ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:COOLING SYSTEM:RADIATOR ASSEMBLY

early on a saturday morning, i was driving on a relatively traffic free l.a. freeway. i happened to look down and notice the check engine light on and the temp gauge pegged. there was no other indication of a problem. fortunately i was able to get off the freeway before the car stalled. upon inspection a small hole was found in the front of the radiator. the problem seems to be a large grill opening with no screen or other protection. normally the radiator is protected by the ac cooler. but in the case of the endeavor, an inch of cheap fragile aluminum radiator is left exposed to even the slightest of road debris. since the stopping of a vehicle on a crowded freeway could result in a serious accident this needs to be corrected by the manufacturer. radiator was replaced at customer?s expense. *jb *sc

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING:COOLING SYSTEM:RADIATOR ASSEMBLY

road debris caused a complete failure of my radiator because it is poorly designed with no protection from the front of the vehicle. there is no grill protection in front of the radiator so stones and debris are free to hit the radiator directly and puncture the tubing. this happened to me on 09-22-05. it will cost me $650 for a newly installed radiator from mitsubishi. the problem i am having is the design flaw which leads to safety issues. i am not guaranteed this won't happen again after my new radiator is installed because mitsubishi does not make an accessory to fix the design flaw. this is a safety issue because it will most likely happen on the highway at higher speeds, not city driving. mitsubishi should be made aware of this complaint immediately. *nm

we noticed that the engine was smelling hot, but no warning lights were on, so we made an appointment with a mitsubishi dealer, while driving it into the shop it began to overheat. after stopping several times to cool off the engine we made it to the dealer only for the car to just then get a check engine light on and stall completely out. we then found out that it was a hole in the radiator and was not covered under the power train warranty. we could not afford the 630 dollars that they wanted to charge us so we decided to have a known mechanic do the work. when the radiator was pulled out we found that since the air conditioning and coolant was behind the radiator it caused rubbing on the bottom of the radiator causing a small pin hole to be rubbed into it. we are working on having it repaired with a licensed radiator shop and replacing. the issue with us is that if the air conditioning continues to rub it will cause more holes and more problems.

the paint on my mitsubishi endeavor 04, has all this oxidation going on on the roof and the window panels. i investigated this after taking my car back to dennis mitsubishi and having them tell me they will paint the spots that are bad but not my whole car. i found out that there are thousands of people with mitsubishi's that are having the exact same problem and the corporate office is just ignoring the problem that they know is the car makers error. they used bad paint coating on all the vehicles and they will not come out and admit that they are wrong. it is so awful to treat their customers this way and i can not believe they are allowed to just get away with it. something should be done, they should have to recall these cars. i am not the only one sitting around shaking my head at this. if anyone types in mitsubishi paint in there search engine you will see the number of incidents on many different web sites. this is just so wrong.

due to a faulty a.c. filter material, the air condition drain duct is obstructed. the faulty material breaks down and hinders the ability of the condensation to drain outside of the suv. the water has no where to go and leaks into the interior floor board and saturates the carpet and interior components of the car. the water also becomes trapped in a pocket or area of the floorboard and cant drain outside. this problem results in a mold developing and can or will be harmful when exposed to prolong periods! we have had the drain line cleaned out on three separate occasions, at our own expense and the issue keeps recurring? the repair shop states the deteriorated filter material continues to break apart and become lodged in the drain line. mitsubishi has yet to have a recall on this issue and their remedy is to bring it in to the dealership for a repair charge that is expensive, unaffordable and unreasonable! we are having breathing difficulties due to the obnoxious and possibly toxic mold smell. we need the car for transportation back and forth to our jobs and have no choice as we need to pay our bills! surely if this was a minor repair cost we would have corrected it due to the possibly harmful nature, however the repair cost is unaffordable. considering this is a possible safety issue, we would appreciate and feel it necessary to investigate this issue and have the manufacturer correct it. we are aware of the economic hardship that is effecting everyone and are concerned, however insurance and safety of occupants should be upheld above any circumstance! certain molds are proven to be harmful or fatal. thank you

i noticed water dropping from under the drivers dashboard occasionally and thought it was condensation/sweating in july 2010. this year on vacation i noticed the carpet was full of water on the drivers side including the rear floorboard with mildew growing every where. this is my wife's vehicle , so i don't drive it very often. she had bronchitis for two and a half months this spring that could not be explained that three different kinds of antibiotics, steroids, and a nebulizer machine couldn't make her better. now i know what caused her prolonged illness, driving her car every day with mildew under the floor mats and in the air. my whole family has either allergies, asthma or both. after we returned from vacation i googled for a answer to find where the condensation tube was located to clear it and possibly stop it from leaking inside.much to my surprise the internet search resulted with a bevy of complaints about the very same problem ! i read forums, articles, and complaints with the end result that mitsubishi was charging $1000.00 to fix. since then they issued a service bulletin on how to repair the problem with out taking the whole a/c unit out. there is a tsb report # 09-55-002 on the problem with the findings that insulation used in the housing falls apart and clogs the drain inside the housing.the design of the a/c condenser inside the vehicle is asking for leaks and problems. i can't expose my family to mold and mildew every time the a/c is used. the water in the carpet smells very bad and will rust the floorboards and the frame of the truck! this makes the problem two fold. the rust is a safety issue and the mold is a severe health issue for people especially with respiratory problems. i am very upset and will be contacting the mitsubishi regional service rep. for the washington d.c. area. please recall! many more can't or won't complain! thank you.....

my vehicle is 2004 endeavor, problem first noticed early oct 2010. driver side floorboard and rear passenger floorboard completely soaked with water. water is coming underneath floor board from ac due to improper drainage. this is a major heath concern there needs to be recalled. after researching on the internet i found that this is a common problem with the endeavor and part needed to repair problem is not expensive but labor is so expensive because of difficulty in getting to problem area. this is definitely a design problem and we as consumers should not have to be overcharged for the repair, which according to dealer cost around 1000.00 . this is unrealistic. they present economy is bad enough without being ripped out my mitsubishi. i needed my car to get to work because this is my only source of transportation. i have no choice but to deal this soggy floor, mold, mildew, bad smell and not to mention health concerns.

blown engine on a well maintained, single owner 2004 mitsubishi endeavor with under 70,000 miles. at 55mph and without any prior warning (e.g. no warning lights on dash or changes in dashboard gauges), the car made an extremely loud noise (almost high revving like), became difficult to steer and rapidly was losing power. the battery light came on followed by the "service engine soon" and while the car would turn over and start the noise became louder and the car would stall out. after being towed to the garage, the car would not start at all and i was informed that the engine was blown. my mechanic also noticed that my driver side floor mat was soaked which i had actually noticed 2 weeks prior when was cleaning my car but had thought that i had accidentally gotten it wet during the washing process. given that we have had no rain since then nor had i washed the car since 2 weeks prior, it was clear that this was not an issue of getting it wet. my mechanic then said that of the 6 2004/2005 endeavors that he has repaired in the past year, he had seen the same issue and while some resolved with the unblocking of some line that had to do with the ac he also noted that the others required a much more extensive and costly repair due to the heating element which could cause the engine issue. he also noted that each of the endeavors with the soaked driver side mat issue had also lost their radios. ironically my radio had just gone out the week prior (it comes on as if it is working but no sound out of the speakers) & i had made an appt with mitsubishi to resolve. the more i read online the more i see the same issues that i and my mechanic have noted therefore it seems like there is clearly a very costly pattern of problems with this particular line/year of mits vehicles. given that i bought my car new in jan 2005 and serviced it accordingly, this issue seems suspect.

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING

the a/c drain tube leaks and causes water to pool up on the driver's side floorboard underneath the carpeting. i have had the vehicle looked at two times and all they can do is blow the tube out, which only temporarily fixes the problem. it is recommended to have the dash removed in order to get to the box where the debris is located to repair the seal. i don't have hundreds of dollars to have this done, nor can i do without my vehicle for several days! this should be made a recall because it becomes not only a safety hazard, but also a health hazard. the water makes the floorboard wet, causes the windows to fog up on the inside and causes the flooring under the carpeting to possibly become corroded. plus, it causes mold to grow which makes my allergies flair up. so, mitsubishi if you read this, please consider recalling all endeavors to fix this problem!!

UNKNOWN OR OTHER

driver side floor stays sopping wet. i am assuming this is from the ac drain hose. mechanics want $700-1000 to attempt to fix the problem, but say there are no guarantees as this has been an ongoing defect with the 2004 endeavor. this raises several safety issues with main one being that feet are wet and slippery and likely to cause being unable to brake as needed due to foot slipping off pedal. other safety concerns are in regards to the mold due to being unable to keep it dry. please recall this and have it fixed as it should be. the consumer should not have to absorb this cost when it is a defect that should not have occurred.
