1. noticed when drove off of the lot of the dealer. i thought that it was just more power with the vehicle because it is a v-6, which i am not familiar with. 2. there is a hard shift from 1st to 2nd gear, which you can feel underneath your feet, almost like an annoying vibration. 3. i took it to the dealer and they had no idea what it was. they then wanted to disconnect the abs to see if it could clear the problem, but it was just a test, i have no idea how that would remedy the problem.*ak

the jacks that honda provide for its 2005 honda is not safe the system is a knuckle busting experierience and the jack will not hold the vehicle. it takes a lot longer to move the damaged tire from the vehicle. why is it not a law that all car manufacturers are required to use a full size spare and a floor style jack i work in the automotive field and i know how to use a jack. *ak

michelin, mxv4 energy saver, p205/60r16, dot#b97rftwx3804. while driving 70 mph both sides of the tire blew out. the tread wear on the tire was approximately 1485 miles. consumer had the tire evaluated by honda, sears, and tire kingdom. there were no punctures, nails, or anything to indicate that there was a puncture. when the tire was evaluated from the inside one could see the rubber peeling away from the tire. the whole layer of inside rubber was moving away from the tire. *ak

POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:GEAR POSITION INDICATION (PRNDL)

i own both a 2004 accord ex v6 coupe and now a 2005 ex v6 sedan with automatic transmissions. transmission gear shifter completely misses the "d" postition and moves into "d3" when shifting from either "park or neutral modes", as though that is the correct position to operate the vehicle when driving! this is not a normal condition to operate a vehicle. there is no significant "detent" position to secure the shifter into the "d" postion. it simple slips by the "d" mode right into "d3"! every other auto transmission car i've owned required extra effort to bypass the "drive" position to place the shifter into another(lower) gear setting. operating either oy my vehicles in this manner may eventually cause significant damage to the transmission, engine or both. it may even cause some unforeseen transmission behavior affecting drivability.honda customer service was contacted and their suggestion was to be "more careful" in selecting the gear shifter position. that does not sound like a very substantial solution to an obvious mechanical problem (short coming). *ak

julie was driving home from work in her new 2005 honda accord coupe when her right front wheel came apart. luckily, the failure did not cause any injuries or deaths, however, she was traveling at a high rate of speed consistent with the roadway she was driving on and the car swerved to the right and she had a hard time stoping the car since the brakes had been damaged. the parts and pieces from her wheel caused two other cars to be damamged, by flat tires. the reason for filing this complaint is two fold; (1) to protect anyone else that may have this problem and to register a complaint against honda motor company who would not stand behind thier oem equipment.*ak

while driving home on interstate 93 in heavy traffic i noticed a small object in the road that i had thought i avoided, but in a instant the passenger side and seat air bag deployed. the car filled with a smoky substance, causing visibility to be limited, my wife and i were startled but ok, we first thought we had been in an accident. we pulled over and checked the car and found no damage. the car is 2005 new honda accord hybrid brand new with only 500 miles on it. after we composed ourselves we called the dealer and they indicated to park the car and do not drive it so we had it towed. the dealer put the car on a lift and called us to say they could see a scratch under the car where something must have hit a sensor and then triggered the air bags. if this had been on the drivers side i can assure your the results could have been much worst. i cannot believe that such a small object would trigger this to go off, rather than a safety item these are a hazard. i will fear seeing an object on the highway in the future and always wonder if the air bags will deploy. does this sound normal or was the dealer telling me the truth? i had to file an insurance claim because the dealer stated it was my fault. the car is now sitting waiting for the insurance adjuster to look at it. *ak

i bought my brand new 2005 accord ex in october of 2004. i had the car for no more than a few weeks when the right rear speaker blew out. i took it back to honda and they replaced it with a new speaker. not even a week later, the same speaker blew out again. i took it back to honda and complained. a honda representative came and checked out the car. not only did they deny me the repair, but the women who looked at the car said the speaker was not blown and that it was most likely the cd's that i was playing. meanwhile, i don't really use my cd player and i hear the popping noise from my speaker when i am playing the radio. i filed a complaint with the bbb and hopefully i will get this fixed. i am extremely disappointed with the honda corporation. *ak

while driving on normal condition road at the speed between 30 mph to 40 mph, rattle noises can be heard from joint between windshield screen and dashboard. and rattle noise from both doors.it happens after accerlarating then release the gas pedal, while cruising. driving on freeway, at 65mph to 70mph, suspicious noise from under the car, feel a bit lose control sometimes. brought to the dealship and they removed the cluster and panels, put on form tape. but noise still exist after repair.*ak

i purchased my 2005 honda accord in february. it started missing out a few days later. when it shifts from 1st to 2nd gear it feels like i am running over washboards. this happens a few times. i have taken my car to the dealership where i purchased my vehicle, four times and they can not diagnose the problem. a few of the excuses that they have given me are my abs are not working correctly, i have a heated garage which is causing condensation- (i do not have a heated garage), or i keep buying bad fuel. a service technician felt the miss, but honda dismissed it because they said that she was not a certified technician, and they could not go by her word. they have documented that my car does have a miss, but they can not locate the problem. too say the least my car has been somewhat of a headache, and no one seems to know what the problem is, or even care to help. *jb

2005 honda accord experienced cold engine start and unexpected acceleration. *mr at start up the engine would run at 1500 rpm. when placed in gear with the brake pedal depressed, the rpm would drop to 1000. upon release of the brakes, the vehicle would begin to roll as normally expected for about 2 seconds and then the rpm would suddenly jump to 1500 and the vehicle accelerates immediately to 10mph or less. honda suggested that this was normal. *sc *jb

dt: consumer states her vehicle collided with a truck cabin that was left abandoned on freeway 280 in palo alto, ca. the vehicle was traveling at approximately 60 mph. the vehicle spun several times and side swiped another vehicle parked in the vehicle service lane. it landed in the hillside of the freeway. the vehicle safety features included front, side, and panel airbags. none of which deployed. the vehicle has been declared a total loss by american express property and causality insurance. it is presently located sturken auto body in san jose, ca. it is scheduled for immediate towing by the insurance company to iv company in north hollywood, ca for salvage. there was a police report. the consumer was injured in this vehicle. there maybe other injuries because there were 4 other vehicles involved. the consumer has not seen the police report yet. the truck cabin was unavoidable; the car on the side of the freeway had hit it first. *nm

honda accord ex was parked in a picnic area near a local river. the driver stepped out with three passengers remaining in vehicle. the vehicle began to roll after the passenger turned off the ignition. the parking brake was not engaged, however, the driver states that the transmission was in park. the vehicle then rolled approximately 10' forward and down a 40 degree slope leading to the river. the vehicle stopped in the river with approximately one-half of the vehicle submersed. two passengers escaped prior to entering the water. both of these individuals received minor injury in the process. the other passenger was pulled out the passenger window after the vehicle had entered the river. we made several inquiries with honda corporation, local dealership, and our insurance company about possible mechanical problem. our hope was to have someone explain the possible scenarios leading to this incident. no one could provide complete evidence to in

dt: the manufacture did not include a spare tire in the vehicle. instead they included a can of sealant in place of the spare. the owner's manual stated that the sealant may not work if the puncture was located outside the tread, the puncture was wider than about 3/16 of an inch, if the wheel rim was damaged, or if the tire sealant has expired. also, owner's manual on page 230 indicated that if the consumer used the sealant it may make the tire warranty invalid the consumer was concerned because he felt that this was an inadequate way of repairing the tire. the consumer has not had the problem as of yet. the consumer contacted the manufacturer to try to get them to purchase a spare tire, and they would not. this was on 8-12-05, case number n032005081200173. the vehicle was a hybrid electric that ran on gasoline or electricity. *ak *nm

we purchased a new 2005 honda accord ex-l (4 cyl) on july 31, 2005. 3 weeks into ownership, the airbag warning light came on and stayed on. the car was being driven normally at the time. we followed the owner's manual instructions and returned to the dealer for service on 8/19/2005 (bankston honda in lewisville, tx). the service department ran a computer test on the car and confirmed that the driver's side airbag was not receiving a signal, and in fact would not deploy in the event of a crash. in short, the airbag was non-functional. the dealer had the car until today, 8/24/2005. their fix was to "clear the code" and make the light go off. they claim they were unable to find the cause of the problem, and wanted to return the car to us. no parts were replaced. the light simply turned off and they consider that "fixed" i suppose. i insisted on an explanation, since this is a critical safety item. we were told by the dealer that in honda accords, the airbag's functionality can be compromised by a cell phone being in the car! if this is the case, the cars should be recalled! there's even a special power jack between the front seats for cell phones. there's no telling how many honda drivers are in danger if what the dealer told me is the case. how can a car manufacturer and dealer knowingly sell a vehicle whose primary safety feature deactivates because the owner is carrying a cell phone? we left the dealer with our car (8/24/05). about 2 miles down the road the airbag light came on again. we immediately returned to the dealer. they have the car again and are going to call "honda tech" for advice. i am thoroughly disappointed with this vehicle and am angry that we and thousands of other accord drivers could be at risk of injury/death because of a known problem that hasn't been announced by the mfg and remedied. i don't want the car anymore because i don't believe it's safe. i want my money back.

2005 honda accord ex (4 cyl 5-at) 1) continual problem with braking system at low speeds 2) when at low speeds, apply the brakes and they grab so abruptly that the car stops with a jerk, often causing seat belts to lock. this can also occur when braking from high speeds to lower speeds in order to stop car. because stops so abruptly have almost been in an accident where cars behind me had to swerve out of the way. one such instance happened on a busy toll both during rush hour. 3) honda dealer where car had been purchased said nothing they can do. it's a problem with most 2005 brakes. *nm

dt: the consumer's vehicle was struck by another vehicle while approaching a red light at 10 mph. the vehicle was struck on the left front passenger's side by the headlights and tire area. this was a minor accident. the consumer exchanged license and insurance information and got back into the vehicle. the consumer was planning to drive away. while on the cell phone a pedestrian waved alerting the consumer that the car was on fire. the left front headlight area had black smoke coming from where it had been previously struck. the smoke later turned into flames. the fire department came and put out the fire. the vehicle was towed to the dealership from where it was purchased. no explanation as to why this fire began. the fire department, the police department, the insurance company, and dealer could not offer an explanation at this time. an insurance investigator, fire inspector, and a representative from american honda came to inspect the vehicle. no report was issued, but the consumer wished to file a compliant. no corrections or repairs were done. no final determinations will be made until after inspections. the consumer was injured as a result of the accident but not the fire. *ak

while driving home on interstate 285 in traffic i heard a loud pop in my left ear and my seat belt tightened to an unbearable tightness. my car filled with a powdery like substance and that's when i realized that my side curtain and seat airbags had deployed. there was nothing in the highway that i could have hit. my car was drivable and i pulled over to see if there was any damage. there was no damage so i called the dealership and took it in. they did a visual inspection and could find no reason why the air bags should have deployed. they said they would have to keep the car over night so that they could look at it more closely. the next day i called to check the status of my car and at that time i was informed that they could not find any damage to my car but they needed to continue looking. 15 minutes later i received a phone call stating that they had found a small scratch on the bottom of my car and that was the cause of my airbags deploying. i am insisting that i did not hit anything because the highway was clear at the time. am i getting the run around from honda? is this normal? *jb

radio reception. we have the accord with the satellite/radio combination with a cd player. the antenna is located in the rear window. the radio reception, in either am or fm is unacceptable. the local honda garage has offered to replace the radio but insists that the problem is in the antenna design. the reception is terrible. stations that are easily heard in other vehicles we own or have owned is simply much better. this is annoying at best. i would not have purchased this vehicle had i known the radio reception was so bad.*jb

dt: the contact stated while driving the passenger curtain and seat air bag deployed. the housing for the air bag on the door was damaged. the contact did not run over anything recently. she backed into a curb days ago, but the street she was driving on yesterday has no curbs. the insurance company inspected the vehicle and stated that hitting the curb days ago could not have caused it, but according to the dealership , it did. the manufacturer was relying solely on the dealer's evaluation. the vehicle is still at the dealership and has not been repaired. *ak

dt: the contact stated after purchasing the vehicle he began to notice cracks in the steering wheel above the air bags. he contacted honda and spoke with a representative. the representative had someone else to call him back. the representative told him that this problem was his fault because of the way he was pressing the horn. both times the airbag were replaced by the dealership under warranty. he went to a body shop and saw two other vehicles with the same problem ,and they told him if the air bag deployed then it could cause injury to him.*ak updated 12/27/05. *jb

STEERING:HYDRAULIC POWER ASSIST:POWER STEERING FLUID

vehicle with extended warranty was purchased from honda of pasadena on 7/22/05 (delivery done on 7/26/05). on 10/10/05 vehicle developed a mechanical problem. on 10/14/05 vehicle delivered to colonial honda for diagnosis and repair. they identified the problem as intermittent power steering system failure w/ extremely low fluids, no leaks. they topped up fluids and indicated that the system should function normally. their trained technician noticed (and pointed out) evidence some body work and repainting done to the front end of the vehicle. honda of pas. had never disclosed to me that the car had sustained any kind of damage or repairs prior to sale of the car to me. the car was sold as brand new, not 'as-is'. after my initial complaint, honda of pas. failed to produce records of damage/repairs prior to sale of the vehicle, they did not believe the damage/repair was significant. the problem continues to persist. on 10/31/05 vehicle back to colonial honda for repair. service manager at colonial indicated that they would not repair it under warranty since they believed the problem was caused by collision damage. i would have to pay $90.00 to have diagnosis. at that time no repair was done. honda of pas. and american honda both declined to do anything about the vehicle. a) if the vehicle was indeed damaged in a collision, then that would void several parts of the factory warranty and extended warranty that they sold to me for $1350 (sales fraud & misrepresentation). potentially there could be additional safety-related problems with the vehicle that are (still) dormant at this stage b) if honda of pas. is telling the truth, then this power steering failure is a defect that needs to be addressed: however colonial refuses to fix the problem under warranty. i want to know 1) if the driveability of the vehicle was compromised 2) if i'm putting myself at risk by driving the vehicle 3) if the factory warranty and additional extended warranty that i purchased are valid.

my 2005 honda accord ex has three features that compromise my safety: 1. the right-hand corner of the sun visor, when in its fullest position (not at an angle), obscures nearly half of the rearview mirror. this has caused a number of "near accident" events. 2. the honda is designed to downshift when going downhill. not only does this diminish gas efficiency, but can cause skids in icy weather. 3. the brakes are extremely sensitive. i have spoken to two area honda service centers and a service representative at honda headquarter. the area managers say that "they're all like that; there's nothing we can do," and the honda headquarters rep says the same. she even went so far as to recommend i get the lower half of my windshield tinted to prevent sun glare! what about night driving? i can't believe that solutions to this problem cannot be found. can you help in any way? *nm

honda accord coupe (2005) newly purchased 8 months ago. the problem: the camber is the angle at which the tire attaches to the car. incorrect angle causes irregular tire wear and creates pull on steering. the irregular tire ware causes increased maintenance on the car as well as a driving hazard. final report is that there is not a fix and honda will not replace the car. -the discovery of the problem: the car has been pulling to left. i attempted to have this aligned at the honda dealership (time of cars first oil change) the local honda dealership told me that they did not have the equipment to test alignment and also did not inform me that they do have a working relationship with a company that does perform alignment it was also time for tire maintenance according the manual. the local service manager over looked this because it was not 'highlighted by the system". she stated this after i inquired about having my tires rotated, balanced and aligned. she also informed me that their balancing machine was out of service and she could not assist me, but that i should be able to get things corrected at my next oil change). -therefore on a following oil change i went to another company for alignment. they informed me that the camber on the left side of the car was out of specifications and provided a report to prove so. i contacted honda corporation to inform them of the problem. they asked that i have another test. i paid for a second report showing that the camber and toe is out of manufacturing specifications . at this time they also informed me that there was not a 'fix' for this issue. - i reported the finding to the honda corporation and asked to explore the option of returning the car. they informed me today that i can not return the car. they can not fix the camber. -the initial alignment inquiry was made previous to the 12000 miles during normal service conditions. no information was given to assist me in correct the alignment issue. *jb

i drove a 2005 honda accord. after two days of purchased which was in april , 2005 i pulled out of the parking space my left front tire was popped. i had it replaced and called the dealership. they sent me to one of their tire affiliate dealer and they said that it was not manufacturer faults. four or five months after, i heard my brakes making this screech loud noise so i brought in for the dealer to take a look at and they had it re-do on the brake. last week, beginning of may 2006. the car bring in my attention on the freeway. when i drive at 65 miles, the car was shaking, it moves side to side and i don't have that much control with the wheels. i brought it in and the dealer had my wheels rotate for me. and today, this morning i dropped my daughter to her baby sitter house at 9:30 a.m. it is a busy residential area so i was driving around 15-20 miles per hour. i heard a very loud noise from my car and the car was dragging something in the front, right passenger side for few seconds and the car was dead stop in the middle of the street. i could not start the engine at all. so i went out and looked. i saw my front right side car dropped on it's own wheel with black pieces, bolt, and silver ring piece scattered on the street. i looked down and saw my front right axle was broken and felt down on the street. there are neighbors walked by and saw what happened. i called a towed truck and they came by to towed my car to the nearby honda dealer. with the condition the car was in. the tow truck man told me that he might had scraped my front bumper because my car had very small space for the lift of his truck to go under and lift up the car. we managed to secured the car and had it towed to the dealership. and they said that they will take a look at it. *nm

on monday 06/05/06 at around 8:45 pm. as i was driving home on the freeway. i started smelling something like gun powder when a few seconds later all of the sudden the driver side air bags deployed with no reason what so ever, the seat belt pulled me back against the seat really hard. i didn't crash, i did not come in contact with anything that could have caused this. thank god i did not have any injuries other than a pain on my left arm due to the deployment of the air bag located on the left side of the driver seat and a slight pain on my lower back i think due to the seat belt pulling me back so hard as the air bags were being eployed. *jb

my car suddenly accelerated upon exiting a car wash as i changed from neutral to drive. the design of the exit lane from the car wash driveway and access to the four lane street where the car wash is located does not allow for any speed as there are two sharp turns . my car sped across the driveway, into a culvert and toward the heavy traffic. i applied the brakes immediately and steered the car away from the street, crossing several business parking lots and landscaped areas. my 2005 honda accord received several thousands dollars in damage. honda denied it was warranty and did not show me the computer diagnostic evaluation. in fact, this information seemed to be closely guarded by the service department at honda orr in hot springs, ar. i was told to contact my insurance company for repairs. this car experienced what i would explain as an open throttle which may be a new problem for computerized cars. i have taken several photos of my car and the scene, which shows several feet of skid marks. *nm

vehicle purchased 8/1/2006, passed safety inspection by honda dealer. beginning on 9/1/2006 air conditioner returned no cold air. honda dealer claims a rock impact caused a hole in the air conditioning condenser, leading to a leaking of refrigerant and loss of cooling function. i believe this is a design flaw, as the problem is well-documented by many consumers. honda refused to cover the repair under warranty, instead charging the consumer $750. *jb

ac condenser prone to damage. with the placement of the condenser, it is easily damaged by flying objects hitting it during the drive. i went to the dealer to drop off my car earlier today to check on the ac problem and the first thing the service advisor did was look at the condenser and show me the many dents and marks. he said likely, it was hit by a little pebble while driving on the freeway and that it is a very common for the condenser to be damaged small flying objects. i only have had the car for 1.5 years. i did a quick check online and someone else also had the same problem and she only had the car for less than 3 months. *jb

the air conditioning on my 2005 honda accord hybrid failed while on a new year holiday visit to arizona. when i took it to my local dealer for repair under warranty, they told me that it is due to damage from road debris making a hole in the condenser, and that it would cost me $875 to repair. this would seem to be a design fault, putting something so apparently fragile at the front of a car, behind an opening 28 1/2 inches by 5 with only one horizontal bar under 1/4 inch wide and 3 verticals less than 1/8 inch wide. for a few dollars, they could protect it with a mesh grill and save what internet research seems to show happening to more than a few people on several honda models. *jb

i feel that the cold idle rpm on our car is set too high and causes the car to lurch when put in gear following a cold start. i have contacted both the manufacturer and the dealership and both say that the cold rpm setting on my car is within specifications and cannot be adjusted. there has been no failure or incident or consequences, but i feel that under certain conditions such as a cold start on an icy driveway with an inexperienced or elderly driver, there may well be a failure/incident/consequence. *jb

while my son was driving my vehicle, a 2005 honda accord ex-l, he was involved in a head-on crash in which he was injured and the vehicle received heavy damage. my son was taken to the hospital due to cervical spine, lumbar and chest injury. the vehicle had struck another vehicle at a speed of about 35 mph and the airbag failed to deploy. on the dashboard the airbag sign did light on, however, no airbag had deployed. the seat belt pre-tensioner had fried since the seat belt was locked and was not retracting in addition, the seat belt pre-tensioner had fries. i had contacted honda north america, and they reported there was nothing wrong with the vehicle and the vehicle behaved as it was suppose to. however, after contacting nhtsa, the representative stated with a 2005 honda accord, if the seat belt pre-tensioner fires, the airbag should fire simultaneously, who then suggested me to submit a claim to nhtsa. the vehicle did undergo repair authorized by the insurance company. the seat belt was replaced in addition to the airbag module and other associated items. however, the old items are not available. *jb

i have been driving my 2005 accord lx since 12/04. initially the engine seemed to be a bit racy but i reasoned that it was due to the fact that the engine needed to be broke in. as time and miles accumulated, from time to time the engine would race even after more than enough time to warm up. about a year ago, i went by the local honda dealer for another issue when i asked the (service manager) about my "racy engine." his quick response was that the engine needed to warm up to a certain temperature, and it was implied that this was normal performance for my car's engine. over the past 21/2 years that i have driven the car, i always make it a point to leave extra room in front of me whenever i stop behind another car because the car will lunge forward. to prevent the "lunge," i must ease up on the brake slightly periodically rather than "stand" on the brake. on 04.19.07, i rear ended the car in front of me as i came to a stop at a traffic light. there was very slight damage to each of the vehicles. i received a citation and possibly 2 points on an otherwise pristine driving record. as i calmed myself as the day continued, i wondered if there may be some defect that may need to be corrected. thank you for your time. *jb

early last year the car would not start. according to dealer the relay switch was bad and needed to be replaced. in march 2007 honda issued a recall relating to a defect with the relay, causing the fuel pump to lose power, become inoperative ,and possibly leaving the vehicle inoperable. according to honda's march 13, 2007 letter to mr. daniel smith at nhtsa the vehicle fell into the vin numbers which were subject to the recall as this vehicle's vin was, and the vin range given by honda was [xxx] - [xxx]. curiously, this vehicle did not fall into the alleged dates of manufacturing listed by honda. more specifically, it appeared this vehicle was manufactured in january 2005, while the vehicles with the affected vin range were allegedly only manufactured between april 13, 2005 - june 15, 2005. i contacted honda with this information ,and was advised that this vehicle was not part of the recall, yet my relay had failed a year earlier. i am concerned that the vin numbers listed by honda to be affected by the recall did not match up with the alleged dates of manufacturing listed by honda, thereby calling into question the true number of vehicles that contained this serious, safety related defect which warranted a recall. i would like someone from nhtsa to contact me on this problem. *ak updated 07/10/2012 *js information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)

1) the vehicle shakes at high speed. 2) the vehicle at slow speed sounds like the wheel bearings are grinding themselves down 3) the vehicle vibrates at slow and high speed but more so at high speed when pressing the brake peddle 4) the vehicle was brought to the dealership 3 times for these problems with the drive train and the brakes. still after the third time of having new brakes and wheel bearing the vehicle continues to vibrate to such a manner as i feel it highly unsafe.

i currently own a 2005 honda. i just recently had a problem with it that really has me concerned. from what i'm told by the service manager at one honda dealership the wiring harness under the driverside seat was too short and broke. the srs (supplemental restraint system) light went on indicating a problem with the airbag system. this apparently detects when someone is leaning to far foward in the seat and would prevent the airbag deploying and injuring them. this disabled the airbag in my car. no airbag. no protection. the wiring harness was replaced as well as the sensor assembly. this fixed the problem. i am reporting this because the 2004 honda accords had a recall on this problem. i have an 05 and the same thing happened. this is a problem honda should fix immediatley. i'm told the 05's have no recalls. i want to be protected in case of an accident. honda needs to fix this in all the 05's. the srs wiring harness should not be so delicate or short that it can break just from moving your seat back and forth.

failure of driver's shoulder seat belt to retract during major accident. while driving my 2005 honda accord, another driver failed to yield to oncoming traffic and i hit head on at 45 mph at my driver's left front to center front. driver airbag deployed and seat belt was buckled, but there was no tension nor retraction of my driver's shoulder seat belt. i went above air bag, into and broke windshield and back up again. sustained head, neck, back, chest and arm injuries. 2005 honda was totaled by insurance company.

i was using my heated seats this morning on my way to work. i set the driver's side seat on the low setting and within a few minutes my left thigh began to burn. i looked down and saw smoke coming from the seat and noticed the leather beginning to discolor. i immediately turned the heat off and snuffed out the smoke with my fingers. i am now in the process of notifying honda.

honda's failure to disclose that a spare tire is not standard equipment on its 2005 accord hybrid put my and my family's lives in danger. we first learned of the situation when my husband had a flat tire. honda then told us that a retro-fit was available. before parts arrived, i experienced a blow out on an out-of-state high speed thoroughfare at night. two police cars and a tow truck were required to transport us to the safety of a motel. another 6 weeks passed before honda had the parts to retro-fit the vehicle at my expense. honda assumes no liability for this situation.

six changer cd player overheats. after 30 seconds of playing time , the panel turns extremely hot and cd error message flashes. when the cd is removed, it is extremely hot to the touch where it must be placed on the passenger seat. if more than one cd is in the six cd changer, the panel gets very hot and subsequently the panel display goes blank. the radio will not work until the unit has cooled. there is a potential danger for fire or other system failure. clearly a safety hazard.*cn

i have owned a 2005 honda accord since sept. 2005. both of the car key casements have broken without abuse during this time. now that may seem trivial, but they do so without warning due to extremely bad design/engineering. they seem to have been designed to fail. to replace them i have been told that each key would cost $67 and the programming another $88. without the case being attached to the key, the ignition will not operate. if someone were somewhere in the country along way from civilization, what would one do? this is why i am complaining, and why this is a safety issue. the price for replacement is also outrageous.

i have a 2005 honda accord with a 6 speed manual transmission which i bought new in april 2005. i had intermittent problems engaging 3rd gear right from the start. i took the car in for this problem at 5,000 & 15,000 mi. honda mechanics could find no problem. at 34,712 mi. a mechanic finally verified the problem and replaced the trans fluid per tech line with part #08798-9031. this was in april 07. the problem persisted. in august 07 with 44,000 mi. i took it in again for the same problem. no help. finally i was contacted by a service manager who verified that honda had a problem with 3rd gear in the accord and a fix was on the way. it would be available in december. it is now late march and still no fix. since that time i have gone on-line and found that honda has been aware of this problem with the 6 speed transmission in the accord, the civic and the acura since at least 2005. there are many sites with honda owners complaining of this problem and getting no response from honda. in certain situations, such as merging into traffic from a freeway on-ramp, it is very dangerous to have the car either not go into 3rd gear or pop out of it. the vehicle immediately decelerates and other vehicles traveling at freeway speeds come up very fast. is there any way to make honda fix these cars? below is an excerpt from edmunds.com and also a service bulletin related to this on-going problem. a few of our editors have noticed in the past that the transmission shift lever in our long-term 2006 honda civic si will occasionally pop out of gear or grind when making a 2-to-3 upshift. this trait does not seem to be endemic to our car as other civic si owners have made forum posts about this topic. trunk lid falls down if not held. when raising lid, must push all the way open and hold in order to make certain lid does not fall. (trunk springs appear too weak). reported matter to victory honda service - plymouth. advised that rods were working properly. would have to special order trunk springs if needed. vehicle now out of warranty. examined several models on dealer lot. some have similar problem, some even worse. lid had struck writer and daughter in the head on several occasions. writer concerned about injury from lid slamming down.

the air conditioning suddenly stopped working. when brought to the service center they informed me a rock had broken the condenser. after researching this problem online i discovered it was relatively common in 2003-present accords, in fact some owners reported this happening multiple times. i also found several individuals that said honda replaced the part at no cost. when i informed my service center (criswell honda of germantown, maryland) of what i had found they told me they would not cover the cost of repair. in fact it is going to cost me over $700 due to the labor required in getting to the part (removing the front bumper). even once i get the condenser replaced there is no guarantee this will not happen again. the problem is caused by poor design, there is absolutely nothing protecting the condenser from any type of road debris.

i purchase this vehicle on april 28th 2008. the carfax report had an accident indicator by the second owner, but did not mention what type of accident in terms of moderate, minor, no damage, etc. this report was printed march 24th 2008. when i bought the vehicle the air bag light was on, and when driving; it still stayed on and i told atlanta used car dealership, who told me to take it to the honda dealership to look at it and stated that its probably a glitch. i took the vehicle to the honda car dealership to inspect. the honda dealership found the srs control unit and the passenger side curtain airbag faulty. as stated on my customer invoice from gwinnett place honda, the passenger side air bag appeared to be cut out. carfax did not report that there is a deficient airbag. another incident found is that the accelerator occasionally stick when trying to depress. the honda dealership found there was a carbon build up and it needed service. the dealer replaced the right outer tie rod end, which is on the right passenger where the accident occurred. the dealer stated it was unsafe for me to drive without replacing the tie rod, which was serviced and they also performed a 4 wheel alignment and test drive before i left. my experience has led me to take the initiative to communicate with my attorney general's office, and other consumer protection agencies to report this incident. sincerely, olutomilola aiyetiwa

this is the 2nd time i have had to replace the condenser in my vehicle due to an item being projected from the road up into my condenser due there being no guard to cover it up. the first time it was a piece of tire from a semi, this time it was a rock. i think my 2005 accord is a great car, but this is ridiculously expensive! i have to pick up my car tonight and drop another $800 to get it repaired. something should be done to warn people.

about two months ago, had tire rapidly deflate while driving at highway speeds. using spare tire, took car to tire kingdom where they determined cause of flat tire was cracked valve stem. tire had to be replaced as the sidewall got crushed and integrity of tire rendered it unusable. a month ago as i exited my car, i heard a hissing sound and noticed another tire had air leaking from the valve stem. i was able to inflate the tire at a nearby gas station and bring it to tire kingdom where they replaced that valve. no tire damage was caused, and the tire was still usable. three weeks ago i drove about 30 feet off the driveway and realized another tire (completely different than the first two) had gone completely flat. using spare tire, i returned to tire kingdom where they determined the cause of the flat was another cracked valve stem. because the tire had a crushed sidewall, it could not be repaired and had to be replaced. i asked the mechanic to replace all 4 valve stems, and he indicated that all four of them, including the two that were replaced within the past 2 months, showed signs of dryness and slight cracking.

i have a 2005 honda accord with fairly low mileage. the a/c stopped working so i brought it to a honda dealer while it was still under warranty. they found that there is a pinhole in the condenser and will not fix the problem because it was due to a road hazard. i feel this is a design flaw. the condenser is located 18 inches above the ground and there is not protection for it at all. it is common for a car to hit small pebbles at this location and there should be some sort of protection. i am stuck with a fairly new car and a $700 bill to fix a design flaw!!

while driving in the middle of a heat wave, the air conditioning in my 2005 honda accord hybrid had stopped blowing cold air. i had only had my car for three months, so i was confused at why my air conditioning had gone out. i took the car to a mechanic who told me that a rock had hit and damaged the ac condenser, causing the freon gas to leak from the condenser. he said that the condenser is located in front of the radiator and because of its location is will always be exposed to debris while driving. the condenser can be seen through the large holes of the vent at the front of the car. the mechanic gave me a $750 estimate for the part and labor. since the car is a newer model, there are not old parts available. he also informed me that because the car was not designed to protect the condenser, that it is very likely that the part will be damaged again and again. this part is not covered by the warranty and i cannot afford to pay $750 every time this occurs.

the mass air flow sensor has major issues. during the normal course of driving the car became sluggish on going uphill like losing power. then the check engine light would come on. we took it to a dealer and they informed us that it was the mass airflow sensor. we had it replaced. then about 6 months later the same thing happened again and we took the vehicle to the dealer and again it was the mass airflow sensor. this time the dealer cleaned the sensor and informed my wife that according to specs that the sensor could require cleaning after something like 80 hours of operation. this was crazy and i asked the dealer do they have the garage lined with accords getting their mass airflow sensor cleaned? that did not make common sense. then about another 6 months later the vehicle did it again. we took the vehicle to the dealer and informed them that it was going to be the sensor again. they said well we have to look at the code. i told them that i had been through this twice before and i wanted the underlying problem found. they called me back about 2 hours later and informed that the code read the mass airflow sensor. i told them that i told them that on the paperwork when i dropped the car off and i asked them what was the underlying problem causing this. they said they could only go by the code. that showed me that the dealers have no idea about their own vehicles. this did not start until the vehicle had about 40000 miles on it and it seems to be happening every six months. i have lost faith in this vehicle and its reliability. first happened april 2007, then again december 2007 and the last time was may 7 2008.

the audio unit display lights do not come on when the headlights are turned on. the radio dial, clock, and hvac control switches are not lit. the only light on in the area is the small green light showing which hvac button has been selected. the instrument panel lights do light up are controllable with the dimmer switch. this problem came on suddenly - one night they worked when i turned on the headlights and the next night they did not work. so far this is a consistent problem. i have checked the fuses; none were blown. as a driver i can cope with the problem this time of the year, but as winter sets in and the windshield needs to be cleared of interior fog with the defroster i will not be able to see which control to hit creating an unsafe situation. this was/is a problem with earlier model years (2003-2004) of this model run. in 2007 honda issued a 7 year/100,000 mile warranty extension letter for these years. there is also a service bulletin for these repairs.

saturday afternoon 9/13/08, my wife experienced an unusual uncontrollably high rpm rapid vehicle acceleration when shifting from park to drive. vehicle involved was a 2005, honda accord. fortunately this event occurred in a private wild life parking area and not in an area congested with people where serious injuries/death could have occurred. sequence of events: 1. initially vehicle could not be shifted from park to drive. engine was shut off and restarted 3 or 4 times and she was then able to shift into reverse and back out of parking spot. 2. with foot on the brake she shifted from reverse to drive and then started forward. 3. at that time the engine started a rapid uncontrollably rpm increase and vehicle acceleration. 4. after moving forward and turning right to avoid hitting a tree head on the vehicle struck and jumped over a landscape railroad cross tie. the total distance traveled from the point of shifting into drive and jumping over the cross tie was approximately 30 feet. 5. at this time she believes the uncontrolled high rpm & vehicle acceleration stopped. 6. vehicle continued forward for 15 +/- feet and struck and damaged a heavy metal guard gate. 7. vehicle front end and underneath damage has not been assessed at this time. 8. cause of vehicle malfunction is also unknown.

because of the great reputation of honda vehicles, i and my husband decided to buy a honda accord ex car 2005 two years ago. we have never had any problems with it until last tuesday, when i was driving back to home when the engine stalled suddenly, after about two minutes i turn it on and it seemed fine while i was driving for less than a mile to get home. two hours later on i and my husband were getting off he took the keys to drive the car and i did not tell him about the incident i simply totally forgot because i did think it was a problem and i did not expect to be a problem, so we got off we got in the car he tried start the car and it jerked hard and it wont start he tried again and we drove it but the car was cranking and it jerked hard and slowed down and it stopped and it did the same thing he was decreasing the speed. our car is 74,000 miles we took it to a mechanic at honda dealership and he said the transmission is failing a way he never seen before he checked and there are no recalls for that problem so to we need to get a new transmission and replace the axles as well which is going to cost us around 4000 dollars i don't think this is fair i believe in my hearth it's a manufacture problem and it should be a recall i did a lot researches and a lot of people they have the same problem. please do your investigation we can not afford to fix the car we did not do anything wrong to this car but driving it to work and keep it maintenance till it start to act up we are leasing a car now to go to work to product please help us.

at 12k reported a brake problem. dealer could not identify cause and turned rotors front and rear and replaced the pads. at approximately 24k, same issue again. dealer could not identify cause and replaced pads front and rear and turned rotors. the shake and vibration returned at just past the 36k warranty period. car is now at 49k, left rear brake is worn out and the rotor is badly scored. honda refused to provide any further factory assistance and stated it is my responsibility at this point. it is my contention that the car has had a safety issue with the brake system since new and honda through it's dealer has not taken the proper steps to identify the issue and correct it, rather performed a bandaid fix and sent me on my way. this car is unsafe at this time and has been since new.

the accelerator stuck and the engine kept revving at a high speed. when the brakes were pressed it barely slowed down. was able to stop the car at a fast food establishment. it continued to rev when the gear was placed in "park." the car was turned off and then restarted, and the engine was still revving at a high speed. a tow truck took it to the honda place and they could find nothing wrong. evidently the tow truck driver moved the pedal around and the dealer said he should not have done that.

2005 honda accord needs its second brake job. first brake job at 30,000 and now 2nd at 60,000. honda states they are warping the front end to heat to such a degree that is warping my brakes and putting me an d my family at risk? what is causing, i don't live in an area where i ride my brakes, there are no hills, i've less than 4 miles from where i work. they suggest resurfacing and replacing the pads for the second time. not sure why this is a recurring problem with this vehicle. there has to be some type of defect that is causing this to re-occur once maybe but twice.

my 2005 honda accord ex-l v6 (2 door) suffered a sudden catastrophic transmission failure while cruising at 70 mph resulting in a near accident. i could not accelerate and the vehicle would not downshift into any other gear. i was nearly hit by vehicles following me and had to merge across traffic into the emergency lane where i "coasted" down an offramp. the vehicle has been properly maintained to the standards listed in the owners manual. the transmission has been serviced twice in 96,000 miles which exceeds the standards in the owners manual. the owners manual also specifies only genuine honda transmission fluid which was used on both transmission services. the vehicle has been diagnosed with a total failure of the transmission, and there were no warning signs at all (slipping gears, grinding, etc.). if the incident happened in a different location (crossing an intersection, more cars in traffic, on a wider highway) it is very likely that i would have been struck by another vehicle.

i am not one to be affected by hype nor hysteria, but i do have some serious concerns about the brakes on the 2005 honda accord hybrid. when driving over rough surfaces or slick (due to ice or snow) roads the 2005 honda accord hybrid has a delay in braking response. there have been numerous occasions where i have almost rear-ended a car in front of me because of poor braking response/performance. i have wondered for quite some time if this was due to the regenerative braking interfering with the anti-lock braking system. the recent events with certain toyota models have caused me contemplate whether there's an inherent problem with regenerative braking systems as a whole. honda has not yet issued a recall regarding this problem, but when i was at my last routine service appointment, my service agent told me that other 2005 honda accord hybrids have been experiencing problems with their braking systems. they offered to fix the problem, but the repair was over $1,800 - a price i could not afford. it seems to me that if the problem is endemic to this particular model, there should be a recall issued.

loss of lights on controls for heating, defrost and all other climate controls. over a period of several weeks, i had an intermittent loss of backlight to the climate controls for my car. this presents a hazard during nighttime driving as the dome lights must be switched on and it takes longer to find the appropriate control for defrost for the windshield. this is also related to the backlight on the radio, which was a known problem with honda accords for a very long time. the lights would go out, then come back on again when i went over a bump or turned the headlights on or off (indicating an electrical instead of bulb problem). the loss of function increased gradually in terms of number of outages, length and duration. the car was taken in after two near accidents due to trying to turn on the defroster while driving. despite a known problem with prior year accords in the exact same system, for which honda has issued recalls, i did have to pay for the repair.

i was at the wheel of my 2005 honda accord, slowly easing it in to a parking spot in a public parking garage when the car suddenly lurched forward, hitting the concrete wall. i put my foot firmly on the brake, put the car into reverse and attempted to back the car up a few inches to see what damage had been done. when i lifted my foot from the brake, the car suddenly and uncontrollably accelerated backwards at a rapid rate of speed and crashed into a concrete wall about 30 feet behind the spot. the left rear of the car was crushed inward about two feet, substantial damage was done to the entire rear, the side airbag deployed, and i sustained a number of injuries which have prevented me from returning to work three weeks after the event. my insurance company, state farm, totaled the car and is retaining it for investigation.

the seat belts in the 2005 honda accord hybrid provided no safety in a collision. the airbags also failed to deploy in the same collision. i was the passenger in the front seat of a 2005 honda accord hybrid when we rear ended a volvo s-80. the volvo then struck an altima. the accord struck the volvo with considerable force. the volvo's trunk was damaged and would not open. the structural bar in the accord protecting the radiator was also bend beyond repair. i had the passenger seat as far back as it would go and was wearing my seat belt. during the collision my knees struck the front dash and swelled. the driver also suffered severe knee pain mostly likely from striking her knees against the dash or steering column. i believe the airbags should have deployed. even if the bags did not deploy then the seat belts should have held. the seat belts in the 2005 honda accord hybrid provided no safety in a collision.

i was traveling east on i-195. i saw that a police officer had a vehicle pulled over on the right. i moved over to the left lane. when i did, i crossed onto the rumble strip on the left of the highway. i applied the brakes while on the rumble strip and nothing happened. the vehicle began to accelerate wildly. i tried to bring the vehicle back under control. my husband pulled the emergency brakes. instead of slowing us down; the vehicle went out of control. i clearly remember the last moments screaming brakes! brakes! we then went sideways before going across the grass median into opposing traffic. we were immediately struck on the passenger side by a vehicle-traveling west. my husband took the full force of the impact and was killed instantly. i went into a coma. i was airlifted to texas neuro rehab in austin from capital health hamilton, nj. now i am permanently disabled. not a moment in my life has gone by since that day without thinking of my husband and what happened to us. i remained in a coma until oct, 2005 i woke up in tx. i have permanently lost my ability to walk, talk, or write normally. honda issued a recall in 2005. i received it after the accident. i never gave up hope of finding the true cause. recent problems with other hybrid vehicles were exposed. i continued looking on the web for honda owners with similar complaints, and have found many. limited space prohibits me from giving you more than one link. http://www.arfc.org/complaints/2005/honda/accord_hybrid, for the brake problem. this complaint is like what happened when i applied the brakes on the rumble strip. our accident report states: �vehicle #1 swerved over the left side rumble strip, came back onto the left lane, accelerated back over the left side rumble strip off the roadway through the grass median and onto westbound traffic there were no straight-line skid marks on the highway from my vehicle, only yaw marks when the vehicle went out of control.

instrument lights in panel for hvac/audio system are not lit. one night they stopped working. exact same issue as this: make: honda model: accord year: 2005 complaint number: 10241768 summary: the audio unit display lights do not come on when the headlights are turned on. the radio dial, clock, and hvac control switches are not lit. the only light on in the area is the small green light showing which hvac button has been selected. the instrument panel lights do light up are controllable with the dimmer switch. this problem came on suddenly - one night they worked when i turned on the headlights and the next night they did not work. so far this is a consistent problem. i have checked the fuses; none were blown. as a driver i can cope with the problem this time of the year, but as winter sets in and the windshield needs to be cleared of interior fog with the defroster i will not be able to see which control to hit creating an unsafe situation. this was/is a problem with earlier model years (2003-2004) of this model run. in 2007 honda issued a 7 year/100,000 mile warranty extension letter for these years. there is also a service bulletin for these repairs.

service engine soon light comes on and it indicates that the throttle position sensor is defective i brought the car a month ago and it only has 64k on it. my experiences with this code are bucking and jerking of the car idling surges sudden stalling hesitation while driving and a sudden surge in speed while driving on the parkway also my fuel drops drastically. i called honda and i was told by a service repairman that i need to change the tps sensor but i would have to buy the whole throttle body totaling 500 since the tps sensor($45) is not sold separately. also this is causing my shifter to get stuck i cannot shift my car into drive.

i bought this brand new car in 2005 and good maintenance on it. for about a month, my car had been acting funny when i came to a stop, periodically. maybe once a week or so. by acting funny, i mean it did not seem to downshift immediately when i came to a stop, sometimes acting like someone bumped the car from behind barely. last saturday, around 9 pm right at the stop sign, the transmission locked up and i could not reverse or downshifted. i had to pull the car to the road side. it was towed to the dealer where i purchased it next morning that was sunday and i had to pay $181 for towing. monday, the dealer ship service called me and said transmission failure and i have to pay $4200 to replace it. i told them how can i bought the brand new car and it was only 67k miles, the transmission failure and i have to pay $4200.....after that they did contact to honda's corporate and told me that i have to pay $750 for manufacturers warranty deductible and honda will pay the rest. i have no choice so i let them fixed my car. but i would like to say is that why the car's transmission failed at 67k miles so who will buy the new honda with the problem like this. it cost me a nightmare to think about that night and i think the honda's corporate should responsible this problem and i don't have to pay $750 plug $181 towed car only 67k miles driving. otherwise, i am keep thinking that it could have accident when the car stopped at that night or my car was died on the trip around 100 miles away from home.

airbag indicator light on 2005 honda accord came on for no reason. honda charged me $110 to diagnose the problem and said the driver side curtain airbag was malfunctioning. they said it was $985 to replace and that airbags were not covered under the lifetime warranty like seatbelts were. dealership suggested i speak with honda customer service because they too were surprised it wasn't covered. honda customer service said there was no way they would pay for it. i was also told that because the indicator light remains on, that my car would probably not pass state inspection. now i am out the $110 i paid to first get this information, and have a car that may not pass state inspection due to a malfunctioning airbag that honda does not have an explanation for.

POWER TRAIN

as accelerating the vehicle a hard jerk happens while shifting gears from 1 to 2nd gear. the rpms go extremely high even if you accelerate the car gently and once you let go the car takes a couple of seconds to drop the rpms and you feel the jerk and then the thump. if i need to brake suddenly the car makes like a thump sound and the transmission feels and sound abnormal. this only occurs when you first accelerate the car and you're going from first to second gear. it doesn't happen on any other gears. i haven't felt this in any other car. this incident with the gear change happens always with the car, in the mornings, at an signal intersection, and/or leaving any place. it also occurs recurrently.

the seat position sensor (sps) wiring harness in my 2005 honda accord is broken causing the air bag warning light to be illuminated and the sps to fail. please note that this symptom is identical to that addressed by recall number: 07v001000, which applied to certain 2004 and 2005 honda accords. however, my vin number is not included in the honda recall. i believe that the omission of my 2005 honda accord's vin from recall number 07v001000 is in error and should be corrected. the honda dealer changed an initial $95.07 for diagnosing the problem, and has offered to install a new wiring harness at my expense. at this time no action has been taken. the faulty wiring harness is still installed and the air bag light is still illuminated and the sps is still in failure mode.

the air conditioning on my 2005 honda accord stopped working...took it to a mechanic and he said after trying to recharge the system that the condenser had a puncture on it. upon researching this mishap i find that quite a few other people have had this kind of thing happen to them because the condenser is not protected...it is completely exposed and can be damaged quite easily...honda should provide a retrofit....maybe a screen of some type...and reimburse drivers of their vehicles for the cost of replacing the condenser.....

the inside door handle of my honda accord coupe 2005 stopped working all of a sudden. a passenger riding with me discovered that they could not exit the car because the inside door handle failed to open the door. this was a one time occurrence and the door handle never worked again after that point. the problem was the cable from the interior door handle to the exterior door handle has a defective plastic insert where it attaches to the door panel. failure of this piece results in the passengers of the vehicle not being able to open the door from the inside. this creates a potential safety hazard in the event of an accident or roll-over. the cable holding the plastic insert had to be ordered and replaced after taking off the door panel.

i have a 2005 honda accord hybrid. i was driving my vehicle away from my home and had trouble pressing on the brake pedal. the brake pedal would not depress and i could not use the emergency brake to stop either. the brake was hard and seemed as if it was frozen or stuck in place. when i pulled the emergency brake lever all it did was beep and flash that i had pulled it, it did not slow me down or stop me. i had gone through 2 stop signs at this point. i finally was able to get the car into reverse so that the engine would rev and the brake pedal would finally depress. that was the only thing that would work. the car did not go in reverse but it did stop enough for me to actually use the brake. i called honda directly and because no complaints were previously issued they could not help me. my local dealers were too booked up to handle the issue as well. after it happening a total of 4 times i was finally able to get in touch with a mechanic who will be checking out the vehicle. i am very lucky that this did not end up in a crash or fatality. i had my 3 year old son in the car and i am pregnant with our second child. systems should be in place to help people out in situations like this and there were not. for this reason i would never buy a hybrid nor a honda again. im hoping the mechanic i found can fix the problem or atleast figure out what it is before myself or someone else gets hurt when my brake pedal decides to fail again. i have tried letting my car warm up before leaving my home to ensure that may help and it does not. it actually made it worse and instead of it only happening once on that trip, it happened twice. when the pedal is stuck i cannot stop, i can slow down but not enough to stop. something really should be done about this before it happens to anyone else.

i drive a 2005 honda accord, we noticed that the transmission fluid was low so we added honda transmission fluid. that's when the cars rpms shot up and i wasn't hardly moving. honda said do a 9 quart flush, which we did. for a day or two things seemed better, then it was far worse than before with the rpms at 6,000 and i'm only going 30. hoping it was a problem with a censor, we took it to honda, they tell me don't worry it'll be fine. hour later they call and say your transmission is shot. now they tell me i can trade it in, or get a new one for $3800. i say i'm taking it elsewhere, to another trans shop, who asks me which honda i called about he's had 3 calls that morning and has 2 waiting to be fixed. he says honda trans are poorly designed in that first the filter is hard to get to and that there is a very small hole for fluid to get through and that once clogged with no fluid the trans fails. now he's rebuilding it and our supposed trusty honda is going to cost us $2400 of which we do not just have sitting around. i hope that there will be a recall, this is truly awful of honda a name i trusted in, but, now would never recommended to anyone.

i own a 2005 honda accord hybrid and every winter (mn) at least 6 -10 times a year the brakes do not work. the power braking system simply doesn't work. it takes every bit of strength in my legs to apply the brakes, and it is still quite hard to come to complete stop. seems as if the colder it is, the worse and more frequent this happens. no one can give me an answer as to why it happens or how to fix it. however, they say just warm the car up first. we have warmed our car up, kept in the garage and after 25 minutes of driving down the road, car warm, so thing can happen at any given moment.

this started when i bought the car in 2005 and continues today (2011). i don't drive the car often for several reasons, one being a constant problem with the brakes. when driving on the highway at higher speeds, the wheel has always stuttered. when on a steep hill, the breaks have never halted the car completely. i have to make sure there are no cars crossing in front of me when on a steep hill. the brakes are terrible if i'm in a place where there is snow. i can't even drive it in snow or where there is a lot of rain. the tires are very good and all terrain, so it isn't that. i have the brakes inspected all of the time and they're only slightly used. i have tires rotated and aligned on a regular basis. but half of the time the brakes grind. even after inspection at three different honda dealerships, nobody can figure out what's wrong. i wrote to honda about this and several other problems, but they didn't even respond, let alone remedy the problem. i feel the car is dangerous and i use it as little as possible in perfect weather conditions and on flat roads. it's sad that honda takes no responsibility. i had only gotten hondas in the past because of reputation and reliability. i will be buying another "brand" from here on out. i used to live in california and now live in new mexico. i bought the car in santa monica. i have been to several dealerships in both places.

the catalytic converter went out just in time to evade the warranty on the car. my extended warranty wouldn't cover it. it went out at 82,000 miles and it's only covered to 80,000. i did hear that this was premature, but that it happens on the honda accords. the repair is pricey as i bought it in california and they have higher environmental standards (that part is good), so you can't buy an after market converter. the cost was $1,100 after installation. they nearly put the wrong one on in new mexico at the honda dealership. luckily, i called my old dealership in california as they were out of stock here and they said i had the incorrect part number.

i was driving doing about 35 mph and out of no where i hear this big pop! the side airbags on the driver side and in the back had deployed. no one hit me nor did i run over anything in the street.there was no type of impact. the airbag deployed for no reason. i reported it to honda dealership as soon as i got home. they ask me to bring the vehicle in the next day. the dealer ship and honda america inspected the vehicle their determination was that there was underbody damage. i couldn't believe what they showed me. it was a scratch, like someone took a screwdriver or something and scratched the vehicle. this was there reason for deployment. long story short they would not fix the vehicle because they felt it wasn't their fault. i am very disappointed with honda and how this was handled. honda states they are so big on safety for their customers but yet they will not fix vehicles that have defective parts that should be on a recall list, and now i have a vehicle with no side airbags and no seat belt. where is the safety concern?? what if this would have cause and accident where some one was injury, my youngest daughter was in the car with me when this airbag deployed for no reason. thank god it didn't cause me to hit another vehicle. i have done my own research and found out that this same incident has happened to several other customers. clearly there is a malfunction in this part/sensor. when is honda going to take some responsibility and keep their customers safe and do the right thing!!! i will continue to pursue this because i know exactly what happen and it was not cause by something hitting underneath my vehicle.

when trying to brake, my car shakes and shimmies as if it is stopping on a cobblestone road--worse when trying to brake when going downhill or at higher speeds. this minimizes my control as my steering column begins to shake and i have to "pump" the brakes to a complete stop. i replaced the brakes at about 3,000 miles and have to keep replacing them as it gets worse and worse. i took it to a mechanic and he said that my brake pads are fine and can't figure out what the issue is.

in 2005 accord, parked with steering column turned. steering column was frozen. unable to turn key to restart car. turning steering wheel did not help. wrecker, putting pressure on tires to load accord, released steering column, and key turned, car started. very dangerous. will leave families stranded. honda service says there are no repairs they can perform. learned the new cars have this problem too. solution: make it so the tires have to be straight ahead before the car can be turned off. solution: fix the steering column problem.

i previously drove my aunt's 2005 honda accord hybrid on several occasions. almost as soon as the vehicle was purchased, on more than one occasion, the brakes failed and caused accidents. the accelerator would also accelerate on its own. the car would simply speed up on its own. the car would also at times stop or turn off on its own. i assumed because the car was a hybrid or different that it was normal. at times when accidents would occur, i couldn't believe what had happened. the car literally drove away. a few times others drove the car and mentioned the same. my aunt previously tried trading in the vehicle, but it was too expensive to trade in. on january 11,2011. a fatal accident occurred while driving this vehicle. my mother, whom is a precautious driver was driving my cousin to school and were involved in a fatal car accident. the honda struck a school bus right in the middle. i believe the car like on many other occasions accelerated on its own or the brakes failed. i feel devastated that i have lost my mother and cousin because of this accident, but feel that my mother was not at fault. she was always a safe driver and in this case i believe the vehicle was at fault.

on saturday at 11:50 pm, i was cruising at the 169th & maple rd, omaha, ne parking lot.. at a front parking junction, i made a right turn at about 2-3 mph speed. i slowed and braked for a pedestrian walking across my path. my car started revving and accelerating rapidly. i immediately pressed the brake pedals harder. the harder i pressed, the harder the acceleration became. i became very concerned and scared that the car might accelerate suddenly and may cause a terrible accident. i quickly move the gear hand pedal shifters foward to (p)ark. the car jerked forward a bit and then stood still; however, the engine started revving with a loud din and then back to normal.i started to slowly move the gear back into (d)rive mode. the car behaved normally and i parked my car in a available parking slot. prior to this incident, i had a minor incident similar to this. this was a about 2 weeks back. i was slowed and stopped at a traffic light to make a right turn to maple. while in stop mode pressing the brake, the car started jerking and accelerating forward slowly. i quickly pressed the brake harder and it jerked forward and stopped. at that point, i just shrugged it off, thinking that was unusual but wasn't really bad to take issue. all this happened when i changed my accord hybrid battery and a hybrid controller over a month back when i had a hybrid battery and the controller that needed to be replace on account of a safety issue with the car. the car felt ok after the change. however, i had the car since 2005 and never did i encounter a sudden acceleration on this car, not once until after the battery and controller change. i can only relate now to what actually has happened and is very concerned for my life and my family to whoever drives the vehicle.

my car has been turning on my check engine light . my vtec seems to be staying on and it jerks my car back and kicks the light back on. i've been reading online and i'm not the only one with this problem. a lot of people say its the vtec oil pressure. i change my oil on a regular basis and don't think that this vehicle should be having this problem. it lacks power between 1-3000rpm and its not safe.

the passenger side door handle cable has a small plastic anchor that anchors the cable to to the inside of the door panel. the plastic piece was severed into two pieces by the metal grip that holds it in place. the end resullt is the passenger door can not be opened from the inside. if something was to happen and i needed to esacpe the vehicle from the passenger side, i would not have access to do so. i believe the plastic anchor breaking is a defect caused by inherently bad design of a plastic item locking into a metal item.

over 6 months ago, i noticed that the light which shows what gear you are in on the shift column on the floorboard wasn't staying lit. sometimes it would come on when i started the car and other times not. sometimes if i thumped on the shifter on purpose, it would come back on. then several weeks ago my radio stopped working. at first there was no sound but then a very loud weird noise started happening and it is extremely loud. the only way to stop the noise is to turn the radio off. then at other times you turn on the radio and it works fine. not long after that i was driving one night and all the lights on the dash flicked off and on again very quickly. it did it several times during my 3 hour trip and then stopped and i hadn't noticed it again until today. today my husband was driving and the check engine light came on and stayed on. i know sometimes if you don't click your fuel cap three times after refueling it can cause the light to come on but i have not refueled in several weeks. a few minutes later the abs light came on, went off and then came on again. shortly after this, all the lights on the dash flashed on and off again several times very quickly. the battery is not that old and this can happen whether it's wet or dry conditions. the user manual said the check engine light is emission related but there are so many other things happening that i wonder if this is some sort of electrical problem. it is scary when it happens because suddenly all the lights on the dash cannot be seen so you can't see the speedometer needle or anything. it's ok if it happens in daylight but is truly unsafe if it happens at night.

car was running fine. no problems. all of a sudden the airbag light came on. i stopped the car and checked the seat on the passenger side and seat belts trying to figure out why it was on. i got back into the car and continued home. when slowing to turn into driveway a loud banging noise occurred. the car was put in park and immediately started rolling backwards. this could have been a hazard if a car had been passing by or if this had happened in busy traffic. i could have rolled back and hurt someone, hurt myself or rolled back into oncoming traffic. also if someone had been walking behind the car and gotten ran over and killed. anyway it was later towed to a dealer and diagnostics ran. the dealer informed me that i needed a new transmission. that is not right. my car was like new with a little over 68 thousand miles on it. i still owe on it and purchased it brand new. honda should be responsible for this. since this has happened to me and i have begun to research this i found a ton of recalls for this same problem, yet i am told my car is a 6 cylinder and is not under recall. please help. i was told it would cost me 4400 plus $ to replace the transmission. honda should be responsible for this cost.

at first, when putting the car into gear, there would be a delay before the vehicle actually accepted that gear--anywhere from 6-10 seconds, along with a grinding noise when i would go from drive to park. i immeduately called my dealer and took it over there and explained to them what had been happening. given the mileage of my car, the manager of the service dept took the car out for a drive on the highway (with me), and tried to see if the gears were in fact slipping and i would need tranny work. after the test drive, it was decided that they would drain all the transmission fluid and replace it with new. this worked well for about 2 weeks, and then we had a big cold snap here in colorado. after that, it all went south. my car would no longer shift into 2nd or 3rd without a lot of noise. called the dealer, and by the time we got it there, the car was barely moving at 40mph on a major highway. when i purchased this car three years ago, the odometer read 42,000 miles. today it reads 67,000. really? i have transmission failure at 67,000?????? thank goodness i have a highly competent service manager at the dealership who went to bat for me and called honda directly. i received a "goodwill" repair, but am still forking over $1568 for a new transmission. obviously, honda has not fixed their transmission problems. i believe another recall needs to be issued sooner, rather than later.

the transmission is slipping between 1st and 2nd gear as well as 3rd and 4th gear. we took it into a shop and was told the transmission needs to be rebuilt. this car was purchased brand new and has around 80,000 miles. the guy at the transmission shop stated this was a known issue with honda but they were not willing to fix it. he stated the plastic caps on the torque converter were breaking and should have never been used at all.

initially when putting car in reverse it would not engage going into a forward gear once stopped. then upon entering highway the engine just revved and car lost speed almost causing me to be rear-ended at high speed because car would not drive. end result was torque converter was faulty and caused transmission to burn fluid and gears to shred. car was towed to hawley's auto repair on shaker road east longmeadow, ma on 12/20 where it was rendered fully un-drivable as transmission completely failed. honda was contacted but stated they would not cover the repair even though it is a known frequent failure.

hello, i am very upset/concerned because i have an 2005 honda accord. i know multiple people with different years of an accord along with one person with an 05. we are all having the same issue with our windows rolling up and down. i have been working on this issue sine 2010, and broke down and paid for the repair today. the main switch went out in the car. the main window works but the rest of the windows don't work. why is this not considered a recall? several people are having the same issue. i don't feel like i should of paid for the repair today, however i had no choice. i think that this is something honda needs to look into, also the factory stereos. my stereo went out a couple of weeks ago, i have only one person that experienced this problem, but i think it needs to be looked into.

my 2005 accord had an illuminated supplemental restraint system (srs) light. the honda dealer diagnosed it down to a broken driver seat sensor harness; fault codes 71-10 (drivers seat pos sensor) and a2-10 (faulty pwr supply). this condition is exactly the same as described in honda service bulletin 07-002, "safety recall: driver's seat position sensor harness replacement." just as described in the bulletin, the wires on the harness become damaged and in fact were completely broken away from the plug end. however, my vin falls outside the affected vin's listed in the service bulletin and is not covered under this action. furthermore, i feel the dealer charged more than necessary for the repair: they charged 1.96 hrs of labor (at $97.00/hr), or $190.00, and $15.20 for the part totaling $205.20. in comparison, the service bulletin calls for 0.6 hrs of labor, which when added to the part cost would have totaled $73.40. bottom line: honda did not provide the proper fix for damaged driver's seat position harness's in later production vins. since they continue to cause the same unsafe condition, honda must be compelled to increase the scope of this recall.

i have an 05 honda accord coupe. neither window will roll down, had the relay switch replaced but 6 months later back to the same problem. radio would go on and off, even when car was off. now the radio will not come on at all unless i unplug/plug the battery, then the result is only temporary. now the cruise control button will not work. if i push it down the green indicator light comes on but the button will not stay engaged. i've seen so many of the same complaints i was sure there was a recall i missed but there isn't??!!

my air bag light was lit,i took it to honda they re-set something, 5 minutes later as i was leaving it lit up again. took it back they said they had to do diagnostics, ordered a wiring harness,installed that. i drove to florida and back 1300 miles round trip and the light is back on meaning my bags will not deploy. i have had a very difficult time getting this addressed. honda (apple tree in fletcher , nc) had my car from tue-sat and i had to rent a car due to their negligence. now i have to drive back over there 1 1/2 hour drive one way and see what is going on. i noticed there have been similar issues, but that my vin was not covered. please advise. i am still driving an unsafe car and have spent countless hours going back and forth and paying for a rental car.

2005 accord 2.4 liter a/c stopped working. was told condenser had a hole caused by a rock. researched and found that numerous owners of honda products have had the same issue. honda needs to redesign the lay out and location of the a/c condenser or provide some sort of warranty and protection if they are not going to pay for the repair or replacement of the required parts. with the current design it is a money maker for honda. now it is going to cost me hundreds of dollars for the repairs that honda should be paying for due to their poor design.

honda accord 2005 v6 under 25,000 miles suddenly started having problems with the automatic transmission which finally failed on may 2011 while driving on the highway. a complete automatic transmission overhaul and torque converter change were performed at a honda dealer at a cost of over $2600. new transmission felt great during the first 3 months (even though it torque converter started leaking oil and i had to take it to the dealer for repair) but recently i have notice abrupt delays (slow down) while shifting gears, like its is pulling you back and strange kicks while shifting. car accelerates slower as well and does not react as quickly or smoothly as new. i took the car to the same honda dealer and they say nothing is wrong with the transmission.

after investing $900 in non-wear brake component replacement since 2007 (calipers, rotors), the car began to require ever-increasing pedal effort to slow & stop. dealer replaced brake fluid per maintenance schedule, restoring previous performance. 07november2011, pedal effort problem returned, worse than ever. $390 to replace master cylinder and problem was not corrected. 12dec2011 (84,000miles), $590 was "my half" (honda split cost with me) to replace abs modulator- a known problem with this model according to the dealer. this is an otherwise wonderful car but has enough siblings on the road to present a credible threat to public safety. additionally, the @$1900 i've spent so far on brake system hardware does not include regular wear items (pads, fluid, misc) which are normal replacement cost items. i believe honda should recall this model, inspect/replace brake components to ensure public safety, and reimburse owners who have already done the right thing in replacing defective parts that should not have ever been on the road in the first place. *js

i was driving home from work in stop-and-go traffic. when i went to accelerate i noticed that the vehicle jerked, as if it had a problem shifting. i didn't think much of it at the time until it did it again after i came to another stop and accelerated once traffic started moving again. this time i pulled over to the side of the road. i then noticed the malfunction indicator lamp ("check engine light") came on the dash. the traction control (tcs) indicator also came on. i turned the car off, waited a few seconds, then started it again, hoping that would clear any faults. the indicators were still lit and when i went to put the vehicle in drive the drive "d" indicator was flashing green (it's normally solid green). i drove it a short distance to a nearby parking lot where i called a tow truck to come tow the vehicle to my local honda dealership. upon driving it to the parking lot i noticed that it wouldn't shift out of first gear. top speed i got was about 40 mph. also the engine was revving slightly. i then knew that the problem was more serious and i feared for the worse. while waiting for the tow truck i checked the error codes that was causing the check engine light to come on. it came back with three codes having to do with the shift solenoid valve a and clutch pressure control solenoid valve a being stuck on. the dealer called me back the next day and explained that they replaced the shift and clutch pressure control solenoids, were going to give it a test drive to see if that corrected the fault, and would call me back afterwards. the next call i received was devastating. i was told that it didn't fix the issue and that i would need a new transmission! i was completely shocked. the car just hit the 50,000 mile mark! i have babied this car since i first bought it new. i don't drive it rough and i follow the maintenance schedule to a t. how could this possibly be?

i was driving like any other day on the freeway and my passenger airbag deployed for no apparent reason- there was no accident at all. luckily there was no one in the passenger seat. after contacting honda they said they would send a representative to the local dealership to check to take care of the repair but the honda dealership in el cerrito ca did not want to pay for the repair and wanted to charge full amount to fix it saying the car is out of warranty. i needed my car soon for my transportation so i went to my trusted mechanic to repair the airbag and he informed me it was not safe to drive becuase the driver's airbag could deploy at anytime which could result in a crash or injury or fatality. i would appreciate a full refund from honda for cost of the repair as it came out to be $3,374.68. this cost is very high and i am not responsible for this safety malfunction. this is a major safety issue and i am very upset that honda does not want to fix what could have possibly caused a person harm. thank you updated 09/05/12*lj updated 09/10/2012 *js

we have had concerns about the brakes in this car since we purchased it from an individual six months ago. when you depress the brake pedal gently the car jerks forward practically sending the occupants in the vehicle through the windshield. on the other hand, when you really need to stop and apply the brakes quickly they do not respond, requiring a greater braking distance. we have taken our honda to two honda dealerships to register our complaints regarding our brakes and were told "this is just the way the 05 is". one individual actually laughed at the situation, which i find infuriating due to the safety factor. on nov,11, 2012 we were on i-40 and had to stop quickly due to an accident ahead of us. the lady in front of us came to a dead stop. i was watching the situation in front of us and began slowing down and braking. i hit the brake pedal and the car slowed down, but did not come to a stop. i then applied the brakes again, pressing the pedal to the floor, the car still did not stop until it hit the car in front of us. we have shared our concerns with our insurance company and they do not seem interested. together with a private investigator, we have found many complaints with the braking system in the accord and other models as well. people have registered complaints just like ours, concerned for their safety..afraid to drive their car.

i were driving on freeway 405 near ucla at 55mph. there was a completed flat tire on my left front wheel of honda accord 2005. i felt the flat tire and see the abs light on my dash board turned on. after complete flat tire, the tire debris rip off my abs sensor wire for the left front wheel. my rim has no damage. since my tire is only a few months old, so i get free replacement from costco. i think the honda has a bad design on the abs sensor wire to my left front wheel. the abs sensor wire is not properly covered. the flat tire debris ripped off the abs sensor wire. contact honda customer service about this. they said it is not their issue. i think a properly design car should not have anything rip off when a complete flat tire happened. honda should have covered the abs wire more effectively.

the defect concerns the failure of the mounting assembly for the driver's seat. this car has power front seats. the left rear mount for the driver's front seat has broken from the under carriage below the seat causing the left rear of the driver's seat to be disconnected and loose from the undercarriage and potentially the seat could come loose in an accident. the undercarriage contains the power equipment to move the seat and mount the seat. a honda dealer has inspected the seat and said the seat under carriage must be replaced at a cost of $750. i consider this a safety problem since the driver's seat mount is broken an the drivers seat could come loose in an accident.

honda accord 2005 2.4liter vtec 4dr/lx power steering fluid hose feed is leaking and honda wouldn't cover repairs. the power steering fluid hose feed is leaking because of cracks on the line.i have been adding fluid to the power steering reservoir for three months twice a month. last week i took the car to the dealership where the car was purchase in 2005 for regular maintenance and they saw the problem and diagnose. they indicated that the problem is part of the recall from honda last year. after running my car vin it came up that my car vin is not part of the recall vin list. i ask them why it is not part of the list. since my car was purchase in 2005 brand new and is part of the model year between 2003 to 2007. they say i should call honda and ask them about the car. so today 3/13/2013 i call honda and they indicated that my car vin is not part of the recall list as well. even though it is experiencing the problem from the october 2012 recall. they said it can't be cover. i will have to paid out of pocket. the dealership is charging about 500 to 600 for labor and parts to replace the bad power steering hose. i am writing to report this problem about my vehicle vin not been on the recall list. please help. concern 2005 honda accord 2.4 liter vtec single owner.

while waiting at a traffic light, i adjusted my driver side power seat and saw the air bag sensor light turn on at the same moment. i was not involved in any accident of any kind. i took it to the honda dealer and was told that the sensor failed and it would cost 660.00 to replace. apparently this sensor controls all the front airbags without which they will not deploy. i would like to add this safety complaint to the data base in case others have had the same problem.

driving on highway 101 in california the powertrain (automatic transmission) on our 6 cylinder honda failed at highway speeds. when we got to an exit, the car could not power up an exit ramp. the car even rolled backwards even when the transmission was put in park. prior to this problem we had no advance warning or inkling of any transmission difficulties. during this incident the warning light on the dash did not turn on. once we got to a repair facility we were told that the transmission had failed completely and the cost of a remanufactured unit would be about $4,400. after this incident we read up on honda's and discovered that such complete, no-warning failures are rather common in these honda accords. our extended warranty ran out six months ago. given the high number of these problems and the high cost involved, we believe that honda should repair or replace these units as losing power in a car on an interstate highway is very dangerous.

i was driving on interstate 20/59 near ft. payne, alabama with the cruise control set on 75 mph. i changed lanes to pass a slower car but did not touch the gas pedal. the car started to accelerate on its own. i tapped the breaks to turn cruise control off but the car continued to accelerate without touching the gas pedal. the acceleration was not a full throttle acceleration, just a moderate increase. i then shifted the car from drive to neutral and the rpm's jumped up to redline, again without touching the gas pedal. luckily, a rest area was approaching and i managed to pull the car into the rest area parking lot playing with the drive/neutral of the transmission and using the brakes. once i made it to a parking space i turned the car off and shifted it into park. i waited a few seconds and turned the car back on. the rpm's again jumped up to redline without me touching the gas pedal. i shut the car off again and put my foot underneath the gas pedal and pulled up. i cranked the car again and it acted normal. i checked under the hood and everything looked fine. after some deliberation, we decided to continue on our trip and the car was fine for the next 4.5 hours. we drove back sunday, may 19 and the car again drove fine for 6.5 hours and hasn't had a problem since. the morning before the incident, i changed the alternator and oil. i strongly believe that this had nothing to do with the alternator or oil change. also, i doubled checked the carpet mat in the car and it was not even close to the gas pedal. i am not sure if anyone else has experienced this problem with a honda accord. i am a mechanical engineer and i am dumbfounded by this. being in a car with uncontrollable acceleration is quite unnerving.

car details: - 05 accord se coupe with ~65k miles (automatic transmission, 4 cylinder) recently, i have noticed that the car will not accelerate even when i keep pushing the gas pedal. typically happens at around 50 to 60 mph marker (the mph needle will just stall at one location and not move). i have to tap the brake lightly a couple of times or let the car coast down without giving it any gas (it kind of releases whatever is holding the car from accelerating and releases the mph needle). i then accelerate the car again and it will go higher than 60 mph. keeps happening often (not every time though). my gas mileage is lower which confirms that something is happening. this is a serious safety issue on highways. i am not sure if this is related to all the transmission failure issues that honda accords continue to see on models manufactured in the mid 2000s.

i took my honda in for a power steering recall that was issued and asked the honda dealership to look into the reason why the airbag warning light was on. they called me back and said there were two fault codes one being the driver seatbelt buckle and the other being the drivers seat position sensor. i know there is already a recall on the driver seat position sensor but they said that my vehicle's vin was not affected by the recall. therefore, in order to fix this sensor i would have to pay to repair the part. i called honda america and they also told me it was my responsibility to repair the part since my vehicle did not have a vin affected by the driver seat position sensor recall. i find this odd that my vehicle is of a make model and year with a known defective part but yet it is not involved in the recall. i feel that this should be investigated further to see if there are more models that are affected by the drivers seat position sensor for the air bag. *tt

automatic transmission v6 accord. cruising at highway speed of 65,moderate traffic, around 4:35p, level ground, ambient temp of about 71, approx 2000 revs. transmission suddenly shifted down (no kick down), engine raced at 6500 revs, caused car to rapidly decelerate. luckily there was a gap in traffic behind me, otherwise could have shunted. took foot off gas, looking for gap to pull over to the shoulder when car suddenly shifted back into a gear normal for speed - revs dropped to about 2500 to 3000, speed around 45. gently pressed gas and increased speed back up to normal highway speed. a whine is coming the engine bay - more noticeable at lower speeds. transmission subsequently not shifting smoothly.

the srs light stays illuminated while the vehicle is on. dealership tested the system and found 2 codes. first code read the driver side seat buckle switch fault. second code read the driver side seat position sensor fault. both codes are causing the srs light to stay on. the driver side seat buckle switch is covered under warranty (at 143,000 miles). the driver side seat position sensor is not covered under warranty. there was a recall issued for the seat postion sensor but my vin does not fall within the listed vins called out on the document. why is it that a car with two different defective parts, that are causing the same issue, not both be covered by warranty on my car but is covered for other cars that are the same model and year? now i have a new driver side seat buckle switch with a srs light that is still on.

there are no any illuminating lights on for radio and a/c back lights when we turned on the head light. it was reported same issue for 2003 and 2004 honda accord, and honda offer 7 years or 100,000 miles extend warranty. we are not sure how many this cases for 2005 honda accord. it is really a big flaw related our safety, but we did not know that at all when we bought it. let me make it clear: our car is 2005 accord lx has 53,000 miles on it, has been 8 years since we bought it. when head light is on, its radio and a/c back light is dark.

while driving on the interstate my car lost power from the engine. the rpm's went higher but there was no power even though the engine continued to rev. there were no warning indicators on the dash to try to understand what was happening except for the rpm gauge. the transmission had completely disengaged just as if it were in neutral even though it was in 'drive'. the scariest part was that i was stuck in heavy traffic driving at highway speeds at night during a rainstorm and there were no visible warnings to observe other than the tachometer and sound of the engine revving up. i understand now that the transmission has started to fail prematurely due to overheated transmission fluid and needs to be replaced at a high cost.

driving to work in somewhat heavy traffic when i approached a slight incline. the engine began racing to redline and the transmission would not engage to move the car forward again. i was very nearly rear ended by the vehicle behind me as the car suddenly slowed down. i put on my hazards and pulled to the shoulder, and suddenly the gear engaged again and i was on my way. while slowing down further on in my drive, the transmission began pulsing and surging as i slowed nearly causing me to lose control. i backed off from the traffic and was almost to work when i approached another hill. this time the engine again raced to redline and i pulled to shoulder and shut the car down. i waited a minute and restarted and the vehicle appeared to be fine again. i drove the half mile to work and immediately setup an appointment to have the transmission looked at. i was able to make it to the dealer by keeping the drive select in 3rd and they have diagnosed the vehicle with a failed 2nd gear leaving me to foot the bill for a remanufactured transmission at over $5000. needless to say, my wife and i as the original owners of this vehicle are very disappointed and hopeful that honda will help to cover part of the repair. i am concerned that my wife and children could have been in the car when it lost power and could have been seriously injured in an accident and the vehicle is only 8 years old with 75k on the odometer.

the #2 spark plug shot out of the engine thru the ignition coil, stripped the threads of the cylinder, hit the firewall, and caused the engine to lose power immediately while on the freeway. repair costs quoted by dealer were $6200 to replace cylinder or $4650 plus $700 machining costs to repair. in reading the blogs of others, this defect is related to the v6 vtec engines and always involves the first or second cylinder only. in one case the honda manufacturer agreed to share the repair cost.

the back light where the radio is keeps coming in and out. the radio would work, and then not work. i can be in the middle of a song and it will go off. i can also be silent and it go on. the light with no letters would stay on the whole time. when i wanted the radio to sound i would have to disconnect the battery and connect it back up. at this point i will need to replace the radio. there is no recall for the 2005 radio, but there is for the 2003-2004. if its the same radio and people are having to replace a radio that should work, then why is there no recall. i am not the only owner of a 2005 honda accord that this is happening to. i replaced the fuse thinking it was this. it works for a while and then i realized that the fuses where no blown. please have this as a recall and the people at honda are not very helpful even when they admit to having other owners come in with the same problem.

even though i regularly maintain my car, my car stalls at random while driving and the steering also locks up. this is extremely dangerous - the malfunction could have killed me or potentially caused a serious accident. this incident happened while i was driving down a busy street road - there was no warning, and no indicator lights went off prior to this happening - the car just shut off (stalled) and the steering locked up! luckily i was able to get to the side of the road. i will never feel safe in a honda again.

car sat for 3 weeks in the winter of 2013. i was on maternity leave. i left for my first day of work and my battery was dead. i replaced the battery. all of a sudden it was a domino effect. radio doesn't work. it circles through fm1 fm2 and am about 3 times before it rests on am. none of my windows roll down except my drivers side. ive checked all fuses.... ive replaced the master window switch and nothing... so many people are having the same issue but no one says how to fix it or why it hasn't been issued as a recall. also my disk changer happened to eat my cd and wont cycle through aux or cd at all. ive taken this car to the dealership.. they told me to replace the master switch and i did... which was very expensive and it did nothing but cost me more money because now my auto key locks wont respond. im pissed.

a few years ago i noticed the headlights on my car were developing an opaqueness that reduced the amount of light thrown onto the roadway, certain dangerous in the darkness of night and exacerbated when driving on an unlit road. recently i have noticed more an d more older cars of various makes and models with the same problem and i wonder if all these manufacturers have bought the same high impact [lexan?] lenses from the same supplier. yeasrs ago glass headlamps did not suffer this aging process as does these newer plastic/polycarbon replacements. according to a report i read in consumers' report there really is no satisfactory way to restore clarity to these older lights. this problem begs the question "what to do?" should there be a recall or not...this is the auto companies' doing, not mine or any one else's driving a vehicle with reduced light from their headlamps. in case of a low visibilty caused accident whoo will bear the responsibility? isn't this as serious as other safety issues confronting consumers, e.g., gm's ignition switch, various airbag problems, brake pedal issues, et al>?

my daughter rear ended another car at very low speed causing minimal damage to the front bumper and a slight dent in the hood. the impact caused the airbag to deploy, or more accurately to "detonate" sending hot metal and plastic shrapnel into the cabin. as a result of this minor accident my daughter sustained severe burns, bruises and abrasions on her arms and legs. honda admits that the airbag was not designed with this in mind but refuses to take any responsibility other than to present me with a bill for $3700.00. there is no denying that my daughter was at fault in the accident but her injuries and the excessive damage (the entire steering column was blown apart) were only due to honda's faulty airbag and safety design for which they should be held accountable. .... updated 08/05/14 *bf updated 08/11/2014 *js

the clear coat started falling off my 05 honda accord at around 105000 miles (around november of 2012). honda refused to repaint the vehicle blaming the issue on the owner's poor care. however, it is clear the problem is not with the owner, but rather with the paint honda uses. this is evidenced by the class action lawsuit in which honda extended the paint warranty for seven years on their odysees for darker colors including "midnight pearl." it happens that this is the same color which is currently "melting" off my 05 accord. honda should not be making owners pay thousands of dollars to repaint their vehicles after owning them for only a few years before experiencing problems.

air bag red icon kept coming on on dash and have been trying to get this fixed for over a year. don't understand why honda does not consider long island, ny, a humid territory. honda needs to visit long island to see how humid it is. this car must be used for a road test next week and i must now pay out of pocket to get the icon off permanently and the problem fixed, as well as have the air bags replaced to ensure they are good. i would like to get reimbursed. thank you,

SEAT BELTS

srs indicator light illuminated upon unbuckling driver's side seat belt with engine running. srs light would remain on after placing seat belt back into the buckle. the srs light would also illuminate at random while driving with seat belt in buckle. the only temporary solution was to stop/start the engine. honda's diagnosis was a faulty seat belt buckle requiring a complete replacement which resolved the issue. however, the dealer would not honor the lifetime seat belt warranty for this repair.
