i am a insurance adjuster for erie insurance, on 11/28/2008 our insured parked her rental car a 2008 pontiac g6 in front of her home and placed the car in park. she exited the car only to find that the car began to roll away and struck a lamp post in her neighbors yard. the damage to the car was $2097.32 & the damage to the neighbors property was $1764.27.

i was on the road and the anti theft lock symbol appeared just before all my dash gauges went wacky. i didn't have speedometer and then no odometer so i pulled off road and shut off car before anything else could happen. car wouldn't restart after several attempts. wiring harness was the problem according to the mechanics that repaired my car. i took my car in again after fix because remote start interrupted and wouldn't work and was told remote needed a new battery even though it only had 29,000 miles.

i have a new 2009 pontiac g6 and the brakes squeak terribly. many mechanics have said this is dust causing this. i do not agree. there has to be something wrong. i have had many other vehicles and this does not happen. pontiac should be responsible for correcting this issue. it is a total nuisance. how do i know the brakes will not go out. they did not squeak when we test drove as if it did, i would have never made the purchase. i am very dissatisfied with this new car.

i own a 2009 pontiac g6 gt.my anti theft system kicked on while driving. i parked my vehicle 5 minutes later for 20 minutes and when i tried to start it wouldn't crank. this was the first occurence. i have 2 small children in the car with me, but luckily i was pulling into my own driveway. i had just driven from columbus,oh. a few days later after trying to reset my sytem (because i thought it was the anti-theft device) i had it towed to a dealer. as it turns out my negative battery cable had broken. according to the mechanic there was a defect in the cord. the mechanic had to do some re wiring. i just thank the lord that my car didn't cut off while driving.

driving my pontiac g6 2009 leaving a parking space in shopping center driving down isle car came across i tried to get out the way and hit parking lot lite pole. was wearing my seat belt it failed and i hit steering wheel very hard. ended up with 3 fracture ribs and whip lash of the chest. dealer would not do anything about my complaint of seat belt failure. called gm and they are not acting fast enough for me. i'm driving this car around knowing my seat belt is not working.

i purchased a 09 pontiac g6 on july 28th 2010 it had 46,000 miles 2 weeks after i bought it cuts off for no reason in the middle of the street and would not crank up it was towed to the dealership and kept it for 9 days and still would not crank they got it to crank and then lock the keys up while having it running cause the door unlock and lock on their own but didn't know why it cut off and would not crank. so i got it back 2 week later it cuts off again while driving and gave no sign it was going to cut off and would not crank so i am stuck in the road again stranded for an hour i get it crank take it back to the dealer ship they don't know what's wrong it cuts off again while driving. take it back they don't know what's wrong and it cuts of about 6 to 8 more time while driving i take it to the dealer ship and they say the same thing and mind u these are all gm dealership and i used 3 different ones and they all say the same thing so it cuts off again i call gm myself and file a complaint they were no help and it stills cuts off til this day and it has an electrical problem as well cause the lights dim in and out when you turn on the air or heat or let the windows down or lock and unlock the doors . the engine runs rough and wheels sound like they about to come of while driving this is a bad car it looks good but drives bad and it not safe when the people who made it cant tell you why it cuts off while driving this very dangerous.

i drive a 2009 pontiac g6/gt sedan, i have replace the low beams bulbs for each light 6 times. now no accident has occurred, but the bulbs only last about a month. the retailers suggest that it is not their problem. i also decided to try different retailers and brand name bulbs. this is dangerous while driving at night, when your light go out.

tl* the contact owns a 2009 pontiac g6. the contact was driving 55 mph with the heated seat activated when it began to burn the contact abnormally. the contact turned off both the heated seat and the vehicle. the contact then noticed that the leather seat was burned severely. the vehicle was restarted and the heated seat began to cool after a long period of time. the contact took the vehicle to the dealer where the contact was advised that their was a short in the electrical seat and caused the seat to burn. the contact stated the seat could have caught on fire while he was driving, causing serious injury. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 52,000.

was stopped by the police stating i had no taillights. took the car to the dealer and they stated that the fuse was blown and replaced. within about 3 weeks the fuse blew again. had it in twice since and they still cannot find the problem. keep it a few days and resend the car out. i have checked it out and it seems that when it blows it is in auto mode and when auto lights come on. they said no connection and leave it again. this is a safety issue for my family if we lose taillights at night we could be rear ended. also i am on my third set of headlights. keep blowing out. and second set of tires.

the brake lights on my car are on sporadically. they come on when the brake is not pressed. the brake lights do not come on when i press the brake either. this is a danger beacuse i have a long commute to work and i have no way of warning drivers when i am slowing down or stopping. the issue also causes my cruise control to malfunction.

driver side low-beam burned out.. i changed it.. two (2) days later the light was out again.. i changed the bulb again and noticed the plug-in where the bulb gets plugged into looked like it shorted out there.. it was burned.. i put the new bulb in and two to three days later, it was out again.. both times the bulbs did not look like the burned out... i am tired of taking the headlight off of the car to change the bulbs.. i'm gonna have to do it again though, so we don't get a ticket for having a light out..something needs to done about this, because i know i'm not the only one with this problem... i was stopped at a red light waiting to make a right turn, when i went to turn the power steering was gone. took to a garage, code c0545 was found, garage re-calibrated the system. then on 2/4/2012 the power steering went out completely again while attempting to turn around. the wheel is extremely difficult to turn, and vibrates when attempting to turn the steering wheel. the steering wheel on straight road has play in it also once the power steering is gone. this is an extremely scary situation, and my 16 year old daughter drives this car periodically. *kb

my brake lights stick or remain on even when they are not being pressed making it appear that im riding my brakes. i have been pulled over by the police once already. i have replaced the brake light switch twice and it works for a couple of days only. i have seen a recall in the 2005 and 2006 models but it is still occuring in the newer models. i have seen hundreds of blogs about this problem in this particular model of car. this is just an accident waiting to happen when your brake lights arent working correctly. as well as the car getting stuck in park.

the headlight (h11) on the passenger side of my g6 would randomly stop working. we had changed the bulb once already and with further investigation we discovered the h11 wiring harness connector appeared to be melted. we then went to purchase a replacement the local auto parts stores were unable to assist us. we then went to our local gm service and the technician informed us that this h11 connector was a recall item on the arcadia and he had some on hand and sold us one. since this item is already a recall item on a different model he stated to hold on to the receipt incase it becomes a recall on our car. i paid nearly $40 to fix the passenger side to ensure if the drivers side goes out i will have time to fix that to prevent no headlights at all. please consider making this a recall to ensure safe driving, i enjoy driving my g6.

my driver side headlight was out. i replace the bulb from 2 different auto store and still not working. then my dad look at the connector look and seen that 1 of the wires was burned out. so i was told to take it to gmc and see if they can fix it since i had extended warranty. after telling service dept my issue and what i thought was wrong; i get hit with a $89 diagnose it fee that i had already had told them what was going on. they called and let me know that my connector was burned out and need to replace them in order the light to work and it wasn't covered thru my extended warranty so i had to pay $290 to get fix. after google this issue looks like this a on going issue for this vehicle that i think should be a recall before something else get shortage due to burned out wiring. i don't have the vin# and mileage left paper work at home.

large fuel leak at rear of gas tank above exhaust pipe resulting in an overwhelming fuel smell inside and outside of vehicle. diagnosed by dealership as cracked return line connection on the fuel pump module. part was replaced by dealership.

2009 pontiac g6 gt 3.5l v6 - on 09/23/11 when i put my car into park, the transmission was still in drive position. the shifter handle was loose and would not lock into p, r, n, d. turned off the engine and could remove keys but when i tried to crank the car again it wouldn't crank. had the car towed to a local dealer and they told me that the shifter cable was broken. had the cable replaced along with a new bracket. on 07/24/12 (83600 miles) i am having the same problem again!! i called the same dealer and he told me that there is a 12 month or 12000 mile warranty on parts and labor but unfortunately i had already driven 22000 miles in the last 10 months. dealer said they could check my car on diagnostics to tell me what could be causing the problem for $90 per hour. i can't afford to pay for them to tell me just what is causing the problem. i searched 2009 recalls and found one for my car, saying that the shifter cable clip may not be in place and that it could cause the vehicle transmission to be in drive while the shifter is in park. sometimes my shifter had a little difficulty to get out of park position, like it was locked up. so what in the world is causing my shifter cable to break twice in a 10 month period?? is anyone else having the same problem as me??

while driving, cruise control will disengage and brake lights will flair on. than when tap brakes, brake lights will shut off. within a couple seconds, they will turn back on. when actually going to press on the brakes, have no brake lights than. this has also happened without using cruise control, just driving in general. break lights will come on, than when press on the brake, they shut off. couple seconds later, come back on. this is a huge safety issue while driving at night time(or during the daytime), not having brake lights when stopping. do not feel safe driving with my children in the car. i have looked online, and found that i am not the only one having this issue: http://www.g6ownersclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6657 is a forum/thread of various g6 owners complaining about this issue and also believes they have come up with what the problem is. from what it sounds like, its a connector with the bcm (body control module) and it developing corrosion.

on 12/31/2011 i was pulled over for a burnt out headlight. upon replacing the bulb i noticed that the socket where the bulb plugs in was melted. i put a new bulb in and it worked for 3 months. when that went out in march of 2012 i replaced it again. now in august of 2012 that bulb burnt out. there is a connection to the melted harness as the bulb that burnt out was melted slightly where it made a connection to the socket. this is obviously an issue that goes well beyond my vehicle as a search on the internet shows other owners with the same issues. when the light bulb burns out at night it puts everyone at a safety risk which is not acceptable. gm needs to do something about this.

i have replace the housing that holds the headlights (pigtails) on both side of this pontiac five times now. the car sends too much electric current to the light bulbs that over heats the pigtails and melts them. i've searched online and have found thousands of complaints of this happening to the g6's. this has to be address and gm should do a recall to fix this before the cars catch on fire. please email me with your response with the word "pontiac" in the subject line. this is not the first time i've reported this. please someone do something before someone dies in an accident.

yesterday, in the above-mentioned vehicle, i was making a left turn at about 25 miles per hour when the driver's seat and my body shifted abruptly and radically. i almost lost complete control of my car, but, fortunately, i avoided having an accident by braking to a quick stop. i immediately took the car to the car dealership where i had purchased it, sherwood delray beach, and had the service department examine the car for the problem. they diagnosed the problem and advised me that the seat base (anchor) was broken or otherwise defective and that had been the cause of the above described incident. i purchased the vehicle in april 2009 and the odometer is now approximately 32,500 miles. the vehicle has been used strictly for general light-duty personal use since it was purchased, has been meticulously maintained, and has not been in any accidents of any kind whatsoever. i know of no possible reason why this driver?s seat base/anchor has broken or otherwise failed other than it is defective. therefore, it is my belief that this is a bone fide safety defect in this model automobile which could cause a crash or could cause injury or death. accordingly, i am reporting this issue to you for you to investigate. updated ivoq 11/15/12

i owned my car a little over a year when the driver side headlight went out the first time. i have had to replace it numerous times over the years. in the past 4 months i had to replace the same headlight 3 times. the last time it burned out after one day. i called the dealer to see if there was a recall on the headlights and was told no. i have an appointment to have the harnesses on the headlights replaced. the dealer said gm will only pay half after i said i went on line and found pages of similar complaints. there should be a recall on the headlights. i have spent quite a bit of money on bulbs and to have them replaced. now they want me to pay half of the repairs even though this is a common defect on the g6. i read that the 2010 models were changed.

i have had some issues with the headlights going out. the right low beam headlight went out around 2 weeks ago and it went again two days ago. i have also had the left headlight go out also. also my interior lights wont go off after starting the car and turning the car off for around 30 mins. and the alarm went off by itself also. i had to get the keyless key and turn off. no one was around the car when it went off. i have all kinds of error messages apear on my display that are no concern after checking them out. my main concern is my headlights going out. i consider this a major safety concern. i have both lights go out and had to run the bright lights to get home after dark. please do a recall gm !!

started car and power steering warning light came on and a chime sound and power steering was gone. when i researched found that many g6 models have been recalled with same problem. repair will be for part in electrical model for power steering and part in steering column. when researched found many items regarding recall on g6 models up to 2008 with exactly the same problems. repair cost will run over $12000. my car is a 2009 with only 55,000 miles. i do not believe i should be having this problem with this low mileage.

the seatbelt light appears on the dash and the chimes occurs even when the seatbelt is engaged. this is a safety feature of the vehicle. the vehicle has 64,000 miles on it and this part should be working as it is required by the state and federal laws. this appears to be a manufacture defects and should be covered under the warranty. however, the dealership wants to charge me for a new seat belt assembly.

problem 1 approximately 3 months ago, my left headlight stopped working. replacing the lamp would seem to fix the problem for a few days, but it would then start and stop working intermittently, then go out altogether. the lamp was not the problem. i was able to resolve the problem on my own by splicing in a new lamp plug connector, after searching for the problem on the internet. it has worked without problems for the last couple months, but i can only hope that my "fix" has really addressed whatever the problem was. this problem is discussed at great length on internet forums, and clearly is common with this car. intermittent headlamps would certainly seem to me to be a safety issue worthy of a recall. problem 2 today, i noticed the cruise control would not engage. as i drove along, i tried tapping the brakes, and found the cruise would engage for a few seconds and then go off again. a second drive (at night) confirmed that the car's brake lights were coming on at random and staying on. tapping the brakes would make them go off, but they come on again a few seconds later. the car is not safely drivable in this condition, which is unresolved. again, a quick internet search revealed that this is another very common problem with this car. it also appears that a recall actually exists, but for only a tiny number of cars, when this clearly affects the entire model range. this car has only 82,000 miles and i can't drive it safely because none of the lights work correctly. gm should be forced to recall this model to fix the lighting problems.

g6 began to shift gears on its own in the middle of the highway leading to near accidents due to sudden stops or slow downs. cars transmission locked in park and won't reverse. car begins to reverse on its own in park but ends up catching itself back in park. transmission seems to be set on park and won't change to go in reverse. also the power steering high pressure hose burst at random while driving straight, caused severe melting of various wires around it. nearly lit the car on fire after causing the starter to catch fire from the power steering fluid getting inside of it.

i bought my 2009 pontiac g6 sedan brand new. i had problems with my car door locks within the first 6 months. my 3-year-old niece was in the back seat and both rear door locks actually locked open! so we weren't able to shut the doors and drive under "safe" conditions. i had to bungee-cord the doors locked and drive to the closest dealership. the locks had reset and the doors were able to close. then in 2010, my driver side door locked shut on me! i wasn't able to get out of my car. after 2 hours the door locks reset. the same issue happened again to the rear door. this time, i was able to get an appointment with the dealership. the car was under warranty at the time. i told the dealership that i have been having issues with all the door locks and they said they can only fix the one since that was the only one with the problem at the time. in 2011, i had similar issues whether the doors were locked shut or locked open. every time i would make an appointment, the locks would reset and the problem was left undiagnosed. in february 2013, my fiance had taken my vehicle to his local mechanic. the mechanic got locked inside my vehicle! then in may 2013, i was with my niece again and the rear doors and driver door locked open! i gave the car some time to reset, and the door unlatched and closed. but then it got locked shut! so i drove my car for 2 days with the doors locked shut. i had to crawl over the passenger side seat and enter/exit through the passenger side door. the dealership told me that the lock mechanism was broken and that it needed replaced for $400 each because it was out of warranty! so i called gm. they said the door locks were not recalled, the car was not under warranty, that it was my responsibility to pay for the repair. pontiac is very well aware of the door lock issues, and so is- the mechanic. these are faulty locks!

i was pulled over by a police office for suspected i was drunk driving. he said it was because of my erratic brake lights. after that by watching the rear window light at night i realized that my brake lights are on with no pedal applied, off when i apply the brakes and on again when i apply them hard. i now realize because the cruise control only works with the lights are off that this problem has been on going since i bought the car used last year. i took it to a shop to get fixed and the repair only lasted less than two days before failing again. i've read on the internet that this may become a recall but 2009 wasn't listed as one of the years. my g6 coupe 2009 has the same problem as described on the 05 thru 08.

i purchased a 2009 pontiac g6 in dec 2009. when the vehicle was taken into the dealership for its first oil change (@3000 miles), a fuel odor was detected coming from the rear wheel area. this smell was mentioned to the dealership and the owner was told by the service writer that it was a 'shop spill' and not from the car. on other occasions a fuel odor was detected by the owner, but they were dismissed as flukes. recently, (06/13) a very strong fuel odor began coming from the rear wheel area of the car. the hotter weather seemed to make the problem more noticeable. research was done on various blogs and forums, and the owner determined that the problem was most likely a cracked fuel line or fuel return line on the top of the fuel tank and that the dealers charge $800 or more for the replacement of the fuel pump assembly. the problem has been a known issue for the g6 since the 2006 model and as yet, general motors has not done the "right thing" and issued a recall. if my vehicle was much older or had a lot of miles on it, i might feel better about this problem occurring, but the vehicle only has 33,000 miles on it, and is only 3 1/2 years old. i hope that no one dies from this design/manufacturing defect before general motors takes appropriate action and recalls these vehicles. i know that it would be very costly, but much less expensive than the potential lawsuits they will have to settle if someone dies or is injured or property is destroyed due to fires. i know that i would stand up in court with this message and the internet postings that show this is major problem and testify that "gm knew about this problem and took no action". hopefully, somehow g6 owners can get together and force gm to take the corrective action that they should and reimburse the owners that have already made the repairs.

passenger side lowbeam went out, replaced bulb and it went out again, inspected wiring harness and noticed it was charred and melted, and the wiring near it was also charring and insulation burning off. replaced wiring harness, bulb went out again a few days later, inspected new wiring harness and noticed it was melting again. suspect short as even the wires are getting very hot, however no fuse has blown to date. concerned about sudden lack of visibility at night and about fire risk.

i had someone following me home the other day and when we arrived they asked me why i kept putting on my brakes and letting off. i was not touching the brakes. we cranked up the car and stood behind it and watched and the brake lights would come on and go off without anyone even sitting in the car. i got in and started pressing the brake pedal and when i pressed the pedal the lights would go off. when i let off of the pedal the lights would come on. that's when i started searching this issue and found all the other people out there that have had the same issues with their g6's. in my opinion and everyone else that has this problem, this is a major safety issue. my daughter drives this car and it makes me extremely worried that something could happen. how in the world can gm not be taking action to resolve this problem considering how much talk they advertised about the quality of the new g6? gm needs to stand up and do the right thing here before someone really gets hurt or dies due to an accident involving these brake lights.

2009 pontiac g6 i got on the highway and tried to switch on the cruise control and it wouldn't work so i pulled over to the side of the road to see what's wrong. when i got out of my car i noticed that the brake lights were on so i went back and pressed the brakes then they turned off. i started driving again but soon as i turned on the cruise control it comes on but turns right back off. but if i hit the brakes the cruise control will work again for a second then turns right back off that's when i realized that the brake lights come on when i drive but when i hit the breaks they turn off. im only writing this because my car doesn't have 100,000 miles yet and i saw that your company started an investigation regarding this issue. i would like to know how this can be fixed because it's not just on the highway it's happening now all the time. this can be a safety issue so i'd rather get this fixed now. please help. thanks!

intermittent very hard up shifts (including changes from park-drive etc), cruise flys off and stops working while going down road, speedometer stops working and flickers randomly, car flashes "power steering" on radio panel and "error" on odometer read, hard turning, car loses power as it revs to realize it needs to shift (automatic transmission) initially, restarting car would help for awhile, but now the problem is consistent. gm dealership could not diagnose problem and thought it was loose wiring. after not being able to trace the communication errors the dealership simply gave it back with no fix or answers. major issue considering the car has only 36500 miles to date with an issue clearly other pontiac g6 owners have had to deal with as well. the inconsistent issue has contributed to a recent car accident.

when the passenger gets out of the vehicle the on/off light for the passenger airbag remains on even when there is no person sitting in the seat. the seat belt light also remains flashing and dings when driving. this is a distraction. the dealer informed me that it was a 1100 dollar repair. the repair is not covered under my warranty and if left un-repaired it will cause the airbag to not go off in an accident. my vehicle has less than 30,000 miles on it.

my brake lights are intermittently staying on while driving even though i am not using the brake pedal. the scary part is that they shut off when you hit the pedal and then come back on about 5 seconds later. i saw on the web that there is a known problem with corrosion on the bcm connections. there was a recall for previous years and gm has issued a technical service bulletin on how to fix it because there have been so many problems and complaints. i am going to try a quick fix i found on the pontiac g6 forum before i have to take it to a dealer and spend my own money on an obvious defect.

2009 pontiac g6 low beam headlight failure: "unable to find the problem" as beams work intermittently; my local mechanic replaced left light bulb, but referred me back to dealership as "this was a known defect in this car." replaced light bulb (repaired (mechanic was unsure, but replaced anyway) and low beams worked a couple of days, now one (right more randomly left), and sometime both low beams fail intermittently. my wife has received one warning from police; headlight was working again when she restarted car after the warning. with increasing frequency both low beam head lights fail while driving at night. these random failures in low beam illumination requires the driver (my wife usually) to immediately switch on high beams. both high beam lights are working at this time, but these events tend to infuriate oncoming drivers who high beam back at us, so both drivers are blinded. in my opinion, this vehicle is unsafe to drive at any speed at night or in the rain due to random low beam headlight outages. therefore, we use of the g6 is limited. though we like the model and had hoped for several more years of use, my wife does not trust the lights will stay on at night, or when it rains. i feel bad about dumping this car on the used/pre-owned car market without filing some form of official complaint. from a brief internet search, the manufacturer (gm) appears to be ignoring this safety issue as a statistically insignificant problem. sadly, gm will continue to do so until people die and a class action suit is filed. i would not call the pontiac g6 a lemon, it is just plain too scary to drive under certain conditions. there does not appear to be a solution coming from gm and my mechanic can't fix it. this situation makes this vehicle useless and unsafe half the time, i.e., unsafe at any speed after dark!

when traveling above about 10 mph the brake lights came on and the cruise control no longer worked. when the brake pedal was depressed, the brake lights went out until the car slowed to about 10 mph at which point the brake lights came back on. braking was normal at all times. when pulling away from the stop, the brake lights came back on again around 10 mph. the car consistently did this over a trip of about 60 miles. when i took the car into the dealer, the issue wasn't present. the dealer replaced the brake switch and lubricated a connection. the issue has returned 2 days later. this issue could become dangerous especially during braking above 10 mph when following vehicles would not be aware that the car was braking.

i bought a used 2009 pontiac g6 with 90,000 thousand miles on it. i have had it for a 1 year and 2 months before i started having problems. it all started message saying "check your gas cap". i would pull over and check gas cap it was vaporized. i opened and reclosed this was about 5 minutes from my house it takes 15 minutes to get to from house to town. within 10 minutes my gas tank would wad up like a plastic bottle and when i would turn car off at work you could hear it un folding. this went on for 2 days then on the 2nd time my check engine came on i called and took to a dealership close to me. they told me it was the carbon canister it was going to cost 700.00 to fix. i did not have the money so i drove for a few weeks longer then my car was die when you go to stop at red lights or slow down. both times semi trucks were behind me. the second time it did i called my husband crying said i was too scared to drive my car with me or my son in it. so i called the dealership where i bought the car and took to them to be fixed this was in september. they kept the car a week changed carbon filter and fixed speed cable this was making the car die. i got my car back drove from dealership and started to drive home when i noticed car still not fixed it was saying i had no gas so put gas in and it said i had 183 miles worth of gas by the time i got home i had 134 miles of gas left. i had called dealership to let them know that something was not right so in less then 24 hours took my car back to dealership and they kept it a week saying gas tank need to be replaced so they replaced it and replaced carbon filter again. now the car works fine just wandering how long before it acts up again. i called pontiac headquarters in all this time and they told me there was no recall and that there was nothing that they can do to help with the problem because i did not have any warranty.

brake lights came on automatically and stayed on until brake pedal was pressed. upon going out, they would come back on in under a minute. i have had this happen before about a year ago and was told by the same dealership the first time it was the sensor casing. it was resealed and problem stopped. this time i was told resistance in bcm connectors. they cleaned and lube the terminals in both bcm connectors and reset bpp sensor. yet i was charged this time eventhough it was the same issue reported. the service dept rep said it was a different fix and therefore not the same. i know this must be a defect because i have read other with the same issue.

drivers side low beam light went out. i replaced and a week later it went out again. i replaced that one and about two weeks later it went out again. both replaced bulbs were not burnt out. the low beams both work when i remote start my vehicle. once i get in and turn on the key with the vehicle already running, the headlight goes out. every once in a while, while driving, my headlights will randomly come on and go off again. i have researched and read multiple reports of the same issue that this is a wiring problem and a fire hazard. something needs to be done about this before someone gets hurt or there is a fatal accident. not only is this a fire hazard, but intermittently working headlights could cause accidents if randomly going out. it is clearly a safety hazard and pontiac should be held accountable for this problem.

less than a month ago i replaced my passenger side headlight. this week it went out again. i have already had to replace the driver side light about three times. i bought this car brand new. i changed the fuse for the headlight and it did not solve the issue. two days ago my tail light stopped working. the following day it worked in the morning and stopped working in the afternoon. after finding so many complaints on different forums online i'm not sure how gm can not be recalling these vehicles for this problem. i have already gotten pulled over and told that i would be cited the next time. i am afraid that the driver side headlight will go out before i can get the passenger side fixed. oh yes and my lock chamber on my passenger side back door has gone out. i had the driver side back door fixed when my car was under warranty however, i am on a tight budget and cannot afford to pay over $300 for the dealership to fix this. apparently this is also a problem with the g6. i am nervous to drive my car (that is not even 5 years old mind you) at night!

i have a 2009 pontiac g6 gt. since the time that we have bought our car we have had nothing but problems with the passenger side headlight. we have replaced the pigtails and all the wiring. we replaced the bulb every few weeks for it to only burn out a few days later. no one can tell us why this problem can not be fixed. there have been hundreds maybe thousand of complaints on online forums about headlight problems and even fire and melting of the housing. i am constantly pulled over due to the headlight being out. this is an extremely dangerous issue that needs to be addressed. without properly working headlights people are going to get seriously injured or kill someone because we can't see properly.

while operating vehicle, brake lights work the opposite of what they should. they are on when the pedal is not depressed and go off when the pedal is depressed. i spent ~$300 having the brake pedal position sensor diagnosed and it turns out that the bcm (body control module) has corrosion and required dielectric paste to correct the issue. approximately 14 months later the problem returned and i had a mechanic check for recall and he found a tech bulletin describing exactly this maintenance procedure. they performed it and the problem was corrected but this needs to be 100% corrected as someone is going to get killed. searching forums online i see that this problem is far more common that one would think and this should be addressed immediately.

tl* the contact owns a 2009 pontiac g6. the contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle exhibited a loud and abnormal popping noise. the vehicle then veered to the right and traveled over a curb. the contact sustained injuries to the head and back. a police report was not filed. the contact soon discovered that passenger�s side rear tire had failed. the vehicle was towed to the dealer where the technician diagnosed that the transmission, transmission pin, cv joint, wheel alignment and axle had to be replaced. the vehicle was also leaking transmission fluid. the vehicle was not repaired. the manufacturer was not made aware of the problem. the approximate failure mileage was 90,000.

power steering no longer works and warning on it comes up on display. there is many complaints for this failure has been reported. my wife and i would not have bought this car if we would have been told about it ahead of time. gm does have a recall on other models of similar vehicles. my would have been in a accident if she would have been driving at the time. she drives this car most of the time. i can understand a failure on a part with high mileage but they have been having issues with this part. i have driven many cars with hydraulic power steering with mileage much higher miles and never had a problem. the repair is very pricey to fix. i believe this problem is very dangerous and they are deceiving the public for not fixing it and reporting it to buyers.

i have 2009 pontiac and i have replaced the headlight like five times still doesn't work were i live i see alot of the same car with the same problem. i already had the latch for shifter replaced cause it went out while i was driving seeing all the things that can go wrong as the post of everybody with headlight brakes the engine i think the whole car should be recall before alot of people get hurt its a death trap all kind of things wrong with this car and in this day and time people don't have the money to keep fixing a car that has so many problems not by wear and tear but by not properly putting it together my car was 16,000 dollars and to pay that much and have so many problems is ridiculous.

i purchased this car in summer 2013. it was fine for a couple months then the cruise control started going out and the esc and traction control would code at the same time. i searched on the internet and found the gm service bulletin that said to remove the connectors from the computer and apply dialectic grease due to corrosion. this would work 30 to 60 days then i would have to apply more grease. before christmas i was driving home at night and noticed that my brake lights were stuck on. i found that this would often happen at the same time that the other problems would code and other times the brake lights would just come on. i have applied grease several times this winter and it doesn't work anymore. the esc and traction control code at random times, and the cruise control becomes inoperable. the air bag light is now on and stays on. these are all annoying but the issue that scares me is the brake lights coming on at random times when i don't touch the brake pedal. that is obviously unsafe and i would hope that gm would step up and fix it. they wouldn't have issued the service bulletin if they didn't know there was a problem, and the dealership i purchased it from had smeared the connectors heavy with grease so they must have read the service bulletin too.

initially power steering worked on and off sporadically. when power steering was working, steering wheel shook uncontrollably and caused the wheel to steer in unintended directions. when power steering is not working, light comes on and steering is almost impossible. power steering would cease in the middle of driving causing a very dangerous situation. a week later, power steering does not work at all. gm states there are no recalls. the steering column has a recall in older models with the exact same issue, however, gm refuses to acknowledge. this issue is very dangerous and requires immediate attention. estimated cost for repair: $1,200.00.

i see that there is a recall for this very issue for years thru 2008. my brake lights are on when not braking and off when braking and of course the cruise control will not work during this issue. i see many complaints about this and i find it so hard to understand how this cannot be a safety issue and recalled to fix. i have almost been rearended many times and am wondering if someone has to be involved in a fatal accident before the nhsta forced the expansion of the recall to include all years that are having this issue.

my 2009 pontiac g6 low beam head light problem began a few days ago. my drivers side low beam went out, so i bought a new one and put it in only for my wife to call me at 5:30 this morning to tell me both the lights went out on her as she was driving to work. how safe is this? i can't get them to work and i don't know what to do. i tried replacing them again at $25 a piece and they still don't work.this seems to be a problem with this car as i see it posted all over the internet. can we get a recall or something or does it take a few deaths before someone will investigate?
