honda crosstour Problems

honda crosstour 2013 Complaints

SEATS

note: this in reference to the honda crosstour which is not listed in your drop down . the head restraint is badly proportioned--with any adjustment of the seat or restraint it forces my forward and down--this was not noticeable in the short test drive but only during a longer drive --after a fairly short time i developed a very painful neck and it got worse with time.. i have contacted the dealer but they did not offer any solution to the problem other than to adjust the seat. tried that until i had exhausted all possible positions with no acceptable relief, they did admit there have been "a few" such complaints. i also called american honda--the reception was friendly and the person i talked to was concerned but stated she was not aware of any problems as i described. after some research i find this has been an ongoing problem foe some time and includes prior model years and other models. i do believe a rather minor modification could provide the relief needed and still be within the 50mm clearance that is allowed.

POWER TRAIN

hesitation: when trying to accelerate, after stopping, in many instances there is a very pronounced hesitation before the car starts forward. this is a real problem when attempting to merge into traffic or accelerate from a stop sign or traffic light. there is a safety problem when pressing on the accelerator and it takes several seconds for the car to start moving.

ENGINE

when stopped at intersection and taking foot off brake to proceed, occasionally car will not move forward with moderate gas pedal pressure. backing off the gas slightly gets car going forward. engine does not quit during these episodes, it just will not move car unless gas pedal position is changed by backing off a little. this can be very panic-inducing when timing cross-traffic for a crossing or merge.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

at low speed the vehicle hesitates before accelerating. first noticed problem in mall parking lots. when i attempted to slowly maneuver the vehicle, the vehicle failed to respond to the gas pedal. if you continue to apply the gas, the vehicle would lunge forward, almost spinning the front wheels. yesterday i made a right turn on to a busy road, and the vehicle just died. with a garbage truck fast approaching i continued to apply the gas, and the vehicle finally accelerated.

this has been going on since i bought the car in october 2013 and continues to date. when stopped at intersection and moderately accelerate, the car doesn't move. it cause you to panic and accelerate harder and then the car jerks and takes off too fast. it's almost like when you take the foot off the brake and accelerate the gears slip and when it grabs it jerks and accelerates abruptly. this is nerve racking when trying to time cross traffic to cross intersection or merging into traffic. not a very secure feeling.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER

when we first purchased this 2013 honda we loved it as it is a beautiful car. my husband and i started noticing a hesitation when stepping down on gas pedal to move across oncoming traffic into the right hand lane making a left turn. the hesitation became frightening. the service department manager explained to me that this was normal for honda as it was a transition period while checking traction. we see it as dangerous. now that we own the car since 3/7/14 we need to know what our options are. do we have to wait until there is an accident?
