when slowing to a stop after a long (2 hours) period of driving at highway speeds, the car could not then accelerate after a stop. the rpms would rev to between 2-3,000 but the car would not accelerate for a few seconds. in intersections, this was dangerous because it could cause an accident. the car only has 500 miles on it. an initial trip to the dealership said that there were no codes and no problem. on the return trip, after an extended highway drive, the same problem occurred. the car is unsafe to drive in its current condition and is going back to the dealership tomorrow.

nissan rouge 2010 - it has only been 5 months since i bought a brand new rogue 2010 from victory nissan chesapeake. i received a recall card from them regarding a throttle noise. i took my car for change oil and the nissan service did a reprogram to eliminate the noise. the noise had lessened. thinking that it is a brand new car, i did an observation and waited for my second change oil and complained about the noise in my car again and the brake that felt like it's losing a thread when you step on it. after my change oil, i was told that my transmission needs to be replaced. however, the dealer has to order it and will call me back in 2-3 days. a week had passed and i did not receive a call. i called nissan usa to complain about the service and i have been driving this car knowing that there is a problem and have complained about the break and the transmission. i called back again and the service agent just told me that the transmission is not yet in. i was driving in the rain when the accelerator just kept going even if i was not pressing on it. i was concerned and took the car back to the dealer and was given a rental car. i bought a fully loaded car but was given a lemon car. i could've been dead by now if i am still driving that car for who knows what will happen next if the accelerator and brake will not be controlled. i kept calling nissan but i did not receive any response. one of the sales in the dealer told me that this was the 3rd rogue 2010 transmission problem that was reported in the same place. a very unsat costumer service and dealer services by letting an unsafe car to be on the road!

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

after a period of highway driving (1+ hour), vehicle will not accelerate after coming to a stop. when stopping the first time after driving at highway speeds, vehicle will accelerate s-l-o-w-l-y when gas pedal is pressed to floor. rpm's will increase to 2000-3000 and the vehicle will reach approximately 15 mph after 5-8 seconds. once the vehicle reaches approximately 15 mph it seems to "kick into gear" and will accelerate normally from that point. this event happens virtually every time after driving at highway speed for a period of time and stopping after exiting the highway, or stopping on the highway due to traffic congestion.

over the weekend of october 16th, i drove my 2010 nissan rogue from md to williamsburg, va and back. my family was almost killed in a car crash because the nissan rogue failed to properly accelerate on a busy intersection. for the rest of the weekend it failed to accelerate a total of 4 more times coming from a complete stop. if i drive the car for more than 2 hours on highway and come to a complete stop, the car will not accelerate properly, it takes about 5-6 seconds to reach a speed of about 10mph. the next day, the vehicle was working fine. i took the vehicle to the nissan dealer and they could not duplicate the problem. they were not getting any codes from the computer. they kept the vehicle overnight and had a technician drive it back and forth from work to home and back to work but they could not duplicate the problem. after checking the odometer, the computer’s mph average speed and the area where the car was driven, turns out that the vehicle was not driven on highway for more than 2 hours, it was stop and go driving. the vehicle has to be driven on highway continuously for more than 2 hours for this problem to occur. this is a serious safety hazard. i never know if my family will loose their lives on the next busy intersection. there are many reports on the internet about this problem taking place al over the nation. nissan has not posted any bulletins or recalls in this matter but something has to be done now before there is a casualty on the road. do we have to wait for someone to die before nissan acknowledges that there is a serious problem?

the nissan rogue gas gauge does not register gas usage correctly. the car can be driven 100 - 200 miles and gas gauge shows a full tank. the gas gauge is not consistently off by same quantity either, so actual gas in the car is not predictable. it fails to work correctly during any normal car usage. problem was first noticed 1 month after purchase. took to dealer and was told there was no issue in 9/2/10. on 11/18/10 my rogue ran out of gas in rush hour traffic when the gauge still showed 3 gallons of gas! took car in again in 1/31/11 was told gas sending unit was faulty and had part replaced 3/26/11. on 5/13/11 gas gauge shows full after driving 130 miles and car takes 6.5 gal of gas. on 5/28/11 returned to dealer, they ordered another new sending unit and a new pump.

from day one i have had nothing but problems out of my rogue. it won't crank half the time and then it started stalling on the interstate. while trying to go over hills or trying to accelerate the rpms would rev up but the vehicle would lose speed. i would start out going over a hill doing 75 mph and by the time i reached the top of the hill i was doing 60 mph. the car actually stalled in the middle of a four way intersection and after being driven for 30 or so miles the vehicle would start missing on the interstate. i brought the vehicle to the dealership and the transmission was replaced. this has solved the speed control/stalling problem, but the new transmission doesn't want to shift gears. i was told this was an upgraded transmission with two gears and that it would shift different from a regular transmission.

i was driving when i suddenly noticed that the air conditioning was not working properly then the engine spluttered and the vehicle slowed and i had to turn on the hazard lights to prevent an accident. i parked on the roadside when able to and shut off the engine. after a couple of minutes, i restarted the engine and regained speed but the air conditioning was not responsive however within a few minutes the engine spluttered again and had to park and called for roadside assistance. the diagnosis from nissan was that the radiator had a "hole" in it and warranty did not cover as the mileage had exceeded 36,000. i was puzzled why the radiator of a relatively new car without any forewarning would develop this kind of problem and i was not prepared to pay the high repair cost, which convinced there may be something wrong with the radiator from the manufacturer.

i took a trip to chicago going through the mountains in tennessee. as i was going up the mountain my 2010 nissan rogue begin to slow down, disengage from my cruise control no matter how hard i press the petal my car would not go any faster. this occurs through out the trip to chicago and later to north carolina. before taking the trips i had my ctv light come on and the car would almost cut off or stall when i came to a stop. i took that in to my nissan person who fix that problem but could not fix my new problem but referred me to my dealer. he stated that nissan was having problems with the cvt transmission and had extended the warranty up to 120,000.00. i have taken the car in to the dealers but they would only drive it around the block, no light would come, no code to fix. please refer to the information provided by edmund .com concerning the cvt transmission problems with the nissan 2010 rouge. there are two service bulletin that show this problem only occurs on long distance travel. unfortunately , nissan recommend that i continue to drive the car putting my life and family at danger until the problem occurs, only if there is a light come on then bring it in to them to fix. this is a huge safety issue, they do not want to fix the problem because the problem is the cvt new transmission. i am suppose to continue to drive and make my monthly payment even though there is a serious defect with this car. i want nissan to purchase back this car at fair market value and i would like to see my government recall these cars before someone dies.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

i took it out of town on a business trip 200 miles from home..only to have it start acting up about 2hours from my destination. going up hills, my car lost power, would no longer go above 60mph(not too safe loosing power like that when the speed limit is 75mph). you could push the accelerator all the way to the floor, and the car would not accelerate anymore..and the rpm's would not exceed 2. this happened 2 times in the next 2 hours...would last about 12-20 minutes, and then, power would come back, this same thing happened 5 more times in my next to trips, i took the car to the dealer and they blamed nissan for the type of transmission use in this type of cars. this is not safe. in all the times i lost power going up-hill, and in those occasions there was someone behind me. every time had to quick swerve around me, to avoid rear-ending me at 75mph, as i lost power down to -60mph.

my car was parked in the driveway. i had arrived home at 3:30pm on a saturday. the next morning at 10:00am, i went to my car to find that something had exploded inside. there had been a significant amount of fire damage to the front passenger's side, including the glove compartment, the dash, and the location of the airbag. my best guess as to what happened is that the airbag exploded (not deployed), causing a fire, which damaged the electrical system, and caused a lot of cosmetic damage. there is no evidence of the airbag, other than some springs, it does not look like it simply deployed. the insurance company has deemed it a total loss. i feel that this is something that nissan should cover, not me or my insurance company. but i cannot determine what actually happened or how to pursue legal action against them. thankfully, no one was injured. i have no idea why the dire was self-contained, and the entire car didn't explode.

the car suddenly lost power while driving on highway route 46 in little falls, nj during rush hour traffic. luckily the it happened while in the right lane so my wife was able to get off the road quickly but had no forward power. the car was towed to acme nissan in south brunswick, nj where it was diagnosed with a failed transfer case and transmission. my wife's commute is rather far at 80+ miles round trip a day but it is almost all on highways. for a car to have a complete failure of the transmission at speed on a crowded highway wat this age/mileage out of the blue is completely unsafe.

the first incident took place on 06/03/13, the second incident on 08/24/13 and the third incident on 12/22/13. all 3 incidents were road trips where the problem appeared on the interstate after having been driving for about an hour and a half or so. the problem was that when at highway speeds of ~70-80 mph, the vehicle would no longer accelerate even when the gas pedal was pressed to the floor. the first incident happened while the cruise control was engaged but the 2nd and 3rd incidents occurred with and without cruise control engaged. on the 2nd and 3rd incidents, when we exited the highway and came to a traffic light we also experienced an acceleration issue when starting from a stopped position. in these instances, i pushed the gas pedal but the car did not move forward, for a couple of seconds, and then sputtered before finally accelerating normally. after the second incident i researched the problem, online, and saw numerous posts with other rogue owners having similar if not identical problems. i planned to take it to the dealership but, since the problem never occurred on local/in-town driving, i procrastinated. after this latest incident i took the vehicle to our dealer - autonation nissan pembroke pines - on 12/24/2013. i reported the problem to jay, our service advisor, who had a technician check out the car. he said a transmission code, , came up in the diagnostic and they recommended replacement of the transmission. however, nissan instituted a new policy on that date which required the dealership replicate the problem before nissan would authorize the replacement. the dealer could not replicate the problem with local driving and would not allow a tech to take it on a long trip. i called nissan consumer affairs but they were no help. the end result is that i have a car that has not been repaired & that i can't drive on long trips.

is nissan the next toyota?? we were pulling out of a shopping center and the vehicle failed to properly accelerate. the gas pedal was pushed to the floor, acceleration was at minimum and the rpms revved up extremely high. thank goodness no one hit us. finally, the gear caught and all was well. it seemed like the transmission may have slipped. then we got to my parents' home and parked. then we went to move out of park and the gears wouldn't change (automatic cvt transmission). we had the vehicle towed to the nearest certified nissan repair facility. in the meanwhile, i located information on nissan's website regarding the warranty on the transmission and found that nissan extended the warranty from 5 years/60,000 miles to 10 years/120,000 miles for 'customer satisfaction' purposes and here is the information about that http://www.nissanassist.com/web/cvt/programdetails.php?menu=9 and the vehicles that are included in the issue are located here http://www.nissanassist.com/web/cvt/vehicles.php?menu=11 so the dealership calls us on june 23 to advise they could not replicate the issue with the transmission and the problem with getting the vehicle out of park was an electronic issue. i am not a mechanic but it does seem strange that we would have experienced the first issue, then the vehicle wouldn't come out of park? i spoke with regional specialists at nissan north america and was told that if the mechanics cannot replicate, then no repair will be authorized under the warranty and that the likely cause of my issue was dirty transmission fluid. i feel this is a huge safety issue because if you pull out into traffic, expecting your vehicle to go and it doesn't, someone is eventually going to get seriously injured!

while driving down the road i all of a sudsen heard a loud smashing sound. the car seized up and the wheels locked. thankfully i was not on the highway or i would have been killed!! the car was towed and the diagnoses indicated that the u joint had sheared off the drive shaft and pulled out the shifter cable. the entire drive shaft and shifter cable needed to replaced at a cost of 1400$. the car was only four years old and is regularly maintained. in fact during the month of june the car had been to inskip nissan for a oil change and multi point inspection and to a local garge for a state of ri safety and emissions inspection.

first off, there was not an accident...but there surely would be if this car were to be driven in its present state. essentially, catastrophic failure of the cvt (transmission), so that, when sitting at a stop light, stepping on the accelerator would result in increase in rpm but no forward motion at first. it might eventually engage, but operation is totally unpredictable. even though this is a well known issue and nissan did double the warrantee they failed to notify owners claiming that because it wasn't a recall, it was not required. vehicle is currently 10,000 miles outside the *new* warrantee mileage limit, but had owner been notified about this impending failure, repairs could have been effected inside the warrantee period. nissan has declined to offer any assistance whatsoever, but does hope that we have "a nice day". will it take loss of life or limb for nissan to "do the right thing"?

while driving our nissan rogue on the highway the vehicle begins to decelerate even with the accelerator fully engaged. our vehicle has gone from 70mph to 10mph on the highway several times. there is clearly a problem with the transmission. the nissan dealership keeps telling us we need to do a full transmission fluid flush on the vehicle every year. we paid to have this done in august of 2013 when it first started happening and it still continues to happen. we are scared to drive the vehicle as it seems very dangerous to go from highway speeds to barely being able to roll into a parking long within a matter of minutes.

as my son and i went on a day trip with my sister and nieces to the ocean my car decreased speed from 75 mph to 30 real quick people behind us swerved off of the road avoiding hitting us. i pushed the gas pedal all the way down and the car would not even accelerate. i had to stop at a gas station so i coud call someone to let them know of the car problems i was having. i took back roads home because i did not feel the car is safe for us. i am disappointed that it is doing this as i have only had it since 2010.

after driving 45 minutes on the interstate highway, i exited the highway and pulled into a state highway to continue my trip. after proceeding from the stop sign at the off ramp, i was nearly in an accident because the vehicle failed to accelerate properly. i placed the acceleration pedal to the floor and the vehicle would not go any faster to clear the intersection. oncoming traffic had to slam on their brakes i. order to avoid a collision. it is not safe to have a vehicle doing that. this has happened several other times.

i purchased a car from gwinnett place nissan in november 2013. in may of 2014 while driving my children to disney the car started to decrease in speed. i was driving at 75 mph and without warning the car started decreasing in speed. my car went from 75 to 40 in a matter of minutes. although i had the gas pedal all the way to the floor, it wouldn't pick up any speed. thank god there wasn't any accident. i've spoken to nissan about this many times and no one seems to be handling this problem. what will it take for nissan to recognize and fix this issue. a fatal accident?

going at freeway speed...could not accelerate, neither to pass nor to recover from having to slow down for traffic. when pressing down the gas pedal, nothing happened: no acceleration and no increase in rpm. first time it happened, i was going up a hill. now it happens any time i have been driving for 30 minutes or more, flat road or incline. the car does fine initially and during normal stop and go city driving for short durations. thought perhaps it was a clogging in fuel injectors, so cleaned them out to no avail. dealer says they "can find nothing wrong." this is a dangerous flaw that needs to be corrected by nissan!!!!

ENGINE

the first incident happened last summer. while going up a hill at 75mph (speed limit in that state), the cruise control cut off, and vehicle lost power, and rpm's would not exceed 2500 rpm and would not go over 60mph, which every time i hit a hill, would decrease to 40mph. this happened 3 times in the next two hours, where rpm's would not exceed 2500 rpm, which is very dangerous when semi-trucks are behind you. a search online stated this was the transmission going into fail-safe mode, although the dealership stated no, because a code would come back. for almost a year, i would not take my car out of town for work, for fear this would happen again. decided to take it on a long road trip this august, and again, the same incident occurred. this time, the only way to get rpm's and mph's back, was to pull over and let the car sit for 20 minutes or so. it would then drive normal for anywhere from 30 min-1 hour, before loosing power again. took it into dealership upon arriving home, and this time, there is a bulletin for the transmission fluid overheating, and it needs a cooler, to the tune of $1,400 and is 2 months backordered. i was told this problem would only occur on long road trips, and i would be fine taking it on a 5 hr trip that weekend. come 3 days later, 45 minutes into the trip, the cruise control cut off, began blinking, check engine light came on, and rpm's decreased to btwn 2000-2500. pulled over to let it cool, and then it would not accelerate over 40mph on the highway. decided to turn back around, and 3 times on the way home (appx. every 15 minutes), i lost all power. the car was still running, but the rpm's would not go over 0, and the car would not move. had to let it sit for 15-20 minutes each time, and then was able to drive 15 min, before loosing all power again. took it into auto shop, and code reads, "p1778", which is "step-motor malfunction".
