adjustment. they indicated that neither toyota nor firestone guaranteed the tire would last for any months at all with respect to oem tires on new cars. i returned to toyota dealer in elmira ny---kent brown--and service manager called toyota hq via phone. somebody approved replacement of all 4 tires at no cost to me. tires were replaced by dealer kent brown and they also performed an alignment check which dealer said was fine. i also talked to firestone dealer prior to kent brown adjustment and that dealer advised me that their tire was probably the wrong tire for that year and make of toyota. i had the feeling that if kent brown would not have replaced the 4 tires that firestone might have done something for me. cost unknown!!!?? this is my 2nd new toyota from same dealer. i find it strange that toyota hq denied me but somebody approved the replacement. i doubt the dealer would have replaced the dealers if toyota hq also denied the dealer. yokohoma tires were installed on my car and seem to be fine.

i just purchased a 2009 toyota corolla le. i have previously owned a 1993 and a 2003 corolla. the steering and handling were great in the 1993 and 2003 models. this new electronic steering in the 2009 model is scary. at high speeds and in windy conditions the car goes all over the road. on highways with grooved pavement the car jerks from side to side requiring constant correction of the steering. toyota needs to be made to correct this problem. i have heard that new car dealers were increasing the tire pressure to 40 psi when the car was driven off of the lot to help cover up this problem. sure enough when i checked the pressure in the tires it was at 40 psi. thirty psi is the recommended pressure. i have driven many thousands of miles and this is the first car i have owned that i feel unsafe in at any time i have driven it.

purchased a new 2009 corolla s about 3 months ago from the local dealer in ardmore, ok. there is a steering problem with the new electronic power steering system on their models now. the driver has to make a constant adjustment in steering the auto to prevent it from constantly veering left or right as you drive on city streets or major highways. i met with the factory rep from toyota and he states that this problem is created by the new design of their steering system with 0% variance for error. a master toyota mechanic checked out the auto and attempted to make adjustment to correct, a case has been assigned by their service department stating that the steering is very oversensative. a case has also been filed with toyota customer service. my problem still exists i have a new corolla s parked in my garage with less than 400 miles on it due to the safety issue of driving this auto.

the new 2009 toyota corolla has a steering problem. on a highway going faster than 60 mph, it is very difficult to keep the vehicle within the lane. if it deviates (which is normal) and a correction is made, the car over-reacts and the vehicle veers to the other side of the lane. another correction puts the vehicle back to the other side. so the vehicle moves side to side. straight line travel can be accomplished only with both hand firmly on the wheel and fixing you eyes on the road. the danger is when you are distracted, such as looking in the rear view mirror, adjusting the rear view mirror, changing a radio station, reaching for sun glassed, etc. then the car heads out of the lane as a result of a continued steering adjustment. the dealers and manufacturer claim that this is normal because of the new feature, electronic power steering. however, the 2010 corolla has another standard feature (which is optional for the 2009): electronic stability control. my 2009 does not have this feature and i was never told of its possible benefit to the steering.

we have taken in our corolla (purchased in january 09) to the dealer twice for the electronic power steering (eps) problem. the car is very difficult to drive on the highways. it refused to keep a straight line and we constantly have to over correct to keep a straight line on a flat road (driving on ice or in high winds comes to mind). we have noticed that even at slow speeds in parking lots that if the wheels are turned and the steering wheel moves back to center the wheels will not straighten up and you have the turn the wheel in the opposite direct to correct the wheels. the dealership has performed an alignment and they replace the steering rack. the issue has not gone away and they found that testing three other corollas on the lot all have the same eps problem and they are stumped. they have filed a tech case with toyota about the eps issue. i have also opened a complaint ticket with toyota tms in california 1-800-331-4331. they have been in contact with us and a toyota representative is going to inspect the car next week. if they are unable/unwilling to give us a resolution we are going to contact a nc lemon law lawyer. we just want the car to function correctly and free it is an accident waiting to happen. my wife is sick of driving it and has moved back to our older 2004 corolla. it makes me sick knowing how much we paid for this 2009 xle!

(the wheel alignment did not correct the problem.) i don't know how he could say there wasn't a problem when the car wanted to go off the road. i complained to the dealer a number of times. they said there is nothing they could do about it. i asked them to check and or replace the electronic power steering unit. (eps) they would not even check it. i sent email and talked to a representative at toyota headquarters. i explained the problem. they said there isn't anything they can do about it. they will not even admit there is a problem. my concern is... if there is a problem with the electronic power steering (eps) that lets the car go off course, this could keep getting worse and i would loose control of the car. thank you for looking into this problem.

toyota motor north america, inc. is has issued a recall for the model year 2008-2009 scion xd and 2009-2010 corolla, corolla matrix, and pontiac vibe vehicles equipped with a 1.8l engine and originally sold in or currently registered in certain states. my concern is for those like myself who purchased the vehicle and or has the vehicle registered in a state that is not part of the recall. what if i drive the vehicle to a state listed in the recall. also, under harsh conditions certain parts of my state can have these �low ambient temperatures�. according to the nhtsa campaign id number 09v338000, the consequence of this defect is that �this could lead to an increase in vehicle stopping distance and a crash could occur�. a summary of the defect is �when driving under certain unique conditions in extremely low ambient temperatures, the intake manifold suction port for the brake vacuum can become locked due to the freezing of condensation resulting from positive crankcase ventilation�. the remedy is �dealers will install a newly designed intake air connector which will relocate the brake system vacuum port. in summary, it would seem logical to me that toyota would fix this issue for all vehicles affected by the recall, not just based upon location of purchase and or registration. this appears to be a cost savings measure versus actually being concerned about its customer�s safety. what corrective actions can be taken?

dear sirs, i had a mechanical failure caused vehicle collision where two safety hazards should call public alert. on aug. 24, 2009 as i traveled on highway 93 south, i saw the vehicle in front of me took a sudden slow-down or stop, about 30 feet in distance, even as i floored the brake pedal, my 2009 toyota corolla did not have any brake function at all, even not a resistance force at the pedal. my vehicle reared another vehicle inside the tunnel of 93 south, under normal travel situation: road surface and lighting. and then before the deployed airbag from the driving column could have blocked my body movement forward , it exploded, the inside of my vehicle filled with smoke and funny smells. fortunately, nobody got serious injured in the collision. since my corolla is a new car under 4900 miles, this was the only time i experience the sudden mechanical failures. my insurance company, metropolitan property, has inspected the vehicle, but did not specify any mechanical failures. toyota north america also had their personnel inspected the vehicle upon received my report to them, but they may not take any responsibility to pass the information to the public, as there is also liability issue within. so far no repair work has been done to the vehicle, yet. the simultaneous failures of both brakes and airbag could be very serious safety hazards, please take note of this case and make it available to the public. if possible, i would appreciate it if you could, or let some third-party mechanic to, have my vehicle inspected. thanks.

i bought a toyota corolla march 2009 ,on about sept. 1, 2009 i was driving around palos verdes i saw donald trupm's golf course.so i pulled in and drove through the drop off area and ask the guy that was out there for a flyer and he gave me one and them i went to the stop sign to leave. i was pulling out and i saw a small truck coming so i jumped on the accelerator to get ahead of truck and when i let up on the accelerator the car didn't slow down.i then had to push on my brakes as hard as i could while pulling on the strewing whelelreally hard to help me push the brake pedal real hard.the car would not stop running fast it got stuck in passing gear mold and won't stop from really racing the engine.! was real lucky there was a place to pull of the road,so i pulled into a small parking area and put the car into park,i turned the key off and them i stared the car again and it was still racing the engine really really fast. so i turned the key off again and i didn't know what to do.i didn't want to drive down the hills in palos verdes because that was really scary and i think that if i wasn't use to being around car's with my x-husband a lot,like pulling car's with a rope to start them and then slamming on the brake when it started to keep from running into the car that was towing me..some other people could panic and have a really bad accident. so any way i had a friend with me and i opened the hood and ask her to get into the drivers sit to pump on the gas peddle i tried to see were the linkage was to see if i could do something to stop the motor from racing.i could not see where the linkage was and i didn't want take the cover of the motor because i haven't done that on newer car's.so igot back into the drivers seat and got my purse out to call the automobile club but before i did that i thought i would try starting the car one more time and it was o.k. i took the car to toyota to check it they couldn't get to do the same thing and tried to blame it on the carpet.

2009 toyota corolla drifts and wanders at highway speeds. requires deliberate and distracting focus to keep car in its lane. alignment was checked and found to be correct. dealer indicated many owners have brought their cars in for this issue but there is nothing that can be done, that it is the design of the electric power steering. contacted toyota customer assistance center at 1-800-331-4331. case manager indicated that this was the design and that if a safety issue was found, a recall would be issued, but at this time there is nothing that can be done. believe there is a safety concern due to car's highway behavior and due to driver distraction; a car drifting around the road will be more likely to be in an accident, and a driver focused on keeping the car in its lane will be less focused on hazards that may develop in their path.

recently i received a recall on my '09 toyota corolla stating there was a potential problem with the brake system vacuum port. the recall says if my vehicle is operated in extremely low temperatures, there is a possibility that condensed moisture may freeze causing a potential risk of brake failure leading to an increased risk of a crash. i live in upstate new york where the temperatures drop to freezing and below this time of year. as soon as i received this notice, i called the dealer i purchased my corolla from to make an appointment to correct this potential problem. after a good 5 minutes of being put on hold, a representative picked up and nicely asked what she could do for me. i described the recall and was put on hold again. another 4-5 minutes past and then she picked up to tell me that the service department would call me back when they weren't so busy. i am at retirement age and can't risk having an accident. the toyota dealers name is kent brown toyota in big flats, new york. i'm not even sure you people are the right people to contact but if you are your help would be appreciated.

as an owner of a 2009 toyota corolla, i am very concerned about a recall for brake failure by toyota that is limited to certain states based on winter temperatures. brakes may fail at very low temperatures. i live in maryland, and maryland is not one of the states listed in the recall. i do not know how toyota arrived at which states are cold and which are not. but i have two serious objections to the state restriction. 1. while some winters are mild in maryland, others are not. for instance, last winter was very cold. i have the heating bills to prove it. 2. but by far, my most serious objection should be obvious to anyone. the whole purpose of a car is to travel. even if you live in florida and own one of the recalled vehicles, does this mean you can not drive to minnesota to spend several weeks to visit family over the holidays? does this mean i can't drive to upstate new york this winter for a vacation as i have planned? a car is not a house. it is very rare that a house moves from state to state while it is very very common that cars do. looking at the various state tags on the interstate 95 will confirm this. therefore, i am very concerned about the state limitation on this recall - particularly because it involves something as serious as possible brake failure.

there is a steering problem with my 2009 toyota corolla with electronic power steering that i believe is extremely dangerous. i purchased the car new in 8/08. the straight line stability of this car is terrible at speeds greater than 50mph. this problem has continued since the car was new. it drifts and wanders at highway speeds as if it is being buffeted by high winds when no such condition exists. it requires deliberate and distracting focus to keep car in its lane. the car goes off course with the slightest movement of the steering wheel. it does not seem to have any neutral steering position, you have to constantly correct the steering to keep the car in lane.. if you take your eye off the road for a second the car will drift into another lane. certain road conditions, such as worn or troughed, (gullied?) pavement as well as increased windy conditions make the car almost impossible to drive. then you have to grip the steering wheel with both hands in an attempt to keep the vehicle traveling straight. according to toyota my car is in perfect shape. all steering tolerances are correct. the tire pressure has been monitored and maintained at 30lbs as is recommended by toyota since the car was new.

my daughter lost control of her 2009 toyota corolla while traveling on a wet road at a low speed. she stated that the car pulled to the right and then spun around in 3 tight long circles before spinning out. had noticed what seemed like a looseness in the steering about 2 weeks before, but because i do not drive it on a regular basis was concerned if it was normal or not. i was concerned that the steering may have played a role in the accident and when researched online if any known issues, i was surprised to learn of a # of individual experiences and concerns similar to mine...all within a few months of the start of 2009. there were many postings regarding the steering in the toyota 2009 corolla. i was equally concerned to learn that there is a new power steering system in the 2009 model that is different than that of prior years. my daughter ended up going behind a guardrail and down an embankment and i feel obligated to file a complaint over my concern relating to the steering in the 2009 corolla. the postings include that toyota could not find a problem, but not being able to find the problem does not mean it doesn't exist. recent news events include that toyota also denied having a turn-over problem with another of their vehicles. when we purchased the vehicle it had approx. 10,000 miles on it and at the time of the accident it had 13,876.

we were driving the freeway with the cruise control on. we went up a very small incline and the cruise adjusted. however the cruise would not readjust at the top of the incline and continued to gain speed. my husband tried to brake, to no avail, just increases in speed(act. speed unknown).finally, a break in traffic, shifted to neutral and guided the car to an exit. turned off car, turned back on and engine still racing, finally on next try went to normal. i have not used the cruise since. but hearing of other toyotas with sua, i'm wondering if this is the same even though corollas are not mentioned. without a break in traffic, i'm convinced there could have been serious consequences to this incident. contacted toyota and they checked the car with no conclusion to the cause of the event. the mat did not appear to be a cause of the event. we assumed that it was the cruise control because it was the first time we used it . the cruise had been engaged for at least 50 miles before the event. this was a terrifying event for my husband who is normally very calm and myself.

as an owner of 2009 corolla i'm very concerned about recall for brake failure in extremely low temperatures. toyota has limited its recall and repair of this problem only to certain states. i live in nw indiana, less than 4 miles from illinois state line. illinois owners will have their brakes fixed; indiana is not on the list. toyota?s state restriction does not make any sense. nw indiana has the same weather as chicago, il and the same extreme low temperatures. additionally, i conduct a huge portion of my business and personal matters in the state of illinois. i will have to drive my car knowing that brakes can fail on me on any given day with the extreme low temperatures (and we have months of such days ahead). how is toyota allowed to discriminate between states without just cause? we all have a right to drive safe vehicles. what can be done to enforce toyota to correct this problem?

2009 toyota corolla, "s" automatic transmission. the problem was initially identified by me when my car would not catch while on a slope in drive. the transmission would roll back. the dealership said this was normal due to a loss of pressure, however it would do it even if i barley stopped on a gradual incline for a few seconds. this has caused me to roll back unless i had one foot on the brake and one foot on the gas while to keep me steady to start. this happened at from the time i purchased the car. recently, i my engine has been running really rough and winding at a high pitch while driving. it now intermittently goes between gears and downshifts automatically into gears that are not appropriate for the speeds traveling. this causes a drastic down speed, and example is i will be on the freeway traveling speeds between 50-65 and it will downshift and reduce my speed to 40 mph or less, then i will try to accelerate and it will redline out, as if i am in neutral and i will have no control to regain speed until it automatically pushes itself back into gear, and then increases my speed at a rapid pace, without me putting my foot on the gas. at this point, i am required to place my foot on the brake to control my speeds. the dealership has taken my car back twice and claimed to have fixed it twice based on the reads, but i have had the same problem. the reads on the computer will say that it is an electrical malfunction... however they can not identify where the malfunction is coming from. parts have not been replaced and no repairs have been made to fix this at this time. toyota is not assisting with the recall and i am left with lots of shop hours. thinking about registering for the lemon law about my car, i drive apx. 1000 miles week and my car is not saving, consistent, and is a safety issue since have no control while my car malfunctions. i can only react to what is happening. it also makes a loud clunking sound, and a high winding sound when redlining.

i purchased a 2009 toyota corolla in november 2009. i had issues with the brakes slipping to the floor 2 weeks after purchase. this would happen when i would try to slow the car down or come to a stop. it happened sporadically. i had many near collisions and went off the road into snowbanks several times to avoid hitting other cars. toyota kept saying nothing is wrong with the car after checking the brakes. in september, i took the car in for the hydraulic service brake recall. this did not fix the problem. on december 8 & 9 the brakes went to the floor twice when i tried to stop at stop signs. i almost got killed avoiding other cars at intersections. once again, the dealership tried to duplicate the situation and found nothing wrong with the car. i told them i am terrified to drive an unsafe car which will end up crashing at some point from a faulty brake system. they said they can not do anything. i said the recall part is not effective and the consumers need to be aware. all i asked for was a new corolla and i would continue all my payments. i do not want to drive an unsafe car on the road (nor should other toyota owners). the dealership is in burlington vermont.

i have a 2009 toyota corolla xrs and living in northern canada. during extreme temperatures in the -30 and above while driving at 50 km/hr or higher clutch pedal will stiffen to the point that at sometimes it will hesitate to return to position and will pop back and clutch not engaging right away causing slippage at that point. i have also noticed that the brake pedal stiffens during this time, i know that the clutch and brake are on the same hydraulic system. clutch pedal will begin to loosen when driving in traffic or stopped for extended periods idling, as i believe this is because there's not much cold air blowing through the front of vehicle at slow speeds as it's warming the slave cylinder. as it was doing this at one point i pulled over and checked the temperature of the slave cylinder and it was extremely cold to touch. i am concerned that this could lead to premature clutch failure or even worse an accident. i have reported this to my local dealer and there are going to investigate it further.

i was driving 15 mph in 33 degree temp. i gave it a little gas at the bottom of a small hill and my car went in to a fish tail. i corrected this about 6 times before i could not recover. my car hit the ditch on the passenger side and flipped on it's roof. prior to the accident my wheel would almost take control of the car between above 30 mph. the car would swerve all over my lane. i thought this was just me, now i see many others have this problem also. question being..... could the alignment be off enough from the eps problems that it could have made it possible that my car would not have been recoverable from? i would like toyota to look in to this to determine the problem before another family of 5 ends up upside down in a ditch.

first - my 2009 corolla feels like it doesn't grip the road. i live in florida and it feels like i'm driving on ice when i go pass 40. it hydroplanes on dry roads. second - in order for me to come to a complete stop i need to start pressing the break all the way down from like a mile back. third - on one occasion, and thankfully this only happened once, my accelerator came up slowly. what i mean is that after i let go of the accelerator, rather than the pedal coming up instantly it came up very slow. in general i don't feel safe driving this car and it's a shame because it's the car i want.*cw

2009 toyota corolla - gas pedal sticking problem while on the family driveway traveling at about 5 miles per hour, car rapidly accelerated forward after i removed my foot from the gas pedal. pushing the brake down as hard as i could the car continued traveling forward crashing into my daughter's car, then pushing her car through the right side of the garage door & through the house wall completely damaging my daughter's car (totaled) destroying the garage door while smashing down that portion of the house wall. and then further inside colliding into a large dryer & washing finally coming to rest against an inside house wall beam & concrete. my daughter was almost hit as she was on the other side of the wall when the cars crashed through. we've always maintained that it was toyota's fault as it was without question, a case of unintended acceleration--the car rapidly accelerated forward on its own, but toyota insisted it was not the cause of their car. toyota, at my cost and our insurance company, state farm, made all the repairs to the car--toyota refused to take liability for involvement with the cause of the accident. so there we were, who could refute mighty toyota�they were the premier car company & they made almost perfect cars. obviously with their 2nd recall in a matter of months that image has now been somewhat dispelled. in speaking with toyota today i was advised that my corolla would not be included in their recall as i was advised that the pedal assembly in my car was manufactured in japan by nipo-denso and not the pedal assembly involved with the so-called sticking gas pedal problem, as that assembly, was manufactured in the united states by cts. while i appreciate what toyota stated about different assemblies, i can state unequivocally my car accelerated forward even though i was pressing the brake pedal the hold time while the car raced forward.no one incurs such damage pressing the brakes. i would ask for your review and comments *cn

okay enough is enough. i drove on interstate 75 today in florida speed limit is 70mph. i was going between 65-70 and i came inches to hitting an 18wheeler, thankfully in my attempt to control the steering i slightly veered to the right and of course the corolla veered a lot more to the right than i intended but at least there were no vehicles in that lane. god was with me. i am aware of my car's steering issue but i cannot drive at 30mph on a highway. keeping the steering straight is a task all on its own. i'm focusing on the car not veering into another lane and causing a fatal accident when i should be focusing on the road and driving in a normal state rather then a panicky one. i drive this highway everyday and i have been close many times to hitting other vehicles. i really need this to be investigated i am becoming more and more scared every day on my drive to work. driving in that state of mind is not safe. i'm considering my states lemon law petition program because its obvious that toyota either doesn't care or probably to busy fixing their other flaws. i'm through with toyota i just want them to take back their corolla i can care less about the payments i've made. they need to take their car void my loan because i rather walk and have my life than play russian rullet in that car. this is an everyday incident. and although not physically injured, i am developing a fear of driving with this car on the highway. this is crazy. i am only 25 i shouldn't be frightened of driving my 2009 corolla. tw*

tl*the contact owns a 2009 toyota corolla. the contact noticed a grinding noise most of the time when she depressed the brake pedal. she took the vehicle to the dealer who stated that they could not find anything wrong with it. the failure continued to occur and the dealer turned the rotors to remedy the problem; however, she continued hearing the grinding noise. in september 2009, she took the vehicle to the dealer who replaced the brake pads and rotors. she no longer noticed the noise; yet, the brake pedal extended to the floor with a sudden pulling and grabbing motion. the dealer told her that the abs activated which caused that feeling. she also stated that the vehicle would suddenly accelerate on an intermittent basis. in december 2009, the driver crashed into a brick wall when the vehicle suddenly accelerated. there were no injuries. the dealer took pictures and told her that there was nothing wrong with the vehicle. furthermore, the gear shift broke and the dealer did not repair the vehicle for six months. she called the manufacturer and was unable to speak with a representative. the current mileage was approximately 17,000. the failure mileage was approximately 1,000.

i was driving my 2009 toyota corolla. once, prior to the event in question i had briefly noticed a lack of acceleration. i pressed on the accelerator and nothing happened. the car just quit moving forward. no noise or anything. but, in a few seconds, i tried again and it seemed normal so, i decided it was just my imagination. then, in jan /feb i was coming home from the gym (thankfully not on the freeway) about 9pm on a city street traveling about 30 mph. i tried to accelerate slightly to the speed limit of 35mph and discovered (again, with no warning) that my car would not move forward. none of the systems worked steering etc. but at that speed i did manage to stop. i called 911 and the police stopped 3 lanes of traffic and pushed me to the side. i waited an hour for aaa and had the car towed to the toyota dealer. it took them a whole day to decide it was an electronic problem and to "fix" it. i was scared to drive it, but i did for maybe another month before deciding that he constant fear of it happening again (maybe on the freeway) was not worth it. the dealer made me a "deal" on a trade for a 2010 corolla. i drove this car until 2 weeks ago. i could not live with the anxiety of having another (in my mind) electronic failure. i am one who is convinced the toyota problem is electronic and not related to mechanics. i now have a ford. thank you for your attention.

sorry, this might sound trite given all of the seriousness with the toyota gas pedal problems. but i feel it needs to be documented. we purchased a 2009 toyota corolla. what i noticed about the gas pedal is that it doesn't press very smoothly, you have to baby it, or you get a jack rabbit start. but that is not why i am writing. we get mice in the car on a regular basis. there are apparently gaps that allow for mice to get in. they chew on things, eat food and pee. it doesn't seem like there should be gaps big enough to allow this type of access. i looked below and there is a lot of gap space between the boot around the steering shaft. again i know this sounds trivial. but if a mouse can get in, so can other creatures...a snake? imagine driving down the road and having some critter appear and scare the daylights out of you. anyway, that is all. i just felt it should be reported.

2009 toyota corolla with idle control issues including slow to return to idle on occasion. vehicle has had brake vacuum recall completed and just today the gas pedal repair. problem still exists. i feel it is up in the fuel control systems and have told the dealer this each time starting back on 12/30/09. toyota corporate has given me a case number but the person handling the case has never called and is never available. cold engine always has high idle up until full operating temperature. it fluctuates frequently. once full operating temperature is reached it then goes to a normal idle but then frequently stumbles and drops by 200 rpm. on a few times during each drive of 45 minutes or more it is noticeable that the rpms are slow to return to idle and vehicle keeps speed without touching the gas.

in the past year, i have experienced sudden �jerks� during acceleration on at least two occasions, and had the vehicle inspected twice, in august 2009 and in december 2009. in both instances, toyota mechanics advised they could not identify a problem. additionally, throughout the past year, i have experienced noticeable problems with the electrical system, which raise concerns about the overall integrity of the electrics. there has been very frequent loss of power to the power door locks and manufacturer�s radio. during the inspections, toyota mechanics could not identify a problem in this area either.

about 5:30pm on thursday evening (2/4/10), i was driving home n on silver lake blvd & 36 st. it was lightly snowing, the streets were wet and slippery, and i was driving under 15/mph going downhill. as i pressed the brakes, the car went faster, and did not stop until i badly hit the car in front of me and went over the curb. my car is a 2009 toyota corolla. about 2-3 months ago, toyota sent me a recall notice for the brakes, much before the nationwide toyota recall hit the media. and now, even after i did recall a few months ago, this is the second time that such a brake-related incident has happened to me ever since the recall. i feel that this accident is related to another brake defect of the newly-replaced/altered brakes, and would kindly ask for it to be further investigated.

this description is correcting my description i just filed with you. as soon as i started driving my car upon leaving the dealership after purchasing the car, i noticed it moved forward as if being bumped from behind as i let up on the accelerator. also, if i removed my foot quickly from the pedal and waited a few seconds before placing my foot on the brake, the car would make jerky motions and the tachometer (rpm) would jump wildly. i didn't know if the problem was in the accelerator or in the electrical system. i brought it to the twice for the problem but they couldn't find anything showing up on the diagnostic computer check the first time. the service tech did have to re-set the original setting on something and he told me to bring it back if that didn't fix it. the problem still existed so i brought it back the second time and the tech rode with me and he also felt what i was experiencing. he tried to explain it away but i couldn't believe that it was the car getting used to a new driver as he said it was because it is still having the problem and i have driven the car for 1,225.

i bought my 2009 toyota corolla in may 2008. from the very first day of ownership, the steering has been very sloppy, especially when traveling over 50 mph while on the highway. the steering seems as if it is over-sensitive and not fine-tuned, but there also could be a major problem with the steering components. when i brought this issue up to my local toyota dealership, they responded by telling me that the steering is supposed to be that way, since it was a new electronic power steering system, rather than a conventional power steering system like in previous models. if the steering is supposed to be that way, then why is it that i have such a hard time keeping my 2009 toyota corolla centered in the lane while driving down the highway. the vehicle wanders all over the road; and if i ever have a twitch or have to sneeze, the car would, most likely, be darting all over the highway because of the sloppy steering. in talking with many 2009 toyota corolla owners, this problem doesn't seem as if it is minor, as all owners that i talk to have similar problems. i have to keep both hands firmly on the steering wheel, looking straight ahead in order to keep my car in a semi-straight line while traveling down the highway. if i start looking around, scanning for potential hazards that may present themselves, i find that the car is wandering to the left or right without almost any steering input from myself. i would appreciate if the nhtsa and toyota would look into this potentially serious problem with the steering with the 2009 toyota corolla so that all owners of this vehicle would actually be able to have a stress-free drive while operating this vehicle.

the 2009 toyota corolla that was purchased in 2009 accelerated, on it's on accord while pulling out of the garage. this caused the car to increase in speed so quickly that the car hit the natural gas meter located next to the house.the force of this impact combined with the acceleration caused major damage. the gas meter began to leak and the force of impact and continuing acceleration of the vehicle, literally ripped a gash in the side of the car, approx 5 feet long. this gash was caused by the regular on the gas meter. (the meter is well out of the way of the path and has never been a problem. it has been in this location for decades. the vehicle only stopped because it was forced to, as the small section of the gas meter which impacted the car was unable to continue ripping into the car. as it finally came to a point where the door ended and the passenger side front quarter panel began. this was not reported to the police, as this happened on our private property. in addition,we saw no point in reporting it to nhtsa as we could not fathom that it was even the cars fault. as perplexed as we were that this happened, until recently, we have never been able to explain why such damage would be caused by pulling out of the driveway at such a slow speed, or even how we managed to hit the gas meter. with the given news of the sudden acceleration recall, we now have a very clear picture as to what happened. the vehicle was never repaired as the cost of this repair is going to be more than we can afford at the moment. additionally, the gas meter began to leak and had to immediately be turned off and an emergency repair call to the gas company was made. the regulator on the meter was replaced, but we were without gas in the house for a short period. thankfully, the house did not explode. we are very concerned about this as this car is driven 80 miles a day to go to work and return daily.

i live in minnesota and during winter my 2009 toyota corolla produce a slipping on black ice sensation when passing under a bridge. this usually happens at highway speed and i'm not steering the car at all. it's like the car temporarily steer itself under the bridge without me moving the steering wheel. i have to keep the steering extra still to avoid a skid or shifting to another lane. my car also has poor antilock braking. the antilock frequency is way to high to be effective in low speed driving. it usually cause skid and long braking distance.

while following my daughter on an interstate highway, after she got a 2009 toyota corolla, i noted that she had a tendency to drift to the side of the lane, then correct the steering repeatedly. i noted it to her thinking it was a problem with her driving skills. we then switched cars. (i have over 40 years driving experience.) i noted in the rear view mirror that she did not seem to have this problem with my car. i seemed to have no problem keeping the corolla in-lane at high speed. however, i was sensitized to the problem and was paying particular attention to where i was in the lane-something that i am not inordinately focused on normally when driving. i have recently discussed this with her and she now claims that she is having no problem keeping the toyota in-lane. i am reporting this after reading in the news about other people having this problem with this vehicle.

within a few weeks of purchasing my toyota corolla 2009, i noticed at both slow and fast speeds the car drifts to the right or left depending on the inertia of the car. the car does not stay in its lane -- i.e. the car does not drive in a straight line -- without full attention and steady pressure of both hands on the wheel to correct the drift. on highways (from 45mph and especially from 65mph) this problem is exaggerated -- i.e. small drifts or corrections can result in swerving and have greater potential for an accident. on one occasion i experienced drifting off the road and was able to correct in time. however, it struck me as such a danger that i stopped driving the car at higher speeds and avoid highways altogether wherever possible. the vehicle failure mileage was about 100 and current mileage is 8,500. this complaint updates a prior complaint filed february 4, 2010.

2009 corolla le......the vehicle would not steer correctly or maintain a straight course line. there is an engineering error in the 2009 corolla le. the rear stamped axle has no provision for rear wheel alignment. toyota claims the car at highway speeds with self align...this is not true. the only resolve for the steering issues on the 2009 corolla le is to modify the vehicle frame so that the stamped axle can be repositioned thereby bringing the rear wheels into alignment with the front wheels. i attempted to work with toyota corporate but was simply stonewalled. i had to have a private wheel and frame shop modify my new toyota to correct the steering issue. i have all the documentation including independent hunter specification sheets both from the dealership and 3rd party wheel and frame shops to verify the issue and also how the problem was solved. again, it is an engineering issue with grave potential of serious injury or death to which toyota will not acknowledge responsibility.

i own a 2009 corolla since may 2008 and since the first day i bought my car, i have had this feeling that the steering on my corolla is "super sensitive" and that is a challenge to keep the car from veering to either side. i had the alignment checked but that did not help a lot. i always thought that maybe it is due to the fact that the 2009 corollas have an electric power steering versus the hydraulic power steering in the earlier models, and since i have never owned an electric power steering car in the past, i feel it different but now reading about the challenge that other 2009 corolla owners face when trying to keep it going straight, it looks like this is something bigger. it is nearly impossible to steer my 09 corolla with one hand (which was never an issue with my previous cars) and it is a challenge to prevent it from veering off the lane. i have to use a tight two handed grip to prevent the car from moving towards another... which happens within seconds and has scared me while driving, more than just a couple times.

steering issue with 2009 toyota corolla, 25,050 miles. while traveling at 20mph in residential subdivision, vehicle veered left, steering unresponsive, spun 180 degrees and came to rest against the curb on the opposite side of the road. car in front and car to the rear passed through same area without incident. also, vehicle will drift abruptly at highway speeds, similar to effect of high crosswind or ice, with no movement of steering wheel and none of the body roll that usually accompanies a crosswind, requires high level of attentiveness to avoid crossing lane boundaries. this behavior is sporadic, but a 10-mile trip is enough distance for several occurrences. given the intermittent nature of this issue, i have not reported it to the dealership nor to toyota, so nothing has been done and no repairs have been attempted.

i own a 2009 toyota corolla and the problem is that the steering has to be constantly adjusted to keep it from wondering off center. this occurs at all speeds. it reminds me of driving a go-cart. the steering is extremely sensitive to any turning of the steering wheel. it responds more like driving with a joystick. the tires are properly inflated. the car is new with only 4,200 miles and has never been driven on rough roads. a toyota dealer service rep (naples, fl) said it is natural with small cars. i find it very difficult to drive without constantly watching the road and adjusting the steering. looking to the side such as reading a road sign could get me in a lot of trouble. this problem happens at all time and not on a particular day per below.

i own a 2009 toyota corolla. the car is about 9 months old. i noticed in january 2010 that the car is not steady at high speeds. on the highway, at about 60 mph, the car required constant maneuvering of the steering wheel to prevent it from drifting off a lane. to be more precise, even when i hold the steering steady, the car drifts and i have to bring the car back into the lane by adjusting the wheel slightly. it does not happen every time i drive, but has happened on two occasions so far. the drift is quite significant and something toyota cannot ignore. i hope toyota recognizes this problem asap.

my daughter and son-in-law while driving in their 09 toyota corolla, experienced uncontrolled acceleration; on a straight piece of dry pavement, causing the vehicle to shoot into the oncoming lane (a condition known as torsional steering by some) on a 2 way traffic road striking a car in the oncoming lane and thus causing a major accident. there were only slight injuries. though the wheels were pointed straight ahead, the car veered left as the car uncontrollably sped up. my son-in-law states that his foot was not on the pedal. the action initiated after he depressed the pedal to accelerate along with other traffic. the car was repair by the insurance but still has the original problem. it has only done it the time that the car was involved in the accident and my daughter and son in law have been reluctant to use it since the accident so thus we have not had the experience recur. yes the original part is available and still on the vehicle, though toyota is scheduled to either repair it or replace it soon.

i own a 2009 toyota corolla that has had numerous incidents of not starting. the vehicle will not start after sitting for a period of time, however, it will start after numerous attempts to do so. this vehicle was purchased brand new in april 2008. i have had this vehicle in the shop on three separate occasions with this same issue and they tell me they cannot find a cause for this. this has also happened four other times that i did not take the vehicle to the garage since they informed me they could not fix it if it would not repeat the behavior. the occurrence is very sporadic and there is no way to know when it will happen again. the last time it was in the garage they placed a fuel additive in the gas tank to fix the problem... still no resolve.

i bought toyota corolla 2009 a year ago. and after 2 weeks i bought i complained about the steering wheel by feeling the survey form and even i went to the dealer to check this for me. the steering wheel is very very bad.... when you drive you car more than 50 mile per hour.... it is very hard to keep the lane straight.... you have to grab the wheel really hard... you feel swinging left and right when you drive this car in a highway. starting from week 1. i am extremely disappointed with the performance of the steering wheel of this car. i was expecting to hear from toyota following my complaint.... but i didn't hear anything. i am still driving this car with less confidence and scared every single time i drive. i never felt driving a new car for a single day. seriously, these toyota corolla 2009 model needs to be checked for the steering wheel. since i have already bought it i can't to anything but i would love to have my complaints heard by toyota and fix the issue. the steering wheel is very bad.

2009 corolla s steering problem--driving on freeway car wanders any attempts to correct the steering doesn't help i'm constantly trying to keep my corolla with in the lane. i'm more worried about the steering than the gas pedal. i traded in a 2006 corolla for this one, no problems with the 2006. i reported the problem to the dealer they said that the steering was designed to handle this way. i reported the steering with in a few weeks after i bought the car. i went on line and found out that this was a common problem with the corolla. over the year i found myself coming very close to getting into an accident on more than one occasion because of car drifting into the other lane.

while driving our 2009 toyota corolla on a slick, snow-covered roadway, a vehicle in front of my wife stopped rather quickly. she was traveling about 15-20 miles per hour, upon braking, the anti-lock brakes kicked in and seemed to completely disengage the brakes. the anti-lock brakes fired slowly, the pedal strongly resisted being pressed and the car kept on going, she had to swerve into a gas station to avoid rear-ending the vehicle in front of her. two days later, it snowed again, and i was able to reproduce the problem on our street. driving at a speed of 20-25 mph, i quickly applied the brakes and experienced the same resistance to pressing of the brakes, the same slow firing of the anti-lock system, and the same feeling of complete disengagement of the brakes. the car took nearly 120 feet to stop (this is a very gross estimate based on property sizes). after this experience, we tested the brakes on our toyota rav 4 on the same road and got significantly better performance - the vehicle stopped in less than 60 feet (again, gross estimate) and did not exhibit the resistance to pressing or the slow firing of the abs. upon taking the vehicle to a dealer, we were informed that everything tested fine and there was no problem and nothing to fix. the problem recurred again in similar conditions two days later. the dealer has offered to allow us to bring the car in on a day when a rep from toyota will be present, but i feel that they do not believe us, and am not optimistic that they will be able to diagnose the cause.

i bought a new toyota corolla on 5-27-09 from fiesta toyota in lawton ok. i called them to tell them it did not drive good as my last corolla and i took it back to them on 7-13-09 and they kept it all day and said it was the electric steering. it wonders over the road especially if the road is not a good wide smooth road. they worked on the steering and said it was all they could do. i got and brought it home and then i called them to tell them i was dis-satisfied and was going to bring it back. i have not took it back as they said they had all they could do. something needs to be done about this steering problem. i hope you check into this letter.

this letter was dated and sent june132009 re: steering, brakes and/or suspension of my 2009 toyota corolla le, 4 door sedan. with a mileage of 11,682 to date. toyota motor sales, u.s.a., inc., this letter is in regards to the recent road handling of my toyota corolla (listed herein). i purchased this vehicle to replace my 1995 toyota avalon as a vehicle to drive to and from work. i drive quite a distance to work having put on 8000 miles on this car in only 3 � months of ownership. our family car is a 2007 matrix xr. we are obviously fans of toyota vehicles. this past week the bishop ford highway, which is part of my route to work in chicago, was scraped prior to a resurfacing of the road. this left a stretch of road which was very rough and with deep wavy grooves cut into the pavement. when my car crossed into the scraped section of pavement my car lurched about a foot to the right (without the steering wheel moving). this alarmed me as it could have caused an accident but the steering recovered under normal conditions but i realized something was wrong or loose in the front end. my warranty was coming due (12,000 bumper to bumper) and the car does handle well for the most part and i need the car for work so i figured i would wait a few days until the weekend to have it fixed along with the brakes which are starting to feel spongy. new pads are probably needed on the front end. i will have them checked independently this week and pay the out of pocket expense (even though this should have been covered under the warranty, even if the brake pads are close to being in need of replacement at this point). our service department at toyota on 30 in merrillville indiana did not find any problem with the brakes and the road handling could not be duplicated by their mechanics. i am a very experienced driver at age 45 with not even a parking ticket to my name. if there is a serious flaw...

tl*the contact owns a 2009 toyota corolla. he stated that the electronic steering wheel became difficult to control and resistant when turning the wheel in either direction. he also stated that the vehicle would bear to the left or right often times without driver intent. the dealer was contacted and they test drove the vehicle with the owner at approximately 35 mph and verified that the failure does exist. when depressing the brakes at various speeds, the brakes would feel as if they were not engaging, then they would immediately respond and lunge the vehicle forward. no repairs were made to correct the failures. the failure and current mileages were under 13,300.

i was driving on to the off ramp and off the freeway decelerating from about 65 miles per hour. i felt as if a strong gust of wind pushed my car to one side at the same time this occurred the steering wheel jerked to the left pulling my hand with it. at this point i had no idea what had happened i tried to recorrect the wheel and instead it went wildly back to the right. this happened another time within a couple of seconds. the next thing i know the car spun around 180 degrees facing oncoming traffic of cars coming off the freeway at which point the car drifted, hit the curb and rolled into the embankment. the car was totaled. my passengers leg was also injured and we are lucky to be alive. until all this news came out about toyota i had thought that what had caused my accident was strong winds because honestly that is what it felt like when i was driving behind the wheel and on top of that i was traumatized so i never thought about the accident having anything to do with the cars mechanical failure. looking back i don't even believe the wind was even blowing that day that was the first time i drove that car on the freeway after purchasing the car. my sister also drove it once on the freeway and she also mentioned that the steering wheel felt hard to handle. shed mentioned that driving from san jose to san francisco she had to have a firm grip with two hands on the steering wheel because it felt strange. the accident was in 2008 and it was a 2009 corolla. because of the accident we weren't even able to have a chance to determine whether or not the steering wheel actually had a defect.

in early 2009 , one winter night, i was returning home after a night out, it has snowing and the temperature was below zero. my driveway is about 50 feet long and covered with snow and may be some ice and therefore become slippery. from the curb, i accelerate slightly to get over onto the driveway, and then i brake immediately once on the driveway. this is when i really suddenly for no reason the car is accelerating quickly and is going to hit my garage. i brake hard and find the car continue accelerating until it hit the back of my stand alone garage and cracked a few 2 by 4 pillars. my car suffer no damage. when i reported this to toyota online, i got no response from toyota canada other than this, i am very happy above my corolla and i don't have any other brake problem since then.

we purchased a 2009 toyota corolla last spring from coleman's toyota in rockville, md. in august, we had a frightening experience. the temporary driver's floor pad became loose and crept over the accelerator, making it necessary to stop the car and remove the pad. at that time, we had not heard or seen any news about a recall, but were told by our coleman's salesman that we would have to pay $200 for front seat floor pads that would be clipped on the floor. he said toyota did not consider attachable floor pads standard equipment in the price of a car. he finally sold me attachable pads for $40 on sept. 18, 2009. we have not had a problem since then, but we wonder why nhtsa would allow a car dealer to sell any car without firmly placed floor pads are part of the sticker price. it is now feb. 12, 2010, and we have not received any recall notice for the accelerator problem. my wife is frightened to use the car on any major highway.

safety problem with steering when driving at highway speeds on 2009 corolla when driving at highway speeds, the car tends to veer to one side or the other, especially when driving along a curve, apparently due to the vague, unresponsive electric power steering system. this causes a sense of loss of control and the need to hold on tightly to the steering wheel to keep the car from veering outside of the lane. this is considered to be a serious safety issue and i don't see how this can be remedied by any adjustment or repair except to recall the car itself and take it off of the road. this occurred the first day i drove the car on the highway.

2009 toyota corolla steering is extremely light and requires constant correction to hold a straight line. even on a calm day it is like driving in a heavy wind. on a windy day speed must be reduced to maintain control. if you run the tires at recommended pressure it is even more difficult to maintain control. about 32 lbs is optimum but still work. this way since purchase. if you lit the steering drift go too far a sudden correction causes an oversteer.

the car violently jerks out of drive into neutral for no reason whatsoever. this happened on more than one occurrence and a case was opened by our local dealership with toyota who claimed that "a transmission cannot fail in one of those cars". the module on the transmission was re-calibrated once, as required by a previous service bulletin. i was told to come back when the vehicle slipped out of gear again. i did not feel safe in this car, so i traded it in at the first option i had.

very often, my 2009 corolla will have a very low idle, the car acts as it is going to stall. it shudders, the tach drops low, but then will come back up. it happens several times per week when i am either backing up or going from a stop into first gear. i have driven only manual transmissions for over 26 years, and this is the first vehicle i have owned that this has happened with. i fear i will be hit from behind, or t-boned when the car acts as if it wants to stall. it never has stalled, but it frightens us. as i mentioned, the car shudders, shakes when this happens to us. we feel it may have something to do with a low idle problem, either with the electronics or software. we have taken it back to the dealer a few times, but it's the famous "can not duplicate" answer. we only drive this vehicle usually from april to late october. we live in the snowbelt of ohio and drive our 4x4 jeep nov. through march. i also drive a 2001 manual transmission honda civic, with never theses issues. i can't give incident dates, this happens frequently during each week, ever since i took delivery of this car in march, 2008. again, this is a 2009 corolla s.

2009 toyota corolla s brakes were failing to stop sound as if brakes were metal to metal. loud grinding nose and uneven contact with brake disc. two accidents were barely avoided because vehicle inability to stop in a reasonable distance. excessive pressure was put on to the pedal to finally bring vehicle to a stop. car was taken to the dealership and a determination was made that the vehicle had over 60%of pad wear left. we immediately took it to an outside mechanic which determined that the rotor had become uneven warped and cupped in several places and the pads deteriorating and were defective. we had both replaced at an expense of over 500.00.

i was driving home from a dallas cowboy game with my grandson on a rural road. the car suddenly lost power and lights starting flashing. it almost came to a sudden stop. i had no steering control for a short period. the enginewarning light continued to flash. i was able to drive home at about 25 miles per hour. i called the dealer in abilene texas and was told to have the car toed. they could not or would not tell me what had happen. they did tell me that they got it to repeat what i had happen, but did not know what caused it. if this had happened sooner while on a busy highway, i believe there could have been a serious accident. i believe this is a computer problem with the cas. the car only had 5000 miles and i was not compensated for the towing as promised.

steering problems---as soon as i pulled my new 2009 toyota corolla off the sales lots in december 2008 from dan cava toyota i could barely keep it on the road. the steering was going from left to right without me turning it. it was by far the most dangerous car i had ever driven and i used to be a goodyear dealer. i complained 3 different times about the problem but it was never fixed. they said it was the wind and buckhannon toyota just let the air out of the tires when i complained there. it was a continuous problem and if i made a sharp turn, at time the wheels would go as far in that direction that they could go and they car would go into a uncontrolled skid. mind u i was a goodyear dealer, i know about cars. then i noticed that as i put more miles on the car it was slowly getting better and by the time i had 3,000 miles on the car it had quit. if a lesser experienced driver had been driving i am sure it would have caused a crash.

the car oversteered and fishtailed yesterday when i was making a left turn. as a result, i almost crashed into another car in the lane to my right. i was going about 25 mph or less on dry, normal asphalt pavement, in normal weather conditions, after freeway driving in los angeles ca. in a separate incident, i found the steering to be dangerously vague when i was driving around 70 mph downhill on a steep and curvy mountain highway (i-15 in nevada, about 100 miles south of las vegas) in dark. the car was difficult to control, with the steering being extremely light and vague. i checked the wheel vs. tire movement of my car. it doesn't appear to be an excessive freeplay issue -- in fact there was no freeplay. it appears that they made the steering way too light and, on top of it, very nonlinear -- that is very slow steering response at the center. because of this the car doesn't immediately steer unless you turn the steering wheel about two inches. i'm sure toyota did this with safety in mind -- so that the car can't be suddenly steered -- but the end result was unsafe steering instead. it's unsafe because the steering is so vague that people can unintentionally turn the steering wheel without not immediately changing the car's direction but then in a second or two car may veer out of control.

ever since i purchased my 2009 toyota corolla i have noticed steering difficult. i read blogs at the time and it seemed from what i read, that this was just a draw back of the car, so i let it go. i feel i need to report it now. the steering feels way to responsive to even the slightest hand movement of the wheel, or bump in the road. because the suspension on this model is so stiff, a bump in the road can cause my hand to move a tiny bit, resulting in the car moving much more than one would expect from little movement. the best way to sum up the problem is this; it is near impossible to just go straight, or hold the wheel still for a second. you have to constantly move slightly to the right or the left just to keep in the middle of your lane. going around curves smoothly is difficult as well. if it is windy this problem is 10 fold, and down right dangerous. i have already skidded off a snowy highway because the car so easily fish tailed while trying to correct my steering. luckily there was no damage, had there been vehicle in the lane next to mine, there would have been a horrific crash. in my 17 years of driving i have never fish tailed before. the alignment and tires have been checked and are fine. i had the brake recall done before the above mentioned incident. there doesn't feel to be an alignment issue. the car does not pull. the steering just seems far too sensitive, this combined with it's odd aerodynamic response, and bumpy ride make the steering feel very unsafe at times. even when it doesn't feel dangerous, it is tiring to have to constantly adjust the wheel right and left just to keep it in lane. i've never had a steering issue like this with any other car. there is also the overwhelming smell of sulfur in the passenger cabin several times a week, seems the catalytic converter doesn't handle it well. took it to a dealer for the sulfur issue and they said that's normal. makes me light headed at times, on top of just stinking up my new car.

i have a 2009 toyota corolla that is part of the gas pedal recall. i believe it may also have the steering issue as well. i have noticed that my steering is all over the place, it takes 2 hands to generally run smoothly. my husband complains about it more, i just love my car so i defended it but now that i have heard there may be a problem, i think it should be looked at alittle closer. my other issue is that when we called the dealership back in jaunary in regards to the gas pedal they very nicely informed us that they were repairing the more expensive vehicles first and then would schedule me an appointment. is that allowed? no offense, but my life is just as valuable as a camry, 4 runner, or other vehicle that they consider more expensive. i wanted a toyota corolla so bad and now i would do anything to get rid of it.

i bought my car back in august of 2009 and like many others i have had problems with keeping the car straight down the road at higher speeds. i have always said i should not have to hold both hands on the steering wheel in order to go down the road. it gets even worse when the wind is strong. i was told that because it is a small car it will do this. but i have never had a small car act this way. my car is very well maintained and i know it is not the tires nor the front end alignment. if you do not pay attention to this problem it would take nothing for you to cause an accident.

i purchased a new 2009 toyota corolla in august of 2009. shortly after the purchase, i noticed that the vehicle drifts all over the road when traveling at highway speeds. it is very difficult to keep the vehicle in the lane that you are driving in and several times, i have come close to hitting the car that was in the lane next to me. i have taken the car to two different toyota dealers and have been told that every thing is normal and that there is nothing that they could do about my concerns. at this point, i have elected to park the vehicle and drive another vehicle as i do not feel safe driving the corolla. i recently heard that toyota was aware of the issue, however they were not sure what action they were going to take as there were only about 100 complaints filed on the issue. i performed a web search (google) on this topic and received over 2.5 millions results so this is not a small issue. i have also read many consumer review sites and this issue is mentioned in almost all reviews of the car.

the electronic power steering in my 2009 toyota corolla is very light and too responsive. since the vehicle was new, the steering requires constant slight corrections to maintain a straight line at highway speeds. consumer reports also noted in their july 2008 issue in their review of the 2009 corolla that "the steering is a bit light and rather vague on center."

since the first day i leased my toyota corolla it has had brake and steering problems. i have brought it back to the dealer within the first week and many times since. the car is all over the road and the brakes go to the floor sometimes. the last time i met with the manager in which he told me it was normal in corollas. they checked alignment and everything was fine but they did replace 2 tires due to them being totally worn after 16k miles. my wife has to drive this car everyday to work. i think the car is unsafe and should be known to others.

i bought my 2009 toyota corolla late in 2008. i used to use it a lot on the expressway when going to champaign from chicago. i noticed that i had to fight a lot with the car as it felt really loose. it was never a comfortable trip as i had to always hold the wheel super tight or else the car may jump to another lane or into the ditch. i never really looked into it because it was my first car (i had an suv previous to it) and i just thought it was either just me or it was normal that it happened. but just today i saw an article on an investigation being done on the corolla's power steering and it described exactly what was happening with me and my car. i wanted to file a complaint to make sure that this is issue is not overlooked as many drivers as myself may not have realized that what was going on with the steering was a potential problem. to summarize, when i am at highway speeds, i feel as i have to fight with my car or else i may lose control of it and steer off the lane. this never happens in the city. i bought this car brand new and it was an issue from the start and therefore not an issue caused by wear on the tires or the such. please look into this. i never do long distance travel with my corolla due to that issue and if it can be fixed it will be a great relief. by the way, i put a date from around the time i bought the car because it did not give me an option to put any other type of answer, but this issue happens at all times when on a highway. thank you.

thank you nhtsa ! hello, i have had extreme issues with the electric power steering on my 2009 corolla. there is definitely something wrong with the steering on mine and many other 2009 corolla's. the car is dangerous! the corolla swerves from left to right by its self and is very very scary at times. a good example would be to imagine your car being hit by extreme winds from the left and right simultaneously. i have nearly been involved in two accidents in this car. i have been to the avondale toyota dealer in arizona twice and they always told me the car was with in specs. the regional manager was informed of my problem yet he wouldn't even drive my car to see the problem. as if i was crazy or something, i have been a loyal customer to toyota for many years and this feels like a slap in the face. i am very educated in mechanics of automobiles and have driven many cars. this is not driver error! i also have to say, i have been more upset over the denial of this problem even more than the problem its self. if toyota would have listened to me and actually driven my car they probably could have saved them a ton of money on all the recalls now. good lesson to all business's. listen to your customers. i am very thankful this design flaw has gotten some media attention. maybe now they will actually look into this dangerous problem.

driving my 2009 toyota corolla westbound and was approaching an intersection where the light was red. i slowed down on my approach to the traffic light and applied the brakes to stop car for the red light. the car slowed but would not stop. the light was still red and in the intersection was a man making a left hand turn to travel eastbound in his suv. he saw me coming sped up his vehicle (also giving me the finger) i swerved to my right to avoid an accident. i had driven through the red light because the car would not stop. i took my foot off the brake and immediately the car accelerated without me touching the gas pedal. i applied pressure to the brake again and brought the car back to the speed limit. this incident occurred shortly after toyota made the announcement about problems with their floor mats. i stopped the car and checked my floor mat and it was not in the way at all of the accelerator pedal.

eps steering is very hard to keep car in lane when traveling at highway speed. the best description i can give is that you have to make constant micro adjustments to keep it going straight. i do not feel a pull like a alignment issue but rather the car steering seems to want to drift left or right all the time. i have a 2007 rav4 with eps and it does not have the same issues.

ongoing steering issue with 2009 toyota corolla purchased august 1, 2009, from eastern shore toyota as a new car. at interstate speeds (60 - 75 mph) car behaved as if in a strong wind...steering constantly needing correction. on january 6 i took the car for scheduled service and mentioned the problem to the service manager at the dealership. he knew of the problem and said, "it's the tires." he said that at high speeds those tires, "just run the roads." he said all i could do is wait until the tires wear out and change brands. i thought that was a lot to ask of a person who had recently paid virtually full price for a new car with a sense of driver-control noticeably diminished on the interstate. it may be important for you to know that i saved the work order and it makes note of my raising the steering issue. i called the car salesman and voiced my objection to "just put up with it." he correctly pointed out that the tires were under goodyear's warranty, not toyota's. i took the corolla to the local goodyear dealer and they replaced all four tires on my car...mileage now up to near 5000. on my first drive test, problem at high speed was definitely improved. i called my saleperson and told him so. however, on a 300-mile round trip yesterday, the problem, although reduced at interstate speeds, was now very apparent at city driving speeds. i finished the trip resolved to write the dealership today which i will do as soon as i finish this. coincidentally, in this morning's paper is an article about the very problem...losing control of the steering.

i was driving in the left lane on gsp (nj) at 65mph and all of a sudden the steering was not responding properly and the car was swinging between lanes. i immediately applied the brakes and slowed down and than moved into the right most lane. on that day it was little windy and i not sure if this is the cause but i have driven other cars and never faced this issue.

steering the car at highway speeds (over 55 mph) is difficult. feels like something is trying to push the car out of the drive lane. this occurs all the time (i have a 3 hr round trip commute at highway speeds) and has since vehicle was purchased. have an appointment w/dealership, but in a phone conversation was told by service rep that it was my problem, not the car and that an appointment was not necessary. rep (forgot name) stated that putting sand bags in trunk would solve problem. i have replaced the tires and had the alignment checked but the situation has not changed.

approaching red light, car in neutral, right foot depressing brake, left resting on clutch, and car was slowing down when engine revved (watched tachometer needle jump). as engine revved i checked to make sure that right foot was not near gas pedal (wasn't). this was second occurrence of the engine revving when gas pedal was not engaged. apparently there is a recall for this defect. i am not an automotive engineer. gas pedal will be modified by dealer within the week, but both times my feet were not near the pedal when the rpm's increased.

i bought my 2009 toyota corolla in june. after having it for a week i questioned about the reason as to why the steering was so hard to handle in the rain and when the wind blew. i was told this was because of the type of tires i had on my car. this problem has become worse. yesterday i was driving and without out me steering the car it went on it's on to the right. this car takes two hands tightly holding onto steering wheel to drive. it is the scariest car i have ever driven.

2009 toyota corolla - 14,000 miles february 8, 2010 tried to start car. it was firing up but not turning over. turned key off. it was still firing up. it stopped within a few seconds. this happened several times the same day - unable to start the car. february 9, 2010 - in the morning, tried to start the car - it fired up but did not turn over. kept firing up when key was turned off. tried again and it started. took it to the dealer and they cleaned the fuel injectors. question - could this be related to the accelerator problem?

thought i better add my experience with my 2009 toyota corolla. the car was impossible to keep in a straight line. it was as if every tiny steering correction was greatly exaggerated or being buffeted by strong winds from every direction on a calm day constantly. i had to constantly stay up on the wheel & not lose concentration for a second or i would be out of my lane. as i said, it was impossible to keep in a straight line. i complained to toyota about this but received no response at all. after about 5,000 miles it seemed to get a bit better or maybe i' just getting used to it.

this is a follow up to a previous complaint. i felt compelled to do so after reading other issues people were having with there toyota corollas (s). i purchased this car june 1st 2009. three weeks after purchase i noticed something was wrong with the paint. i took it to the dealers, the service dept manager looked at it and said it was due to the environment, the sales guy told me it was due to tree sap and the third time i took it the sales manager said it was from bird crap ( it's garaged most of the time). weeks later i was hit by a concrete truck, at first thought it was the trucks fault but not real sure now because of the difficult steering with this car. at the time of the accident there was no air bag deployment. i had the car repaired by a private shop, they couldn't understand why the airbag did not deploy. while my car was there they looked at the paint. i have a black car with large white spots and was told there was a problem with the clear coat and it would cost around 4,000 to fix it. i again went to the dealership and was told this time that's what happens when you buy a black car. i have filed a complaint with toyota and we all know where that has got me. i filed a complaint with the consumer complaint agency and toyota failed to respond. boy, for a reliable care the only thing i can rely on is poor quality and a death trap. i have a dodge and will drive it before this death trap. good luck trying to do a lane change and looking into the blind spots. i have almost hit cars on my right while attempting to do a lane change more times than i can count.
