ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING

while driving my 2008 dodge magnum, my car completely shut off without warning and not one light inside turned on indicating a problem. this has happened on three occasions when i first purchased the vehicle. the cars computer was reflashed twice and i don't know what was done besides that. it obviously didn't fix the problem cause my car has shut off plenty of times after that. the last occasion was monday 02-15-10 while in the parking lot, as i put the car in reverse the car stalled when i took my foot off the brake. it just shut off again but this time an actual light came on. the malfunction light came on.

08 magnum purchased 08.08.2009 w/ 40,235 miles w/ 48,000 extended warranty. around january of 2010 stalling in parking lots, at traffic lights, while in reverse. while regular driving car will buck, as though neutral was engaged and disengaged. this may occur weekly, no diagnosis was made on multiple trips. now while driving at 65-70mph on highway on 6/04/2010, right front tie rod end "explodes". i was able to wrestle control of the vehicle and safely pull over to shoulder after nearly hitting wall. both tie rod ends are currently being replaced, after mechanic describes left tie rod as having " excessive play". speed sensor damaged because right tie rod explosion. as off now the extent of the damage is still being assessed, and the old parts have been requested to stay with the car as proof. the engine troubles and excessive stalling has not been diagnosed. purchased dodge because of love for the quality and cars. after investigating; recalls/complaints, numerous forums i have found this problem to be in the hundreds. please open a case, i have waited to file a compliant so that i would have time to do research and make sure i would not be "crying wolf". currently i am terrified to accept the car, because if the left tie rod end was not identified as problematic, then it is possible that i could have been awaiting repairs for the same problem later down the road. and i am unsure if i can keep worrying about when and where the car will stall next. it is nerve racking to have to constantly panic when it does, or even if it will start back up, especially when this should not be a issue. thank you.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

i have not fixed any of the problems yet. i have a 2008 dodge magnum. the tail lights don't work at all. i've almost been rear-ended at night several times. the cruise control quit working. the car jerks very badly going into 3rd gear from 2nd. the car will not crank once every two days or so. the car cuts off at interstate speeds and when i'm not prepared it almost runs me off the road. the gauges cut all the way off while driving once every weeks. the check engine light stays on even though i've reset the computer several times. the front axle pops really bad when going around curves once or twice a month. the interior lights go dim for no reason on occasion. i've checked all fuses and relays and there is no problem. the dealership says that they've never had problems with this car although there are extreme amounts of internet forums talking about the problems with this car. this is only one site that has the problems. please help us! http://thearticlewriter.com/autowriter/is-the-dodge-magnum-a-lemon/ .

POWER TRAIN

there is a piece in the driving gear shift that allows you to shift out of park and drive your vehicle. when this piece breaks it will not allow the gear shift to move out of park. this has been occurring in many dodge vehicles. i have had four other people complain that this has happened to their car also. it seems to be a little plastic piece that seems very easy to break. it is inside the driving gear shift. it will just not allow the vehicle to move out of park but will allow to move through drive, reverse, and the other shifts.

UNKNOWN OR OTHER

while driving home from work in my 2008 dodge magnum r/t one of the cooling fans disintegrated and damaged my radiator punching holes and causing coolant to begin rapidly leaking. after assessing the damage i was able to limp the car along to the next auto parts store i purchased 2 gallons of coolant in an attempt to get the car to a mechanic, it only made it 2 blocks since the leaking was so severe. i had it towed to my mechanic where he advised me of a recall and i should contact dodge. i began researching the cause of this equipment failure. it turns out that chrysler released a recall "customer satisfaction notification l08 engine cooling fans" for 2006 thru 2008 model year vehicles with "severe duty engine cooling" systems with the sales code nms, xdl or xdk and built through april 29, 2008. my vehicle has the sales code nmcs and has been excluded from the recall. however my research reveals that there is no distinguishable difference in the fans part number from the years 2004 thru 2014. contacting chrysler about this brought no results. i recommend establishing a record of these fan failure occurrences in vehicles that have other than the recall's stated sales codes, and that a new recall for all vehicles with this cooling fan system be released. the existing recall includes "sold to sales codes and/or are currently registered in warm climate states...". i live in a designated warm climate state according to the recall. we were fortunate that the blades didn't cut any high pressure hydraulic lines or other safety critical or fuel lines
