VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

the throttle on this car is so poorly designed that when you want to proceed from a stop, the car will not do so slowly, but rather peels out or accelerates so suddenly it is dangerous. two dealers have looked at it and say it is performing as designed. a technician at the ca state garage almost crashed the car when trying to put it into the car wash when it suddenly accelerated on him. the car only has 2500 miles on it and it has only had me as the driver, even though it is owned by the state of ca. this has been happening since i was assigned the car and it had only 10 miles on the odometer. *jb

i was driving on the highway 6:40 a.m. and crashed with tow horses, i was driving at 150 km/hr and the tow air bag do not open, i ask the dealer why the air bags do not open and the answer was because i pushed the brake, the damage in the car was a lot but the air bag do not open. *jb

i was starting to turn left to enter a highway on ramp when suddenly the car lost steering for a second and i had no control of the car. i hit the brakes and clipped a curb which blew out the right front tire and damaged the wheel. i took the car to the dealership and their service department reported nothing wrong with the steering or front end. the service manager said i need to contact chrysler and try to get them to replace my tire and wheel. the car only had 3,750 miles on it and the road was dry and free or anything which would cause it to not turn. other cars had no problem turning left. *jb

my daughter was driving home when another vehicle made an illegal left turn in front of her. at the time of the crash, she was going approx. 40 mph, but the air bag did not deploy, the seat belt flew off and the driver seat flew forward (and yes everything was locked in place). because of the accident, she had a strained neck, shoulder, back and because the seat flew forward, her knees were injured. i sent a complaint to dodge, but because the insurance company had already repaired the car, they did not want to look at the car. at the auto shop, they did not check to see if the air bags worked (or even if there are air bags in the steering wheel) or find out why the seat flew of or why the driver seat flew forward. all of my children have been putting their seat belts on since they were small children -- i can guarantee that the seat belt was secure. *jb

purchased the car in june 2007 still under warranty thinking i would not have problems since any repairs should be covered under warranty. i have taken the car in 6 times for the same repairs. the first is the brakes, they squeak and rub. they have scrubbed them 3 different time and it still is happening. (they are collecting moisture to cause rust) the second is a bump stop which i understand is common in dodge/chrysler products. they refuse to do anything more with it since when they put it on the machine the codes come back with no problems. they had replaced some of the parts back a few months ago. this repair cut down on the amount of bump stops but did not stop them. there is a creaking sound in the front end. they have greased the struts and replaced a carried arm. the noise is still there. the lights dim after 17-30 seconds when the car is running. everyone but the mechanics seems to see this one happening. dealer also sold this vehicle without disclosing it had been in a prior accident!

tl*the contact owns a 2006 dodge stratus. while driving approximately 60 mph, the engine revved. the contact applied pressure to the brakes and the engine returned to normal. one month later, while driving approximately 55 mph downhill, the vehicle dramatically accelerated. the contact depressed the brake pedal, but the vehicle would not decelerate. he shut off the vehicle and restarted it moments later. he restarted the vehicle and coasted to a nearby dealer. the dealer stated that there was throttle failure, which caused the oil pump to fail as well. the engine is in the process of being repaired. the current and failure mileages were 35,856.

my complaint is that i purchased a 2006 dodge stratus in 2006. and am already working on putting in my second bottom end of the motor. it started leaking oil at 17,000 miles and now it's started back leaking oil in the same spot at 46000 miles. to say the least my work order to get my now out of warranted car fixed says the same thing it said at 17000 miles. now i'm looking at paying out over 5,500 dollars to get it fixed again. and still have to make a car payment on this junk!!!

jan 17,2008 car started leaking oil at 53,300 miles. call dealership said bring in to replace the main crank seal and hopefully that should fix problem and if not the i would have to replace crank shaft. well 3,000 miles later less than a month later car started leaking oil again. car been parked since call dealership set up to have crank shaft replace there was a service bulletin that they told me replace the crank shaft and the car would been fine this was may 20,2008 it took then a month to get my part with my car sitting at the dealership then a week and half they call me saying the crank shaft wouldn't work because basely the crank had destroy my engine and i need to replace the engine. i've try to get the dealership to either replace the bad engine or give me a reasonable trade .i was told by there service people to put a seal in it and get rid of it down the road at another dealership since i didn't have the money to replace the motor then the same thing from there general manger when i asked for help they told me to take it down the road at another dealership and get rid of it. i had them replace the seal again trying to take my car home in less than a 1 1/2 the seal came out again i have called at different time to get this problem resolve the won't even return my calls .i have contacted the corp and still haven't any result.

ii was in a accident and my seatbelt did not lock nor did the airbags deploy. i rearended someone at 25mph. they were stopped on the freeway. so it was a fairly hard hit. i fractured my sternum,and bruised chest,there was a big lump in middle of breastbone. currently under a cardiologist for several tests on heart. my out of pocket expenses was $5,281 dollars,hers was minimal. i am just lucky i am not dead and she was not hurt.

tl*the contact owns a 2006 dodge stratus. while driving 60-70 mph, the vehicle suddenly stopped in the middle of the road. the entire engine shut off and the power steering and brakes became inoperable. there were no warning indicators illuminated on the instrument panel prior to the failure. the vehicle was towed to a repair center and then to firestone repair center because firestone was the last repair shop to service the vehicle. the dealer was called and they towed the vehicle to the chrysler dealer, which cost $400 and included a diagnostic test. the dealer stated that they would not touch the vehicle until the $400 was paid. the contact called the manufacturer because the vehicle should have been under warranty. it was purchased four months prior to the start of the failure. a representative at the manufacturer stated that they do not pay for the diagnostic tests, only the repairs. the failure mileage was 34,000.

my 2006 stratus has just 44,000 miles. i noticed a puddle of oil under my car and had to have it towed to a dealership. after having my car for a month, the dealership said the crankshaft had pushed into the engine and the entire engine now needed to be replaced. after looking on the internet, i have learned that there are many people with the same issue, and dodge does not want to acknowledge the problem.

the right side passenger head light continues to blow out from some kind of short in the wiring. i notice alot of dodge status on the road with a headlight out. there is also a water spot always in the passenger side floor with no antifreeze smell just a water smell. i have replace 3 headlights in 3 months. far to many. is there a problem with the fuses the reason for the bulbs burning out? when the air condition is running and you are driving along put on the brakes you hear a sizzling sound as you are slowing down. and finally the brakes have chattered since day one of purchasing this car. they rumble and grind as this car had 48, 000 miles on it when i purchased it in 2008. thanks

since 2006 my '06 dodge stratus has spontaneously accelerated approximately seven times, most recently in february 2010. idling in a driveway or at an intersection, the engine will begin to race as if i had floored the gas pedal. only by shifting into park and/or turning off the ignition am i able to prevent the car from accelerating into the intersection or a wall. the dodge dealer who regularly serviced the vehicle said they could not diagnose the problem unless the car was hooked up to their equipment at the time of the next occurrence. consequently, nothing has been done to fix this.

tl* the contact owns a 2006 dodge strauss. the contact was driving 65 mph as he noticed smoke emitting from the steering column. the headlights and blinkers failed yet there were no warning lights illuminated. the vehicle was shut off and the smoke vanished. the dealer advised that the multi-function switch within the steering column overheated and burned. the multi-function switch would need replacing yet the parts needed for the repair were on back order. the manufacturer was called and a complaint was filed. a representative was sent to inspect the vehicle and confirmed the failure. the manufacturer advised that they were awaiting a response from their legal department before proceeding with any type of repairs. the failure and current mileage was 40,000.

bought 2006 dodge stratus in 2007, it had very low miles. not even a year later its began to have electrical problems and repeatedly had check engine lights on. also we had the fuse replaced, had windows checked because they weren't working properly but it was too expensive to fix so we left them broken. check engine light had stopped but recently began to come on again. we had took it to the transmission place they drove the car and said he didn't feel anything wrong with the car and if the light came back on to bring it back to the shop. transmission still keeps slipping and sometimes we smell a substance like rubber burning and at this moment the lights still on but it most likely will turn off before i make it back to get it checked out.

without warning, while driving my 2006 dodge stratus sxt at 35 mph the bolts on the caliper bracket broke. i had no brakes and had to have it towed. one of the bolts crumbled in the mechanics hands when he removed it and the caliper bracket was bent. the bolts broke and bracket bent on the front driver's side of the car. a bracket was ordered from a local dealership and installed on my car. the brakes are good but now on the left front there is a constant squeak which worsens when braking and from time to time while driving, a knocking sound comes from the same area. i have put it in the shop twice but the knocking sound is so sporadic the mechanics have not heard it.

oil leaked from under my car and i thought it was a faulty oil filter. it was diagnosed as a fault thrust bearing being worn after only 47,900 miles on my dodge stratus 2006 with a 2.4l engine. i had it repaired costing just under $1,300 and the oil seal went again in only one week.

my car leaks water into the passenger compartment when i run defrosters/air conditioning. i looked this up on line and it is a problem with the drain tube on dodge/ chrylser car. this is not a recall on my car but a complaint on the car. there is a recall on 2008 dodge caravans/chrysler town/country's. the dodge dealerships says it cannot help me because my car does not have recall. i have had this problem for over a year. also on line other people have had this problem also, when you look it up.

the front oil seal came out of its seat causing massive oil leak. after engine removal and disassembly i found the wrong lower main thrust bearing was installed. this caused excessive stress on the top thrust bearing causing bearing failure causing end play in crankshaft resulting in oil seal failure. fire danger from oil covering underside of vehicle. the lower main bearings were all the same. no flanged thrust bearing. *kb

my 2006 dodge stratus rear strut mount plates are disintegrated. have only had this car a year and i took it in for inspection and the garage said i was very lucky i hadn't been in an accident due to the tie rod was falling apart. i am a single mother of 2 children and i am very fortunate that nothing happened. after being told by the garage about this i did research on the internet to find that there are many complaints about the rear strut mounts falling apart and literally crumbling. yet i can not find it on a recall list. dodge needs to recall this problem. i hope this is taken seriously and an investigation into this issue is pursued by the safety commission since there are so many complaints on the internet. i only had the money to fix the tie rod. now some how soon i have to come up with the money for the strut mount plates, need to be replaced so i can drive this car safely with my 2 children.

i was driving down the high way when i heard a bang and the car pulled me hard into the medium at 75 miles an hour. i totaled my car. this is the second time the ball joint has sheared off causing the tire to jam in to the fender. first time i was able to get of the road and it was on the driver side of the vehicle. this time it was on the left side of the vehicle. my 3 young kids where in the back seat and could have been seriously injured. something needs to be done.

tl* the contact owns a 2006 dodge stratus. the contact stated that she noticed fluid leaking from her vehicle. the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. after diagnosis, they advised her that oil was leaking due to the seals and they needed to replace the engine. the vehicle was repaired. the manufacturer was contacted and they offered no assistance. the failure and current mileages was approximately 105,000.

ENGINE

valve gasket cover on engine leaks oil. this is now the 3rd time this has happened in less than a year. it happened in january, february and now in november 2013. the 3rd time the oil leak caused a fire on the engine. the auto place told me every time they fix this, the engine somehow eventually warps the valve gasket cover. this would suggest a defect within the vehicle. it has become both expensive and dangerous.

1. driving at 45-50 mph on straight highway 2. catastrophic tire failure on right rear. inside of side wall of tire blew out. entire tread unzipped and separated from both side walls. 3. replaced with spare tire.

the mechanic told me that the engine needs to be replaced. sludge on the pick up tube clocked the screen and the engine seized. always had the oil and filter changed every 3000 miles. never herd of having to drop the pan and clean a pick up tube when doing a routine oil change. owned lots of cars in the 30 years i been driving and never experience this. car has been sitting in my driveway for over a year and i still have to make payments every month. don't have the money for a new engine. thanks dodge. i will never ever buy a dodge again. piece of crap engine.
