POWER TRAIN:MANUAL TRANSMISSION

i own a 2010 bmw.the cruise cont. has been changed for 2010 & in my opinion is a safety hazard.no failures-no accidents-yet. standard feature of 2010 bmw 3, 4, 1, series & perhaps all (manual transmissions) is the cruise control does not disengage when the clutch pedal is depressed. this is a new feature for the 2010 models. it has always disengaged by pressing the clutch or brake, and obviously by manually turning off. the result is if the cruise is on, and the driver downshifts for braking, when the clutch is released, the car shoots back to the pre-set speed. thus no engine braking occurs. this is not safe. if downshifting, driver needs to either touch the brake first to disengage the cruise, or manually turn it off. not sure why this is considered an improvement by bmw; it is a safety hazard. is there anything you can do to recall these cars for re-programming of the cruise control? model year not listed.

SERVICE BRAKES, ELECTRIC

buick enclave will roll back when on a hill. when i have the brakes on while on an incline and attempt to release the brake to hit the gas pedal and advance forward, the car does not stop. the vehicle will continue to roll back when on an incline (whether slight or drastic of an incline) if the brakes are not applied. this has caused a threat to my life and others several times. when i am stopped on an incline, i have to "punch the gas" in order to avoid hitting the car behind me. this type of applied advancement has caused the wheels to turn out or "burn rubber". i have brought this to the dealer's maintenance department attention. however, the issue was shrugged off. also, i have had other driver's test the vehicle and the same conclusion was drawn---driver's feel unsafe in the vehicle. i have gone up and down this same hill with various cars and have never felt this insecurity with other cars. i am taking my car in for a second consultation with the dealership.

2010 buick enclave. accelerator pedal causing potential accident hazard *gr the consumer stated while parked and sitting in the vehicle, his right shoe, which was resting on the accelerator became stuck tightly to the carpeting which runs along side the center of the console that extends under the dash panel. to disengage his shoe, the consumer had to reach down and physically pull his foot free. the consumer stated his shoes had velcro straps on them and he inadvertently rested his right foot against the carpeting on the console. as the strap did not cover about an inch and quarter of the exposed hook of velcro, his shoe became firmly attached to the carpeting. *jb

TIRES

purchased 2010 buick enclave june 26, 2010. this vehicle is equipped with michelin latitude tour tires which run $270 + per tire. at 9700 miles a rear tire went flat due to a puncture in the outside rim. at 9980 miles the other rear tire went flat (jan 5 2011). had to put the 100 mile spare tire on 2nd flat because these tires were out of stock in se michigan and expected delivery date was 1/21/2011. went to dealer (sellers in farmington hills) and they located 1 tire and replaced it on 1/6 with another michelin/ original tires. never had this happen to me before and didn't hit any pot holes etc. since i had purchased an insurance policy on tires and rims these were replaced free of charge. however, on the 2nd incident i believe because of the timing being so close to the first tire issue, sellers had to put something in the description to get the insurance to cover the tire. they asked me if it was ok to put in that i hit a pot hole which i agreed to however when i got the invoice it said i had hit a large pot hole. since this did not set well with me i went on line this weekend to find what others are saying or experiencing. there are alot of reports out there on the internet about this tire and its problems. i do not feel comfortable taking this car long distances. as far as any other tires going i will insist that they be replaced with any brand. i saw one case where the person lost control of the car in a blow out luckily he was ok. these tires do not do well on snow either. please investigate.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

the buttons on my universal remote system on my 2010 buick enclave are not illuminated with led lights, thus making them nearly impossible to locate in the dark, so that i can open or close my garage door. prior to 2010 the universal remote system vendor for general motors was www.homelink.com, and their control buttons were illuminated with led lights, which made them real easy to see. then in 2010/2011 general motors changed vendors to www.learcar2u.com/ program, and the three buttons on my universal remote system are no longer illuminated, making them not only extremely hard to find but i consider them a safety hazard. i'm so concerned, that i have discontinued using my universal remote system and gone back to my old garage door opener. general motors probably saved a few bucks on each universal remote system, but at the same time they created a real hazard. i surely would appreciate your investigating this hazardous short coming. thank you

STEERING

my 2010 buick enclave has now had the steering rack fail twice in it's first year. the steering pump has now failed. this starts off as a rub and then soon after begins to have grinding in the steering wheel. i have not let it progress and had it repaired immediately each time. the dealer told me the parts were redesigned yet less than 6 months after installing the new parts, it failed again. i was told by the mechanic that there was insufficient oil in the part and the redesign was to add more oil. clearly that has not worked. i was told if not promptly repaired, it would lead to loss of steering. i have already filed for repurchase of the vehicle under the lemon law in my state. the dealer also made statements about this being a known issue and that they are trying to get vehicles repaired as they come in and are trying to figure out why it's failing. additionally i visited the buick enclave forums and some other sites and have indeed found this to be a common problem. i don't have a working knowledge of auto mechanics but i'm very concerned about the possible loss of steering control and the inability of the dealer to fix my problem.

today, the enclave rolled backwards significantly while on a slight incline at freeway underpass stopped for red light. the vehicle traveled significant distance in reverse despite being in drive gear select when foot was taken off the gas to then push accelerator. took vehicle immediately to dealer and learned this is a well-known design flaw in the buick enclave, gmc acadia, chevrolet traverse. dealership said the design centered around improved mpg and trans does not include anti-rollback feature commonly found on most auto transmissions. looking online tonight, it's evident that 2010 and 2011 (maybe others in prior years) are affected and many, many complaints have been filed formally and informally all over the internet. nhtsa, pleas hold gm accountable for this known error. they are refusing to help consumers deal with this serious safety design flaw. does someone have to get hurt or killed prior to forcing them to fix this? note: be advised nhtsa your complaint website dropdown meno option box for selecting the failed component is malfunctioning - displays empty box. had to type arrow down and guess multiple times to finally enter "power train" in data entry field cause you cannot see it visible online when clicking the arrow down.

STEERING

went to turn left from a slow coast off of a two lane road into a parking lot with traffic coming from opposite direction. the steering got really tight and i needed maximum force from my arms to turn the wheel to get the car out of the way of an oncoming vehicle that had to quickly apply brakes to avoid hitting me. i had just got two new tires when the event occurred and spent the next 10 months with two more tires thinking the tire store had messed up the steering . they looked it over twice and couldn't find any issues. the steering became so the tightness was felt mostly getting into parking spaces at slow speeds. then, i almost hit a parked car the first week of june when turning left again from not being able to turn the wheel, so i took it to the dealer where they diagnosed a failed steering pump and a leak in the steering rack. gmc paid for the parts and i paid $700.00 for the labor.

Reported in: MANSFIELD TX || Crash: N || VIN #: 5GALRBED7AJ

STEERING

shortly after purchasing the vehicle from a dealership (used), the steering started to get very difficult when turning left or right at slow speeds. as this was a used vehicle, there was no warranty. the power steering fluid level was checked and was at the correct level and there were no noticeable leaks of fluid. when turning the vehicle into the driveway, into a parking spot, or turning from a stop sign (left or right), the steering will randomly almost lock up requiring additional force to complete the turn. we have been fortunate to date that this has not caused us to turn into oncoming traffic or run off the road into a ditch. this seems to be a serious problem with the buick enclave that gm has not yet saw fit to address. sadly there is a new power steering pump and rack & pinion assembly in the near future for my enclave that i feel should be covered by the manufacturer as a design flaw. with it affecting the basic functionality of the steering, this definitely is a safety issue! simple research on the web turns up multiple hits for people complaining of the exact same problems.

2010 buick enclave. consumer writes in regards to vehicle power steering problems. *smd the consumer stated the power steering began exhibiting problems when making smooth left or right turns. the problem was not continuous, only sporadic, but lately with increasing intervals. it appeared the power steering would lose power when making turns at low to minimal speed. at times, it would become impossible to turn, having lost power until the rpm's were increased. the consumer stated the dealer had the vehicle for two days, but were unable to detect any visible problems with the steering. the dealer was then advised to drain and flush the power steering fluid and re-test it. the line pressures and flush were completed, but they were unable to attach test components due to the location on the engine. they did agree, however, that they were able to detect the same problem with the steering during test drives, the consumer experienced. the dealer suggested replacing the power steering pump and the rack and pinion, but they could not guarantee it would solve the problem. on march 29, 2013, the steering locked up as the consumer was exiting a parking lot, attempting to turn left. the vehicle veered across the road, up onto the sidewalk, and continued in a left turn back onto the road before the steering released.

the steering wheel is so hard to steer when turning. i have almost had several accidents trying to turn or back up in the vehicle. i have contacted buick and read several reviews as well about the power steering issues. it is a safety hazard. i have to sit at lights sometimes for long periods of time due to me not being able to go into the on coming traffic because the steering is so bad it takes both hands to try to get it steered. sometime the vehicle just stalls as i am trying to steer.

STEERING

the steering wheel often but not always locks up when driving at low speeds and making sharp turns, for example at a stop sign or making a u turn at a traffic light. it does not matter whether a right or left turn is being made. it takes significant force to turn the wheel to "unstuck" the steering wheel and make the car go in the intended direction, and immediate brake force is often required to avoid hitting a curb or another car that expected me to complete the turn. i took the vehicle to a buick dealer this week and they supposedly isolated the problem to the steering pump (part 20954812) and steering gear (part 22902260), for a total of $2000 to repair. i believe this to be a safety concern because i have no confidence in my car's ability to go in the direction i intend.

STRUCTURE

the problem is water leaking from the base cover on passages side inside the cabin of the car. the base cover is just above the feet under the glove compartment; it fills with water and leak inside the car wetting the carpet; inside the cover, seats an electrical "blower motor or fan motor. " as i searched the internet i discovered that this is an on going problem on buick enclave since 2007. i have 2010 model with the same problem. it is common knowledge that water and electricity can ignite a fire or totally short circuit the car. what troubles me is that the manufacture had knowledge of said problem. since 2007 and failed to rectify the problem or recall the car. i have about 19,000 miles on this car and when i drive it water come out from this cover. in an attempt to meditate the damage i removed the base and saw it was full of water and have pictures of the water leaking down. please look into this before it causes and accident we speak about " transparent" yet know defeats in cars are not disclosed at the point of sale. the law should mandated that oral disclosure of all known defeats be disclosed this manufacturer defect must be corrected.

the car has had a whining noise in the steering for a long time. have been told lots of things about the sound and the reason behind the sound. about 3 months ago while making a u-turn at red light the car's steering lost its power steering momentarily. it become extremely difficult to complete the turn and made for a very difficult situation. oncoming cars were not as easy to avoid as the steering become almost impossible. at a local auto repair shop after the incident we were told that this was a very common incident with the buick enclave. we then called a local gm dealer and their service department, only to be told that there occasionally is air bubbles that happen in power steering systems and that the whining noise is okay. i asked if this was a common problem to be told that this is not common, even though i was told by a auto repair shop that it was a common problem. after dealing with this problem for the last 3 months and putting my small children and wife in the car, i am unable to do this any longer. it is not a safe situation, not even a little bit. my wife nearly wrecks into other cars pretty much anytime she tries to park the car in a store parking lot. after researching the internet, i am finding thousands upon thousands of other people with the same problem. i would like to believe that maybe it was just my car, but i don't think that every buick enclave should lose its power steering at 70000 miles. that is not good. do something please!

i purchased this car used with around 70,000 miles. i noticed after driving it for a short time after the purchase that the power steering shuts off when conducting low speed turns, nearly causing me to have a few wrecks. this is especially noticeable in parking lots that require precise steering. i have not noticed any issues driving around curves at highway speeds, only slow turns at 20 mph or less. the power steering fluid level is normal, and there are not any leaks that i could find. after getting a recall notice about the water pump shaft (notice 13079) and looking it up on-line, i saw that the power steering issue i have is very common, however there are not any recalls for that...yet, although there needs to be.

our car has noisy power steering wheel, hard to turn. went to dealer on 08/02/14 and was told that we need a new steering gear because of leaking and that will cost 2100. our car only has 68,000 miles on it!!!. this is manufacturer defective and it is not covered by factory warranty. this is not cheap car, gm should know this issue and still make car for sale with cheap materials. we have no choice but will have to pay since this can cost death. we will not buy any american car from now on, try to support amercian auto industry but really? i decided to search on google and found out lots of complaint regarding power steering wheel 2010. we need help to get these recall and fix it!!! before multiple accidents this may cause

SEAT BELTS

on july 28, 2014, traffic lights were out due to a storm at a busy intersection making it a 4-way stop. when my turn to proceed i started out going north and a vehicle heading west didn't realize the lights were out ran thru intersection hitting me on right front passenger side pushing my vehicle over 2 lanes. i would estimated she was doing at least 45 miles per hour. she didn't see me and i didn't see her because a truck was stopped blocking both of our views. i bounced off drivers door and ended up laying in passenger seat. i was unable to move and when another driver helped me up i noticed my seat belt had come undone and the air bags didn't deploy. i was injured on my left side and required medical attention. i was not able to drive my car due to damage caused by accident. i am still currently under doctors care and due to injuries i am unable to perform my household duties plus i am unable to walk. i also suffered neck and back injuries.

STEERING

i was experiencing rubbing and resistance when making turns at slow speeds. i was driving with 6 kids in my car and was turning left across a major street and the power steering failed as i entered oncoming traffic. i was able to get the car turned. got home and checked the steering fluid was empty. i refilled the steering fluid and it began leaking. took the car to my mechanic and they found that the rack and pinion needed to be replaced ($1,000) and there is a service bulletin about the boots getting wet from some steering fluid, but my vehicle the steering fluid leaked so badly that the steering fluid needed to be refilled daily. the steering components in this vehicle are faulty and creating very dangerous situations. after searching online there are many many complaints from customers on similar dangerous situations of them turning into oncoming traffic and the steering failing. it is only a matter of time before something tragic happens. my vehicle is a 2010 with 65,000. it should not have this sort of issue. it is no longer covered under manufacturer warranty.
