we purchased a 2010 chevy equinox aug. 20, 2009 and failed to check where the fuel fill door was located. it is on the righthand side of the vehicle which is the wrong side. it creates a safety hazard when getting fuel. ( getting out into station traffic, walking between cars and being a longer distance from the drivers door when most people leave their keys in the car when fueling. the vehicles darts quickly when traveling which is noticeable in the back seat. (may be caused by vehicle stability system) the front doors are located so that i bump my head (have cut my head) unless the seat is back as far as possible. gm has no retrofit to move fuel fill door or unit to put seats back to give more head room.

while driving my 2010 chevy equinox in a straight line for a period of time the steering wheel binds up and you have to give a tug to get it freed up. it has been in the dealer 3 times and after the power steering pump was replaced it still does it. i opened a file with chevy on the problem and the response i received was that is the way the new steering is designed. nothing comes up on the scanner so they are unable to diagnose the problem,yet the service manager took the car home himself and he admitted it happened to him.

on 09/04/09 i bought a new 2010 equinox and within 3,000 miles i began experiencing significant shifting issues and rough idling/stalling at stops. on 01/08/10 i will be taking the vehicle to the service shop for the 4th time in 60 days for these problems. very concerning is that every time i have taken the vehicle in for service a new gm service bulletin exists for these problems. however, gm is not proactively addressing these known issues with buyers. rather the onus has been put into the buyers hands. why if they know a problem exists are they not obligated to contact buyers? there are a significant number of others experiencing these problems you will find on the web, ie edmunds. the following is a chronology of my experience: #1) 12/08/09-2,561 miles: car hesitating badly when accelerating, vibrating bad at idle with s intermittent stalls. gm bulletin 4469g-metal shaving left behind in the tranny. replace oil, replace actuator solenoids due to debris build-up. #2) 12/15/09-2,713 miles: rough idling/hesitation. replaced oil like before, no debris. service bulletin for ecm update for tcm and pcm. service tech told me that they had several other buyers experiencing these problems. #3) 12/22/09-2,939 miles: unable to merge onto thruway and get up to speed do to bucking and vehicle not accelerating/shifting. almost involved in accident trying to merge and gain speed. bucking at stops and stalling. service code p0011 found in computer for intake position system failure. needed 2 cam shaft actuators again. replaced oil & filter. 01/08/10-~3,900miles: continued rough idle. poor/hard shifting/hesitation to shift especially in 3 & 4 gear. in 3 & 4 engine sounds muffled and struggles to gain speed as if the tran is up-shifting too quickly. when up-shifting in higher gears it hesitates and then jolts. in summary, i am taking vehicle in for the 4th time, same problems. nys lemon law being considered. each time i have lost vehicle.

my brand new chevrolet equinox 2010, which has less than 2000 miles has been overheating already. i took it into the dealership and they have no idea what the problem is. the temperature gauge does not work at times. the error message that i am getting: "ac off due to high engine temperature".

the center console (where the controls are for the radio, heater/ac, defroster, hazards, door locks, etc.) intermittently goes on and off, and locks up unexpectedly. it first occurred on 1 dec 09, again on 2 jan 10, and several times since. vehicle examined by landers-mclarty chevrolet in huntsville al, they witnessed problem but could not fix or remedy. they opened a technical case #11124962, and gm opened case #71-790900576. no fix to date, although they promise that a solution is being worked. several safety issues are presented by the console?s erratic operation (sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't). it is winter now, and when the console is out, the heater, defroster, door locks, hazard lights and on-board warning system (via the menu button) do not work. starting and shutting the engine off 20-plus times (dealers recommended temp fix to re-set system) does not seem like a viable solution, and it certainly presents added stress on the starter and causes excessive engine wear in cold temperatures.

2010 equinox, 6070 miles. went to go to store, started car, no radio or heater. turned off engine, then restarted vehicle, and both worked, have not had prob. since. called gm, they said to take it to the dealer to be checked out. i will wait until it does it again to take it in. they will not be able to do anything if it is not broken at the time i take it to service dept.

i have a 2010 equinox ltz with about 11,000 miles on it. it was recently in for replacement of the part that operates the radio and heat/air controls (there is a recall on this). i have recently discovered that if you hold down the unlock button on the remote that all four windows will roll down and the car will be unlocked. there is no documentation on this in the owner's manual and the service technician at the dealership says this is a built-in feature to cool off the car on hot days. i consider this a safety issue because the remote could accidentally be activated as i am leaving the vehicle for an extended period of time or at night.

my 2010 chevrolet equinox has an automatic door lock feature which automatically locks all doors when the vehicle is placed into gear. my concern is that if by accident, high water, or some other circumstance, the power locks and windows become inoperative as a result of electronic failure, and occupants become trapped in the vehicle. the door lock post cannot be grasped when in locked position. the dealer informs me this feature cannot be turned off. there has been no incident. i have to fill in the incident date in order to file the complaint.

i bought a 2010 chevy equinox in nov 2009. whenever a passenger rides with me using a laptop the passenger-side airbag light goes "off" and the dashboard computer display says "service passenger airbag." it's consistent and very much a safety issue since the passenger airbag would not deploy in an accident while using the laptop. we do a lot of long-distant driving and laptop use is a business necessity. the chevy safety folk said, "don't use a laptop" - a very unsatisfactory response.

rough idle during cold start of my 2010 chevy equinox 2.4l 4 cylinder engine engine idles rough and misses until it warms up when it gets below 40 degrees took car to dealer at 2,000 miles in november, they said everything was fine and to specifications. said they would keep a eye out for service bulletins on cold starting, never heard from them. car continue to run rough on cold start. found on my own a gm service bulletin in dec. #p00010 on cold start require calibration of engine. called dealer told them where to find service bulletin they found it and then took the car in . same problem still exists even after two service visits. the dealer says "they will keep their eye out for another service bulletin on the cold weather starting" as everything is up to specifications on the car. the car still runs rough and misses until it warms up.

bought a 2010 chevy equinox on oct. 31st..have had it 5 months and has 5,500 miles on the motor is making a severe or really loud ticking noise. took it to 2 chevy dealers and they tell me this is normal but when you start one up on the lot it makes no where near the noise mine does. they tell me it is normal for this kind of fuel injectors and refuse to fix it. was not loud at all when we purchased the vehicle now it just keeps getting louder. it really is a shame when we pull up next to an older car and it is quieter than our brand new one.

2010 equinox 4000 miles. when driving a loud squealing noise comes from engine. took it to dealer and they replaced the serp belt the first time. still squealing and took it back the next week where they state it was the pwer steering gear. replaced the power steering gear and car still makes the same noise. on my third attempt to replace a random engine part picked out by whatever machining is free for the day.

tl* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet equinox equipped with onstar remote diagnostic system capability. while driving 45 mph, the air bag warning light illuminated on the dashboard. onstar was contacted and performed a diagnostic. they advised that the air bag was not functioning. the dealer repaired and re-routed the side impact wires under the driver's seat. the failure persisted and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer. the dealer cleared the failure codes and advised the failure was intermittent and they could not provide a remedy to correct it. there were no further repairs to the vehicle. the failure mileage was 13,376 and the current mileage was 13,739.

i had a 'sticky' steering problem back on jan. 2010 during a trip north to canada. it happened again last week on a long trip to sandusky ohio, and it has gotten worse! based on my experience i think this problem happens only on very flat highway in good condition, such as the ohio turnpike and 405 in canada. as soon as i get into michigan (horrible i75 condition) the problem is not noticeable anymore.

bought a chevy 2010 equinox back in november of this yr., at 5,000 miles i noticed a secondary noise rattling/knocking type of sound coming from my engine (at acceleration). brought the vehicle to the dealership 3x no results. i brought my car to 2 different independent mechanics both noticed and observed the noise and both seem to believe the noise is lack of fuel getting to the engine causing mini explosions to the engine, therefore causing holes in the pistons which would cause further engine damage. i contacted gm and the dealership both ignore the problem and will not acknowledge at this time, later found out from the gm dealerships service station that according to gm tech assist that there are 20 other cases like mine that they were notified of and gm is not willing to do anything about, this to me is a major safety concern to myself and my family. now i have more miles and the noise is getting louder and more frequent. i don't feel safe driving my car knowing that my engine could be severely affected. i have brought my car back to dealership 3x to no prevail. please help!

2010 chevrolet equinox. had an issue with the transmission "slipping" or bumping between shifts. i brought it to dealer twice. said it was programming issues - supposedly fixed it - but still doing it. then last week with only 26,000 miles - i had a stability track light come on and it idled very roughly. i left it at dealer to be fixed - over a week ago! they said it is a timing balance chain??? i will not buy another gm!

since the purchase of my 2010 chevy equinox i have been experiencing rough shifts (clunks into gear) when the vehicle shifts up into 3rd gear. i took the vehicle to the dealer and they couldn't find anything wrong but went ahead and flashed the ecu. the vehicle worked fine for about 2 weeks then began to do the same thing again. at times it clunks so hard it feels like you have hit something. there are many complains on edmunds about rough shifts up and down gears. there is also another complaint on here. gm needs to fix this issue or replace my transmission.

i have a 2010 chevy equinox and it is making a knocking noise everytime i give it gas this is a brand new truck i shouldn't be having this problem i have taken it back and forth to the service and they keep telling me that nothing is wrong with it that's its normal well i don't think so i think that this truck is a lemon and if something isn't done with my truck i will call the channel 7 on yourside and then i will sue the gm people for not doing anything about this problem i am very upset over this,and i m sure that other people are having the same problem as me.

my 2010 chevrolet equinox steering binds up after the vehicle is warmed up. the binding happens when turning slightly to the right or left from a straight ahead position. it is most noticeable above 50 mph. the binding causes the driver to over correct and may cause an accident in wet or snow conditions. after the steering begins to bind, it intermittently binds at all speeds during that drive. when the vehicle cools down the steering returns to normal. i took the vehicle to the dealer on 10-13-2010 and demonstrated the problem to their "front end" technician. he experienced the problem but had no clue as to what the problem is. he said he would call technical assistance on 10-19-2010.

sticky steering, the steering wheel sticks and you have to give it a slight tug to the left or right to get it to move off the center. it is noticeable on good surfaces. i worry about the safety of the steering especially if the surface is slippery. started in sept 2010.

on aug 15, 2010 my new chevy equinox, with only 717 miles on it, stalled in the middle of the st. it was towed (mirak chevrolet) on sunday aug 15th, and they didn't fix the problem until tues. aug 24th. in the interim i had been told that they didn't know what the problem was and finally a whole new transmission had to be ordered. i have called the chevrolet corp. and the gm executive offices to inform them that this is completely unacceptable. a brand new car only 3 weeks old should not need a new transmission. i told them that i don¿t want the car because i have a child and i do not feel safe in it. gm told me that there was nothing that they could do; i had to take it back. on nov 1st i was driving home with my daughter after work and my car stalls again in rush hour traffic. this time i had my vehicle towed to the dealership that i brought it from (quirk chevrolet), and called gm again to notify them of what happened. the service advisor who was dealing with my vehicle [xxx] said that the problem this time was due to debris getting into the cam shaft screen/filter. i told gm that i do not want that car anymore, either give me a new car or refund my money and i will take my business elsewhere. again, they told me that i have to take the car back and there was nothing they could do. i told them that this is a vehicle that stalls in the middle of the street while driving. this is a huge safety issue! on nov. 4th i went to the dealership to get my car. [xxx] let me transfer my belongings in the service garage, told me drive out of the garage. as i was pulling out of the garage i tried to avoid hitting another car but didn't clear the turn, i wound up scrapping and damaging the side of my car[xxx]didn't guide me nor did he tell me to stop when i was about to hit the side of the garage, he just stood there watching. his manager ([xxx]) came out and told me i have to get my insurance to pay for it. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

just one day there wasn't heat on my 2006 chevy equinox with 50,900 miles. without heat frost could form on the windshield and block visibility. a quick check on the net indicated a common problem (latent defect?) that the stub to the actuator on the temperature blend door breaks off. i took it to a chevy dealer and it took them 8.5 hours to replace the temperature blend door.

i bought a 2010 chevrolet equinox in july of 2010. it had 5,500 miles on it when i started seeing patches of thousands of tiny cracks on the windshield. you could only see them when the car was facing the sun. i washed the car all summer myself, and i was very careful. i took it to the dealer, and he pointed out that it covered the windshield and all the side and back windows. it looks like someone sanded all the windows with a fine sandpaper. he said that he has seen this many times before, but gm will not do anything about it, because they say it is not a defect. they said the cause is frequent washes at touchless car washes, or some mileage. gm knows they have a problem, because they put out a service bulletin on it. it is #00-08-48-005d. it covers 2011 and prior gm passenger cars and trucks. it says in the bulletin that the repair will require replacing all the glass on the car. when you drive into the sun, the thousands of tiny cracks blind you and sunglasses don't help. they said as a gesture of good will, they will replace the windshield, but none of the other glass. i am stuck with a car with 6500 miles on it with defective window glass that gm says is too bad, but it is not covered under the 3 year or 36,000 mile warranty.

steering sticks when having to make a slight adjustment in keeping the vehicle to drive in straight line. this occurs when driving on a freeway at speeds above 50 mph. the steering also sticks when steering into a slight bend on a freeway. this causes an over correction in keeping the vehicle in the desired path. this over correction does not result in driving the vehicle outside of the lane unless you were already riding the divider between lanes.

a few issues...... the biggest being the fact the vehicle was brand new it has had a shake in the steering wheel as well as the whole vehicle. you can visually see and feel the steering wheel shake while driving. had it into the dealership on many occasions, they balances the tires, checked the wheels, guaranteed me it was the tires, replaced 2 and said all fixed! nope annoyed that this was the 5th visit, asked for 4 new tires and i paid the difference to upgrade from the hankook's to the michelin's. picked vehicle up and the shale was still there, and they scratched 2 of the wheels while changing the tires. advised the dealership i would address this when i needed an oil change as i had enough! took it in on a tuesday am they advised me they were going to change a and try a few things.... friday they call me and say they also had an engineer from head office look at it, and no fix! so i have to go pick up a vehicle that i bought brand new, and it shakes? i would have bought used! i am now going to talk to the owner and say this is not acceptable! apparently its a v6 issue? the 09 and 11 have the same issue? really? i also have had a sticky note on the dash to cover the chrome clip used to open the storage area on the dash. as it shines right in your eyes while driving? again has no one test drove these vehicles? not impressed that i spent 47k and have a lemon!

air bag light on the driver's instrumentation illuminates when temperatures drop below mid-20's. this has happened beginning in late november or early december 2010. the date below (jan. 23, 2011) is today's date, since it happened again this morning. i have taken it to the dealer, which says only that there was a code but no indication as to what is wrong. dealer reset code. also contacted onstar when it occurred and received a code back (b0023). dealer verified that they pulled the same code. we purchased the car in november 2009, but had no problems the first winter. we are now in the second winter, when the problem showed up. it doesn't matter if someone is sitting in passenger seat or not, and it doesn't matter if we are driving or parked (it actually comes on when we start the car in very cold weather, so the car is not moving at this point). but the air bag light does illuminate (almost a guarantee) when the temperature drops below 25 degrees. after driving several miles or several minutes, the light goes out. i suspect (and the dealer concurs) that it may be wire harness or sensor contacts that are separating in extreme cold (due to metallic contraction). dealer said the fact that the light comes on should be no problem if it goes off after a while. i challenged him on it and added, "yes, as long as the vehicle is not involved in an accident during that time," at which statement dealer service man hem-hawed around. i think this is an issue. *ln

my wife and i bought a preowned 2010 equinox with low mileage and a short time later i was checking fluid levels and noticed the oil was 2qts low, added oil. short time later we went on a trip and a while later i checked oil level and it was down a quart. called chevy dealer where it was bought and they said they would do a oil consumption test to see how munch oil it was using. dealer ship changed oil and was down a quart. service technician said he had no ideal where the oil was going, and i told him it was pretty clear that the motor was burning it, number one the tailpipe was black as the ace of spades and there must be a factory defect in the engine. i have spoke with gm head office about this and they did give me a claim number.

our 2010 equinox 2lt 2.4l (4 cyl) that we bought in aug. 2009 started having stalling/rough idle problems after a year, we took it to the dealer 5 times. they kept saying that there is casting sand clogging the solnoids.they claimed to clean it out each time. they finally gave us a new engine but we don't feel safe driving it because we are starting to feel the same problems again. there is a bulletin for all this. we have contacted gm and they won't help us. i guess we will have to call a lemon lawyer. i have seen others with this problem. why won't gm do anything for us or really it?

"service air bag" light has come on, and the warning chime goes off every 20 seconds. first incident occurred about 2 months after taking delivery of the new 2010 equinox. oakland, ca chevy dealer informed us that with this light on, there is no airbag protection. the dealership replaced a "faulty module". about one month later, the same problem occurs. i try calling the oakland dealership to bring the car in, and no answer. after 2 weeks of calling, i stop by dealership and it's closed. i take the car to the novato dealership (40 miles away), they acknowledge there is a problem, but cannot provide a loaner car because they do not know it will take longer than 6 hours to fix. i have no way of getting home. so i drive the car home (with no airbags). i hear the oakland dealership is opening under new owner, so i will take car back to them when they open. i drive this car as little as possible because of the problem.

on jan 17th,2011 my vehicle was wrecked by the dealer on site of dealership. the whole front end was caved in on center. the driver a mechanic at don woods chevrolet was driving at a higher then normal speed. he hit a pole dead center and the air bag did not deploy. the driver was injured to what extent i am not sure, but i am not wanting this car back feeling the airbag may deploy at anytime due to the hit it took or it isn't safe and will not deploy upon an accident.

i purchased a brand new equinox from chevrolet in 08/31/2010. since 10/30/2010, i've had ongoing issues with this vehicle. two incidents of which, i almost had near-death car accidents. this is the third time i am in a rental car, totaling to about a month so far in rentals. first incident in october, i had to drive with my hazards on to even get to the dealership. my speedometer and tech would accelerate, however, it felt like i was in neutral. it was serviced for about 2-3 weeks and they said they fixed the problem. then 2 weeks ago, i had just got off a 3-lane 65 mph highway, when my vehicle stalled on me. i remember looking down at the dash while i was driving, the speedometer said i was going 100 mph but i wasn't moving. i was nearly rear-ended being on a highway. luckily, i was able to get over a lane and pull over. the car wouldn't allow me to move or reverse. i was in a rental for about a week while they examined my car. chevrolet/gm said they were unable to find anything wrong with my car and forced me to return the rental and drive my car. i have written documentation stated they were unable to find anything wrong with my vehicle. now the third incident, i was driving in philadelphia on a way to a wedding. my car stalled multiple times, causing me to pull over on broad street about 4 times, just to turn my car off and on to attempt to move it. it was a hazard to myself and on the road, i almost got hit multiple times. chevrolet said they found the problem with my car, but how am i suppose to trust them when they never trusted me when i said something was wrong. this car is brand-new and this is the third occurrence of the same issue. i feel completely unsafe driving this vehicle and my confidence has plummeted. please advise me of what to do.

our 2010 chevrolet equinox has dangerous sticky steering at speeds of around 70 mph. more effort than normal is required to turn the steering wheel at these speeds, but then it "breaks loose" and causes the vehicle to swerve slightly. this has occurred since i bought the car new in january 2010. the local chevrolet service department test drove it and said this was normal. i strongly disagree!

my 2010 chevy equinox is equipped with an electric power steering system. after the vehicle has been driven for at least 45 minutes, the steering wheel sticks or binds when trying to make minor lane correction changes. this is most noticeable on smooth road surfaces at highway speeds. an extra amount of force must be applied to the steering wheel to get it to move away from it's stuck position but once it does move, the extra amount of force used causes the steering wheel to travel past it's intended position, causing the vehicle to over correct and travel too far to the left or right. at highway speeds, this can be very dangerous and could result in loss of control of the vehicle, especially during wet and slippery road conditions. this problem should be taken very seriously. this vehicle has less than 9,000 miles on it and this condition did not exist until around the 8,000 mark.

i had already processed a vehicle complaint a few months ago. this is the fifth time my vehicle has been in the shop with chevrolet. two of the five times (so far) they were only able to make two repairs, and were certain they have solved the problem. the most recent occurrence was april 29th. i had just picked my car up from thomas chevrolet after being serviced for the same incident the past 4 times, with their assurance my vehicle was safe to drive. my boyfriend and i were driving on i-95 south towards baltimore, when my car gave out. the rpms went up and down, tach was accelerating up to 8-9 and my speedometer read 0mph. at the time we were going 65mph, and then next thing we know the car automatically decelerated 35mph. my boyfriend had no control over the acceleration of the vehicle. we were in a 5-lane highway and had to safely get over 4 lanes. we were almost killed/severely injured multiple times by cars/trucks, while trying to get over the lanes. this is the fifth time this has occurred and third time i had almost lost my life. i am in severe need of assistance. chevrolet has told me multiple times "nothing is wrong with my car, and assured my safety". this car is defected and i am unsure as to how to prove chevrolet it is unsafe. the thought of continuing to drive this vehicle is horrifying. what is it going to take to show them? my life? please advise me.

have been having the sticky steering problem others are complaining about. it's noticeable at highway speeds on a smooth road surface and seems to happen in hotter, humid weather. i brought it to the dealer two times before to be checked and they told me just what i thought they would tell me. there are no trouble codes stored in the computer, they could not duplicate the problem and of course gm is not aware of any other problems like this one. i find that hard to believe since so many others are complaining about the exact same problem i'm having. the problem seems to be with the electric power steering on the equinox, it really does seem like a hazard because of it locking up which is very noticeable and depending on the circumstance could be hard to handle if needing to steer quickly in a situation.

mildew smell in car from air vents, and also stronger smell from window wells when windows are rolled down. first, dealership replaced cabin air filter. didn't correct problem. two weeks later, took it back and they determined drain holes in all four doors were "clogged" and mildew was building up inside doors. dealership claims they took apart all doors, cleaned and sprayed inside with disinfectant and cleaned out weep holes in doors.- all within two hours. they told us to "keep an eye on the weep holes you'll probably have to keep having this done." this is unacceptable on a brand-new car. it causes a terrible smell, and an unsafe respiratory environment for passengers.

jerking in steering while driving at highway speed. roberts chevrolet of platte city, mo repaired the steering. when taken in they stated they had not heard of the problem. i had questioned the situation one other time at an oil change. the steering jerking was getting more intense over time, scheduled for it to be checked on june 30, 2011. on my repair order #192798 it is stated replaced steering gear. when i picked up the car i was informed they could not find anything, but they followed up with gm and got a bulletin #pit4992a. they performed the service listed in the bulletin. as of today that seems to have fixed the problem. the reason for listing the covered service is the problem seemed to be getting worse with only 18,000 miles. there has not been a recall so far as i know. we the jerking getting worse with time i was not sure if it could cause a complete steering loss while driving.

purchased 2010 equinox ls on 8/14/09. the vehicle has incurred numerous visits to the dealership to correct a major water leakage problem,defective module which controlled dashboard functions including heat and defrost and a severe oil consumption condition which remains unresolved. complaints of engine knocking were reported to 2 dealerships with no resolve. approximately 6 weeks ago the vehicle experienced the same knocking and check engine light. the dealer replaced the timing chain,thermostat along with various seals and valves. this past monday the vehicle experienced the same tapping noise and shuttering,after was determined the vehicle had no oil the vehicle was towed to the dealer were they discovered the car had consumed over six quarts of oil with no visible signs of oil leakage anywhere. the were advised by gm to do an oil consumption test over 5000 miles with a bi-weekly inspection by the dealer. a research of internet forums revealed this situation to be a common complaint with various concessions made to other owners. this is a dangerous defect that can leave a driver stranded in the heat of summer or dead of winter with life threatening possibilites. this matter deserves you immediate attention.

wipers stopped working suddenly while traveling on freeway in heavy rain. managed to move to right hand lane and exit freeway at the next exit but visibility was nearly zero. i took my car in for service and the dealer replaced the wiper transmission. on review of the failed part i could see that one of the plastic inserts on the ball joints had failed/deformed allowing the linkage to separate. dealer suggested that this may have been a result of winter usage where the blades were frozen causing high loads on the joints. repaired parts were kept by dealer and were to be returned to gm for warranty review.

have owned my car now for 6 months and nothing but issues. it sees the dealer more then i can enjoy it. if one more update is done and i am told the problem is fix and really it isn't then my frustration will continue. from the oil leak, transmission decline rough, engine noise,key gets stuck in ignition, fuel gage and starting issues i wish i could get rid of this car and never buy chevy again. if i had not sold my other car i would put this up for sale and walk away. there has to be something to fix these issues as this was not a cheap car. it only has 52 thous miles and i will go back to mazda where my suv went to 285 thous with normal maintenance not major issues or my tahoe that i sold at 189 thous and no problems. i wish i had purchased another mazda at this point. how do we get this problems resolved once and for all? this is crazy!i am not sure if a lawyer is the answer but i would hope that its not. i am sick of getting renals, being late to work to drop it off and shuttle. i bought this to have a car to drive not to take to the dealer over and over. the engine seal was already replaced and the problems are worse or not better at all. seems to be known problems with 2010 so why is it that they are not getting fixed on our cars. i am happy to get my 27 thousand back and get a car that is not a clunker junk. during idle from stop light to stop light in city traffic, vehicle began to idle very rough during stops and had reduced power while moving. eventually it died out at a stop light. general motors reference pip5025 for excessive oil consumption and cylinder damage per dealer repair report. car has been "repaired" but is still running somewhat rough and is giving off a strong gasoline odor and engine oil smells like gasoline - have another appointment with dealer to have checked out - has not stalled out again since repair though.

i was driving down the road and the car was jerking back and forth like i was hitting the gas and brake over and over. i stopped at a stoplight and the engine made another jerk and then died. there were no engine lights or faults. i started the vehicle again and immediately died again. i started it again and was able to drive for about another mile before i was stopped at a stoplight and died again. it did this two more times before i reached home. i had the vehicle towed to a gm service center. they acknowledged this wasn't the first issue with this model of vehicle which is an actuator problem. they recommended i change the oil more frequently which i did but less than a year later the vehicle again experienced the same issue. another service center acknowledged it was a common issue but that they can only replace the actuator if it has failed.

when starting the vehicle at any time the engine idles very rough and rpms fluctuate significantly enough that it shakes the vehicle. engine noise is very loud, even for a small direct-injected engine. when driving the throttle is slow or jerky to respond and the engine noise increases. at different rpms a rattling sound comes from the engine compartment, as though something is loose and will fall off. i have had this vehicle at our chevy dealer several times for this issue and most recently for the vehicle not shutting-down when powered off. the high-pressure fuel pump was replaced based on gm bulletin but nothing was done about the loud and obscene engine noise. dealer stated this was normal operation although bulletins exist in gm system for timing and valve-train issues and repairs. i am concerned that the engine will simply quite one day under normal operation. planned obsolescence at 100,001 miles? i will be taking the vehicle to another dealer very soon to try an remedy the situation and understand my concern and work with me to correct issues.

car was having rough idling and intermittent stalling at stops starting about a week ago. stalled at light yesterday and couldn't keep it started; happened to be across the street from dealership. shop indicated it was due to late oil change (low and dirty oil). only potential issue identified was the cam shaft actuators sticking but indicated there were no bulletins or recalls and it was just from the late oil change. upon further research, i have found a lot of information indicating there have been a lot of stalling and actuator issues with this vehicle and there really would be no reason at all my oil would be low of course (last oil change had been 7000 miles ago - i commute to work daily so the miles add up quickly). i'm definitely anticipating further issues but so far since yesterday, just the oil change has improved the rough idling and no stalling yet. with the number of complaints i've seen on line (and even my co-worker guessed i had an equinox when i described the issue because he has had 2 actuator replacements and timing chain replaced), i'm finding it very hard to believe the dealer didn't know these issues are out there.

vehicle burns large quantities of oil, often in short periods of time. (we will check oil, it's fine, and then a few days later we've burned two quarts.) this requires us to pull over rapidly and find new oil to prevent engine failure, making it a major safety hazard. we've burned 1 to 2 quarts of oil every 1,000 to 1,500 miles pretty consistently since march, when we first discovered we were down 3 quarts.

it started with the check engine light would come on and the stabilitrak light coming on sometimes. and you hear a rough idle.and a horrible rattling noise was coming from the engine while parked and. when i drove the car when accelerating it sounded worse as if i was driving a diesel truck. and the car would stay on for about 2 to 3 seconds after i turned the car off. so i dropped the car off at the dealer they checked it with a scanner and they got the p0172 - too rich error code. and they saw for themselves the car stayed on after turning off the car and the rattling noise it was making. after 2 days i picked up the car coalitionÂ??t hear the rattling noise as much.you could still hear the rattling but very slightly the check engine light was off. after a week driving my car you can hear the rattling noise very, very little. they fixed the rattling noise somewhat it was covered ( by power train warranty) however both the check engine light and the stabilitrak light came back on. and the car still would stay on for about 2 to 3 seconds after i turned the car off. and sometimes when i start my car it would rev up has if i step on the gas pedal and then it will drop to normal. all issues were not resolved still having problems with check engine light stabilitrak light on and the car staying on. for a few seconds. after turn off the car. took it back to the dealership now they are saying they found that it is a problem with the high pressure fuel pump and the body throttle. not functioning correctly. this may cause gas to leak into the oil. i did some research this is a common problem with the 4 cyl equinox. the dealership said the repair would not be under the 100,000 mile powertrain warranty.

the equinox was being towed (all wheels down) behind a motorhome. chevrolet certifies it as towable in this manner. the towing baseplate, produced by demco specifically for this vehicle) was attached to the car's front rail ends of the frame. while underway, the front rail ends tore loose from the frame. the baseplate, thus detached, tore the front grill and bumper from the vehicle. the car glided to a stop on the road. had we been on a busy highway or on a hill, other vehicles may have been involved and serious injury or death may have occurred. we feel that the front rail ends are not sufficiently sturdy to support towing and chevrolet should not certify the equinox as towable.

approx 6 weeks after purchasing my car - new the air bag service warning light came on, brought the car in for service - replaced the air bag harness. about 6- 8 months later air bag service lights came on again, plus the traction control alarm. called in for service replaced the air bag harness again- called about service, than the problem went away. about 6- 8 months later this happened again on a long trip (600 miles), came home nothing. in oct 2012 the problem occurred again replaced the air bag harness again, all out of my pocket - not covered under extended warranty. lasted about 6 weeks, all alarms warning going off, air bag, traction, and now the tire pressure was off, and oil light warning. took car back to original dealer, stated entire air bag needs to be replaced, can't find a reason for the traction? i don't feel safe in this car. it has been 4 weeks since my car was at the dealer, no alarms until yesterday, now the air bag alarm is going off every 2.5 minutes, very annoying if you are in the car traveling for more than 15 minutes. i asked the dealer to make me an offer on this lemon of a car. there is something wrong with the electronics on this car.

my check engine light came on. i brought my car to an autoparts store to get the code. upon running the code it was discovered the oil was low in the car. the mechanic put it in 3 quarts of oil. i had my oil changed in october and had just put 3000 miles on the car. the next day the check engine light came on again and the car was 1 quart of oil low. i called the chevy dealer and gave them the code p00014. they said it was my camshaft and to bring it in for warranty work. upon drop off they said they could smell oil burning and heard a knocking in the engine. they said the oil in my car was very black/dirty and low when they received it. they told me to make sure i change my oil regularly and not follow the "oil life" light in the car. they did an oil change and said the car was running fine. i was informed to keep an eye on the oil so they could do a consumption test. a week later the same check engine code came on in my car. i brought it back to the dealership. they replaced chains and actuators in the engine. i got my car back, watched the oil and drove 1000 miles. at that point my car was 1.3 quarts of oil low. the dealership documented it and sent me on. i drove 700 miles and was 3/4 a quart of oil low. it also had that knocking noise in the engine again. the dealership took my car back and called gm. they were told took look for markings in the engine. they ended up replacing my entire engine and the fuel pump system due to the markings they found. gm said these problems were linked to issues in engines with these marks. my situation has been fixed for now but i wanted to make my problem known for others who have not had it fixed.

my wife noticed that it was becoming hard to steer. it continued for a few more days , so i called chevrolet dealer to see if they had been aware of suh a problem, they told me no they had not. there were no warning light or any codes stored. i call gm customer service and was told the same thing that they are not aware of any such problem. it has become increasing worst to drive where it may lead to accident. i have no other choice but to replace one part after part .there are to many complaints out there for gm to remain blind to such a serious problem.

tl* the contact owns a 2010 chevrolet equinox. the contact stated that engine lost power and stalled without warning. there were no warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. the dealer began observing the oil consumption for over a year prior to the failure. on april 12, 2012, the dealer replaced the cam shaft actuator. after the most recent failure the contact was told by the dealer that the pistons and the rings would need to be replaced. the dealer stated that the most recent repair was a manufacturers suggestion, but the repair will not correct the problem because there is a defect in the engine. the dealer stated that when the engines were cast, there was sand left in the engine and since the engine was not flushed, it caused the engine to lock up over time. the vehicle was not repaired. the failure mileage was 23,000 and the current mileage was 35,138.

the steering sticks. extra effort is required to make corrections off center. the effort required to correct or turn the vehicle increases or sticks. this results in under or over correction or causes problems in turning and returning the wheel to center. sometime the steering is fine and then this sticking or this could be described as the steering wheel is stuck in a rut that requires extra effort to get out of. like getting out of a rut sometimes your go too far to the right or left due to the extra effort required while at other times only normal effort is needed. this is dangerous, i see on the internet that gm has a bulletin pit 4992a but i don't know what this bulletin indicates. my local dealer didn't know of this bulletin but said they would check. i never got an answer. this steering issued with the 2.4 l engine and the electronic power steering is a dangerous condition.

2.4 l engine fuel pump plunger seal is defective. allows gasoline to leak into the engine, thinning the oil. this causes engine bearing surfaces to wear throughout(basically ruining the engine). engine performance deterioration began and symptoms included rough idle, engine knock, poor acceleration and stalling. my wife had a close incident when her car stalled and was nearly rear ended by another vehicle a good friend of mine reported that his daughter-in-laws equinox stalled out on a detroit expressway - walk home! this was extremely dangerous. my engine was replaced after 5 service visits in august 2012. today, gm has sent letters to all 2010 and 2011 customers detailing the "may have this condition - could cause engine run-on or rough running engine", which is true, but a very weak and unnaceptable explanation for what really can happen. gm is "extending" warranty mileage on both 2010 and 2011 equinox vehicles with this2.4l engine. this will not take care of engine stalling, potential rear end collisions and customer walk homes. gm's pathetic approach should not be accepted by nhtsa. this should be investigated immediately, as for the reasons gm prefers to risk driver's safety. reliability engineering at gm must not exist any longer. call me!

during regular commute, while driving through the city on the way home, the driver seat lumbar collapsed with a loud pop, like a balloon pop. i am a regular sized guy, 5'11", 160lbs. and i wasn't doing anything special. it was just a regular day driving home and the lumber just popped and now there's a cavity inside the back of the driver seat. upon searching the internet. apparently it's a common issue, some drivers had their lumbar popped in the exact same way twice within six month. apparently there was, at some point a tsb for this issue. however, gm cannot find it, and won't repair the seat for me. despite me googling and searching and came up with the following info on my own: "from gm... pi0246a 2010-2011 equinox, terrain - front seat power lumbar support inoperative replace only the screws. a revised screw has been released don't replace the lumbar assembly". this is a common problem, and a design flaw that gm refuses to admit, nor address. they just plan on letting the vehicle owners drive with a cavity on their back. *js

check engine light came on and found out that the code p 0010 was found during a scan by the dealer. contacted gm for the 100,000 power train warranty they offer on this vehicle only to find out that the cam shaft position solenoid is not covered and will cost my 108.75 for the diagnosis scan and 157.00 for the part, why is gm offering the powertrain 100,000 warranty on there engines when only certain parts are covered. is there any recalled on the engines for the chevy equinox engine made in 2010.

the defrost on my equinox does not clear the windshield but causes worse conditions when it is turned on making it extremely difficult to see. i have to keep my windows down and stick my head out of the windows to see in cold weather. i am told that my equinox does not fall under recall # 09298. this is an extreme hazard!

my 2010 chevy equinox (purchased 05/2010) has continuously had issues when idling or at low speeds in the city or in heavy highway traffic, since about a year after i purchased it. sometimes this will cause the car to stall. this has been particularly scary and problematic on the highway in rush hour traffic and on the bay bridge during rush hour traffic. what is particularly frustrating is what i am told by the dealership service team - "it's because you're low on oil." when i explain that i just had an oil change 1,500 miles ago and topped off the oil a week before, they said, "well this car burns a lot of oil, and you were down a quart. you should just check it every week and keep topping it off." no concern for the fact that i am doing this, and it is stalling. no concern for the fact that this car is 3 years old and burning that much oil. when i ask what type of engine problem would result in this type of oil consumption, they quickly change the subject and say they have found "nothing wrong" or that they are just "going by what gm says to do, since we are only the service team, not the manufacturer." at this point, i bring my car in anywhere from once every other month to multiple times per month. sometimes the oil is low; sometimes the check engine light is on. just last week (10/15), after i started a claim with gm and told the service team that i was filing a complaint, they finally agreed to run an oil consumption test. we did not get that far, though, as my car has been rough idling all week and my check engine light is back on - it's back with the service folks... just 5 days after being there last.

STEERING

while backing out of my driveway, i turned the steering wheel to the left and the steering wheel became stuck. i had to tug forcefully on the wheel for the steering wheel to come back to center. the same thing happened again 3 days later as i was making a right turn onto a busy road. i turned the steering wheel to the right and the steering wheel became stuck causing me to nearly run off the road. i had to pull with force to get the steering wheel back to center causing me to briefly swerve into the left lane. luckily i did not run off the road or into anyone.

i started hearing a knocking noise at 28000 miles. had serviced but after several miles noise started again. noise continues so service is needed(10-2-13). i had several gaskets, seal, bolts,fuel pump(which was leaking raw fuel into inside of engine), balance chain, timing chain, guide for timing chain(which guide and debris fell in oil pan), and two tensioner replaced as well as oil life monitor recall update. here i am nearly 3 months later and my 2010 equinox is in shop(12-31-13) and can't be driven do to loud noises, lose of power fuel and oil, as well as stalling and check engine light being on continually. i did extensive research and found thousands of people with same year and model equinox as mine to be having same problems as mine at same mileage. i found that the engine needs to be replaced because of damage done by leaking fuel pump. so no matter what work is done or what is replaced problems still keep happening because damage is all ready done to inside of engine and the entire engine should be replaced. please help, this is a major problem that effects thousands and nothing is being done for us owners. those who are lucky to get their engine replaced don't get an accurate warranty and after several miles the new engine starts having the same issues. please help!!

the back hatch lock will not release on my 2010 equinox to open the hatch. it started with a difficult try to open it. now it will not open at all. i am bringing it to the dealer tomorrow (it is out of warranty over 36,0000 miles) this hatch is not open every day. in reality it is open only about once a week, so it shouldn't have broken.

brake master cylinder rear seal failed and fluid completely filled the brake booster causing the brakes to apply. the brakes would not release causing the vehicle to stop in the traffic lane without any warning (brake lights) to the vehicles behind almost causing a rear end collision.

service stabilitrak light come on. service engine lights come on. engine power is reduced. the vehicle engine died right in the middle of the street. i was able to restart it and took it in for service. they couldn't find any "actual" problem. so they reset all the codes. it has happened again. it is happening when the temperatures get below freezing.

i have experienced nothing but issues with my 2010 equinox. it has been in the shop many times regarding the oil level being low and a loud noise and transmission getting stuck and slipping. also experiencing gas smell while i'm driving or when i come to a complete stop. also it's not normal for the engine to lose 3 quarts of oil out of 5qts within 3000 miles. started noticing the lost of oil may of 2013. took it to the shop and they replace the engine and other parts that go along with that repair. july of 2013 same problem occur again, lost of oil again, and then they replace front drive axle inner shaft seal. also took the car back to the shop for oil lost on dec.31, 2013 for losing 3 qts oil out of 5qts. they tell us that there is nothing wrong. they said they inspected it for oil leaks, but if they would of check the oil dip stick they would have seen the lost of 3qts of oil. also i have pictures that i took of the oil dip stick showing only 2qts of oil on dec.17 2013. also we have contacted gm and no help from them. i've investigated this problem i learned that i?m not the only one experiencing the same problem across the united states. also on the invoice that i received they did not do an oil consumption test which involves more than just checking for leaks? seem like there not following the service procedures. it's obviously an internal defect in the 2.4 liter engine that causes it to burn that much oil. also i have all my papers when i took it to the shop. also they gave us a copy of the multi-point inspection where it indicates the fuel system, engine, transmission, drive axle; transfer case requires attention soon, wow you think that's why my transmission is slipping.

this chevy vehicle is an accident waiting to happen. i have had oil consumption problems, rough idling, and loss of gas mileage. it is obvious chevy/gm know about these problems. they have issued a puzzling letter on july 13 alerting owners that there may be a problem with "the chrome layer on the balance chain pins, allowing the chain to stretch. this would cause an engine noise and if left untreated, could cause the chain to break, leading to engine damage. in addition, the fuel pump plunger shaft seal may wear and allow fuel to leak into the crankcase..." also on july 19, 2013 chevy issued #13-06-01-003b,: excessive oil consumption....." these two problems are closely related but chevy refuses to issue a recall. if you are driving your family at 65 mph on the highway and the chain breaks because it lacks lubrication, engine power will be lost and probably many lives. chevy is aware that these significant problems exist and instead of being proactive they stall the owner by requesting a 2,000 mile oil consumption test. that test is designed to put the burden of proof upon the owner and not where it truly belongs, chevy. i hope someone takes these issues seriously before someone gets hurt. one cannot dismiss loss of engine power at high speeds due to their negligence. according to chevy, in addition to the chain problem, the pistons, valves, valve stems, cylinder, oil pump, cam shaft or rod bearings might need replacement due to oil loss. in my opinion, this vehicle needs to be recalled for the issues cited above.

since the purchase of my chevy equinox i have had engine trouble related to the oil system. for a period of time i was initially given the run around in regards to a solution. the engine noise made it clear to me that my car needed some type of repair. my persistence enabled me to finally have the problem solved. i cannot be more specific about that event, but keeping that incident in mind leads to the next. i later began to have problems with oil consumption (several months down the road). during periods in between oil changes i began to put more and more oil in my car. this didn't make since my travel was local and not much. ( i have been out of work since last june 2013). that time i decided or i will say insisted the dealer look further into the problem when it was three weeks after an oil change and it was down almost five quarts of oil. i got a lecher about the damage it would have caused. to the point of the problem with all this. i read other letters of complaints on the website in regard to other engine or oil related issues on the chevy equinox. it seems more than apparent that this should be looked into prior to accident, injury or death. each problem or complaint also had a number of how many of each were recorded. i would hope that it wouldn't take for me to injure myself or be just another tragic death related to the big car industries. trouble shooters get paid big money to prevent such travesties. i would then expect that these glitches would be worked out to the benefit of the small people paying big money for vehicles that help them make it on the journey to a bigger a better way of life. i hope someone sitting in his or her corporate office does more than just brush this aside and post it with the other letter of complaint.

our service airbags light came on. we were told by our local chevrolet dealer that this could disable airbags. unfortunately there was a 2 week backorder for new switch. we could not use the vehicle for 2 weeks, rented another vehicle and then spent $750 to repair the switch. of note, this is the same part that has been recalled with the near identical sister vehicle, the chevrolet traverse. i suspect the same problem and gm may need to consider recalls for the equinox as well. they are near identical vehicles, dashes, controls, etc.

i have owned this auto, which i purchased from a chev. dealer in atmore, al dec 2011; first sign of trouble was notice to replace electronic board, and battery which was run down & alleged due to fail., replaced under bank service warranty, plus $110. from that point onthe car would start unattended, and parked, locked with alarm on. attempts to correct meant fighting to get lock to stay open with key, and inserting same into ignition. car has also stopped for no reason at all,.complaint to gn/chevy two weeks ago, complaining of broken key as buttons had dropped off and second set did not work at all. milton chevrolet at milton, fl alleged corrected problem by making second (non-working) key work. a week later car parked, locked and alarm set, started in mid afternoon, no one near auto or keys and alarm ran off. we had to get key, enter auto and turn off ignition. the dealer wants the cost of two new keys to "fix" the problem. i think that the problem is a faulty ignition system entirely. if car stopped running on interstate for no reason, brakes, alarm, air bags would be inoperative. this has been reported to gm/chevrolet about 6 times, a late as yesterday when they demand cost of keys to repair problem.at times we have gone into stores and heard the alarm go off with no one around. this is not the intent of chevrolet to meet recall. please advise as to how this can be resolved. i have no doubt that the key system and the key and ignition and engine are allinked and are faulty with problems yet tobe revealed. current mileage, 60,700 total mileage.

i work approximately 36 miles from and while traveling home from work on the expressway i notice my power steering monitor appeared on my dashboard and my air brake warning signals came on and also my traction control signal was on and my steering became very stiff and tight very hard to control. i contact gm customer relations and explain to them that i have research other vehicles that were manufactured by them with this same problem that is now on their recall list. they were no help at all.they were looking for ways to put the responsibility in my hands to resolve the problem then to satisfy me as a customer.

power steering failure. steering locked up. vehicle could be steered only with extreme manual effort. it occurred regardless of the speed of the vehicle, from 0 to 35 during this incident. when wheel was turned it would not return to previous position. for example when turning a corner, the vehicle would not straighten out when the turn was completed unless the wheel was manually pulled back, again with extreme effort. local dealership service department was contacted but had no knowledge of any such problem. days later the power steering returned to normal by itself! then the failure happened again without warning. this is a very dangerous situation!

while turning, power steering no longer present. power steering did not return after checking fuses and replacing battery. dealer indicated needed to replace steering gear and charged $1500. power steering assist returned for a few days. power steering became intermittent. when i returned to dealer, they say it was the shaft joints not functioning properly and replaced those at no charge.

11/13/13 first report of transmission surging/bucking when coming to stop then engine dies, happened twice. dealer could not duplicate. 12/21/13 transmission failure: no reverse, won't shift past 2nd, trans fluid ok but dark w/ metal shavings. found 3,5,r wave plate fibers & steels damaged along w/ clutch housing assembly, low reverse spring retainer & housing. 1,2,3,4,piston, low reverse 1,2,3,4 clutch, low reverse piston. clean case, rebuilt valve body, replaced seals, installed overhaul kit. 2/24/14: reported transmission problem recurred, dealer drove for 2 weeks could not duplicate. 3/24/14: reported transmission problem recurred 7 times on 3/23. dealer able to duplicate problem. replace sungear, output carrier gear set, wave plates, overhauled transmission, relearn shift adapt.

wife stopped for gas pulled out on to street very hard to steer. this has happened on and off for the past couple years almost went away for a while. the past couple of weeks it has been constant whether i am going 2 mph or 70 kph a constant stiffness in turning right or left it's as if it was a fluid type power steering not electrical.now this is a early 2010 we bought this car in july 2009.there are no signs or any kind of noises to indicate any kind of problem but i am getting kind of nervous in driving this suv anymore.there must be other chevy cars that have same problem i do hope there will be a recall on this problem soon. thanks

my wife and i purchase this vehicle in around mid-january of 2014. two weeks after leaving the dealership with the vehicle the service airbag light come on. we took it into the dealership to have it fixed. after a day or so we received the vehicle back and the alert was gone. two weeks after taking it in to get fixed, the alert pops up again. to make a long story short on 12 may 2014 the service airbag light has popped up for the fourth time in four months. is there some sort of recall on this vehicle or this part? i have not been able to find anything and all we can do is take the vehicle in to get fixed. luckily the last time that we took it in the service department and the alert came up while it was in their possession. regardless, the safety of my family is in danger due to the safety bags not being engaged when the alert pops up.

over the course of the past two years, the transmission steadily shifted harder and harder, sometime the gears wouldn't shift up, or down without a 3~5 second delay at speeds of 30mph or 50mph. around mar 18 2014, we were going up a hill going roughly 50mph all of a sudden, there was an external electrical noise, and seconds after, the car wouldn't shift into gear. after getting off the freeway, the car would not shift out of 1st gear, and was in limp mode. we took the car to the dealer the day after and was told the 3-5-reverse wave plate or also commonly referred to as clutch plate shattered and the pieces got into the gears and torn up all the gears with it. the car was still just right under the power train warranty so the dealer replaced the wave plate and the broken gears. but make no mistake, this is a common problem. gm claimed they "supposedly" improved this old problem post 2009 models, however, countless 2010+ chevy equinoxes, traverse, and gmc terrain, and acadia are still encountering failing transmission because of this very specific 3-5-reverse wave plate issue. just google for "chevy equinox transmission wave plate", or "gm 3 5 reverse wave plate" you'll see countless gmc, chevy 2010+ owners still encountering pre-mature transmission failures due to this very exact issue. if you take all the average transmission failures from all the 2010+ vehicles, you'll see that the transmission would fail on average anywhere between 60,000~150,000. this is not acceptable, and it should be listed as an official recall!!

steering started acting odd. binding up when turning. took it into the dealers. first they told me they reset the steering. two days later brought it back still binding. determined it was the steering assist motor. the car dealer had the car for almost a week. told me they had to also replace the steering gear, motor assembly, and steering wheel angle sensor. told me car was repaired. drove it home approx. 20 miles. car steering is still binding up. took the car back to the dealers two days later. the mechanic drove the car and said there was nothing wrong with it. now i am at a loss. i don't know what the answer is. this seems like a dangerous situation.

the chevrolet equinox instrument panel top pad has a integrated compartment in the center. the compartment has a bright chrome latch for opening the compartment. the latch has a very reflective surface. when driving south east the sun reflected off the latch blinding the driver even with sunglasses. view of the road was lost and the seat had to be repositioned to move the drivers eyes from the reflection. photograph is available.

good afternoon. i purchased a 2010 chevy equinox on january 7th, 2014. the defroster and the vents are not working. the defroster delays or does not come on at all. i researched recalls on the chevy equinox and found that my problems are the same problems that fall under the 09298 recall which states: "brief description of defect mfg. campaign no. 090298 ? computer module/fmvss 101 & 103. dom: 2/09-11/09. vehicles fail to meet fmvss 101 and fmvss 103. software in center instrument panel can cause heating, air conditioning, defrost, and radio controls, as well as panel illumination to become inoperative. driving without functioning defrost system can decrease visibility and could result in crash without warning. correct by replacing computer module in center instrument panel" my vin was not included in that recall, but it is the exact problem i am having. the computer module is bad. would you happen to know if there is a way to get this car fixed under the warranty? i believe my vin should be included, but no one at chevrolet will help me without charging me a huge amount of money. i wouldn't mind if the vents weren't working, but the defroster needs to work and it isn't a wear and tear issue. i just thought i would reach out to you to see if you might have a better solution then the run around i am getting from gm. if you could be contact me, i would really appreciate it! i hope you have a good day! thank you, abby amey abby@ameys.net 773-822-3223

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

at 13,000 miles the fuel tank, fuel pump, fuel level sensor replaced. at 56,000 miles the water pump and balance shaft chains were replaced after the car broke down on the side of a major highway. at 64,000 miles the camshaft position acutator and solenoid valves were replaced after another highway breakdown. at 69,000 miles the engine was replaced for a breakdown once again. at 81,000 miles the fuel pump and balance shaft chains were replaced once again after a breakdown. at 90,000 miles the car stopped in the middle of a major highway. the wave plate was replaced and metal debris was found in the transmission.

VISIBILITY/WIPER

passenger side, top blend door actuator stuck at cooling position preventing the defrost to work. i could not see and almost had a wreck. estimated repair cost is $600 as you have to take the whole dash apart to get to the actuator. i think this part should be recalled as there are thousands of defective gmc equinox and terrain actuator issues on the web. if you can see out the window as the defrost is stuck on cool you could have a wreck. this is a safety issue.

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

while turning left on a major intersection the check engine light and stabilitac light with a warning of reduced engine power came on. the car could only go 5 mph which was caused me to slowly go through the intersection. two on coming cars had to slam on their breaks to avoid me. the dealer found a defective throttle body. they said the car is program to go into reduced engine power mode when the computer detects this issue. the safety issue is this come on with out warning, in the middle of intersections. search the web and you will find that many with this type of car from gm are having this issue. i think there should be a recall for the defective throttle body for those not replaced yet and a reimbursement for those already paid. i had to pay $400.64 for this safety repair so i could a avoid future accidents when turning at intersections. the repair details are on file at the dealer.

VISIBILITY/WIPER

while driving on interstate 290 (ny), a heavy rainfall started. driver put wipers to high speed and wipers stopped functioning. wipers were at the end of the wipe sweep. driver was able, due to the prior use of "rain-x" to see to exit the road. wipers did not regain functionality, after vehicle was stopped and wipers were attempted to be used again. driver is concerned about the safety of this vehicle.

while driving in a storm, the windshield wipers stopped working. i had to pull over and wait out the storm, too dangerous to drive. i took the car to a chevy dealership and they said that they needed to replace the motor for the windshield wipers. it was not under warranty and cost me $400.

STRUCTURE:BODY

gm, used a felt like material on the 2010 equinox between the front fender and the fire wall for sound deadening . i have checked out their new models and they are using it on all of them now [trucks,cars,suvs]. the problem is that this material stays wet, collects salt, mud, etc. as we drive on roads where salt is used in the us and canada i have removed on the passenger side so far. the fire wall and fender both have serious rust which will lead to a perforation of the passenger cabin. there must be a better material to use for this purpose that will not stay wet. i have contacted gm but they did not seem too concerned about the issue. hope you folks have better luck then myself. please note we live in canada and arizona about 50/50

ENGINE

purchased a 2010 equinox,new with 23 miles, noticed right away that i had to put oil in several time when i filled up with gas. took in for 3,00 mile check was told there was no problem. this has been continuous, i always carried oil with me and go oil changes every 1,500 to 2,000 mile. car finally broke down this weekend and was towed to dealer from which i purchased. some thing needs to be done about this, it no laughing matter to spend 25,000 to 30,000 on a car and it falls apart at 71,000 and am not even through paying for it.

ENGINE

when the vehicle starts in the morning for the first 15-20 seconds you could hear a load rattling noise then the noise goes away. i had change the oil from synthetic to regular 5w30 because when i drained the crank case the only thing i had left was 1.5 qt, im trying with the regular oil to see what it does .i hear that many equinox owners have had the same problem with oil consumssion.i would like to reported ,maybe its a problem among these vehicles owners.

coming off of exit 50 on sunrise hwy in long island n.y. a cross street light turned red and the traffic was stopping so i applied the brakes on my car, the brake peddle went to the floor while trying to stop. i had the car towed to the dealership for repair. the car has 51823 miles on it.

POWER TRAIN

this car started giving me trouble the very week i git it. it was stalling and has this loud raspy sound. the dealership basin subaru said it is supose to make that noise. i had to have it towed to chevrolet. the kept it for a month. put a rebuilt transmission in ghe car. still has the raspy sound, just had the fuel pump replaced after the check engine light came on. one day later the check engine light back on. they replaced some sylinoid sensor. the ac blws out a weird mist. air condition not working prpoerly. that aweful rattle noise is still there. just holding my breath for tne next thing to break down. bought this care 2 years ago and i cant get rid of it.

defrost not working and instrument panel fades or completely goes out... i went to my local heritage chevrolet dealer in chester va. 23831.. i was told there was not a recall on my vehicle... but they would hook it up and do a test to determine the problem... at the cost of $170.00.. i told them my vehicle was on the recall for the visibility #09v489000 software instrument panel/ fmvss 103 & 101.. i told them forget it i should not have to pay for a recall and left....
