SEAT BELTS

i just noticed that almost all of the 2011 chevrolet vehicles and some dodge( those are the ones that i have seen so far) has the same type of seat belts and for me they look kind of weak/ unsafe compare to the ones that i have seen in the past. i'm a child passenger technician and when i was installing some car seats in some chevy's vehicles i noticed that two of the seat belts almost got perforated by the car seat plastic shell, i noticed that they're not as heavy duty as the ones that i have in my 2000 chevy van. i'm kind of concerned about this. probably is not that bad but i think it will be good to check this out as well as the buckle, because in one 2011 cruise wasn't working. thank you for your great job!

SEATS

2011 chevy cruze seat adjust control on driver's side will cause severe pinching/crushing of fingers on left hand if you lower the seat to its lowest position using the electronic control on the lower left side of the seat without keeping all fingers above the control. it is a fairly natural grip to rest the thumb on the top of the control and lightly grasp the bottom of the plastic seat skirt to push the control switch down. this grip will cause the fingers to be pinned between the seat skirt and the seat base.

i am reporting a potentially dangerous situation in the 2011 chevy cruise. the front driver's side floor mat does not stay fastened to the pins on the floor and bunches up beneath the gas pedal preventing acceleration. this is a very dangerous situation and could result in a potentially deadly accident. i have removed the floor mat. gm needs to correct this situation.

STEERING

while driving my new 2011 chevy cruze on highway 10 in minnesota, with out any warning or any other indications the steering wheel fell off in the hands of the driver. we crossed several lanes of traffic and finally got the car stopped just inches from hitting the guardrail.

i have a 2011 chevy cruze. i just purchased in nov 2010. one month after i had the car i had to take it into the dealer due to steering noise when wheel was turned left/right. they had to lubricate some parts by the wheels. starting in feb 2011 i notice the car started to lurch forward when you took you foot of the brake. it bogs when you take off, you will go then the car bogs and then it goes again. when its going into gears (i have an automatic 6 speed) its rough and the car jerks whenever you accelerate or when your slowing down. when you try to pass anyone the car bogs and then goes(not good at all). you can apply more pressure on the petal to reach your needed speed the car will bog then go. it has been in the shop twice this march. the first time they said they reprogrammed the tcm but i still had the same problem. the second time they kept it for two days and the service manager drove it then he drove another cruze on the lot and i was told this is the way the car drives and i will get used to it. this is a very dangerous thing to get used too. it is an unsafe car and im stuck with it for 5 more yrs. totally uncalled for. i have read other customer complaints about this on the consumer guide automotive and it states that gm is aware of this problem but they only state to reprogram the tcm which does nothing! the service mechanics cant do anything because they state there's nothing to do. these cruzes are an accident waiting to happen and the problem needs to be fixed. i am terrified of driving this new car due to these problems. but im told there's nothing they can do because there is no problem that's how it drives. gm needs to correct this problem before someone gets hurt or killed in this car. i do alot of city driving and this is not good for this to happen. it should be smooth take off and stopping and it isn't. i have never had a car that drives like this. i cant take it back in because im told there's nothing that can be done .. please look into.....

POWER TRAIN:MANUAL TRANSMISSION

i bought a brand new 2011 chevy cruze ls. after about two weeks of driving the vehicle i notice that when driving it in manual and coming to a stop the car would violently shift into first gear. i took the car back to the dealership and they contacted gm. they also test drove every chevy cruze ls model and non-turbo engine cruze they had in stock and found the same problem. they contacted gm again and gm informed them that they were aware of the problem with the ls an non-turbo engine models and that they do not have a solution of fix to the problem. i then contacted gm and asked them about their 30 day guarantee on their vehicles. they then informed me that they do have that policy but unfortunately would not honor it because of my case. when i asked them what they planned to do about the problem they informed me that they will continue to sell the vehicle and recall them later when they are able to find a solution of fix to the problem. the car now has 1000 miles on it and i am afraid to drive the car with my family in it for fear that something will happen while i am driving. i think it is ridiculous that gm is aware of the problem and will not recall that affected models. i also find it very disheartening that gm does not honor their customers like they are always advertising they do.

we purchased and took possession of a new 2011, chevy cruze on wed., march 30th. first new car in 11 years and we were thrilled. thrus., march 31th, my husband almost rammed thru the store front of a shop.....stopping inches before the main entrance......fri., april 1st, we went thru a stop sign into the middle of an intersection and on april 2nd i had a car full of women coming home from a luncheon. luckily, i pulled off the road to adjust the temperature because it was too warm. i was only doing about 20 mph and stepped on they brake to find i was also stepping on the gas pedal, just my husband had done the other 2 times. i was lucky i was able to shove it park. trust me, we r taking the car back to the dealer monday, april 4th and do not know what the response will be. in the mean time, we r afraid to drive the car. have there been any other complaints on this type of vehicle. i would feel awful if anyone gets hurt or injured because i have not brought to everyone's attention??????

while test driving the new 2011 chevy cruze i noticed that the windshield is very small and the rearview mirror blocks the drivers view im and avg 5'6 and i could not see very well at all . when i told the dealer about it i was encouraged to move on top another vehicle if i didn't like it. i feel this its a safety hazard .

the driver's side floor mats on our 2011 chevy cruze are supposed to attach to two rubber pins on the floor carpet. however, the attaching mechanism does not work and the floor mats are easily pushed forward and begin bunching up underneath the gas and break pedals. this is a dangerous situation. i am looking at temporarily replacing the mats with a heavier rubbermaid mat. chevy needs to fix this problem immediately.

i would like to file a complaint on a 2011 chevy cruze for the reason that the transmission has an issue that may lead to an accident the transmission comes out of gear while driving and sits in neutral then pops back into drive this is very unsafe i have contacted gm on the issue as well as my local dealership and have had no positive fix to the issue i feel that this may cause an accident and needs to be looked into.

i bought a 2011 cruze and part of the selling point was that it was bluetooth equipped. more and more states are passing handsfree laws and the bluetooth was important to me. it worked maybe 2 months. the phone will not stay connected. it connects for a minute then disconnects for a minute and continues this cycle. i complained to chevrolet and the lady sent me to the dealer to check for updates. i did but the dealer stated that it was the phone. come to find out, gm has a list of phones that are supposed to work with the cruze. all of them don't even work. i've been bounced all over to different repair shops to no avail. if you will look back, gm has already had other recalls in the past and it seems that the onstar module did not like just any bluetooth phone. it seems that if the onstar module is replaced, the bluetooth problem straightens out. i can't get that across to the dealer because the onstar phone is working and they won't replace it. with a little internet work, you can find all kinds of forums complaining about the cruze's bluetooth.

i have a 2011 chevy cruze it has a shifting problem. i was driving it home one day and the transmission would not shift and the car basically stopped suddenly. this almost caused an accident because the car behind me almost rear ended me because of the sudden stop. i took the car to the dealer and the replaced the transmission components and it still has the same problem. they are not sure what is causing this problem. the car also would not accelerate when tring to pass someone. these are some serious issues with the car and no one seems to know how to fix them. *tt

i am very disappointed with my new 2011 chevy cruze eco (1.4l 6 speed manual transmission) the car looses power especially when try to accelerate up hills, total loss of power and lack of response. this keeps happening out on the freeway. i have my foot pressed all the way down on accelerator, but no response from the car. car has slowed down to 30 mph going up the hills on freeway putting me in an unsafe position. it happens on level services too, try to get the car going when at a stop light is hard too, i give the car gas and get very slow response, when it does respond the car is very jerky going thru the gears, afraid this may cause an accident for failure to move out and with the traffic. it happens with all the gears ! i have problems too with the car over- accelerating going now hills. all the above continue to happen despite following the owners manual for operating the vehicle. i feel strongly that this is a unsafe vehicle. i bought the car with a 4 cyl turbo with hopes i would have a little extra power, i haven't seen it yet.

i have an lt cruze model 2011. the brake pedal feels soft (as if the brake fluid has some air in it) causing the car not to respond normally to brakes and it very evident is the slower speeds. the problem started after about 2000 km from use. i have a friend (who owns another cruze) and was driving my car and commented that the brakes feels "weared"! i complained during both the 5000 and 10000 km service but nothing was found wrong as they claimed. now i have to concentrate very much during traffic speeds to not make an accident!!! this is a constant attitude of my car and i do not know what to do? p.s: there was another problem of a very strange and loud noise during braking while moving backward, but this was repaired by changing the calipers of rear brakes.

my new 2011 chevy cruze has a major hesitation when trying to accelerate the car. this problem occurs consistently all the time from day 1. brought the car in for service for this problem to the chevy dealer where i purchased the car from and they said there is nothing they can do to correct this hesitation problem. they said they have had a lot of complaints about this hesitation problem. this is dangerous when you need the speed to pass on the highway and you don't have it when the accelerator is pushed. i was told at the chevy dealer that this car has six gears with a 4 cylinder engine it needs a 6 cylinder engine to change these six gears properly. why would gm chevrolet design a car like this with this problem???????

the six speed automatic transmission bogs down while changing gears. it also shifts very roughly. the gas mileage is well below standard; i believe due to the transmission problems. i have had it to the dealer two times in the first 7000 miles, but they claim there is nothing wrong. help!

when accelerating from a stopped position the vehicle has a two (2) second delay before it engages the transmission. this is very dangerous issue when entering a busy road from a parking lot or other stopped location. a two second delay can place a driver in a life or death situation. the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who was unable to diagnose the problem. they did mention that it could be "turbo lag" since it needs time to build up. they also stated that all software programs were up to date. it is still dangerous turbo lag or not. according to a road test conducted by consumer guide automotive this problem was a issue for them: "several test cars exhibited issues with the automatic transmission, including delayed response and slurred shifts. gm was aware of these problems and issued a fix that involved re-programming the transmission's software." it's obvious that this is not a software fix issue since all programs were updated on the vehicle and the problem still exists.

i was driving at 30 mph and looking to change lanes. i backed off the throttle to let one car pass. just when there was an opening in traffic and i was ready to accelerate, the computer took full control of the vehicle. the vehicle downshifted to first gear and rapidly slowed to 10 mph. at this point there was no longer an opening in traffic and i had to come to a complete stop in the middle of the road and wait for another opening in traffic. i have an excellent driving record and i did not accomplish this by doing stupid things like coming to a dead stop in the middle of the road for no reason. i continued on. a quarter of a mile down the road i backed off the throttle to slow for a curve. again the computer took full control of the vehicle. when i went to accelerate, the vehicle bogged terribly. for the next 5 seconds i had absolutely no throttle response. again i am slowing for no reason and creating a hazard. i continued on. two miles down the road i stopped for a traffic light. i was looking to make a half left. when the light turned green, i eased forward at two miles an hour waiting for an opening in traffic. when there was an opening in traffic, i began my turn and stepped on the gas. the vehicle continued at the same speed and then began to accelerate very slowly. i nearly got hit by an oncoming car. the other driver did not expect me to continue my turn at 2 mph. i continued on. another two miles down the road, the vehicle failed again. i was easing forward at 2 mph, waiting for an opening in traffic to make a right turn. when it was clear i began my turn and gave the car throttle. again the car failed to accelerate. i was then force to come to a complete stop and wait for a very large opening in traffic. again the drivers behind me are wondering why i am stopping for no reason. all four failures happened within 5 miles. i need more room to describe th

when you back off the throttle and slow to 20 to 25 mph, you never know what the car will do. it may coast like a normal car. it may downshift and slow moderately. or it may downshift to first gear and slow radically. when this happens, the computer takes full control of the vehicle. you step on the gas and nothing happens. the computer has control of the vehicle for the next 5 seconds. this has happened at least 40 different times. this creates a very dangerous situation. first, i am in the driver seat and i should have control of the vehicle. i do not. secondly, most people drive with the flow of traffic. if i slow radically for absolutely no reason and all of the drivers around me continue on, someone behind me will run into me. it is only a matter of time before a distracted driver smashes into me. and thirdly, since i never touched the brake, the brake light never came on. the driver behind me have no way of knowing that i am radically slowing and creating such a dangerous situation. if you step on the gas to get the car to go, nothing happens. then the computer returns control to the driver and the car takes off at full speed. if you step on the brake, the computer takes over. you then must come to a full complete stop before the computer will return control to the driver. if you are making a turn when the car radically slows, you could very easily loose control. when the pavement is wet or slippery, the problem is greatly increased. you are totally at the mercy of an insane computer. feel free to contact me if you need any further information. please go to the local chevy dealer and test drive a cruze with the automatic six speed transmission. you will see what i mean.

the initial problem was the airbag indicator light did not come on when my wife sat down in the passenger seat. it was an intermittent problem with the light not coming on to show the airbags were active. we took it back to the dealer and they could not duplicate it. i waited about a week and it happened again. i took it to the dealer with the airbag light off with my wife in the seat. they replaced the sensor in the seat. for about a week all was ok. then we were coming home from a shopping trip and my wife sat down and the light indicating the airbags were active did not come on. i drove directly to the dealer, about thirty minutes, and with my wife in the seat showed him. the service manager called gm and was on the phone for about 45 minutes. they connected the vehicle to the gm computer with my wife in the seat and ran a number of tests. the gm people indicated to the service manager that they were aware of the problem and told him not to touch anything that the vehicle meets all government specifications. they said they would call back in 24-48 hours. they did and claimed there was nothing wrong with the airbags and said all of the 2011 chevrolet cruzes were the same as mine. they said there was nothing more to be done. the problem has not reoccurred yet, but we are skeptical about the outcome and notified you folks. i just hope if we have a headon and the light indicates the airbag is off we will have a problem and gm will have a problem. *tt

left front tire slowly losing air. while 2011 chevy cruze was at matick chevrolet for steering shaft recall (@ approx. 9000 miles) i requested that the service department inspect the left front tire for an air leak. i suggested it could be the internal air pressure sensor was slowly leaking. i work in the auto supply chain and i have heard of the pressure sensors leaking air. dealership informed me that checked for air leaks in a water tank and could not find anything. the tire continues to lose approximately 5 psi over a 3 or 4 week period. dealership did not offer to replace the sensor and told me some tires "just" leak air. *kb

just a few day's after buying our new car we noticed on occasion the passenger air bag lite would not indicate on.. took it back to the dealer and they tried it out and it worked for them.the second time we took it to the dealer they did see the chevy said that they could reset something and it would help. the third time we took it back to they put a new sensor in the seat.. now it is up there a 4th time for them to see what is going on... they dealer has been wonderful on trying to take care of the issue... i have looked on the internet and there is several complaints on this... can we just request that chevy let us buy another model?

sitting at a stop light, the speedometer went up to over 60mph and slowly fell back down to zero. this has happened multiple times since the initial incident. i took it into the dealer where i bought it and they said they would have to replace the speedometer and needed to order a new one. i decided to wait until i moved (i was in the middle of a cross country move) and when i took it in for the 7500 mile maintenance, i asked the dealer service center in my new city to check out the speedometer. they didn't find anything and can't do anything about it until one of their technicians witnesses it.

2011 chevy cruze manual transmission 6 spd. random occurrence of speedometer spikes digital and needle (anywhere from 20-120 mph), volume on radio will also spike with this issue. when speedometer spiking the steering wheel will also unwontedly move 1/2 - 2 inches left or right every time which could distract/startle driver leading to a possible accident. chevy refuses to look for a problem that "isn't there". as stated by dealership without code or a tech witnessing it. occurrence happens when rolling at slow speeds (0-7 mph) or stopped with clutch engaged or slowly being released. happens, 10-15 times+ a month. has startled me several times once including me letting off the clutch and stalling the vehicle from being startled. vehicle assembled: lordstown,ohio mileage when first noticing this issue: 78.0 current mileage, issue still occurring: 18,749. seen dealership :3 times about current issue.

i just got oil change a week before this happened through the dealer. at northshore chevrolet in smithtown ny. my son was waiting at traffic light at intersection of pond path and nicolls road in setuket ny. when a woman in next lane was yelling your.cars is on fire. just as he was exiting car he saw a flame pop out from the engine compartment. in 2 mins the car was fully engulfed and flames were at 15ft high. my car is fully stock no aftermarket items installed. dealer maintained. upon some research i am not alone with this problem. gm needs to findout and correct this problem before someone get seriously hurt. the chevy cruze is a great car that we loved driving and owning.

engine seems to momentarily cutoff when accelerating after moving about 15 feet or less with accelerator in steady position from a stop after idling in gear. dealer description hesitation, sometimes it does hesitate when pressing the accelerator but mostly seems to lose all power momentarily. issue is repeatable and has been noted on at least two vehicles by this owner. this issue is a safety concern, no accident yet but could happen unexpectedly to a driver if not yet aware of the problem. owner was told by service center gm is aware of problem and a possible software update may be available, unknown date of release as of december 2011. this owner believes all 2011 cruze's have this issue, just have to be in the right circumstance and know how to reproduce it. if you have been told it is turbo lag do not fall for it, if this was the case it would happen all the time.

at the end of november i noticed a smell coming from my cruze. it smelled like antifreeze. i waited a few days to see if it smelled again. sure enough on another cool morning using the heat i smelled it again. when using and adjusting the heat the smell is terrible. my windows also have a film on them. it does not frost up but there is a nasty film on them that smears around when wiped. lights shine in and make a rainbow type coloring on them and hard to see. this has to be a safety issue. while on vacation in december i took it to a dealer after smelling it now on a daily basis. they could not smell it and would not even open the hood. on jan 25 i took it to big m chevy and one guy smelled something, unsure of what it was they pressure tested it and nothing showed. they put dye in and i drove it for 13 days smelling it daily. they looked at it again on 2/7 and said no leaks. it is going to a 3rd dealer monday. i am to the point of stopping driving it. it can not be healthy for me and my children to breathe this in daily. you have to ride with the windows down. the leak has to be found, something changed (maybe starting with the heater core) or i am trading it in soon.

the vehicle experiences a severe delay in throttle and transmission response, to the point of endangerment. when driving at 60-65mph and commanding passing power, the vehicle normally will bog down as the pedal is depressed, then disengage the gear, wait up to 3 seconds, rev up 500-1,000rpm and then engage the gear and begin moving forward (at which point it is within a few hundred rpm of redline and bounces off of the fuel cutoff.... while in drive, not manual mode). the transmission also shifts harshly up and down randomly. upon a cold start, the vehicle nearly stalls when coming out of a parking garage with an incline, then proceeds to idle at 1,800rpm and push the vehicle forward with nearly enough thrust to cause a collision if the brake pedal is not stood on. the vehicle has almost stalled on me while driving on flat ground, a handful of times (sometimes when i turn on the rear defroster, sometimes just coming to a stop). additionally, there is a pulsating that can be felt throughout the car (most notably through the brake pedal) and a grinding noise coming from the engine bay. the vehicle has been brought in to power chevrolet in mesa, arizona where these concerns were brought up, including the concern for safety, at which point the ecm and tcm were reset to default values (which made the transmission even more horrible, due to deleting the adaptive values). i was spoken to like a child and given a printout explaining how an automatic transmission and auto-stop feature worked and told that the pulsating (which is widely acknowledged as a bad ac compressor part for this vehicle and was mentioned to the dealer when the car was brought in) and other issues were non-existent. i guess that i will have to wait for these parts to fail, hoping and praying that it doesn't kill me or my passengers in the process, in order to get these issues addressed.

while driving a 2011 cruze eco with approximately 11,000 miles the car caught fire. the car was last serviced by the deal approximately 4,000 miles ago (3 months). the car was 30 miles into a 43 mile trip when it caught fire, and prior to the incident there were no warning signs of any problems with the vehicle. the only indication of a problem was slight smoke coming from the engine bay, and then as soon as the car was stopped a flame came out between the hood and the cowl area. the car was totally engulfed within 5 minutes of stopping, and it was only after the first sign of fire was visible that the warning light on the dash boar illuminated. the car is a total loss, and chevrolet has stated they will have someone contact me in 7 to 10 days to discuss the incident. from research online it appears this is not an isolated incident, and i am concerned as i was never warned via a technical bulletin or recall of any potential issue with this vehicle. chevrolet has not seemed to be very concerned over this issue thus far, but i am pushing for action from chevrolet.

when chevy cruze reaches full operating temperature, using the heater produces a very strong smell comes from the heating ducts inside the car. especially during use of the defrost setting. the smell is like burning antifreeze and burning plastic. this happens when the heater is set to full hot. fan speed doesn't seem to matter. this only exists once the car has reached full operating temp. with the car off over night residual smell still permeates inside the car. the smell on a 30 minute commute is so bad that i feel dizzy, nauseous, and i have to roll the windows down even when it is cold outside. i have asked others to ride with me and every person has experienced the smell.

i have been having transmission problems with his vehicle since its purchase in july 2011. first incident was the day after i accepted delivery of the vehicle. dealer stated there was nothing wrong after driving with me and no record of the service was created. after changing dealers, i was told there was nothing wrong with the transmission and they could not duplicate the problem. on future visits, the transmission software was updated which helped some, but did not alleviate the problem completely. yesterday, the following warnings were displayed: service stabilitrack system service traction control system i have opened another complaint with chevy stating the transmission has ongoing problems and i want my money refunded. this is the second complaint i have opened with them. the first complaint was "resolved" by offering full coverage maintenance for 9000 miles at this point in time, i am reluctant to drive the vehicle anywhere because i am afraid it will fail. if you need any additional information, please let me know. thank you.

i would like to put in a complaint on my chevy cruze 2011. since purchasing it, there have been 3 recalls due to steering and engine. i have had to bring the car into the dealership 3 separate times for the recalls beginning one month after purchase. now, the car has had 2 separate major problems (engine & currently back at the dealership for problem related to transmission), this vehicle has broken down once while in heavy traffic, but luckily i was able to pull to the side of the road, and the second time it broke down was on a street less heavily traveled, however, i was almost rear ended. if this would've occurred while on a heavily traveled or faster speed zone, i feel that a terrible crash would have happened. both times may have resulted in serious injury or even death. i do not feel safe in the vehicle and would rather it sit in the driveway than to risk driving it. i lease the vehicle, but i would like to know any options for getting out of this lease & getting into a safe car. thank you!

have had the car less than 1 year and had 50 miles on the car when i bought it 8/2011. on 6/19/2012 traveling on the highway at 65 miles an hour my 2011 chevy cruze (14,500 miles) suddenly began slowing and the engine was revving high. i pulled over and a light on the dash appeared indicating "emissions problems" according to the manual. it is an automatic transmission but the car didn't want to shift any higher than 3rd gear and would go no faster than 30-35 miles an hour without revving in the danger zone. car was towed to dealer. the transmission control module failed. $1300 for the part plus labor costs and not covered by warranty. worried it may occur again because i am finding similar stories posted online.

i have a 2011 cruz lt. i have noticed a weird smell when using the ac. only july 9th, 2012 i had a warning that said "turning of ac due to overheat" the car was not overheating. 5 hours later i turned the car on and the check engine light was on and the engine/fan was making a loud noise while running, which sounded like a huge fan. i called onstar they said they located an "engine cooling system problem" to turn off the car and to have it towed to the dealership. which i did. the dealership said my car was just out of antifreeze and they added more to it. i have looked online i'm not the only person with this problem. what am i supposed to do, just keep antifreeze with me at all times? there must be a leak somewhere for it to be empty.

received a recall #12081,we took the car into the local chevrolet dealer in conway sc for the repairs ,about 45 min. .when it was completed ,i asked the service adviser ,hoh it was repaired. he sad it was reworked and modified per chevrolet specs . little did i know. there repairs consist of removing most of the shield and leaving the engine and wiring left unprotected to the elements on the roads.all they had to do was cut a access hole in the plate to get to the oil drain plug /honestly it looks like it was done in such a hurry to just save a few dollars . 8 calls later , they all said the same thing,that is how the engineers said to do the repairs. sorry that all we can do for you,chevrolet thanks you for your concerns.

the sensor to turn on the passenger side airbag does not turn on the airbag when my wife sits down. she weighs 115 lbs.. this is the second time this has happened. i first reported it to the chevrolet dealer about six months ago.the first time the dealer called chevrolet and changed the seat sensor. this fixed the problem until just this date, july 24, 2012. i just returned the car to the dealer with my wife in the seat and the airbag light indicating the bag was off and no one was in the seat. this is a serious defect and i think chevrolet or the nhtsa should order a recall. they said it was a weight problem. i was told they would look into it and let me know what will be done. they also indicated it was not a new problem and was occurring in other products. i need your help to get this dangerous problem fixed. thank you for your consideration.

i brought my new car in for a oil change on 5-15-12, they forgot to put the oil cap back on and i had oil everywhere inside my car it was a complete mess, i did not know it was smoking because it was a rainy and foggy night. by the time we parked it we thought it was on fire, my husband checked the oil and it was empty, we got towed back to chevy of milford to be fixed and cleaned, they said that there was oil in it and only a little came out.[not true] i don't really think the car runs the same after that, it spits and spudders alot. on july 23rd 2012 i bring it back to them for a recall # 12081. and asked them to also check why my car spudders and to check for a slow leak in the back tire. they got back to me later that morning and said, there is nothing wrong with the way it drives, and my tire cant be fixed i would have to buy another for $125.00 because of where the hole was it could not be patched. i told them no on the tire and took it to a tire place, townfair tire took the screw out of it witch they didn't find [chevy of milford] and patched it from the inside at n/c. on 7-24-2012. i really don't feel safe in this car anymore after chevy of milford looked at it twice and came back with 2 lies. i don't even trust that they did the recall for all i know. where do i go from here? please help, i have 2 small grandchildren i drive around in this car.

severe drive train decoupling, and hook up delay, when attempting to accelerate into traffic and subsequent attempts to change lanes in traffic. close calls numerous!!!! accidents and deaths inevitable!!!!!!! further assessment has shown the only way to resolve the issue is to shift transmission to manual mode and keeping engine speed above 2500rpm. thereby reducing turbo lag and disabling major computer control over transmission shift function. this type of engineering is unacceptable in any modern production automobile and should be immediately addressed by the manufacturer. or class action lawsuits should be brought forth by the owners of these vehicles. is this the real reason this vehicle boasts so many airbags???

this has happened on several occasions. first of all just to make you aware, this has only happened on a cold start for the vehicle. i am at an incline, it may even be a slight incline, i go to put my car in reverse, and i lose my breaks. this specific incident that i am reporting almost caused an accident. i was leaving a mall parking lot, and i went to stop at a light, and my car would not stop no matter how hard i pushed on the breaks. almost causing me to hit the car in front of me. upon that happening i made a call to the dealership in which i purchased the vehicle, and took the car in the same day. they kept my car for seven days, and told me there was nothing wrong with it.

since i purchased the car last year, it has shifted hard either in auto or manual. mostly auto. however, when it shifts down to first gear in manual, it jerks me forward. this is an ongoing problem and no real date to be associated to. i have had it in the dealership twice but the 'compuater' says there is not a problem. after much frustration and being honked at when i can't accelerate quick enough at a light, i filed a complaint with general motors last week. they responded quickly but today i find out that the dealership will not work with me on getting out of the car. it's basically about paying more to get in another vehicle. the computer said it was fine, so it's fine. if i had a small child, i would not want them in this car! i will not be driving my grandson in this car. this is absolute insanity to completely ignore a common issue. i googled and found hundreds of people complaining about the very thing on the ls model. even a salesperson told me he doesn't not recommend this car to anyone!

i bought this vehicle as a present for my father. after getting it home, (driving it home was all highway), he drove it around the block and noticed it had a lag in the vehicle speed. it almost felt as though it was a manual transmission. i drove it home that night and noticed the same feeling. it's almost as though it takes a lot of effort out ofthe car to keep driving. it downshifts before its supposed to when driving and as a results isn't getting the gas mileage its supposed too. driving city, it was only getting 18-19mpg for me. it does much better on the highway, over 55mph, then with city driving. took it back to the dealer, who took it to a bigger chevy dealer and they stated nothing was wrong. got it back and its the same way. we love the car but will not drive it because we are afraid of not knowing what's wrong with it and possibly having something serious happen to it. we have 2 little ones that we need to worry about who ride in the car as well. seems pretty unsafe to have a car downshift and lag with speed aspect when its not supposed too. wish a recall would come out.

ever since the purchase of the car i have experienced a hesitation upon acceleration at all speeds. i have also talked to a few people who have had the same complaint with their cruze. we have been told that this effect is known as turbo lag. the dealers say the turbo charger takes time to catch up with the rotation speed of the engine. i have driven many cars with turbo charge in my life as an auto mechanic and have never felt this hesitation on any of them. why would a turbo charger lag when it's whole purpose is to enhance acceleration. i took the car in to the dealer for the last recall and asked them to check into this phenomena while it was in the shop. they wrote on the repair order that they could not duplicate my complaint during the road test. i am concerned because a hesitation of this sort can be very dangerous especially pulling out into traffic. please investigate this matter. i will continue to complain to the dealer because their stance seems to be that this is something chevy cruze owners are forced to live with. i've already had some close calls due to this hesitation. thank you.

i am very angry that chevrolet has been allowed to greenlight hacksawing the chevy cruze's engine guard as an acceptable fix to their safety recall. my husband and i are very uncomfortable with allowing our dealership to sawzall the engine guard apart. we are more concerned about the safety of our vehicle after this procedure is done than not having it done at all. chevy forums are lodging complaints of increased noise, trouble with control as wind goes into the open engine compartment, and the engine compartment being left open to the elements. chevy should have to provide an acceptable re-design of the engine guard, and fix their mistake. why hasn't the nhtsa pressured them to take this seriously and come up with a solution that does not hurt chevy cruze owners?

when using the heater in my cruze there is an odor of antifreeze inside the cab. when the heater is used for more than 10 - 15 minutes at a time, the odor got so strong that it caused headache, dizziness, and nausea. i took the car in for repair and was informed that gm had sent a memo because it was a common problem. they performed the repairs recommended by gm which was to replace weatherstripping around the heater core and replace a tube at the overflow tank. however, when i used the heater that same night, i discovered that it still emitted an odor of antifreeze, although it was not as strong as before and i could use the heater for a longer period of time without getting the headache, dizziness, and nausea.

car will not accelerate when pulling into traffic. this is a problem that happens intermediately. you let up on the brakes and press the accelerator and the car just creeps forward and does not accelerate. occurs most often when the car is cold or the a/c in on and/or you are making a right or left turn, however, it can occur at anytime. the only solution is to press the accelerator to the floor at which point the car will accelerate too quickly and throws the vehicle into traffic. the dates and mileage given above are estimates on my part. the car has been acting this way since we got it.

the automatic transmission shifts very hard between first and second gear, and second and third gear. this happens when the transmission is shifting up or down. the occupants in the vehicle get a whiplash effect every time the car shifts between these gears. also the transmission takes too long to find a gear resulting in the vehicle not accelerating when the driver commands it. the car has stalled while starting driving away from a red light from a full stop, requiring the driver to restart the vehicle. this should not happen in a car with an automatic transmission. while in motion the car will shift into neutral and will not respond to the drivers push on the gas pedal. it will then slam into gear, causing a more violent whiplash effect than when it is shifting as mentioned earlier in this complaint. i have taken the car to the local dealership multiple times for these issues and they keep telling me that the transmission is operating normally. no transmission should operate this way, and no other vehicle i have ever driven operates as bad as this 2011 chevy cruze. the gm customer service people have opened multiple cases and tried to help me with this but they have not followed through well enough and i am stuck with a defective transmission in this car.

i was in stop and go morning rush hour traffic going aprox. 10 mph. i pressed the brake to stop slightly more than one car lengh away from the car in front of me. the brakes felt soft and i had to press the brake pedel all the way to the floor to get it to respond. the brakes did not catch all the way, they only slowed the car slightly (to aprox. 5mph) and i rear-ended the car in front of me. i had the brakes, fluid, and electrical/computer components checked, and they could not find anything wrong with the car.

the first safety issue was noticed within the first week of ownership. the air bag indicator light indicated "off" with an adult passenger in the passenger seat. this car has been to the dealership 4 times for this issue and it remains unsolved. the second safety issue was noticed in october or november 2012. the car fills with an odor of anti-freeze when the heater is in use. the car has been to dealership 4 times for this issue and it remains unsolved. i feel these are both extreme safety issues that should be investigated as it appears to be a problem in many of the 2011 cruzes.

we had purchased the vehicle just 8 months ago, was not purchased new, but was new used..still under warranty..we received the recall. had an oil change and detail to do anyhow, so took it in to where we bought the vehicle. they did the oil change, supposed recall fix and supposed detail. our vehicle was still under warranty at the time of the oil change. 36000. as we drove, started smelling burning oil...never occurred before. opened hood and noticed an oil leak below the vehicle into the engine shield. being out of warranty by that time, we did nothing. just figured they did an improper oil change and it was leaking. today, we discovered while checking the oil that it had gas in the oil chamber. in pulling the dip stick out, it leaked all over the engine..i quickly smelled of it, smelled like gas. my husband drained it, as we were four hours from home, replaced the oil with new. when we returned home, checked oil. 1/3 quart of gas had contained itself in the oil chamber on our small road trip. so, now we have a 2011. 43,000 mile new car with gas in engine oil and leaking.. any suggestions??

the car has problems with acceleration. it poses a safety concern especially when crossing traffic and or passing another car. you can be driving the car and it will literally lose power- and then you have to press the pedal to the floor- and hope it goes. sometimes the car will sound as if it is in idle mode when in driving the car. when you start the car and begin driving it jerks and it lunges- it feels like you are bouncing around. the car still has its manufactures warranty and i have had it at the dealer's auto shop on several occasions- one guy there believes something is wrong with the car but is not able to find what it is. unfortunately, i am told there is nothing wrong with the car and that is the "characteristics" of that car due to the turbo. i disagreed. i believe it poses a safety issue- i have never told my mother before the following about a car. "if i die in this car she better start looking at general motors." i have never felt so unsafe in a car- and the main reason i purchased the car was for all its safety features. ironic. i have read the same complaints on the web- unfortunately it will not be addressed until someone is either dead or seriously injured for gm to address these complaints.

my 2011 chevy cruze has an erratic shifting transmission. at times it is confused and hunts for gears. at other times, it has banged into gear. most of my driving is in stop and go traffic and not highway driving. the scariest part is the lack of acceleration at times when stepping on the gas. several months ago, while exiting a shopping center, i almost got hit by a bus i was a little into the road and had time to go before the bus got to me, but when i stepped on the gas, nothing happened! luckily, the bus had room to go around me! i have complained to the dealer many times about this situation, but am told there is no new update or transmission reflash from gm. so, i thought it was time to step things up because i did a lot of research on the internet concerning this very transmission issue and lack of acceleration for the 2011 cruze and it seems to be a common complaint of most 2011 cruze owners unless they have had something called a trifecta tune done to their cars, at their own expense. they claim this procedure "cures" the shifting problem. first off, my car is a lease, so i cannot modify my car in any way. secondly, why should i pay hundreds to fix something that is gm's problem. about six months ago, i contacted gm customer service. from about july, 2012 to nov. i have been hooked up with three different people who were with the early response team in the business resource center. there were a ton of phone calls from them, but it was all talk and no action except for a new tcm that was installed in aug. at 10,196 miles. that did nothing to improve the transmission shifting. i then contacted gm corporate on nov. 7th to explain my problem. from then until today, jan.21, 2013 i dealt with a gentlemen. finally, on jan. 15, an engineer was sent to my dealer. conclusion- like everyone else with this problem- "operating as designed"! i feel this is a safety issue

the chrome coating on the inside drivers side plastic door handle is failing. the edges of the chrome where it has separated from the plastic are razor sharp and have caused multiple fairly deep lacerations to my fingers when opening the door. i inquired at the dealer about them replacing the part under warranty because its causing me injury despite my cautiousness while opening the handle, they told me it wasn't covered and would be an expensive fix due to the labor involved. my second complaint is the heat works intermittently and when taken to the dealer, they said i had a cracked thermostat housing which would be covered under warranty. they did not fix it however and simply refilled my antifreeze and said they would call me to have it fixed when the part came in....that was almost two weeks ago.

this incident is occurring on a new vehicle that was purchased less than 2 years ago. on 3 separate occasions, while driving on the freeway, at a rate of speed approximately 65 -75 mph, the lights on the dash would light up and the car would fail to accelerate and start losing speed. attempts to press the accelerator and gain speed would result in either the car revving very high and only reach 5 - 10 mph hour, or the car would completely lose power and die. the owner of the vehicle was unable to exit the freeway due to the high rate of speed of the other vehicles on the freeway as the car would not accelerate faster than 5-10 mph. this situation is highly dangerous as the vehicle is in jeopardy of being in an accident or causing an accident as you have no warning before the car starts to just lose speed at a very fast pace. the manufacturer and/or dealership indicated they had corrected the problems each time.

i have a chevrolet cruze, i bought it in october of 2010; after a few months i discovered that my car was shifting roughly. i also noticed that my car would not gain speed at a normal rate. i have fought for 2 years to have my car inspected and repairs to be done; nothing has come of it yet. i notified gm with the issue and was told that they would put in a new transmission. i was also notified that the issue would persist, it is the way my model transmission works. i know this is a safety concern, my car has already left me stranded once. i believe that gm is going under the radar and just trying to appease me with a new transmission. i also believe that more can be done for the problems that persist in my car and gm is refusing for it to be done. my car is a safety hazard from the numerous recalls to the transmission and computer defects. gm is trying to push me into accepting an amount that is less then half of what i have paid into the car or take the transmission. i have no other options from them. i would very much appreciate some guidance in this matter. thank you

the car engine light came on and i took into the robbins chevrolet dealership for a check up and i told the advisor that the car was running sluggish and gears were slow interacting. they told me they would run a diagnostic test and determine the problem(s). the cause was a thermostat heater failed, so they replaced thermostat housing and pull vacuum on coding system to refill coolant and leak test. they road tested it and stated it was repaired.

on april 2, 2013 my car did not change gears properly and it had a loud noise. i could not make it to the robbins chevrolet dealership, so i pulled over at the nearest gas station and called robbins chevrolet and explain this problem of the transmission issue. they stated to call their wrecker service and bring the car into the dealership. i called the wrecker and my wait time was 30 minutes and i was taken to the car dealership service area and arrived around 10:45am. i explained how the car was straining to pull gears and it was unsafe to continue to drive it in that condition. i was given a loaner car and the advisor, alex called me around 4pm and stated my car had a mechanical issue with the transmission and the powertrain coverage warranty covered the expenses and it would be available for pick up on 4/26/2013.

i purchased my first new car in 2011 and the first year went great then everything changed after that. the car would idle a lot higher then it started jerking when i decelerated and accelerated like it had a hard time shifting into gears. took it to the dealer in kalamazoo and they ran a diagnostic and came back with nothing. they even kept it for 3 weeks and weren't able to recreate it then as soon as i got it acted up. then shortly after that the car wouldn't shift gears until it reached about 3000 to 3500 rpms along with lag in acceleration when stepped on the gas pedal. this only happens periodically. this has been soo frustrating and i'm disappoint in chevy at the moment and i question on buying a new one in the future.

i was leaving my driveway when i tried to stop at the end. the brake pedal fell to the floor and the car kept rolling. i am so thankful that i was not on the interstate or having to make a sudden stop. i had it towed by aaa to the dealership. i was told by the dealership that my brake booster was bad and that there is a bulletin out about hard braking. they ordered the part as they do not keep it in stock. they are supplying me with a rental while i wait for the car to be fixed. i will keep you updated as to if them replacing the brake booster fixes the issue.

i purchased my new car in may of 2011, my first year i had no problems. my second year i have lost brakes took it to dealer and they replaced my brake switch. and now it is having shifting issues. it revs high when removed from park to drive when you left off the break it jerks hard throwing you back into the seat. it also loses power. if im stopped and try to pull out it does not want to go. it hesitates then it will take off quickly. the hesitation is very un safe. i have been almost hit by an on coming car due to it. luckily it took off so no accident that time. i do not trust it. i recently lost power going up hill around a turn i was accelerating but losing speed. i completely left off the accelerator and reapplied it was a slow response but finally took off and drove. it is not shifting properly. i have an automatic. it just seems hard shifting and jerky when it does shift. this is a major issue. someone is going to get killed from the sluggish delay these vehicles are having then gm will be sued. mine seems to be getting worse yesterday 20 may 2013 was the first for lose of power up hill. i have not yet had my back to dealer over this issue but since it is getting worse and acting up more often i will taking it in and see what they say about it.

i was very slowly backing out of my parking space at work and the vehicle would not stop when the brakes were applied. this happened to me 4 times within a 7 month period, 3 times were in the winter when i would be backing out of a driveway but i had assumed it was due to the slick road conditions that we had but i was apparently wrong. i am scheduled to have my vehicle looked at on 5/31 and i am hoping that they repair it at no cost because i feel it is a defect. i don't feel that it is my brake pads that could be bad because any other time the car will stop on a dime, there is no braking noises or abnormal feeling in the brakes at any other time. thinking back it only seems to happen when i don't let my car sit and idle for a few minutes before i start going.

on 10/11/2012, and 10/18/2012, and 11/20/2012 i experienced "dragging" while attempting to accelerate. the car acted as if it didn't want to go into the next gear. eventually it did, but not before struggling to do so. i had it towed to the dealership all 3 times at their expense because it was still under warranty. the car has been serviced 3 times for the same issue, but it hasn't been completely resolved. 90% of the time there is still some hesitation somewhere between 13 to 45 mph. so much so that even a passenger has felt it upon occasion. i don't feel safe in this vehicle at all times and i'm worried that i'll eventually be stranded again. even though it's been serviced 3 times i still have no peace about the situation because the car is still malfunctioning.

i bought my 2011 chevy cruze december 31, 2011 and have had problems with the transmission ever since. i took a trip 06.2011 6 months after i had my car and went to accelerate and had nothing total transmission gone. they had my car for over 30 days and i still have problems. the transmission is choppy and erratic. when i am stopped or nearly stopped and accelerate to go again, the transmission just revs as if it is in neutral. this is not safe - make me a prime candidate for a rear-end collision. when traveling at cruising speed of 50-60mph, it is choppy and shifting when you would not expect it to shift. when coming to a fast stop, it clunks and then lunges - so firm pressure on the brake pedal is necessary not to hit the car in front of me. i have had the car into the chevy dealership 5 times now and am told that since the chevy mechanic cannot duplicate the problems and there are no lights on there is nothing that can be done. and it is currently in the shop right now for the above problems for the 5th time.

this car exhibits a hesitation from a stop and also cruising upon acceleration, a symptom i have also read about in some of the complaints already filed on the site. as with most complaints submitted to the dealer the technician said he could not find anything wrong when i took it in to be looked at. after talking to a few cruze owners one of them said he was told the problem was due to " turbo lag ". this is a period in time that the turbo motor must catch up to the rpm's of the engine which results in the hesitation. this is very dangerous when trying to enter a highway or maneuver out of a critical situation. gm must acknowledge this malfunction and recall affected vehicles and repair them which can be done by tweeking the turbo to sync with the engine.

6/22/2013 i noticed transmission leaking oil. before that transmission started to slip on highway and in traffic. i told dealer before that i think the transmission is bad. did not change gears properly. dealer updated computer but transmission still had a hard shift. car will be taken to dealer to have checked. right now it looks like transmission has to be replaced. gm should recalled and replaced transmissions. transmissions can slip on highway or in traffic and could cause an crash or brake down. also i here that other people are having problems with their cruze.

after oil change and left the dealership a strong smell of burning antifreeze filled the inside of the car, it was very difficult to breath. i turn the car around back to the dealer they checked (or so they said) could not find anything wrong with it, when i got into my car it was covered with air freshener they put so much of it to cover up the burning smell that it took about 3 weeks to wear off and the smell started all over again. but they won't do anything because according to them there's nothing wrong with the car. the trunk button does not work anymore though at the dealer they confirm is an issue they have with the cruzes they won't cover under warranty and have to pay $200.00 for something they know is a faulty part on this car.

i have two 2011 chevrolet cruzes that i purchased new in 2011. both cars began to have a soft brake pedal at about 7000 miles which makes stopping difficult. most notable at low speeds especially in reverse and trying to stop the vehicle. this occurred with one cruze about a year ago and took three trips to the dealer to repair. it just started occurring in the second cruze (about 7300 miles on this vehicle) this week. the fact you can not stop the car appropriately significantly increases the risk for an accident or injury. the fact this has now happened in both my cruzes seems to indicate a significant mechanical issue and not just a one time malfunction.

when driving with an adult female in the passenger seat, the airbag indicator indicates that the airbag is off. adjusting the seat height sometimes remedies this problem, resulting in the indicator light indicating that the airbag is on. however, most of the time, the airbag remains off. we notified the chevrolet dealer about this problem. they claimed it was normal. we purchased this car, in part, because of its excellent crash rating. it is most disturbing to realize that if we ever did get into a crash, the passenger-side airbag would likely not deploy. i have a hard time believing that this is "normal". i feel less than safe in this car. please help in remedying this problem.

after about 10,000 miles the car hesitates when the accelerator is pushed. around 20 to 30 mph when needing to speed up the vehicle the vehicle will stall the transmission will then kick in with noise. very unsafe to drive in moderate to heavy traffic in cities. i have been in traffic with multiple lanes and wanting to pass someone. when pushing the accelerator to pass the car just sits there! then after a hesitation the car will pop then finally move. car has been in the shop for this problem at the dealership where they state nothing is wrong with the car. i even had one of the mechanics tell me that for these types of transmissions it is normal! how can this be safe! if i wasn't aware of my driving and a very good driver i would have had multiple wrecks with this issue. luckily i have been able to over correct when the situation occurs. at one point i had to pull off the interstate due to the fact i was pushing the gas petal all the way to the floor and my car just stalled at 23 mph for over 15 seconds until i pulled over, released the petal and engaged again.

i was involved in a front end (mostly drivers side of car) collision where a person ran a red light. both of our vehicles where going between 40 to 50 mph. on impact of my car no airbags deployed. my head hit the steering wheel and side window. after having it towed to the dealership where i bought it for repairs i mentioned this to the mechanics. i was told that the car had to be hit in certain spots before the airbags deploy! seriously? i do not feel safe in this car knowing that if i am involved in a serious accident the airbags may not be there to save my life! and to think that is one reason why i purchased the car was the fact it had high safety standards! absurd.

i purchased this vehicle new from a chevy dealership in eden prairie, mn. after only 2 mths, it began intermittently hesitating, lurching forward when attempting to accelerate (while sometimes blowing hot air from the ac) & refusing to accelerate. multiple times it has completely stalled out (while driving 30-40 mph on a highway & when accelerating from a stop on a hill resulting in rolling backward). it is currently at the dealership for the 4th time for this specific issue, but does not show any codes (no ses light). they have made many repairs in an attempt to fix this issue (leaking water pump, reprograms, wastegate solenoid replacement, etc), but the problem still persists. i am concerned that my car will stall while on a highway or passing through an intersection, which would pose a huge safety threat. i have seen numerous similar complaints & would like gm to accept responsibility & replace/recall these vehicles.

my 2011 chevy cruze has an acceleration hesitation that causes me to feel totally unsafe in the vehicle. starting about 6 months after i bought the car in 2011 the issue began. when i need to accelerate in certain situations such as pulling out on a road, passing another vehicle, accelerating after reducing speed, etc. etc. the car loses power when i step on the gas for three-five seconds before slowly responding and accelerating to where i need it to be. it's as if the car dies for a few seconds. those few seconds are always in situations when i need to be moving and i don't like it. i brought the car in to the dealership and was told that it was turbo lag. thinking i didn't know much about cars, i let it go. the issue is getting worse (and there were numerous other little issues) so i brought the car in to another dealership right before it hit 36,000 miles and was told (on two separate visits) that the problem was perfectly normal and that there was nothing they could do. they showed me a tsb from chevrolet saying that the issue was normal. they also said they could not replicate the issue. interestingly enough, when they had my car for a total of 7.5 days (over two separate visits) they gave me a 2013 cruze to drive. the newer cruze did not have the hesitation problem at all, it drove beautifully. this leads me to believe that gm realized there was an issue with the 2011 cruze and was able to remedy it in the newer models of the car which leaves the many 2011 cruze owners scared for their lives every time they drive their cars forever. that isn't right. there are thousands of people with the same year, make and model that have this same issue. it is dangerous!! just because no one that we know of hasn't died yet that doesn't mean that there isn't an issue. the 2011 cruze is unsafe and someone needs to do something about it.

about 4 pm on 8/31/13:pulling into parking space in front of sandwich shop and hair salon. normal brake pressure applied but vehicle did not stop, then both feet pressed on brake, but cars momentum caused it to jump the cement parking block. to avoid crashing through salons glass front, steering wheel was turned sharply to the right and car crashed into, and came to a stop at buildings outside supporting structure. in so doing, a car parked in the space to the right, sustained damage to drivers side- front bumper. chevy cruze sustained considerable damage to right side door panels and right-front bumper.

every time i use my heater i get a strong burning smell of coolant/ antifreeze and loss of coolant. mostly when i am stopped at a traffic light/stop sign and it's intermittent between slight or really strong. i did a lot of online research and found lots of other people with the same complaints, even found local news stories from other states on youtube. all fingers seem to point to the heater core and or the grease used in the hvac system.the smell is so bad sometimes that i have to roll down at least two windows and turn off the interior fan until i start driving again. i bought the car certified used a couple of months ago and they should have came up with a solution 2 years ago when the problem and complaints started. this issue needs to be recalled already. this is a health issue! i would really like to enjoy my first nice car and not worry about getting sick or dying from this!

while driving in rain the driver's side wiper blade stopped working. it was scary because i could not see. i pulled in at mechanic shop to check it out. the mechanic showed me where the arm for the driver side is connected by being pressed into a ball. in my vehicle the arm popped out of the ball causing the driver's side blade to stop working. the plastic socket probably got worn. the mechanic did not have the arm available so he innovated. i owned several vehicles in my life and much older and the wiper blades never quit like this. i think it is a safety issue and i am scared driving the cruze. i still have the innovated fix in case somebody wants to look at it. i am very disappointed with chevy.

1.4 liter 2011 cruze heater blowing cool air. gm inspection done on 10/17/13 and they said everything was good. they told me not to worry about the intermittent check engine light that keeps coming on. this happened within two weeks. we added a almost a quart of coolant following the directions in the owners manual. now a month later it is a quart low again blowing cool air from the heater and a strong sweet smell permeates the car. the car also fails to properly brake at times and gain speed at times. it has stalled while idling at stoplights. there is a oily residue on the plastic shield located near the oil pan.

sudden loss of engine power. the first occurrence happened exiting a fast moving expressway. the engine suddenly stopped power and the car was reduced to less than 5 miles an hour. the car was pulled to the shoulder and turned off. eventually after restarting the car the engine went to full power and the car reached its destination. there was some luck involved as traffic was light. since, the loss of power has happened five more times. at least one occurrence was very dangerous - pulling from a stop sign onto a busy road. i feel that this issue makes the cruze one of the most dangerous cars on the road. the issue happens without warning and can happen at 65 miles an hour or from a stop. i know that i am not the only person with this issue and i am upset that this has not been addressed by chevrolet. thanks for the opportunity to voice my concern and hopefully help others.

the brakes completely failed on my car completely in the summer of 2012 when the car was about a year old. it was repaired and given back to me by the dealership. the brakes failed again after i left the dealership (which again put me in heavy traffic with no working brakes). the vacuum pump was replaced on the car at this time. the dealership told me at that time that they had not seen that issue but had another 2011 cruze come in after mine with the exact same issue. the dealership had my car for about 20+ days because the parts needed were on back order. gm issued a recall notice for this part (vacuum pump) on august 13, 2013 but the letter stated that they did not have the parts at that time to fulfill the recall and would notify customers when they had the parts to complete the recall. on january 10, 2014 my brakes failed again for the third time, while i was in traffic. i had the car towed back to the same dealership. the vehicle has 41,000 miles on it at this time and has had three brake issues in which i had no working brakes. i contacted gm's customer care on january 13, 2014 and their employees expressed minimal concern about their unsafe product and the risk to me or the public.

the car check engine light came on, then it said power reduced. luckily no one was behind me. if i let the car set for a bit, it will start and run ok. the problem occurs only in the winter when it's damp or foggy and the temperature is at freezing. in the winter of 2013, it happened twice. it happened again on 01/07/14. i had the car towed to a mechanic, and was told that although the car's computer told him when it happened, it could not be determined why it happened. when it is warmer outside, it ran fine and probably will until it gets colder again! i asked the dealer if this was a problem anyone else was experiencing and was told no. based on what i see from postings on various websites, i am not alone! the throttle body appears to be an obvious a factory defect, but gm won't offer a recall. i commute about 60 miles to work each way, so the car is well beyond its warranty. it would be nice to not have to watch the weather report to decide if i think the car is safe to drive because it might cold enough to have it happen again. i was contacted by chevrolet customer service, and was told that they would check into the problem with my car. all they did was refer me to my dealership where it would be fixed at my expense, and did not recognize or admit that this is a problem with the design of the engine (factory defect). gm will not recognize that there is a problem with the 2011 cruze that many people are dealing with. the conditions under which the car loses power (cold weather) cannot be simulated by the dealership mechanics because their diagnostics in a heated garage. the problem has not and will not show up when they test it. when the car loses power it happens abruptly. this is a safety concern as the car cannot maintain its speed, and during heavy traffic flow it is likely that someone is going to end up in a crash as a result. it is a defect with the car!

driving home from work on busy tollway,after it snowed all of a sudden my service stabilitrak-reduced engine power lights came on. the car cut to 20 miles per hour.i couldn't go any faster and nowhere to pull over since the tollway was under construction.got off the tollway called the dealer to take it in.the chevy dealer told me to shut the car off wait 5 min. it will reset. ok it did,took it the next day to chevy, they cant find anything wrong, took it home. went to work 3 days later it did it again i brought it back to chevy still cant find out what is wrong.this car has continued to do this 15 more times.the reason why i am telling you this is because there is a problem with these cars there have been more chevy cruzes with the same problem.i am afraid to drive this car i have borrowed a car to get to work,the first time this happened to me on the tollway i thought my life was over it could have caused a serious accident im glad im here to tell someone about my problem and hope someone takes some action with it.

was parked in front of an establishment and was unable to remove ignition key or move the gear shift up and down. i was able to remove the overdrive box in front of the gear shift so i could shift the car into gear and drive home, however, because the car was not recognizing the gear shift was in park i was still unable to remove the ignition key when i got home so the car's battery died. i contacted one of chevy's tow services in order to get the car towed but due to the car being in the garage, the tow driver suggested that he try to jump the car to avoid having to push the car manually out of the garage. the car started and i was able to drive it to the dealership. after 3 days of working on the car, the service manager told me that the jump may have fried the computer so it needed to reconfigured which cost me over $1000 (due to it not being under warranty). i was only made aware of the many recalls that chevy has had on the cruze due to having to take the car into the dealership again (water pump needed to be replaced) and talking to another customer about my distaste & frustration that i've been experiencing with this car. i was never mailed any of the recalls which i can't understand why as i'm always receiving mailings from the dealership where i purchased my car. i feel as though the initial problem was due to two of chevy's recalls (campaign #11v273000 & 11v270000) so chevy should have paid for the repairs. this issue is one of the many issues i've had since i purchased the car brand new in june 2011.

my children & i almost didn't make it home! was experiencing issues with the heat not heating up the car on tuesday and on yesterday, i was driving north on the 394 expressway and received an error message on my dashboard of "a/c shut off due to high temperatures" so i turned the heat off and the gauge slowed moved back down. however, after driving a short distance further the temperature gauge had moved all the way to the "red" line and i receive the error message to "shut the engine down" because of overheating. i immediately pulled and slowly the gauge moved back to the normal position. i called the dealership that worked on my car less than 3 weeks ago and the service advisor informed me that it may be another glitch but he wanted to ensure that all of my fluids were fine and since i wasn't very far from the dealership to bring the car in (even though their service dept was closing in about 20 mins). after looking at the car, the service advisor informed that just about all of the coolant ran out and there was probably an issue with the water pump. i was shocked, bothered & frustrated because it had been less than a month that i just had to have this car worked on. fortunately, the water pump didn't cost me anything due to it still being under warranty but that still doesn't change the fact that i'm a very dissatisfied customer.

turned on car in the morning and received 2 messages of "engine power reduced", "service stabili-trac", service traction control" as well as a check engine light. engine would not go above 1500 rpm's. took it into dealer and was told that i had a transmission leak and because they didn't have time they wanted me to reschedule for the following week. problem continued to happen and on my way in to work on 02/11/14 the problem happened two times in the morning and was forced to put car in park turn off engine and restart. then happens 3 times once on a very busy highway into downtown denver and twice in downtown. called dealership and was told that i needed to bring it in. was told that it was the "throttle body" which is a $450.00 fix not covered under power train warranty . with so many people having this problem and almost being hit every time it happens due to it happening abruptly when cold it is a clear safety issue and needs to be recalled. i sense that if they don't there will be a class action law suite in their future.

has happened multiple times starting about a month ago, either when idle at a light, driving around town or on the freeway (i have not been at full hwy speed when this has occurred) the stabilitrak warning comes on and engine power is reduced to practically nothing, i can't travel other than at a snail's space, with absolutely no acceleration to help get out of the way. drive train shakes a little. very dangerous position to be in. i tried to shut off the stabilitrak and that seemed to work until the last incidence when the issue occurred with stabilitrak turned off. the only way i can get the car to reset is to shut it off for a few seconds and turn it back on. might go a few days without any concerns, then all of a sudden, it starts up again. engine light stays on for a few on/off cycles then goes away.

on 12/12/13 my problems with my 2011 chevy cruze began. the engine began making a humming noise, the check engine light would come on intermittently, it began to randomly lose power and overheat. on 12/20/13 3-way chevrolet replaced the cam phase and water pump. on 01/01/14, the vehicle began making the same humming noise but louder and had a consistent loss of power. on 01/08/14, 3-way replaced the turbo charger. i picked up the vehicle on 01/09/14 and within 1 hour the check engine light came back on. i took the vehicle back to 3-way on 01/10/2014 and did not get the vehicle back until 02/20/2014. during that time, the cylinder head and valves were replaced, pistons and rings were replaced, injectors and coils were swapped from another vehicle and the car still had misfire. a gm engineer was brought in and the turbo charger was replaced again and the oil feed line was plugged. on 02/21/14, i noticed fluid in my driveway. the car is leaking something and the power is still not consistent. i contacted 3-way late friday and am waiting for a call back. i have be inconvenienced beyond words, the vehicle is unsafe and i want gm to purchase the car back.

on my 2011 chevy cruze i have noticed that my radiator coolant tank has been leaking out antifreeze. i have noticed that in may 7th 2013. i had it taken into the dealer and it got fixed by the dealer on date listed. i have continued to buy more of the special brand of coolant and just been filling it up without having to go to the dealer because then i have no vehicle to drive. last night on 1/11/14 i put more antifreeze in the vehicle and was going to check on it the next morning. i noticed that on 1/12/14 the next day that the radiator coolant tank was almost empty after filling it up all the way last night. looking around my father and i saw antifreeze sitting on the transmission and no hoses are leaking. it is being taken into the dealer again on 1/13/14 for this issue again. i have filled a complaint with gm and got a case #. gm customer service notified me that if this happens again after being taken to the dealership to call them again. my fathers guess is that the pressure in that tank is 20psi and since the hose does not appear to leak that the anti freeze from the radiator coolant tank is coming out of the tank from the pressure cap.

i had come from a red light that turned green, and as i approached the next red light, it had turned green before i got there. i was coasting in slowly as the vehicles that were already waiting at that light were starting to move forward. though the light was green, the vehicle in front of me had stopped right as he got to the intersection - he was proactive in stopping for an ambulance that was leaving the station at the corner (it was not on the street yet and no sirens.) i went to slow down before realizing he was actually stopped (at that moment, was unaware of an ambulance.) when i realized he was actually stopped, i still had plenty of time to stop the distance i was from his car ahead of me, but my car would not stop! the car slowed down significantly, however, it would not stop. it just kept rolling forward at a very slow pace. i remember pressing the brake harder, and the abs kicked in, and i heard the "crunch" sound 3 times, even though the ground was dry, at the time i did not know why, i thought something was wrong with the abs, but the car never stopped. all i could do was watch in very slow motion as my car continued to pull forward and i eventually drifted into the rear of the car in front of me. it was a very slow-moving incident but i felt totally helpless as the car continued to roll. there was no damage to his vehicle, only to mine. i was upset bc i kept replaying the incident in my mind: why didn't my car stop? why did it feel like it was being pulled forward? i had my car repaired and found nothing wrong with the brakes or tires or fluid. a few months later, i rec'd the 12213 electric vacuum pump and found the description matched my experience. i want chevrolet to refund me and my insurance company and clear this accident as my fault. i am also making a complaint to chevrolet.

when installing a child booster seat in the rear seat of our 2011 chevy cruze the booster seat completely covers the safety belt latch making it impossible to latch the belt. this applies to both the right and left sides of the car. when i contacted the dealer they stated that this was a known problem with no alternative to correct the issue. the only way to latch the safety belt is to fasten it into the incorrect latch. this in my opinion creates a major safety issue.

bought brand new and has always had jerking and hesitation when hitting accelerator. also jerking when shifting and over revving due to not shifting properly. took to dealership, they couldn't replicate issue. at 36,000 miles had to have ecm replaced due to car stalling out at stops, running very rough then stalling at stops. seemed to help somewhat but did not alleviate the running rough intermittently still at stops which is scary as don't know when it might stall out and not go as my job requires traveling through the week. at 50,000 miles had to have ecm program "updated" and spark plugs replaced...dealership said plugs should be on a recall but they did replace no charge i paid for labor charges of course. car is still running rough intermittently at stops, almost stalls out but hasn't yet...i would never buy another chevy product and am very sad to say that as had my 1998 malibu for 12 years without major issues. thank you.

the front chrome interior door handles on my 2011 chevy cruze that i purchased is peeling off. the edges of the chrome are extremely sharp. both my wife and i have cut our fingers on both front door handles while exiting the vehicle. it is no paper cut either. pretty deep and painful. i ended up placing tape around the handles as a quick fix from being cut. when i contacted the dealership, i was told it would be $150 for a new handle and that it did not include instillation. after reading numerous complaints online and observing a copy of a letter from chevrolet admitting there is a defect in the handles, i wonder why there has not been a recall as of yet on this issue.

hesitant acceleration issue. after coming to a stop. i put my foot on accelerator and vehicle did not go forward at first. then engine rev up but vehicle started to move slowly. when it did i could only go 27 mph in a 45 mph zone. had to pull over and turn off vehicle. this is a very dangerous issue when trying to merge on to a highway. went to two authorized chevrolet dealers on 12/02/13 and 4/02/14. both dealers stated they could not duplicate problem and all trouble codes indicated everything is ok. which it is not. this is a 1.4 turbo 4 engine. i am afraid to drive this vehicle. please help!

problem started close to winter,october 2013. coolant level slowly decreased, not concerned at the time, just topped off during oil changes. fast forward to april 2014, refill of coolant needed daily if heat is used. coolant tank is completely empty after car is off and sitting for a few hours! large puddle of coolant under engine, not the radiator. remains to be a slow leak. when heat is on, coolant begins to slowly leak underneath engine. temp gauge is always normal. no signs of overheating, no excess coolant in engine bay. all routine maintenance completed by chevrolet dealerships. dex (gm specific coolant, orange in color) coolant used exclusively. every time heat is turn on, at any temp, at any fan speed, at any setting (defrost, floor, etc.) there is a strong odor of burning/hot coolant. i am unable to put my children in vehicle!, when heat is needed in vehicle. odor is too strong and children complained of nausea and lightheadedness. to many instances similar to this listed. gm needs to provide resolution.

i purchased the 2011 chevy cruze with approx 55 k. when i drove the car at the lot everything seemed to be in good working order. the next day i kept hearing a surge like sound in the engine and when the accelerator was pushed the car would not gain any speed or power. i contacted the dealer and explained what was going on with the car and was told that this was common in the chevy cruzes because of the engine size and that why the car is able to get such great gas mileage. i could not stand the noise any longer march 19, 2014 i took the car to the dealers service department where car was purchased. i informed them of the issues i was having with the surging sound and the loss of speed & power. the next day informed me they could not hear any surging sound and only found 1 problem leaking thermostat. i was referred to the gm dealer to get fixed under the powertrain warranty. it has not even been a full year since i purchased this car. on april 7th 2014 i was driving on the freeway during rush hour and all of sudden i hear a dinging sound all the engine lights came on, along with the hazards lights and the car began to lose power,the center panel kept reading transmission hot idle engine. i had not had any other previous warnings,all the gauges appeared to be normal with no sign of over heating. i contacted the chevy dealer and took the car down right away.explained to them what happened and the issues the diagnoses that was given from the service dept where car was purchased. the next day the chevy dealer contacted me and said they had replace the water pump. also the transmission had burnt oil and needs to be flushed and it was not covered under the warranty. they too could not find anything else wrong as to why transmission is running hot,not even with the surging sound and lose of power. april 11th 2014 had the same issues again.

our 2011 chevy cruze eco has a problem with the trunk opening up while driving and when it is parked and locked.there is no current recall, so i took it to a dealer they said i need to replace rear compartment lid release this will cost me over $100.00 to repair. i spoke to chevy maker and i explained to them that this should be a recall because if i have stuff in my trunk and stuff flies out of it and there is a vehicle behind me this can cause a serious accident. i have spoken to complete strangers who own a chevy cruze and they are having the same problem. this should be recalled in order to save lives.please help!

car overheated on drive home. pulled over immediately and had car towed to dealership. water pump was replaced. since that time can continually smell antifreeze inside car. also have found puddles under car several times. have taken car back to dealership. was told they could find no leak. they stated the surge tank cap was loose and that they refilled tank. but it still smells. it is serviced by the dealership only. so why are they having to tighten the cap? and are they having to fill the surge tank repeatedly?

1st the vehicle failed to shift into reverse. the torque converter had disassembled and transmission was replaced. one month later the engine began to smoke, the valve cover had melted and needed to be replaced gm charged me for this under warranty part. then, i was making a left hand turn onto a residential street my vehicle began to smoke inside the vehicle. i shut down the car and looked under the hood oil was in the anti freeze fill tank, i called gm they sent a truck and took it to dealership. the result; gm told dealership to replace engine, called back and said don't replace try to fix it. they replaced the turbo charger, turbo cooler, and oil cooler, only to have me back 5-6 times with cooling problems, the vehicle still has cooling issues, and goes back for service every two weeks or so. the vehicle was brought back to service as there were still shifting problems. they found the torque converter disassembled and transmission had to be replaced again, and then again a few months later. the vehicle has a steering issue that has been brought to the their attention. the steering locks up periodically when traveling over 30mph, and has made me afraid i will be driving and lock up permanently. the brakes are an issue on the vehicle now and prior to recall for brake assist, it is still hard to stop the vehicle. and brakes have to be replaced every 3 months. there is definitely an electrical issue with this vehicle as the emergency flashers worked periodically then completely stopped working, as well as the running lights burning out within a month of replacement on the passenger side of the vehicle. the dealership feels its not a problem. this vehicle may shut off from electrical issues eventually. when using the air conditioner the dashboard fills with over a half inch of condensation and leaks out of the vents profusely. valve cover had to be replaced again.

i was stopped at a light and when the light turned green, i tried to accelerate and my car nearly stalled. the idle went real low and i pushed my foot down on the throttle and got no response for a few seconds then the engine revved up and responded by quickly going through gears to catch me back up to speed with all other traffic. this occurs infrequently, but it has occurred more than an handful and less than a dozen times since i bought the vehicle. i have the turbo charged engine and do follow the guidelines for gradual pedal pressure to accelerate my vehicle but a near stall is not a byproduct of a heavy foot on my part. aside from the safety concerns,my job requires me to commute around 55 miles/day and i can't have a malfunctioning car or one that is constantly being called back to the shop for a recall. i have already taken at least 3 days off since purchasing this car to take it into the shop for repairs/recalls. i bought a new car to avoid these frustrations. currently, i have less than 40,000 miles (mostly highway) on this car. i don't think this is typical for a new car with low mileage.

vehicle was traveling at slow speed coming up to a light when the brakes were applied, and there was no response to the brakes resulting in an accident with two other cars. there was damage done to the car in front due to the collision. we took the car in for a routine maintenance and found that there was a recall on the brakes. they replaced the brake pressure switch and that has fixed the problem. we noticed from the very beginning, that at slow speeds, it required way too much pedal to stop the car. there is a third party involved in the wreck who may seek body injury.

in 2012 i started having issues with my vehicle "chevrolet cruze 2011" and the vehicle is now or has been under gps based surveillance. the vehicles surveillance became aware to me during 2013 when i noticed constant beeping sounds. these were not the chime sounds indicating "vehicle service needed", these are post beeps or "hard drive access". the post beeps indicate access to the vehicles electronics system and compromising "electrical safety" and "sole operator owner" abilities. any time i step near the vehicle it would "sound off" indicating i approached the vehicle. any time any other person approached the vehicle it would not "sound off". any time i enter the vehicle the,car would "sound off". any time any other persons would enter the vehicle it would not "sound off". when beginning a trip the vehicle would "sound off". when reaching a stop or destination the vehicle would "sound off". when stopping at a stop light the or any stop sign or vehicle halt the vehicle would "sound off". the vehicles electrical system has been compromised, allowing malfunction and alterations of vehicle calibration "assumption". i have had electrical flaws within the vehicle such as the fans never shutting off since the stalking began. sounding off would be the audible post beeping hdd access sound, indicating information transfer within the vehicles computer system. this event is unheard of, and is undocumented on the internet, i also was able to verify with others that was not a noticeable event. this is a deliberate targeting and isolated harassment of myself and my personal life from a unknown source remotely.

the car has been losing power over the past few months while under warranty. i kept taking it back to the chevy dealership and they said nothing was wrong and reset the light. however now the car will not barely go, i have power but its forced and its as if i have to push the car up the hills to go. i live in pennsylvania so this is not an ideal situation, but i have had my oil changed regularly every 3,000 miles although other issues have occurred with the car like the cooling system and the temp gage this time i have had it checked professionally with an outside consult rather than going to the dealership and they stated that it is my turbo it doesn't work and probably hasn't worked properly on my car. i have been on several forums for chevy cruzes and it seems like there are lots of people with this issue as well.

while cruising along the highway at 65 mph, suddenly the engine stalls as if all the fuel had stopped going to it. after a few seconds of stall and slowing down while pressing on the gas all the time, it suddenly began picking up speed again. however, there was an extremely large cloud of smoke coming out the rear of the car. this occurred 4-5 more times before i arrived at home. i took it to the dealer the next business day. after several days the dealer reported the problem would be covered by warranty. three weeks later i get the car back from the dealer who reported the engine had "bad pistons". apparently there had been a notice to dealers regarding this problem and how to fix it. the dealer did provide a new loaner malibu while repairing my car. at 40,000 miles and have to have the engine rebuilt does not enhance confidence in the new gm.

took my 2011 chevy cruze into the shop on feburary after the radio, dash, headlights began shorting out (flickering on and off) the dash would flash back on it a different language and then reset itself once the car was turned off. inital quote from mechanic was that it needed a new alternator. i then did a internet search to find out many consumers on forums were reporting the same problem. at that time we refused work from the mechanic and took the car to the dealership. they stated it was a common problem and the grounding wires were tightened. the work was done and about a month later the issues started happening again, this time when the "flickering" would happen, they dash would flash "service traction control". the car was returned to the dealership where they stated the car needed new battery cables. after reviewing the concerns on the forums for other cruze customers who stated this was replaced on their cars and the problem kept happening, i was not satisfied with that option, the dealership refused to investigate further so we took my car home. the problem persisted, this week, the car began a new malfunction while "flickering" the power steering and power brakes would quit working, leaving you with no control of your vehicle while on the roads. my husbands picked the car up from me and experienced the same problem along with the door locks resetting and feeling the engine cutting out "dieing" then restarting itself. upon out return to the dealership it was asked that they inspect the car with a fine tooth comb and get to the bottom of the problem. after reading several reviews, i am not satisfied with this answer. we are getting the cables replaced but what is plan c. that is what i am interested in. who has the answer to that question?

i bought a 2011 chevy cruze from a owner, and i did not pay attention to the passenger door handle until after i bought it. the thin metal was coming off the handle. i touched it and it cut my finger. i called the chevrolet place close to my area and they quoted me a price of $80.00. i called gmc, since the car is fairly new, and did not get any help. i took the car to the local dealership, and the office manager came out (he was in a wheelchair) to look at the door. he touched it and it cut his finger. i was concerned about someone getting a cut from that metal so i paid to have the handle replaced. my major concern is if this continues to happen with these door handles in less than 3 years old, and some one is diabetic, or a small child gets cut and infected it would not be a good thing. when i said this to the office manager, he informed me he was a diabetic. i have went online and saw all the recalls for this particular car. the previous owner assured me he had the recalls fixed, but i did not realize there were so many until after i bought the car. i paid cash for this car and have yet to get a title. i continue to call the owner who either ignores me or isn't getting my call. i called his wife yesturday and she assured me her husband had the title. i had recently called the previous owner and ask for paperwork where the recall work was done. i have had no return calls... at this point what should i do? i feel like i've been shafted, but i paid 13000.00 for the car and the previous owner assured me i would not have to pay advelorum taxes, he said this was taken care of. now according to the tag office i will have to pay another 800.00 or so for the tag which i can't get without a title.

on april 30 2014, around 11:00 am the car was taken for service to a chevrolet dealer for a wheel alignment,steering and suspention system inspection and air pressure condition check, the chevy cruze was at the service dealer for aprox four hours, we then came home, around 5:30 we went to a shopping center to buy something and on the way back home, aprox six blocks from our home we stop on a stop sign on a curb/angle street divider by a small curb with trees, we then try to proceed and bare right but the car made some kind of a noise and went left going over small curb and hitting a tree, we where going going aprox 15 to 20 mph at the time of impact the police came and made a report, no summons where issue because the police officer look at the scene and comment that it looks like the car loss power/ control of the steering ,brakes and could not be control. the car was a total loss since it was damages in front/engine/air bags/etc. we know for facts that this 2011 chevrolet cruze have many recalls including steering shaft separations/brakes/steering problems.etc.

the turbocharger, due to a faulty bearing as i am being told by a certified mechanic has caused the blade inside the turbocharger to become unstable causing it slam against the parts inside the charger, thus creating a loud what i can only describe as putting a pen in a metal fan blade while it is spinning. i have the power-train warranty still on the car, but i have been reading online in public forums where this becoming a common issue for this vehicle between the mileage ranges of 30-60 thousand. please look into this issue my wife was driving the car at the time when it initially started making the noise at about 60 mph on the interstate with our two children in the car. thankfully she was nearly home where we have the car checked out and it was determined to be the turbocharger.

i bought my cruze in november at 11000 miles . i had no issues with it at all until march 21 at 21000 miles. i was driving on the highway it had been a long trip and my car lit up service stabilitrak and service traction control warning lights and power steering. along with my dash (speedometer, odometer going haywire) no engines problem just that light i called the dealer who said they never heard of it and it was probably a flute. about a month later it happened again then about may it was happening once a week not even on long drives no more on my morning commute to work and a couple of times the check engine light came on not all the time. on june 5 at 22000 miles my cars controls came on this time though my abs light came on along with my parking break and check engine light. then my car in the middle of the downtime dallas on the highway my car just stops accelerating and slowly came to a complete stop and i barely made it to the side of the road! it was so scary. i turned my car off and back on all the lights were off except the check engine light i went to autozone and they gave me the codes it was reading. on my way home it did the same thing and it is just the scariest thing. i went to the dealership and they don't know why it's doing it and want me to pay over 600 just to find out not to even fix it just to see why! this is there issue not mine i feel like ima crash everytime i drive it. i even told them driving it i feel like my life is in danger and they pretty much said that's my issue now when i was sold the car the warranty was out and they didn't offer me a extended i don't know what to do! this needs to be a recall i've read online of others reporting this and they agree it is something that could potentially kill someone.

the passenger sensor in the airbag system is defective and gm is refusing to cover the cost saying it is not covered under the powertrain warranty. this will cause the airbag system on the passenger side to not deploy in the event of a crash. gm is saying it will cost $400 to fix which i think is ridiculous. the car has never had an accident and an airbag has never been deployed. i think safety systems such as airbags that have no means of wear and tear other than deployment should be mandated by the federal government to be covered under an extended warranty period of 10 years or 100,000 miles. airbags are a safety measure required by the federal government and therefore should be required to be of good workmanship and in good working order for a period much longer than 3 years. to charge the consumer $400 to fix something that should not fail is a disgrace. thank you for your time in reading my concern. i would appreciate a follow up to this inquiry.

in sept of 2013 after just a few months of owning the car i was rear-ended at a speed of 25-30 mph. the airbag didn't deploy and my head bounced from the steering wheel to the headrest where i suffered a severe concussion leaving me out of work for a month. also my radio console lights flash on at radom times, i experience the turbo lag crap the dealership gives as and excuse (especially after telling me during a service test drive that my car didn't have a turbo!) and after owning it for 1 month a part of the engine fan sheered off and destroyed my a/c unit leaving me with a $2500 bill to redo that. i can't wait for my settlement from the accident to get the hell out of this car. this is my first and last chevy ever!

driving and the stablitrack needs to be serviced comes on. nothing the dash controls works correctly. the speedometer goes from 0-the speed your are going and back down to 0 every thirty seconds. cruise will not work. rpm does the same. when driving there is a slight hesitation in speed each time. had to stop on the way home and it continued whether i turned vehicle off or not. went away the next day. took it to a certfied tech he ran the codes and nothing came back on the computer. this has happened two more times with no luck. please take the time to look into it.

while driving home noticed that the temp gauge was moving and then as i slowed in traffic the gauge went from cool to hot within seconds. warning came up on dash that ac was being powered off due to overheating and then suddenly it was gone and the ac came back on and the gauge dropped. within 10 minutes the same warning happened again but the temperature gauge did not move and the check engine light came on. ended up being the water pump which was covered under warranty.

while driving 45miles an hour the a/c shut off and the speed was replaced by an error that showed that the a/c was shutting down due to enginee levels. however the level was not high. the check enginee light came on. i took the car into the dealership however they are unable to pin point the problem or determine the code for the light. the vehicle will not pass inspection and therefore i am unable to drive the vehicle.

2011 chevy cruze after recall # 12213 for brake vacuum micro switch has been completed. the vehicle is displaying the exact same symptoms as before the recall work was done. under cold start up conditions (car sitting overt night) the brake petal is difficult to depress so brakes do not stop car easily. this is intermittent. i have discovered if you places the car in neutral while this is happening the brakes start working correctly. sounds like a design issue to me. the dealer wants to replace the part that the recalled micro switch goes into. this will include another switch. this part (#13457666) appears to be the valve that the micro switch opens and closes as needed to provide the needed vacuum. again, this seems related to the original issue.

this exact same thing has happened 2 times. while driving normally 'service esp' and 'service traction control' warnings come on along with the engine light and the 'stabilitrak' light. the engine remains running but does not supply power to the wheels resulting in a total loss of power to the car. the first time it happened, i took it to a certified chevy dealer who told me it was a battery issue and replaced the battery. didn't work. happened again within a week. this situation is very unsafe as the vehicle could be stuck powerless in the middle of a turn or a number of other dangerous situation. the car is not on gm's recall list for any of the ongoing recall issues.

the transmission does not engage from a stop to move and almost caused a collision. even on the highway the vehicle does not shift properly and hesitates and when it finally shifts it slams into gear. the mostly occurs from a stopped position and then during acceleration. the dealership said that is how it is designed and nothing is wrong. but the problem just keeps getting progressively worse. longer hesitations and harder shifting.

i had my car park in the front yard. it rain on that date until the next morning . when i got into my car i notice on the front passenger side up under the dashboard that it was soak and wet from the rain that we got. i didn't leave any windows down. the only way the water could of got in is through a leak in the lining around the windshield. i never had it replace before. i don't understand how a car that you don't hardly rive could get flooded. i keep it covered up. its just that 1 particular day i left it uncovered overnight and it get rain it. i know the lining or insulation should hold up longer than 4 yrs? that is i consider a defect.

on february 17th, 2012 i purchased a 2011 chevrolet cruze from a local dealership. unbeknownst to me by july of 2014 my car would be in two different dealerships on five separate occasions for transmission problems. march 7th, 2013 (32,512 miles); repair: checked for codes, no transmission code; vehicle re-programmed with updated software. september 30th, 2013 (36,623 miles); repair: transmission removed, found metal contaminating pistons, tcm failure, transmission reassembled. october 17th, 2013 (36,967 miles); repair: technician test drove with customer, verified concern. hesitation, hard downshift experienced shudder from stop. compared to a stock vehicle; same hesitation and hard downshift however does not exhibit acceleration bump from stop. vehicle repair (completed 7 days later on october 24th, 2013): failed tcm and valve body, verified on test drive. replaced tcm and valve body. january 23rd, 2014 (mileage unknown, was not provided with work order for this visit); dealership would not confirm problem after driving vehicle for only 15 miles. they were informed that the issue is random and not constant. no repairs performed on this visit. since being turned away by the original dealership on january 23rd, 2014 i recorded approximately 19 instances of my vehicle either hesitating, �chugging� when accelerating, �banging� itself into gear, almost stalling, and the vehicle actually �jumping� forward while my foot was on the break at stop lights. it was when i almost stalled within a 6 way intersection that i contacted another chevrolet dealership (july 10th, 2014) for a second opinion. within two days of leaving my vehicle at the dealership (july 24th, 2014) it was confirmed by the service manager that in fact the car was not driving properly. the vehicle is still at the dealership as of today (july 30th, 2014). this is not a vehicle i feel is safe or reliable.

front passenger air bag "off light" comes on intermittently on my 2011 cruze when an adult is sitting in the front passenger seat -- indicating the air bag system is off. i've taken it to my gm dealership twice and both times they say that everything checks out ok and there is nothing they can do. the car air bags have never been deployed. there is a flaw with this safety system and gm should step forward and come up with a fix.

when taking off sometimes it launches fine like a normal car! but 40% of the time it stalls out, than decides to go, which has cause me to almost be hit multiple times. since the first time it happened, its happening more often and shifting harder and harder. if this keeps up im gonna lose my transmission when i really need it pulling out into traffic. i bought a car to be reliable and safe to drive, now i am afraid to pull out into traffic because of the chance it may not go, as if its stuck in neutral. the gm diagnosis was it couldnt be re created and no codes so its performing fine! this is caused me to be scared for my life at times and makes me very nervous during driving now. tried to talk to gm corp about it and the sent me to gm diagnosis to know whats wrong but ive done this and they say nothing is wrong! anyone is welcome to take my car out for a drive to experience the fact that it is not operating right. please help figure out this problem. found many other stories like this on other cruze owners. we need to figure this out before its a recall issues and takes lives!

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

we have a loss of engine power at any speed and two errors come up, "service stabilitrack" and "service traction control" . engine loses power and cannot maintain speed especially dangerous when trying to maintain freeway speeds. also happens at low speeds, 10 to 25 mph. therefore it can happen at any speed. can reset by removing battery cable, but will happen again within a day or two. this issue started about 6 months ago. happens all the time now and is very dangerous. went on line and found blogs where other people are also having this same issue. they are the ones that suggested we take off the battery cable to reset. we checked all the fuses as one blog said and they are all ok. called chevy dealer and they had no recall and wanted 100 dollars to look at it and then decide if it fell under warranty. purchased car at 43,000 miles, currently at 73,000 miles. the issue used to happen from time to time now it happens all the time. there should be a recall for this issue. the dealership does not think it is covered by the warranty but will not say until we take it in to have it serviced. we might add we have a standard transmission as this may different than the automatic transmissions. trying to shift without any engine power is a process in terror on the freeway.
