dt*: the contact stated shortly after purchase it was discovered the dash panel gauges such as the tachometer and the speedometer were poorly lighted and made visibility limited. the vehicle was seen by a dealer. contrary to the manufacturer's design, the dealer rewired the dash panel lighting and bypassed the dash dimmer switch so the lighting illuminated at the brightest possible level. as a result, the dash panel lights could not be dimmed. updated 03/09/06

i was traveling east on interstate 80 between the ca/nv border and east reno. in two instances i encountered pavement that was grooved (in the direction of the road). i was initially traveling at about 65 mph. i was driving a new 2006 buick lucerne v-8 vin ig4he5y76u157759 with bridgestone turanza el 400 tires. when i drove on the grooved pavement, i almost lost control of the car because the front wheels wobbled so badly that it force the car to weave and it was difficult to hold the steering wheel steady. this happened in the area west of reno in the mountains and again in an area in reno where the pavement was also grooved. normally, this car is remarkably steady, so this was a totally unexpected and disconcerting incident. fortunately, when i slowed to 45 mph i was able to control the car better until i passed that section of pavement. *nm

dt*: the contact stated while driving 20mph or more, the front of the vehicle continuously pulls to the right side without warning. the vehicle was inspected by a dealer who performed several alignments, rotated the tires, and rebuilt the steering rack and pinion. afterwards, the front suspension problem persisted and the dealer was unable to determine the cause. the manufacturer was alerted.

instrument panel (speedometer, gas gauge, temp gauge tach) are not back lighted during daylight driving. when it is cloudy but not dark enough for the light sensor to turn on the night mode, it is difficult to see these instruments and when you have sunglasses on it is impossible. this is a driving hazard because you do not know how fast your are driving or the state of your fuel. this is the 2006 buick lucerne. *jb

purchased 2006 buick lucerne, june 24,2006 from scott buick, of pinellas park, fl. we drove it down the road 4 miles and turned back to return it to dealer . the steering was pulling to the right real bad. dealers service dept checked the mechanics of the steering and could find any reason for the pulling to the right. released it to us on june 26,and after a couple miles down the road we promptly returned again to the dealer. they looked for a gm bulletin regarding this problem this time, they serviced it according to the bulletin spec's, on the 28th. that did not correct the problem totally this makes 3 times it was in service for this problem. the steering problem still exist as of today july 22, 2006 this should be considered a safety problem with the auto. *nm

my 2006 buick lucerne cxs v8 drivers seat is offset to the right of the steering wheel. upon personal investigation it was discovered that the oem supplier of the drivers side airbag had a lot of problems passing deployment specifications so as a last resort buick (gm) decided to move the seat instead. this is very uncomfortable to drive and i really wonder how well the airbag will deploy in a side impact crash. i've contacted gm and the dealer and get the runaround and was even told by one of the dealers service men that all cars are designed like that! *nm

1. normal lane change from center lane to right lane at approx. 65 mph, maryland interstate 95 north mile marker 104.8 2. vehicle veered sharply right with no control of steering resulting in 4 spins and traveling backwards with brakes on possibly 200 ft. before striking an embankment resulting in severe damage to vehicle. no air bags deployed. there was no control of the vehicle during this incident. 3. is in a body shop waiting investigation and repair/replacement. *nm

dash instruments and gauges are not visible in daytime. run off road trying to see speedometer to set cruise control. dash lights are completely off in daylight, making it impossible to see dash instruments. contacted dealer and was told that there is nothing they can do. contacted gm and they tell me that it is a design flaw and it is not covered by warranty. i have found out that others have had same problem. it is on buick lucerne 2006, also understand 2007's have same problem. it is not on all cars as i understand it. it is dangerous to operate car. may cause to run off road or cross center and have wreck trying to figure out what speed car is going. needs to be fixed. *nm

vehicle had a severe vibration problem when delivered in april. a wheel alignment was performed at 125 miles. now, at 3750 miles the problem returned but much more pronounced. at 45 mph it felt like a flat tire or a wheel was loose. the dealer informed me that the two front tires were defective and had to be replaced. on my way home i experienced a slight vibration and noticed the car pulling to the right. i returned to the dealer and they swapped tires from right to left. how will this impact my vehicle when i next rotate my tires? the vibration problem still exists. i am fearful that this vehicle is unsafe and, once again, will return to my dealer for a solution. tires are continental p235-55r17 which the nhtsa site does not have as an option when filling out the "component" section of this report. *nm

experienced front end vibration on delivery. dealer did a wheel alignment but a slight vibration continued. eventually it increased and i took it to a independent for balancing and rotation but the problem persisted. the dealer analyzed it as "defective" tires on the front and replaced them. as i drove home the car pulled to the right. took it back to the dealer and they switched the left front to the right and the right front to the left and claimed that would fix the problem. the car began to shimmy and vibrate badly. returned to the dealer and they found my right front brake defective. as i left the dealer i noticed that there still is a vibration. tried for 10 days to have gm talk with the dealer but they continually told me they had not been able to reach them. because this car had the defective instrument panel that no one can see during daylight hours, front end and brake problems i deemed this buick lucerne unsafe and have sold it to a dealer. *jb

i purchased a new 2006 buick lucerne cxl, the dash board data showing the speedometer, odometer, etc., is lighted at night and inclement weather. on sunny days the lights go out, all the items mentioned are not visible. it creates a hazard since it is not possible to tell the speed. my husband got a speeding ticket for traveling at 9 mph above the posted limit. the potential for an accident is exacerbated because reading any of the data while driving is impossible. also the passenger's view of these items is obscured so that the ability to act as a co- pilot is eliminated. it seems to me that the device that turns these lights off could be modified to keep them lit. i entered a complaint the same week i purchased the car and nothing has been done, nor can i get any information from buick to indicate they are working on a solution. *nm

while entering a curve on the east -west connector in frankfort, ky, my wife lost control of our 2006 buick lucerne. the speed limit was 45 and she was going no more than 35-40. she was unable to steer the car and bring it under control. the right front part of our car hit a guardrail, she thought that she was able to bring it under control momentarily, then lost control again. the car spun around and hit the cement barrier, where the car stopped. damage was done to the right rear and the right rear wheel was completely severed from the vehicle. we had never had problems with the car before, although several days earlier, when i drove the car, i noticed several times that the car did not seem to respond immediately to my controls. the car has been serviced regularly and had approximately 18,000 miles. fortunately, my wife was not injured and no other vehicles were involved. we have approximately $10,000 in damages to the car. our primary concern is that the wheel was completely severed from the car. the tire is not flat, but the wheel separated at the hub (i think that is the correct term). since this is a new car (2006 was the first model), we wonder whether there may be some type of defect? we can't believe that the wheel would have been completely removed from the vehicle (intact) when she was never going more than 35-40 and, most likely, slower than that when she hit the cement barrier. if necessary, we can provide a copy of the accident report, a list of repairs to be made on the vehicle, and pictures that we took of the vehicle. please let us know if you need additional information. thank you for your consideration. *jb

after my 2006 buick lucerne cxs sits for awhile, 10-12 hours, i get a really bad vibration out of the car. it shakes the entire car as if it is going to fall apart. after 5-10 minutes of driving it smoothes out a bit but doesn't completely go away. mostly noticeable when its cold out. the dealer replaced the tires with the same brand and model, but the very next day, i had the same problem with the new tires. i have talked to the 2 dealers, buick customer support, bridgestone consumer line, a firestone corp. center, and buick again, all they can say is the tires were made that way and there is no defect. no one wants to stand up and take blame. now i own a new $42,000 vehicle that they say is normal to have this vibration within the first 5-10 minutes of driving, and never completely goes away. i also notice it when driving on curved roads at higher speeds, from time to time the car floats or suddenly turns slightly on its own when driving at speeds 50-60 mph. very unhappy, no customer service anywhere.*jb

i own a 2006 buick lucerne. the vehicle slows as if it is going to stall and cut off, it picks up speed on its own ,and when stopping the vehicle cuts off. it presents a safety hazard in that most of my traveling is done via the expressway. when the car slows down i am at the mercy of the driver behind me. if he is going too fast and tail gates then i am sure to be rear-ended. i have taken this car to the dealership five times,and they could not duplicate the problem. diagnostics showed nothing. service department manager drove vehicle while in shop for fifth time and experienced the problem. because diagnostics still doesn't recognize a problem he says they are having to call in an expert to determine the problem. the car has been in and out of shop since april 3, 2007, and each time the engineers from gm supposedly were in consultation with service department. this problem occurs randomly with no warning. help!*ak

i have a defective gas gauge which will move up and down while driving. at times when i fill up it will register 3/4 when in fact it is full. due to this failure i fill up every time i go more than 200 miles. to accomplish this i must keep a sheet and enter every time i fill up and must remember to turn the trip mileage back to zero each time. i have been in contact with gm since november of 2006 and all they say is "its a design change".car was purchased in june 2006 but i did not notice it till october 2006 because my wife had gone through major back surgery in may 2006 and i was too busy caring for her and run the house to notice the gas gauge.

i have had an ongoing issue with our inability to view the instrument panel at various times and in varying light conditions. this is a known issue with buick and i have contacted them many times over the last 24 months (or so) for a resolution. to date none is forthcoming, only promises of a future fix. this is a safety issue because it is distracting and can lead to driver inattention causing an accident. cannot determine vehicle speed at times. buick is aware of this serious safety defect.

i own an '06 buick lucerne cxs with defective motor mounts. these motor mounts are known to be defective and many bulletins have been posted, along with many known customers getting them replaced. i however have had bad luck getting my local buick dealership to replace them. the problem happens while taking off from a stop. the defective mounts cause the engine to vibrate and shake the car. this to me seems like a very dangerous issue to have to deal with and would like to get these mounts replaced as soon as possible.

the factory repair kit improved the daytime visibility of the message center but still not as bright as the gauges and needles. the center glass lens reflection of the steering wheel bathed by the sun from the windows still overwhelms the message display and when driver is wearing sunglasses is completely unreadable. this could lead to an accident while trying to read it.

the left-front chrome plated wheel on my 2006 buick lucerne had a stress crack develop over time. at some point in the past there must have been some impact because there was a slight flattening of the rim, but the day the rim failed i had no impact with any road hazard whatsoever; the low tire pressure indicator came on and i was losing air fast. once i could get in to have the wheel checked the hairline crack, inside the rim, was discovered. i purchased a new wheel through my buick dealer, and filed a claim with buick for some amount of compensation. in my opinion a wheel of this expense should not fail in this manner. my previous vehicle, another buick, was driven for 14 years and 427,000 miles, and i never had to replace a wheel. the wheels on my lucerne were produced in china ("china" is stamped inside the rim) and are of obvious poor material and quality - are they tested to meet d.o.t. standards? buick has denied my claim, based on the "age" of the wheel. i am not just concerned with the cost of the wheel, but also with the safety of these wheels. i drive 400-500 miles a week for work monday through thursday; i am concerned of losing a wheel at 65-70 m.p.h. have there been any other problems reported like this? i strongly feel this need to be checked into, especially now, with taxpayer-based loan money having gone to gm and with more on the way, gm needs to make sure they will stand by their products and more importantly, their loyal customers.

a puddle appeared in the driveway where the 2006 buick lucerne is parked. the puddle looked like power steering fluid and after getting under the car, a power steering leak was detected. i searched on the nhtsa website and found that there was a recall on the 2006 buick lucerne with a v8 engine which said that the power steering hose connectors were improperly installed which would cause a leak. i called buick about this and they said that my car was not part of this recall even though it meets the year, make, and model requirements and has the exact same problem the recall is for.

when driving in the rain my buick lucerne's exterior driver-side rear view mirror is useless due to the wash of water streaming across the driver's side window. it is impossible to see traffic in the left lane and in order to change lanes i must rely on the interior rear view mirror. this loss of visibility occurs whether or not there is a wind condition, but it is most dangerous on the highway at highway speeds with windshield wipers pushing water toward the driver side window. i have had a couple of near misses during daylight driving conditions.

i purchased a new 2006 buick lucerne cxl in 2006. i have numerous times experienced acceleration in my vehicle. i have taken it to a buick dealer and they drove it and say they didn't notice it. i have also talked to a gmc dealer in the last several years and asked it anyone else has had a vehicle that just speeds up on it's own. i am from a very small town in missouri and 3 other people have purchased the same buick lucerne as mine and one of them says he thinks his vehicle may have sped up before, but he thinks he may have let the cruise control on. the first time this vehicle did this to me was on my way to the lake of the ozarks. i come from a small town there is really no where that i can use the cruise control except on larger trips. we have a lot of hills and curves. going to the lake of the ozarks the speed limit is 70. i used the cruise control. i got behind a trailer that was going very slow and traffic was a little busy, so i applied the brakes and when traffic was clear i passed the trailer. i was going to resume the cruise control, but before i even touched the button, my car took off and i was at 93 miles an hour and i hit the brake and it would not stop. i then tapped the brakes several times quickly and it started to slow down. when i got the speed down to 55, i then applied my foot back to the gas pedal and when i did, the gas pedal was not down or stuck, but i could feel a little something in it. this is something you do not feel in it all the time. i tried to figure out what happened and told my husband about it and he said you must has hit something wrong. i said no i'm telling you it did it on it's own. i go to work at 4:00 am in the morning. where i live there is a lot of deer, so i do not drive fast for about 3 miles to work. one morning i was driving on a straight stretch and when i came to about the top of a little hill my car again did the same thing. it just takes off and it catches you off guard.

my 2006 lucerne with v-6 engine has 80,000 miles on it. recently it has developed a pronounced "bump} in the steering when i drive slowly in my driveway or in a parking lot. i have inspected the tie rods and other linkage under the car but see or feel nothing obviously amiss. my local tire store said this is characteristic of several gm cars he services. he said the problem is a worn plastic bushing in the steering column mechanism. also, the instrument panel gauges are virtually impossible to read in the daytime!

on 4 separate occasions my '06 buick lucerne (3.8 l)went into uncontrolable excelleration. on long road trips, with the cruise control engaged and doing approximately 70 mph, when i excelleratedhard, instead of returning to the cruise speed it seemed to lock into a passing gear. braking didn't stop it, putting it into did not slow the engine revs., however turning off the key and restarting after coasting a little while worked once or twice to stop the revs.. the other times i hit the brakes really hard and it disengaged the cruise and excelleration problem. fortunately there was no accident or damage, since i had room on the highway to do this. the buick dealer where i bought the car said they never heard of this before and could not duplicate when they tried. there was approximately 60,000 miles on the car when the last incident ocurred. ps turning off the cruise switch didn't help either.

while driving the car looses all engine power and will just roll and this continues for up to 2-10 seconds. you do have ps,pb and all electric items the engine just falls to a idle.then the engine races for a few seconds when it recovers. you have no idea this is happen until you fell the car is not powering. we owned the car since new in 06. this happen several time when the car was new now 2.5 years latter it is starting this again. buick has not been able to fix this issue. milage on car is 42,000.

since about 60,000 miles, the car it stalls out. it can stall going 70 mph down the interstate, stall at stop signs, stall pulling out of an intersection. last occurrence i was trying to cross a major highway when it stalled. i coasted across the highway and it restarted right away. if a car had been coming from either direction, we would have been hit. i have had 4 sensors replaced and nothing seems to fix this problem.

service air bag light came on. took vehicle to dealer. vehicle air bag module and connector replaced under warranty.service air bag light has come on and off several times over past few months. currently light is back on and continues to stay on. this recurring situation indicates a problem with the vehicle's air bag system that should qualify for a recall. the integrity of the air bag system is obviously in question and personal safety is being compromised.

this electrical problem began about the first of the year when the electric door locks started to cycle while driving. it has since migrated to turning off the cruise control and causing the headlights to flash off and on. the remote start will start the car but will shut down the motor after a few seconds. these problems continue during every operation. i have been informed by the dealer that it is a p140 code and will take about 3 to 4 hours to diagnose where the problem at $80.00 per hr. plus repair.

took my car into firestone and found out that the motor mounts are sagging. most cars only need the bolts on the mounts replace - the lucerne is the only one where you need to replace all the motor mounts because they don't have bolts in them. another few miles and i will have an engine sitting on the highway. i am extremely upset because my husband is already handicapped and we bought this vehicle to last for more than 150,00 miles before we had to sink that kind of money in it. i have had a second opinion and it is indeed a problem.

the right rear door is unable to be opened from either inside or outside. it remains that way since the dealer wants $320 to do the work. the left rear had the same problem but that was covered under warranty when the car was relatively new. this is a safety concern. obviously there are a lot of people with the same problem. why is this not covered by a recall? my wife's cousin had a lucerne with the same issues. she got rid of hers. as soon as we can afford another car we will be doing the same thing. and i guarantee it won't be a gm!!!!

my car's transmission did not come out of park at a large gas station. the car could not be moved buy any means. after several phone calls to various repair shops i was told that the brake interlock pin would not release. i was told that gm did not build an override into the shifter. after 1 plus hours of trying the pin finally released. by not putting the car in park i got the car to the dealership. they said that the part was superseded twice. the part failed three times before it was repaired. the car could have locked up in a more dangerous situation than mine.

the brakes when applying coming down hills make the front end shimmy and shake and it does not want to slow the vehicle down according to the brake pressure being applied. this is a very serious problem and i called the dealer here in butte, mt and they said she thinks this is the way it is. the problem has gotten somewhat worse as time and use of the brakes increase and it is becoming as major issue for us. we love the car but this needs to be looked at as soon as possible. the car has 45800 miles as of now. we purchased it new in 2006.

this has happened at least 4 times. we asked the buick dealer if there have been any complaints and they said no. it has happened the last 4 years and again today and it is kind of scary as it could be dangerous if we didn't put our foot on the brake firmly when it happens. what happens is if we are pulling into a parking place or our garage slowing to a stop the accelerator goes down on its own and if we did not put our foot on the brake it would take off on its own. it last only a few seconds maybe 5 or so and then it stops. we have checked the floor mat and this is not the problem.

the rear door locks on the 2006 buick lucerne have a fundamental design flaw. if the rear seat passenger pulls the door handle to open the door while the door is locked, and holds it in place when the power lock mechanism attempts to unlock the door, the mechanism binds internally making the door impossible to open. this has occurred 5 times on our lucerne over the past 4 years. the only way to open the door is remove the inner door panel. reach into the lock through the access holes and free up the mechanism. until the door is repaired the backseat passenger sitting next to the frozen door cannot get out. i can't believe that the engineering team at gm has not discovered a fix for this condition. this is very disappointing and dangerous.

the rear passenger doors of the car do not open. the automatic door locks have failed to work. the mechanism design has failed because the manual door lock releases do not work. it is impossible to exit (or enter) the car from the backseat. the rear doors on both sides of the car do not open. there has been no accident and there has never been any prior damage. since more than two people often ride in this vehicle, this is an extreme safety hazard because it is impossible to access the back seat of the car (especially in an emergency) unless reaching over the front seat from inside the car.

the warning light came on and stated service stabilitrac and then went off.two weeks later came on again, and went off.the car began to shake and vibrate as brakes were applied when stopping.about a month after that the traction control light came on and the car began applying the brakes at a speed of about 50 miles per hour and making a noise that was loud enough to hear as it sounded like the pressing of the brakes to the wheel hubs.my wife and daughter and i turned around went back home and parked the car and drove my truck to visit other family members that day.two weeks later i took the buick 2006 lucerne to have a gm certified mech put it on the diagnostic machine and the reported that nothing showed up as needing replaced.

vehicle is a 2006 buick lucerne cx with 40,000 miles. about 2 months ago it started to go dead without any warning. the first occurrence was jan 15, 2014 with my wife driving. the next shutdown on mar 4, 2014, occurred in rush hour traffic. there was an audible signal accompanied by a "service traction control" warning, followed immediately by a throttle control warning and complete engine shutdown. i was able to coast across 2 traffic lanes into a parking area with great difficulty while steering and braking without power assist. tried to restart the engine but got ?throttle disabled? message. after 2-4 minutes was able to restart with no warning light illuminated. the last shutdown was on march 10, 2014, on the interstate at 70 mph. i had disabled traction control earlier in hopes of avoiding another unexpected shutdown. after coasting off the interstate, i was able to restart normally after a few minutes. no warning lights appeared after the restart. two gm dealers checked the car on mar 11, 2014. the first was a chevrolet dealer, and after some diagnostic work they sent me to a buick dealer down the street. both dealers said there were no error messages and they could not repair. they said when it happens again to bring it back in immediately for diagnosis. the 3 shutdowns have been on cold mornings, temps less than 40 degrees. i believe in all three cases the warning ?watch for icy conditions? has appeared prior to failure. this is an extremely dangerous failure mode that leaves no tracks if there is an accident! my wife now refuses to drive the car, and i am very apprehensive about it.

2006 lucerne suddenly left city roadway for no apparent reason. lucerne collided with two telephone poles positioned next to each other. delta v of collision between 22 and 25 mph. pole to driver side frame impact with driver side front wheel pushed into driver floor board so floor pushed against brake pedal post collision. no airbag deployed. pdof was near straight ahead or 12 o'clock. driver belt spooled out allowing driver's head to significantly deform the upper steering wheel rim. driver belt cut a notch in the b-pillar trim exiting the d-ring hole. gm looked at this car in litigation and agreed that the driver was belted. driver suffered jaw fractures, rib fractures and lung injury. driver died of collision related injuries 6 months post collision. general motors may dispute whether the death was related to the airbag non-deployment, but it can not dispute the relationship of the jaw and rib fractures to the non-deployment. download of sdm showed no "events recovered". that appears to be consistent with the 2006 cobalt ignition recall issue. the key in the ignition after the accident has a string of keys and other items hanging down several inches from the key in the ignition, also seemingly consistent with the 2006 cobalt ignition recall issue. driver would have been protected from serious injury be a timely airbag deployment in this collision according to biomechanics retained by the driver's family in litigation against general motors. this complainant suspects that the ignition switch in the 2006 is similar to the 2006 cobalt ignition switch, but does not have definitive confirmation of that. complainant can send photographs of the damage to the lucerne and the lucerne bosch cdr crash data retrieval report by email or other means at your request.

when driving and accelerating, vehicle looses power. this is dangerous. this is an intermittent problem and no check engine light comes on. the speed does not play a part in this problem nor does the amount of gas in the fuel tank. the vehicle will loss power and have a big jerk and bang when accelerating out of a parked position. i have had the vehicle stall when turning onto a street and start back up. this morning in pulling out onto a busy street in my neighborhood,the car lost power, but regained power before i got hit. this is dangerous. i went to the dealership where i purchased and was told if there is no check engine light then no codes will be set to find the problem. so what do i do with this car? i know i have passed the lemon law. i have no warranty left. but my main concern is safety, not only myself but for others. just saying what if this morning my car had not regained power and that family in the car with their babies couldn't stop and hit me. i don't want to think that those babies could have been hurt because i have a car that has a mysterious problem. so morally what do i do, trade and let someone else deal with this problem? keep on paying on a vehicle, that i am concerned about driving? also, i was a service adviser for 12 years in a gm and chrysler dealership. i have an understanding of vehicles. please if you don't have a resolution, don't blow smoke at me. thank you for your time.

we were slowing to make a left turn when we lost all power we coasted to the curb and when i tried to start it there was a clicking as if it was a low battery. after a few minutes it started but ran rough but was able to get it home a few blocks away. had it towed to a dealer and they could not find the problem. a week later it happened two more times and was able to get to the dealer who could find no problem. we had no more problems for four months and then it happened again. we took it to the dealer for the fourth time and again they could not find anything. we have contacted g.m. customer svc. twice and buick customer svc. who have opened a case file [xxx]. and suggested we contact a buick dealer in oregon when we get home. we live in oregon and spend winters in calif. so now we must drive a 1000 miles not knowing when or if our car will suddenly die. information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

freeze plug failed (not due to freezing). dealer indicated not to drive vehicle. was necessary to tear out transmission to make repairs with a new type of replacement plug. dealer had car from wednesday noon to following tuesday evening. new type of seal cost $24.50 and the labor was $1,114.00. gateway buick in dallas, texas. indicated that if seal was not replaced i could loose all coolant and hot engine could cause steam that would hinder my vision and leave me stranded along the road. the next morning after repairs were completed the check engine light came on and vehicle would not shift out of low. had to return vehicle to dealer for additional repairs. seems to me that the original freeze plug was badly designed and that gm had to develop a new type of seal in order to prevent accidents and damage..

my 2006 buick lucerne engines stops randomly. as i am traveling down the road the engine suddenly cut off and there is a loss of all power steering and brakes. all electrical components blacks out and when it stops you can not crank it. after waiting different amounts of time you can crank it up and continues until the next mysterious outage . this is my wife car and i do not allow her to drive it. i do not take it on any winding roads. i went to the dealership where i purchased and was told if there is no check engine light then no codes will be set to find the problem. i have carried it to three other shops to no avail. one mechanical was driving it around town and it happen on a roundabout. he said he had to struggle with all his might to get though it before he could stop. i do not know what to do and hopefully nothing dreadful will happen, like gm cares.

reported this to dealer on 7/2/13 and was diagnosed as inside door lock assy at 58.97$, and 410$ plus tax to repair. went home banged on in side of door and was able to open until this week when problem reacurred and no amount of banging would open door. went on google and noted this to be prevelent with many owners. this can be fatal in an accident where the passenger cannot exit the vehicle. do we have to wait for a fatality before the gm acknowleges either a faulty design or faulity part,and repair without customer cost. please advise.

car died while driving it. lost power steering and brakes. had car towed to dealer. it was diagnosed as having a faulty ignition module. i was lucky i was not on a highway at high speed. given the company recalls on ignition parts on other nameplates, it is likely that the buicks are also seeing ignition problems and failures but gm has not issued a recall for this car platform. i hope that no one is seriously injured or killed before this defective part is recalled. i consider myself lucky.

i have filed a prior claim with you on the ignition control module failure. dealer replaced the entire module - gm subsequently issued recall for buicks, altho they are claiming the failure has to do with a slot/hole in a key. i had only the key and the lock fob on the key - i did not have lots of keys and other accessories linked to my key, nor did i hit a pothole or anything jarring. the car just died, no brakes, steering, unable to restart the car and i had to have it towed. i was fortunate that it was at a low speed and not 65 mph on a highway. this repair cost me $939 dollars. and i am not sure that the replacement part isn't a defective duplicate, an inventory shelf item that has the same defect as the part replaced. if gm is claiming it's only a key issue, then the drivers of these larger vehicles are all at risk, as well as other vehicles that might be involved in an accident with a car unable to be controlled. please don't let them get away with sweeping this issue under the rug. i don't want to be injured or cause a death because gm doesn't want to spend the money to replace defective modules.
