purchased a brand new 2008 buick enclave on may 10, 2007. subsequently, we noted that the "on/off" front passenger air bag light on the dash was inconsistent when my 5' 4", 115 lb. wife set in the front passenger seat. more often than not the light indicates that the air bag is off, but occasionally it shows that the system is on. we first talked with the salesman and he said this didn't sound right and i should bring the car in when it was showing the system was off while my wife was riding as a passenger. in august, we took the car to the dealer, bill kobach, in topeka, kansas with my wife setting in the seat and the light was indicating that the air bag was "off." the service manager said they were having some problems with the "on/off indicator light," but i should leave the car with them so that they could check the system. later, they called and said the system checked out okay and they had called detroit about it. they were told that the system was operating within the "parameters" set by the manufacturers for people of my wife's size. also, they said, these "parameters" were established by federal law. we find it inconceivable that we we paid $45,000 for a car with an air-bag safety system that was designed to protect both front and rear passengers, but yet it would not protect an adult of my wife's size when riding as a front-seat passenger. had we known this fact, we would not have purchased the vehicle at any price. safety is our biggest concern when buying a new vehicle. *jb. updated 01/09/08. *lj updated 12/12/07

purchased new 2008 buick enclave on may 24, 2007. we immediately noted the "on/off" front passenger air bag light on the dash was inconsistent when my 5' 7" 118 lb. wife sat in the front passenger seat. about 40% of the time the light indicates that the air bag is off, but sporadically it shows that the system is on. june 1st, on my first dealer visit with this vehicle, i reported this problem and was advised that this was possible and we should view a seat sensing video. after several phone calls and visits to my dealer, royal buick of tucson (who have been more than helpful and concerned) the service manager called buick and was told that we were the only one in the us having that problem and the buick district manager said the system checked out okay but my wife's build was not designed for that car. we were told that the system was operating within the "parameters" set by the manufacturers for people of my wife's size. also, they said, these "parameters" were established by federal law. fast forward to 9-25-07, the sensor manufacturer sent an engineer to tucson and spent 2 hours having my wife get in and out of the front seat to establish a more realistic database or algorithm for people her size. buick or the seat manufacturer sent another seat right from the assembly line to replace our seat for their analysis. as of today 9-27-07 this new seat has a failure mode of 60% in the last three days (15 seat entries and 9 times the airbag failed to arm) we paid $40,000 for a car with an air-bag safety system that was designed to protect both front and rear passengers, but yet it would not protect an adult of my wife's size when riding as a front-seat passenger. had we known this fact, we would not have purchased the vehicle at any price. safety is our biggest concern when buying a new vehicle. this complaint is the same as number 10202517 with a few added details. *jb

on aug 20 the truck in front of me with a hitch stopped; so did i. the car behind me and the car behind him didn't stop. i took the car to springmall auto body in springfield - $5500 worth of damage. one week after i picked it up, i was driving and the engine shut down. i got on onstar and they said the traction and abs control module failed. i took it back to springmall. because it's so new, they drove the car to where i bought it - rte 1 pontiac, gm and buick, woodridge va. upon receipt of the vehicle, the mechanic never asked for paperwork from the autobody shop who delivered it - they had no idea the extent of the damage. the mechanic said he needed to drive it home to see if it would do it again. the next day, they said they fixed it and told me to pick it up. one week later after a 2 hr ride to richmond - it petered out again and i had to dive for the breakdown lane. i brought it back to rte 1 buick and they said they would have to keep my car (which i am leasing) and apparently it was something else wrong. i asked them to immediately call springmall and get a fax of the accidnet and extent of damages - they were shocked. i said i didn't mind leaving it, but i wanted my miles refunded. they said no. the whole scene turned ugly and they told me to leave the shop. i have a pregnant daughter and a granddaughter who ride in that car a lot - why did they tell me it was fine to drive if it wasn't? the car just stops!! the head mechanic said the only thing he could do was put a black box on my car, which he did. that was over two months ago and the problem hasn't occurred yet. he said just becuase onstar said what it was, that may not be the problem. they told me to stay in the slow right lane and if it occurs, push the top of this plugged in black box and head for the breakdown lane. i never know when it will happen, and i am scared to death. please help me i have a new car that i can't drive; it may even take the lives of people i love.

POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

2008 buick enclave that has had transmission problems for 8 months (new car was picked up in august of 2007). after several service attempts to fix this problem, it still doesn't perform like it should. today when driving the car the engine was racing to over 4,000 rpm while driving down a 35 mph road -- thought the thing was going to blow up because it wouldn't shift into the next gear. also had water (from rain) on the inside of the car after it rained due to faulty rail connectors (not sealed) on top of car.

the front passenger airbag system on my '08 buick enclave cxl does not activate 100% of the time when the seat is occupied. i have taken it to the dealership where i purchased the car twice and was told there was nothing wrong. they told me that they had at least three other enclaves in the shop at the same time as mine with the same complaint and that nationwide, other enclaves owners were making the same complaint. they told me that if the passenger does not sit in a certain exact position, with their legs in a certain position, the system will not activate. this does not allow for any variables, such as height, weight and body shape. i find this to be a totally unacceptable and quite dangerous inherent design flaw on a new model of car.

my airbag sensor light came on and i immediately took it to the dealer. i was told the part was on order. after not hearing anything for 10 days i called and was told that the part would not be available for 5-6 weeks. i have a new vehicle without a properly functioning airbag and the only thing gm could do was give me a rental car. i am concerned because after researching this i discovered that this is not a problem with only my enclave but also with others. i also found that there was a similar problem in the acadia and there was a recall but nothing is being done by gm regarding the enclave. when i tried to contact the gm executive office i was told that there was nothing else they could do and i could either drive a rental car or drive my car without the airbag.

i slowed for a curve in a two lane country road. after the curve i pressed the accelerator to resume speed of approximately 45 miles per hour. the car engine raced loudly, the rpm gauge shot way up, and the car decelerated rather than accelerate. i again pressed the accelerator to speed up and the engine again raced but the car kept slowing. i became afraid that the engine was going to accelerate and engage the transmission and take off on me. i looked at the gearshift to be sure i was in "d" mode, and i was. i downshifted into low gear and limped home about 20 mi les per hour, but could not accelerate more than that without the engine racing. it scared me to the point that i am afraid to drive it, nor will i let any one else drive it until i know the problem has been completely resolved, and i have a clear understanding of what caused it. i am so thankful i was not driving on the freeway when this occurred. i called the dealer and told them to expect the car to be towed to their service dept first thing in the morning.

passenger front seat airbag does not work properly. 132 lbs, 5'8" female sitting in passenger seat gets intermittent "on" status for the airbag when car running. tends to be in the "off" mode about 80% of the time with this same person sitting in the seat. the first time this was addressed was in sept of 2007 during the test drive prior to purchase. at that time we contacted on-star while the same passenger described above was sitting in the seat and the sales rep was present. on-star rep could find no problem and suggested restarting the car. we did and the airbag went to the "on" position. about three months later (after purchase) the passenger airbag began to register in the "off" position most of the time. restarting the car did not always solve the problem. within the past month we have only seen the "on" light three times while the same passenger is in the seat. we took the car to the dealership 2 times and they said they could find nothing wrong and that the passenger must be too light and therefore it is unsafe for the airbag to be in the "on" position. it is our contention that there is in fact something wrong with the bag deployment system especially given the system would in fact be "on" sometimes. however gm was unwilling to provide passenger weight parameters so we could further investigate if the sensor is malfunctioning. in checking with nhtsa for national specifications we found it uses a 108 lbs 5'2' dummy to ensure deployment. as noted above we are talking about a person 24 lbs heavier and 6" taller than the minimum nhtsa specification. so there must be something wrong and gm does not seem willing to help us with this problem. this is very unsafe for the passenger. i am the primary driver. i am 120 lbs and 5'4". gm says the passenger must be too light an therefore it is unsafe to have an airbag. if this is the case then why is the driver side airbag designed for someone my size and weight. they can't have it both ways.

SEAT BELTS

2008 buick enclave cxl awd the seatbelt casement on both front seats in this suv are being damaged (cut into) by the belt moving out and back over the housing, causing the belt to occasionally catch and not retract into the b-pillar. this problem has been reported to the local dealer, as well as gm corporate offices, and neither will replace the worn out and catching parts, claiming that this is not going to be covered by warranty at this time. we have been told that this will be addressed in the future and in the meantime dealers are being told not to repair this problem. safety concerns lie in the fact that the seatbelt fails to retract occasionally and does not sit tight against the passenger and drivers chest.

safety problem with the power liftgate on 2008 buick enclave. when closing, it does not reverse at my shoulder height. a few days ago, it pushed me down to about to halfway point before it stopped (ouch!!!) later tried this a few times... in the first 6-12" of closing, the gate does not reverse, even with very firm hand pressure. further tests showed that it fails to reverse at even more that the 12" mark (i didn't measure). at about midway to closed, it reverses with just a light touch. according to owners manual: * "if the liftgate encounters an obstacle during a power open or close cycle, a warning chime will sound and the liftgate will automatically reverse direction to the full closed or open position."

campaign 08v41000 issued 8.6.08 indicates that remedy is only available in certain, mostly northern states. since i live in one of the other states it must be unsafe for me and my family to travel to one of the listed states. i realize the gm is trying to keep the cost down, but this recall as listed,does not make sense since i travel in the winter to the covered states.

2008 buick enclave - 8 months old - 3200 miles. for no reason whatsoever the car would not start and the ignition key would not release. triple a came and jumped the car - dealer said there is no problem with battery or alternator. however, edmonds.com there are any number of owners expressing this problem. this is a problem that needs to be addressed. i have owned cars for over 50 years and never had a problem like this.

approx. 380 miles, the service traction control & service stability track light came on. i took it to a buick dealer in my town & they did not find anything wrong. periodically this keeps happening & each time they cannot diagnose the problem. i was given a device that was plugged into the computer& set in the cup holder. if it happened again to push the button to record the code, which i did. it has been 3 weeks since i gave the device back & still no call to bring my car in. the last time it happened the car acted like it was not gripping the road & we felt a jolt when stopping or going forward from a stop. i am afraid it will cause more damage if not taken care of. i have 13,000 miles now & i bought my 2008 enclave in july 2007. it seems to be getting worse each time it happens. i have taken it to two different buick dealers to no avail. the car handles a little different while it is going on. i am afraid it could cause me to get into an accident.

new 2008 buick enclave, the battery went dead after not being driven for 6 days. buick told me i need to drive the car at lest every 3 days to prevent this. battery was jumped and car started fine. i can't live with a car that needs to be driven every 3 days.

2008 bought new in july 2008 has had two dead batteries. dealership can find nothing wrong. the gm acadia which is a "sister" car to my enclave, has a recall for the same problem. there are many owners on the enclave forum that seem to be having this dead electrical system problem.

i drove my 2008 buick enclave like normal to get kids from school. turned the car completely off while i was waiting for them. went to start it back up and nothing dead would not even turn over. tried several times even giving it a break in between and still nothing. called a tow company to tow to the dealer i use for servicing (plummer pontiac gmc and cadillac in lodi, ca.) and awaiting a call back to see what needs to be done to repair it. i have about 28k on it. i did know others were experiencing the same problem. thank god i wasn't in a dark area or stranded in a bad area. this is definitely a safety issue being stranded in a newer car is not what the consumer pays for with this vehicle costing well over 40k you would think you were purchasing reliability. not so much.

STEERING

i was driving on randall road traveling about 50 mph. i slowed to enter a right turn lane and the steering began to shudder when i moved the steering wheel. i braked aggressively and was able after much effort to maneuver the enclave into a parking space. i phoned my husband and upon arrival found that the steering wheel would not move with the engine running. he phoned the dealer and buick assistance. after 3 hours the car was loaded on a truck and taken to the dealer. the service person stated that the cooler line had developed a pin hole leak and lost fluid to the power steering system. i am still waiting since the steering pump was also damaged. no mention of replacing the rack and pinion (my husbands help with that term). i do not feel comfortable driving a car that the steering locks up if the power steering system fails. this could have been a fatal outcome under different circumstances because i could not steer the car. this is the third safety related problem since it was delivered december 31, 2007. the driver windshield wiper came loose (husband fixed) and the right rear strut weld failed leaking oil all over the garage floor and making the car feel loose driving it to the dealer for repairs. we have also noticed the passenger seat belt sign does not always work. i do not trust this car. the only bright spot is the dealership has been very responsive.

tl*the contact owns a 2008 buick enclave. the contact believed there was a design flaw with the easy exit seat function. when the key is placed in the ignition, both the seat and steering wheel are supposed to move to pre-determined positions, and then move back when the key is removed. the contact stated that the seat and steering wheel did not move back when the key was removed. for months, he attempted to have the dealer repair the vehicle, but his appointments kept getting pushed back. recently, the dealer stated that the issue could not be repaired because the vehicle was designed in that manner. the manufacturer agreed with the dealer. the current mileage was approximately 6,000 and failure mileage was approximately 500. updated 04-17-09 the drivers seat would move back when the key was removed from ignition. the steering column would also move up and forward. updated 04/20/09.*jb

i own a 2008 buick enclave and twice now in less than four months my air bag service light has come on. both times i have taken the car to the dealers and both times they have cleared the code and have not fixed the problem. they seem to lack the technical know how or willingness to fix this problem. according to the service advisor this is a common problem with this vehicle and i am surprised that gm is not taking this safety problem seriously.

my 2008 buick enclave consistently has water leaks after it rains. there is a lot of condensation build up in the vehicle and water in the cargo area. the vehicle has been brought to the dealership 3 times for this issue, but it has yet to be repaired after 3 unsuccessful attempts (even though the dealership says the problem has been fixed).

from the day of purchase my buick enclave has failed to achieve the rated the fuel efficiency (12 mpg initially upto 14mpg 18mos and numerous trips back to dealerships. basically computer checks and adjustments were done. finally, last month a valve job was done, as well as some transmission work and now my fuel efficiency is improving. i have driven 400 miles since this mechanic work and the mpg is approaching 17mpg.

buick enclave stops suddenly without warning on highway due to some sort of transmission failure. occupants in vehicle narrowly escape serious injury from possible rear end collision. onstar diagnosed problem as some sort of transmission related failure. vehicle was towed to buick service facility. gm technical support recommended that electronic codes be reset and vehicle is to be returned to customer. customer picked up vehicle and vehicle transmission failed again one hour later on same day. onstar diagnosed problem again, this time a similar but different problem relating to the automatic transmission system. vehicle is buick shop again waiting for gm solution to fixing problem. fix is unknown at this time. exact cause is unknown.

08 buick enclave normally downshifts and upshifts all the way up a hill. took in three times and they said everything checks out normal, just drive it. then driving out to arizona, it started out downshifting at the start of a hill and upshifting at the top of the hill like a normal car. then once every five to ten hills it would not upshift at the top of the hill until i shut off the cruise control. once i went five miles downhill before i shut off the cruise and it upshifted. i took it in to the dealer, but the few miles they drove it, they could not make it happen. they said there were no codes so there was nothing they could do, so just drive it like it is, as its still under warranty. it had also happened only once before when it was new,but they could not find anything either. i don't know if this is connected or not, but if i want to accelerate slowly,i have to push the gas pedal down farther and then back off quickly to not accelerate too fast. i sure hope they can come up with a fix for this problem.

my 2008 buick enclave became unable to control in the rain at 55 mph. took to dealer after 3 day run around was told that there was a bulletin on this vehicle that the steering position sensor became wet and started boosting steering control. they replaced sensor and inner fenders (to keep moisture off sensor) this vehicle was the most dangerous thing i have ever tried to control. how can anything stay dry under the hood of a car in the rain??

information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6) 2008 buick enclave vin [xxx] gm case #[xxx] has had electrical failure resulting since october 2008 in total vehicle being inoperable and once began smoking in the right side of fire wall when jump started. dealer has replaced all wire harnesses, bcm, 2 radio head units/navigation, all light bulbs, check for water intrusion, bpp sensor calibration, lgm bracket, checked for chaffed wire, replace both sun visors. vehicle was in the shop for 30 days in last 6 weeks and a total of 42 days since vehicle was purchased new with 61 miles on september 2, 2008. the vehicle would not start 45 minutes after being picked up from dealership last friday, 5-28-10, after being in shop for 2 weeks. contacted dealers service department at that time. no phone calls from dealership since, i stopped in at dealership on tuesday, 5-25-10 to ask for another service. dealer has not picked up vehicle and i spoke with the general manager of the dealership regarding a buy back or trade in this morning. gm customer service offered to pay 2 months car payments, detailing and an oil change at no charge. i told them i wanted this vehicle to be safe for my 22 month old, his friends that ride in this vehicle and my wife. gm told me that they will not consider a replacement vehicle, a gm engineer would not be sent out to make sure this vehicle was fixed properly and this was their final offer. i am concerned the vehicle will catch fire with my family in it. when the car looses power, none of the electronically controlled safety features operate as it is totally without power as if the battery was taken out of the car. this vehicle has been taken to the dealership on a flat bed tow truck on 2 occasions.

i was driving my enclave and i pulled into a parking lot i lost power steering. i called on star and they said it was not something they could diagnose. suggested i check the ps fluid...i did and it was just below the min line. i added fluid, it got better but i could still sense some problem. svc shop said there was a leak, needed to replace the rack and pinion. bringing to dealer next. i've seen several complaints/articles about pw pump problems, leaks. i have 60,200 miles. seems like this is a big safety issue (what if i lost ps on the highway), why isn't gm doing something about it?

within the last four months, i have noticed a vibrating noise as part of my steering. my major complaint is a very loud sharp whistling noise coming from my engine after driving it for a short time. the screeching, whistling continues while it is idling for long periods of time. i am concerned of what it is and also find it not acceptable to have to put up with the noise constantly, especially being only 2 yrs. 4 mo. old and less that 25,000 miles. obviously it is a defect by gm and they are responsible for fixing it asap as i'm not sure if the noise is all there is to it as far as safety. the technicians at the dealership worked on it, put in a new defibulator, took it back out and said they called gmc. according to the technician, gm said all enclaves make the same noise. i am irate as not one on the lot makes the noise nor do any other's that i know people drive. i did not pay close to $40,000 for a luxury vehicle that sounds like a 15 year old clunker in which again is embarrassing as well needs to be reckoned with before my next description may be a big safety issue too! .................. take care of your consumers gmc as integrity should be #1 in your company.

just bought my 2008 buick enclave used with 30,000mile on it last month. since that time i have experienced several dead batteries after driving the car most of the day. i had turned off the radio, air conditioning and un plugged any adapter in the outlets as precautions after the first episode but the problem continues. i browsed several forums that suggest this is a wide spread problem with this car as well as the gmc acadia. someone even said that gmc had a recall for the acadia that solved the problem, curious to know what that was. very frustrated that my $35,000 car has more problems than my 2003 van did upon selling it!!! anyone know what the end problem was with the acadia was so that i could guide my dealer in resolving the issue.

POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

this is an update to complaint 10280929 for a 2008 buick enclave awd after fuel efficiency reaching an all-time high of 17mpg combine hwy&city, within weeks it began dropping and settled between 14-15 mpg. water leaks that began dumping cup full of water on occupants last year fixed. more definite hesitation between gears continues, as well as momentary lapses in power relationship between pedal and engine. last month a whirring sound started that was associated with turning the car. the sound would rise during acceleration and fall during de-acceleration. break job took care of it (although i doubted the dealer's assessment) until yesterday. the whirring has returned, albeit intermittently. after 3 yrs i know that if a problem can't be replicated on test drive or show up as codes on a computer--the dealerships (and i have been to 3 over the years) will do nothing. my solution is to turn this pretty looking car in (3 weeks!) and turn my back on all gm cars after 30+ years of driving all sorts of them.

vehicle was making a right hand turn into a parking lot at approximately 15 mph when the steering wheel jerked to the right. the resulting jerking movement/feedback resulted in the operator under steering the vehicle and striking a large boulder on the shoulder of the parking lot entrance. the vehicle sustained moderate damage to the bumper, skirting and right front fender. this vehicle had it's power steering rack replaced less than 12 months prior for the same performance issue. in the summer of 2010 gm redesigned the power steering racks for all lambda platform vehicles (buick enclave, gmc acadia, saturn outlook, and chevy traverse) presumably as a result of complaints lodged by customers directly through dealers or general motors.

2008 buick enclave water pump failure. 48000 miles on vehicle. driving home on freeway at night looked down at temp gauge and saw it was on red. smoke was coming out of the back of the car as well as the hood area. i was afraid to pull over on the freeway since i was in dead cell phone zone and am female. i was an exit from home so i was able to make it home. as i approached my drive way the "check engine" light finally came on as well as "change oil soon" info flashed on the display, by this time car was smoking from under the hood as well as the under the car. called tow company next morning to tow to nearest gm dealer. waited to hear from them all day and nothing finally close to 5 pm the rep called and said i would get a rental on gm overnight until they can look at it. next day i was told water pump failed. section 5 page 27 of owners manual said motor oil would need to be changed after operating in overheated vehicle engine protection mode, asked dealer if they would be changing the oil since it was water pump failure that caused oil to breakdown and they said i would have to pay for it. this is no ok gm should change the oil as well as filter included in warranty repair. the water pump failure lead to having to run in overheated engine protection mode in the first place. local dealer just returned my call in to supervisor. they are now willing to change the oil and filter on them. water pump should not go out in a 2 year old vehicle! please help protect consumers. i wanted to buy american but this is the 5th time enclave has been towed to the dealer. one time is bad enough but 5 not acceptable.

i own a 2008 buick enclave with a factory installed sunroof. i have had the vehicle back to the dealer on several occasions for excessive leaks in from the sunroof. the water collects above the headliner and when the vehicle is moved, can drain down onto the driver causing a reaction to the unexpected event. in addition, i have had water leaking from the light fixtures both over the center console and from the rear seat roof light. in looking at the enclave owners website, this appears to be a highly common issue with the 2008 enclave. i was advised the last time by the dealer their is a design flaw with the a pillar that causes it to clog and not drain properly. this is not only an inconvenience, but also a potential fire hazard with water leaking into electrical components in the roof, console, and dashboard. buick has not accepted responsibility or acknowledged there is an issue with the drain condition. vehicle has been back to the dealer at least 3 times without resolution.

twice within a month, while traveling at 70mph, my vehicle suddenly and quickly slowed to approx 20mph all on its own, with traction control and engine warning lights turning on. vehicle would not accelerate and stayed at 20 mph. ability to steer and brake was hampered, but on both occasions i was lucky enough to be able to ease over to the shoulder without being hit or hitting anyone else. both times the car was taken to the dealer for repair, but because the dealer could not recreate the problem, the only remedy done was to clean the connections to the traction control module. it is sheer luck that no one was hit or injured.

power steering! issues with the power steering locking up while the car is in motion. major safety issue. it is the worst when turning into a parking spot, however when driving around a corner at normal speeds it is very hard to handle and changing lanes on the highway was also an issue. you can hear a roaring noise coming from the steering column.

the first problem that occurred was the engine overheated and the water pump had to be replaced. car was only 3 years old with 20,140 miles on it. since then the main problems have been with the sunroof leaking. this caused the blower motor to fail. the water leaks have happened at least 4 times. the drains keep clogging. there is no fix for this according to the dealer. not acceptable! they told me not to park under trees. are you kidding me? i've had sunroofs before and never had a problem. the recall for the drain extensions did nothing. eventually there will be other problems. who knows what else is getting wet where i can't see it. mold is inevitable. i have 3 kids and this is ridiculous. i didn't spend all this money for a piece of junk! i will never buy gm again if they don't do something. *kb

our 2008 buick enclave has leaked water on the passenger floor so many times i have lost count. i could raise fish in the vehicle. the first dealer could not find anything so we went to the next dealer with the passenger side soaked. they stated it was the windshield so we paid $300. to have it reseated. nope that didn't work. next they had the vehicle for 10 days stating the carpet was soaked, the padding underneath was soaked and they were bringing in a leak specialist. just 2 days after it left the service department and the first rain i am raising fish again and it smells.

without incident or cause, our 2008 enclave began leaking an excessive amount of water onto the passenger and driver's side floor boards. only by online searching have i found that these leaks are most likely coming from inadequate drain tubes or other component of the sunroof. our local gmc / chevrolet dealership has completely brushed us off and refused to honor extended warranty or even look at the vehicle in their service department. they have sent us to local autoglass companies and a local body shop, neither of which even slowed down the leaking. at this point, i just want to get rid of this vehicle. i have two young daughters, age 3 and 4, who will undoubtedly be exposed to mold and mildew in the ventilation system of this car. aside from this, there is no doubt that electrical problems and rust are bound to occur in the future. buick has completely failed this consumer.

once or twice a week my enclave continues to roll another 5-7 feet after being put in park and the key removed. the accident occurred when i was unloading groceries from the rear passenger door. the vehicle moved forward and ran over my foot. i have a 100,000 zero deductible warranty, as well as gm's powertrain warranty, but still zubor buick in taylor mi wanted to charge because they couldn't find a problem. since my injury, i took it to another dealer today, red holman in westland. they couldn't find a problem either. it looks exactly like the recall with the 2009 enclave nhtsa campaign #09v073000 (on some of these vehicles, the transmission shift cable adjustment clip may not be fully engaged. if the clip is not fully engaged, the shift lever and the actual position of the transmission gear may not match. with this condition, the drive could move the shifter to "park" and remove the ignition key, but the transmission gear may not be in "park".)

the air bag light keeps turning on i have brought it to the dealer on 4 different occasions . they fix the connectors but it keeps happening. . it is now the 5th time the previous time were as follows. july 29 08, nov 13 08, dec 13 10, april 25 12, this is a safety issue that should have a recall. the first 3 times it was fixed under warranty the last time i was charged for the fix.

driving the car yesterday and the speakers began to flicker on and off. suddenly they all went off and seem to no longer work. this seems to also effect my turn signals as no sounds are indicated when they're turned on, which seems to be a safety risk. looking online, this same issue seems to effect a number of buick enclaves. i'd like buick to fix this issue at their expense asap.

a terrible screeching noise led me to bring my car to the buick dealer for repair.... they replaced the steering gear, the steering pump, fluid, etc. with a cost to me of 1409.99. had i not heard the noise, i would have lost steering...... the car was just out of warranty.... far too early for this to have happened.

the passenger side airbag is off while an adult is sitting in the seat. does not reset after the adult adjusts their posture in the seat. based on my internet searches, this appears to be a problem that many owners have reported. if there is a crash, the passenger would not be protected because the airbag is off.

vehicle hit a stationary object, telephone pole, in the center of the front bumper. the vehicle was totaled by the insurance company. the issue are the air bags of which none activated. vehicle had a history of air bag recall and warning lights repair. vehicle was repaired by the dealer on 1/18/11 for the recall at 42,968 miles. previous repairs were at the dealer and not from the recall. my concern is there are additional air bag recalled vehicles on the road, which the owner felt the recall solved the problem. they may have an issue if involved in an accident as the repairs did not solve the problem on my car.

driving home from newark liberty airport on tuesday 1/8/2013 on highway ( rt 78 and rt 24 in new jersey ). hesitation in acceleration noted when pressing gas pedal . concern that i would be rear ended as car did not respond to acceleration attempts on a busy highway with a speed limit 65. took car to dealership on 1/9/2013- norman gale buick in cedar knolls new jersey and after evaluation i was told told i need a new transmission on my 5 year old car with low mileage at a cost of $4100. car warranty 5 years $100,000 miles expired 11/7/2012. i took the vehicle for a second estimate at my local service station,gulf station route 124 morristown nj. service manager , zee also confirmed that the transmission would need replacement but the transmission expert that he contracts with told him they will not touch this make and model .no reason provided to my husband . i have researched on the internet and have noted several other reports of transmission failures on this 2008 buick enclave with mileage under 70,000.

steering would click, grind & knock while driving, particularly when turning. we took our enclave to an independent shop where they found that the rack and pinion assembly had to be completely replaced. it was a safety concern, so we had the independent shop replace the rack and pinion assembly immediately. i've contacted gm as well as the local dealership several times regarding this issue. asking for reimbursement of repair costs since this is a design flaw by gm, not a consumer driving issue. i have 60k miles on my 2008 enclave and all maintenance has been kept up to date on this vehicle and we are the original owners. i was told that they would in no way reimburse me because one i took the vehicle to an independent shop not a dealership and two my bumper to bumper warranty is out and rack and pinion assembly is under bumper to bumper not the power train warranty which is available to us for the next year (approx). i told gm that there are several postings on the internet (including nhtsa.gov) regarding rack and pinion issues with the enclave. i was told that the internet was free and anyone could post on there. my response back was i personally know two enclave owners that this happened to and their repairs were covered by buick because their warranty hadn't expired. gm told me there is no recall to date. i find this to be disappointing as there obvious design flaw issues with the enclave. i am getting the run around and on my latest call with a supervisor at gm i was told that he would pass the information to his manager, but i probably wouldn't get a call back because they are more hr they don't handle customer issues. i was told to send a letter to gm via usps. the enclave is unsafe to drive as the steering can lock up at any time. i believe that this should be investigated more closely and as a result i believe a recall will be done.

an audible "sloshing" sound had been detected for some time but origin/exact location of sound not identified. when parking car after driving in thunderstorm all warning systems lights flashed, radio stopped, and radio and turn signals failed. car did restart after sitting for brief period of time and systems worked except for xm radio. took vehicle to buick dealer who diagnosed problem as leaking windshield, removed and reinserted fuse for xm radio, and referred to company who had replaced windshield several months before. windshield company determined windshield not leaking, but drained water from motor blower and blew out drainage tubes. one week later, water started to pour on to passenger floor mat. warning lights for all systems flashed and electrical system shut down and care would not restart for a few minutes (and could not connect to onstar). when car restarted, lights did work, but turn signal indicators inside car did not, nor did speedometer, power windows, passenger airbag, etc. had to drive 60 miles to dealership without these working. paid to have "foam seal" replaced to prevent rain from entering car (the presumed source of problem). they also claimed to have drained water from motor blower housing cleared tubing. on the way home from repair, water again poured from area of motor blower onto passenger floor mat, and once again, electrical systems not working. buick still does not know where water is coming from, [but believes that since electrical systems working fine...after sitting there for 24 hrs...everything is fine. obviously it is not. i have seen numerous similar complaints online dating as far back as 3 years. i will add that this follows 2 years of dealing with stabilitrak ...which is supposed to be a "safety" system but can be life threatening when the car suddenly reduces power in heavy traffic and/or no maintenance lane.

entering parking lot power steering failed. parked, returned to vehicle and it was working. since that time multiple failures have occurred without any warning. very dangerous, vehicle is out of warranty and dealer and independent mechanic states the pump and rack require replacing. there are a number of similar incident reported on the internet affecting 2008, 2009, 2010 enclaves. recognizing that gm is now owned by the federal government, i suspect that there is little motivation for this agency to investigate the issue, but many believe it has significant safety implications. i am not one to complain, but as an aeronautical engineer this has all the ear marks of a design flaw. reading the internet entries it appears that for $2k+ the pump and rack are replaced and then x miles down the road you are back to square one. don't know if this issue applies to the chevy traverse and gm acadia, but suspect the whole family is sick with this problem.

VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL

we brought this car from landers ford collierville in 19apr13 and i have had to get the brakes redone, and a valve with the air conditioner fixed. but we went to sunrise gmc on 28jun13 and they advised us that we need a brand new transmission in the car due to a crack in some part of the transmission. i haven't had the car that long and now it needs a new transmission. landers ford knew that car had transmission problems. gmc advised us that this is a problem that happens in the buick enclaves and the arcadias. so if you know that this car had these problems, then why haven't a recalled been done on the cars. we did research this past week and everyone complains about the transmission. we also called gmc and they advised me that since i brought the car from a ford dealership and not gmc that they can not replace the transmission. but they can give us 70/30 we pay 70 percent of the repairs which i can not afford. they advised us that the car came off the line in 2007 and that is why the car is 10 months out of warranty.

steering rack system had to be replaced due to steering issues while driving. when we took it in to the dealer we were told that it needed to be replaced as it wasn't safe to drive in that condition. we were told that the steering could fail or lockup.

steering locked up while turning at low speed, almost hit another car in the process. buick knows this is an issue on the enclave platform, still, no recall. if i did get into an accident and a fatality occurred, litigation would have been in order. is this what buick is waiting for? someone to get injured, this is a safety issue. the original sticker price for my 2008 buick enclave was north of $40,000, wow and they can't get something as simple as a steering rack and pump right? this needs to be a recall, i just had to pay $2800 to get this fixed, and not really sure if it will or will not happen again in the future. i just can't believe there is no recall for this, apparently buick does not care one bit about their customers and definitely does not want repeat business. i will tell everyone i know to avoid buick at every expense and never, never, never buy an enclave. i am also considering selling the enclave and buying something that is worth it and safe.

my two children and i were traveling on a highly elevated ramp between major highways in san antonio (281 and 1604) when my car no longer would move into a higher gear and suddenly stalled at its current speed. the engine roared, but the car would not go faster. the traffic behind me almost hit me, as i unexpectedly was not increasing speed as one would typically do entering a highway. it was extremely frightening to all three of us (especially my 9 year old) and required our exiting the highway immediately. the problem continued, and we immediately took the car into the dealership service center. the technician was able to determine the problem quickly, because it has been a frequent repair. the "wave plate" failure led to the failed transmission with additional engine problems. the bill exceeds $6000. both the near accident and cost have been highly stressful. we want gm to address this "wave plate /transmission" issue before more people almost get hurt. the forums for gm vehicles containing this part have dozens of complaints already.

after driving the car and parking, next day noticed leakage in carport under car. after a day or two noticed a bigger spot under car, checked spot out it looks like transmission fluid on the carport surface and on the underside of vehicle.

the steering rack & pump were replaced at 23,000 miles under warranty. now, at 70,000 miles, it needs to be replaced again ($1900 repair) for the same reason. the steering whines whenever the wheel is turned, and loses power at any time during low speed. serious safety concern for me and my family! others have had this same issue. needs to be recalled before someone gets killed.

after stopping at a stop sign my vehicle would not move... i shifted into neutral then back to drive and it went forward very slowly, then nothing. i coasted off the road (at a very busy intersection) and fortunately 2 policemen stopped to help me. they looked under the hood and could smell something burning. they called the buick dealer for a tow and when i went into the dealer they said they 'thought' it was probably the transmission, but wouldn't know the problem until the trans. was dropped. also that the warranty had expired in july! i was told, two days and $3100.00 later it was a wave plate problem. after searching online i found that this seems to be fairly common for this vehicle and other gm products. i bought this enclave used in jan./2010 with 41,000. miles. it supposedly had rave reviews, and now has terrible ones. that says a lot. no one should have to replace a transmission after 5 yrs., or 66,000 miles, especially in a high end model vehicle that costs this much!

loss of power steering. power steering pump was replaced at approx. 9000 miles for a failure then under gm warranty. car now has 62500 and dealer advises pump is bad again. will not cover replacement even though it has already been replaced once. this appears to be a known safety defect but gm is not issuing a recall and the replacement pumps are no better than the originals. thank you for your research on the issue and holding gm accountable for the safety issue that many are experiencing.

had warning in the dic. warning was service air bag. i had a bulletin that said vehicles may exhibit wear which could lead to corrosion in the connector terminal pins at the connection between the body main wiring harness and the front driver and passenger side impact air bag. brought vehicle in to bill walsh gm superstore and they found another defective part - they replaced passenger seat presence module at a cost to me of $400.00. wanting to know if there are others who have been sold a car that had defective air bags. i bought this vehicle new and it has never been in an accident, however the air bags became defective over time.

loss of power steering at low speeds. occurs when turning from stop signs/signals, turning into parking spaces, and other low speed driving. my 2008 enclave is at the dealership today for repairs. they say it may need not only a new power steering pump, but that the entire rack and pinion steering system may need replaced. the service dept. states that there is not enough pressure at low speeds for the power steering to kick in. this is extremely dangerous in intersections. almost traded it in last week to avoid all of the costly repairs, but can't find another vehicle that suits my needs as well as this one (i've owned it for 4 years, and am spoiled). however, this problem seems to be one that gm is fully aware of and should recall since it is obviously a common issue with this model year. although the car is almost paid off, i don't have $3500 laying around and am having to refinance the vehicle to pay for the high cost of repairs to the power steering system.

transmission failed while driving. driving home, stopped at a red light, when the light turned green the car wouldn't move. engine was on and would rev, transmission was in drive, but car didn't go. turned off car for a couple minutes, turned back on, car started. tried to drive home, but at about 20 mph all power to the wheels failed and we coasted to a stop. car had to be towed to dealer, $5000 repair bill, 10 months out of warranty. the worst part was that there was no warning about the failure. it was going fine, and then suddenly we had no power to the wheels. fortunately we were going slowly and no one was injured, but if this happened at freeway speeds it could be a major accident. in doing some searching, it seems that many people are having the exact same issue in cars built around 2h 2007. buick needs to address this before someone is injured or killed.

my wife, with 2 children in the car and one on the way, got stuck in a parking lot, unable to turn the steering wheel. she was pinned in and called me in tears to help. i drove down to the store to help her expecting something simple but found that i could barely turn the wheel. steering fluid was fine and i was able to muscle it into a space. the next day we went back to try and move the car and it seemed fine. i drove it home but when i tried to turn into my road i overshot the turn and found myself sideways across the rd. halfway passed the intersection! this is a dangerous vehicle! i have since been online and found many, many similar stories. the dealer that fixed this said that this effects other buick models as well and informed me that there is a class action suit filed over this problem. this is a $2200 repair and i've read that it just comes back for some people in another 20,000 miles! please look into this... its just a matter of time before someone gets hurt or killed.

i was driving home from work and slowed down to avoid an accident in front of me. when i accelerated, the car would not go faster than 40 mph. i pulled over to check vehicle and everything seemed fine. i restarted car and could not go faster than 20 mph. i went to local gm dealer and was told the transmission had failed. reverse, 3rd and 5th gears were gone. i limped the vehicle home and am now looking at $3-5000 worth of repairs on a high end, well maintained vehicle with only 112,000 miles. i am very upset with customer service at general motors and with the quality of this overpriced lemon!

while driving down the freeway at 70 mph the vehicle kicked out of gear. engine was still running. pulled to shoulder of freeway and coasted. once the vehicle slowed to approximately 50 mph it engaged back into gear. was able to drive between 55 and 60 at about 3000 rpm but transmission would not shift to higher or lower gears. took freeway exit and came to stop. upon turning onto adjacent road the vehicle only used 2 gears to reach a speed of 55 mph, shifting from a low gear to a high gear at 4000 rpm.

while accelerating from a stop through an intersection, the transmission failed and the vehicle coasted to a stop blocking traffic. after turning the key off and then starting the car, my wife was able to get the car to move at a crawl 15ft at a time. after doing this several times she was able to park the car safely off of the road. we had the vehicle towed to the gm dealership and they diagnosed the problem as a r, 3,5 wave plate failure. the dealership has recommended a new transmission at a cost of $4,400. after some research i have found this to be a common problem with the 6t75 transmission across the entire gm line of vehicles manufactured in late 2007. there is a service bulletin (09-07-30-012b) that addresses this, but no recalls yet.

a water leak caused by a backup in the drain tubes of my wife's 2008 enclave evidently caused an apparent computer system incident whereby i was locked in the vehicle and could not get out. the key was stuck in ignition (and could not be removed) and manual door locks would not unlock vehicle because there was some kind of safety interlock. evidently there was a short in the electrical system which disabled all methods of exiting or starting vehicle. for some reason the onstar system worked, but onstar had no clue as to how to assist or override the interlock feature. it was winter time, and my wife and our dog were also stranded in very cold weather outside the vehicle. luckily we were assisted by a stranger that used his jumper cables to get the car started. i am concerned that this could happen if the car were submerged or the computer system was somehow compromised it could cause a similar problem. filed problem with buick customer relationship via email but all they wanted to do was to replace the battery. as of this date (4/4/14) we still have the original battery, but they deny any knowledge of the problem. i have emails from buick and their service request number if you would like to verify my claim. i only recently became aware that i could file a complaint with nhtsa in this manner.

power steering failed out of no-where while turning at an intersection. barely missed side-swiping a police car. only had assist under high rpm's.(i am an adult and have had previous experience driving vehicles with no power steering, my teenage children would have not known what to do or how it feels to lose power steering, so i am thankful that this happened while i was driving the car and not them!) this was an extremely hazardous situation, and no recall? car was completely unsafe to drive. prior to this incident the vehicle made loud whirling noises when the steering wheel was being turned. dealership found steering rack-leaking from end seals, they flushed power steering system and power steering gear, pump, fluids replaced. $1987.49 to make the car safe to drive again.

a little after we purchased the vehicle in july 2009, the passenger airbag sensor light would malfunction and indicate that no passenger was sitting in seat even though they were. we moved the seat, we bounced in the seat and the sensor still did not detect passenger. we took the car to dealer several times and were told that there was nothing wrong. we took the car to dealer 04/16/2014 to have the sensor check and they have reprogrammed the sensor, however, this cost us $103.17. dealer service advised us that if the sensor malfunctions again, they would have to replace it, however we would have to pay for labor and part. i just came across this website and decided to file a complaint because upon looking in your complaint database, it seems that other enclave owners have experienced the same thing yet, gm has not recalled the car which is obviously a flaw in their electrical systems.

my husband, i, and our 3 young children were driving on i-94 at 70mph when our check engine light started flashing,the vehicle immediately starting shaking and riding extremely rough and the engine died. fortunately we were in the right lane, and there was a wide shoulder for us to pull onto. we had the car towed to a gm delearship, who ran diagnostics and found that there were cylinder misfires on cylinders 1,3 &5. they ran further diagnostics and found that a valve spring broke & dropped into the cylinder. the piston hit the valve, knocked a hole in the piston, and pieces of the valve went through the engine. this vehicle was purchased 5 yrs and 9 months ago (9 months out of the warranty), but only halfway through the 100,000 mile warranty. we were given a gm customer service contact name (lashawn) and number, but she will neither answer her phone, nor return our numerous messages! we purchased this vehicle brand new and have done all maintenance work on schedule, and have never had a problem with this "luxury" vehicle. we chose this vehicle for all of its safety features, as parents of 3 young children, safety is of our utmost concern. we certainly didn't feel safe 3 hours from home, traveling back from vacation, in the middle of wi completely stranded with a vehicle whose engine died within 5 seconds of the warning lights coming on. as inconvenient as it is that our vehicle is 3 hours from us, we are so thankful this didn't happen in downtown chicago, where a dead vehicle on i-94 could have easily turned into a fatal collision.

my husband, i, and our 3 young children were driving on i-94 at 70mph when our check engine light started flashing,the vehicle immediately starting shaking and riding extremely rough and the engine died. fortunately we were in the right lane, and there was a wide shoulder for us to pull onto. we had the car towed to a gm delearship, who ran diagnostics and found that there were cylinder misfires on cylinders 1,3 &5. they ran further diagnostics and found that a valve spring broke & dropped into the cylinder. the piston hit the valve, knocked a hole in the piston, and pieces of the valve went through the engine. this vehicle was purchased 5 yrs and 9 months ago (9 months out of the warranty), but only halfway through the 100,000 mile warranty. we were given a gm customer service contact name (lashawn) and number, but she will neither answer her phone, nor return our numerous messages! we purchased this vehicle brand new and have done all maintenance work on schedule, and have never had a problem with this "luxury" vehicle. we chose this vehicle for all of its safety features, as parents of 3 young children, safety is of our utmost concern. we certainly didn't feel safe 3 hours from home, traveling back from vacation, in the middle of wi completely stranded with a vehicle whose engine died within 5 seconds of the warning lights coming on. as inconvenient as it is that our vehicle is 3 hours from us, we are so thankful this didn't happen in downtown chicago, where a dead vehicle on i-94 could have easily turned into a fatal collision.

transmission has become defective on the vehicle, not sure of the extent because it is currently in the shop. stopped accelerating the cost so far to fix is $625 and that is just to have it taken out and looked at but i am sure it will increase once they find out that the problem is the same issue as a lot of other 2008 buick enclave owners have had. this is a manufacturer issue and needs to have a recall, why should the consumer have to pay for a crappy gm product.

about 3 weeks prior i noticed very subtle clunk when changing gears. than out of no were the car started slipping gears at around 40mph. the engine would rev high rpm but it wouldn't kick into 5th gear. only did the it once. within 1 day it slipped every time 5th gear was engaging, within 2 day of that 3rd gear was slipping every time. brought it to aamco and was informed of a r/3/5 wave plate clutch disc tsb with this model transmission. transmission needs a rebuilt to the tune of $2000-2500. pathetic that a $45k vehicle cant even make to 100k miles. who says china makes all the crap? gm must employee the chinese.

rack and pinion gone bad only 62,000 miles on my suv estimated cost $1200. how can this be happening on a $55,000 plus vehicle. also had to replace the water pump a year ago got stranded on highway. was out of quite a bit of money with towing back to illinois from ohio plus the cost of repairs. i'm at a point where i'm afraid to drive this vehicle out of state in fear of a major breakdown.

a small grommet failed allowing the sunroof drain located inside the roof to drain water to the interior front drivers side. the leak was not easily detected until a moldy smell developed inside the car, humidity issues, and the radio stopped working. the amplifier located near the leak shorted out and failed. (no fire luckily) after $1700 worth of damages and repairs were made by buick, this design defect was corrected at full cost to the owner. this water leak could have easily caused more problems and possibly even a electrical fire. other enclave owners with similar problems should form a class action suit. gm does not take responsibility for this obvious design flaw even though the buick enclave forums have numerous similar complaints. gm's response was to offer a $2500 credit on a new vehicle purchase. i certainly have no need to ever purchase another problem.

we lost our transmission entering onto a busy interstate! no indicator lights ever came on until it happened. we are not in the habit of beating our vehicles. we are a retired. this i feel is a defect in something. there were many cars coming behind us on the ramp. it was a 2 lane ramp that went to one lane. i got into the right lane when i noticed the problem that the car was jerking and would go intermittently. i sayed right until i could get to a pull over area. full lines of traffic behind us were having to slow down which it looked pretty scarey when i looked in the rear view mirror. my husband and i feel that the way we drive should not make us lose a transmission. also, when we purchased the vehicle we took it in for a steering squeek, loud, and were told nothing was wrong. it still squeeks and worse. we are having that looked at now, again! we do not trust the warning lights on this vehicle. we purchased it new.

(5/10/13 correction-replace leaking steering gear and failed p/s pump, fill system, bleed sys and verify operation). difficulty steering and loud popping noise while turning left (service date 4/18/14- found internal leak form power steering rack -replaced rack and bleed system and aligned vehicle. drove out of the the dealership and noticed a/c not working and same noise coming from the front while turning left. took it back in (5/5/14-found left front axle shaft to be popping needs to replace at owners expense. the dealership had the vehicle for 20+ days and did not fix. airbag warning light illuminated so i took the vehicle into the dealer (6/29/10--poor connection at sir harness--diagnosed and repaired. received a recall notice in the mail-took vehicle into the dealer (4/18/14--correction completed). airbag warning light illuminated again. took vehicle to the dealership (5/5/14-intermittent short in passenger presence module, checked an rechecked -- corrections needs from passenger presence module at customers expense i was called to picked vehicle up as is after 20+ days. dealership would not fix.

i purchased this car on january 20, 2008. i went to get my first oil change, and when i picked up the car and started to drive off every light in the car including the button for the door locks came on. i returned to the to the dealer where i got the oil change and they kept the car for 4 weeks.mind you this was a brand new car, a buick enclave, that i purchased out of the stock room on display. i was given a rental car for that period, picked up the car after four weeks, returned back with the same problems and a leak in the roof that i also had to repair. since that time it has been back and forth to the dealers. i changed dealers and took it to another dealer. they did a good job but time after time i was still having problems. i should not have had the problems after paying $47,000 for this car brand new. i feel i was given a bad deal, and they should have taken this car back because i am having problems to this day. i am smelling smoke like something is burning and i'm afraid to drive this car in fear for my and my daughter's life!! i've had valves changed, cylinder heads changed, seals, gaskets,, bolts,, ignition, coil replacement, ,lift-gate replacement, master cylinder replacement, , replaced steering gear. this car has been nothing but a problem to me. in spite of all this it's a very nice comfortable car, but i got a bad engine, and buick should have handled this differently instead of fixing it they should have given me a different car. when i park this car in the parking lot and i come back this car front window has no visibility and windows are frosted like something is still running in the car. since i purchased this car i have been in a rental more than this car. this is a second request was sent old odi number is 10605243 corrections done.

the "service air bag" light consistently comes on and the dealer states there is nothing to worry about as far as the functioning of the airbags when we were under the bumper to bumper warranty. but, now that i have 108k and still dealing with this issue, along with the recall notices for "some" 2008-2009 and all of 2010-2013 enclaves i requested the dealer take another look at the sensor issue. now, the dealer states that yes there is an issue with the air bag sensor and my air bags will not deploy properly in an accident but that the issue is not what is covered under the current warranty out for the enclaves based on my vin number. either the warranty should cover the cost of repair or the dealer should replace the part that should have been replaced under the bumper to bumper warranty.

while driving our 2008 buick enclave in a parking lot, i attempted to turn into a parking spot and when turning the steering wheel completely locked up on me and i was unable to finish the turn and almost ran into a car. luckily i was going slow enough that i was able to step on the brakes before i hit the car parked in the space next to the one i was trying to park in. after a few seconds the steering started working again. since then every time i am going at a slow rate of speed and make a sharp turn the steering goes out of the car. took it to a local auto repair shop and the diagnosed that the steering pump is faulty. this car only has 67,000 miles on it. as i researched on the internet i saw that this is a very common problem with this make and model of car. there needs to be a recall as the fix for this is over a $1000.00. for a vehicle that costs almost $50,000 brand new this is ridiculous. i should not be taking this car to the shop for steering problems at this low mileage.

was driving on interstate at 70 mph and as car was trying to climb a hill and transmission shifting gears, it slipped. happened a few times while on interstate. got to location and then went to leave again and backing up car was hesitating. pull forward then needed to go in reverse and car hesitated like someone pressing on and off gas. arrived back at home and took the vehicle in to transmission place (had already researced through weekend on problem and saw alot of problems with 2008 buick enclaves with wave plate (snap ring) going out on transmission. just received call and my buick is another one that has joined the rank of all those who have had this same problem. should not have to have transmission rebuilt/replaced at this stage of vehicle life. i am one year out of my warranty, but under the mileage, however, that doesn't matter! gm needs to do a recall on these transmissions! there is definitely a problem and in light of all the recent news on gm problems, i think we have found another problem that should have been recalled and wasn't.

about one month ago when i would get in my vehicle and attempt to back out of my driveway, the power steering wouldn't function for a few seconds. this happened about four times. this weekend on saturday i drove from my house to a gas station, was pulling up to a gas pump and lost my steering again for about 10 seconds. on sunday i was pulling out of a restaurant onto a busy road and lost my steering for fifteen seconds!! after bringing it to the dealer, being charged $50 and being told nothing was wrong, i called buick. this is a serious safety issue and you can clearly see online that more and more people are experiencing this same problem with the same make, model and year vehicle. recall this vehicle before someone is seriously injured!

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

three weeks ago i took my 2008 enclave to o'neal buick gmc to have the air bag recall completed as i had the airbag warning light illuminated in my dash along with the service airbag warning sign. i also noticed when i dropped my vehicle off that the passenger side airbag wasn't working regardless if anyone was sitting there our not even my husband who's 210 pouinds the light stayed off. after looking at the vehicle the technician came to me and advised that the passenger side airbag issue had nothing to do with the recall and that i would need to bring it back and leave it but that they were fixing the recall which had to do with them touching wires under my driver side seat. upon leaving the dealership i expected the passenger seat to be the same as they told me i would need to bring it back. however the airbag warning light and service airbag sign should have gone away and they both were still present. i questioned it and the tech said again it has nothing to do with the recall. upon driving home i noticed that i now had another issue a clicking noise coming from under my driver side seat which was nsot present before they did the work. i dropped my vehicle off to them again on 7/28/14 for the follow-up visit and advised the dealer that based on my paper work from gm the warnign lights i have are a result of the recall. i also alerted them to the clicking noise and they said we will look into it. to my surprise when i picked my vehicle up on 7/29/14 all lights were off and even the passenger side seat was working and of course no charge to me. however, as of today 7/30/14 i still have the clicking noise and it's worst. i hear it all over my front end and now even when i turn my steering wheel to the right. i think something went wrong electrically when they initially tried to do the recall. but it may not be them since someone else is having the same issue.

three weeks ago i took my 2008 enclave to o'neal buick gmc to have the air bag recall completed as i had the airbag warning light illuminated in my dash along with the service airbag warning sign. i also noticed when i dropped my vehicle off that the passenger side airbag wasn't working regardless if anyone was sitting there our not even my husband who's 210 pouinds the light stayed off. after looking at the vehicle the technician came to me and advised that the passenger side airbag issue had nothing to do with the recall and that i would need to bring it back and leave it but that they were fixing the recall which had to do with them touching wires under my driver side seat. upon leaving the dealership i expected the passenger seat to be the same as they told me i would need to bring it back. however the airbag warning light and service airbag sign should have gone away and they both were still present. i questioned it and the tech said again it has nothing to do with the recall. upon driving home i noticed that i now had another issue a clicking noise coming from under my driver side seat which was nsot present before they did the work. i dropped my vehicle off to them again on 7/28/14 for the follow-up visit and advised the dealer that based on my paper work from gm the warnign lights i have are a result of the recall. i also alerted them to the clicking noise and they said we will look into it. to my surprise when i picked my vehicle up on 7/29/14 all lights were off and even the passenger side seat was working and of course no charge to me. however, as of today 7/30/14 i still have the clicking noise and it's worst. i hear it all over my front end and now even when i turn my steering wheel to the right. i think something went wrong electrically when they initially tried to do the recall. but it may not be them since someone else is having the same issue.

while on an on-ramp to an interstate, my wife was merging into fast moving traffic. as she accelerated and merged into traffic, the vehicle lost the ability to accelerate causing the engine to rev and the vehicle to lose speed. not only was the surprise and shock of the event to include the very high revving alarming, but the vehicle was in an unsafe situation by failing to be able to maintain proper lane position in traffic. my wife managed to coast the vehicle onto the shoulder where she waited in an extremely unsafe position for help. it was found that the transmission was the cause of the issue which required expensive repairs. there was no warning prior to the malfunction and the event could have been much worse (i.e. crossing traffic, train tracks, etc...) at less than 70,000 miles, there shouldn't be spontaneous transmission problems which proved to be common with this vehicle.

after 66,000 miles of easy driving, our 2008 buick enclave has a broken wave plate and needs a new transmission! the transmission failure caused two separate dangerous driving situations, one of which could have been fatal. the first event occurred when stopped at an intersection to make a left turn. i had two children in the back seat. when the intersection cleared, i began to make the left turn, but the engine failed to accelerate and merely coasted into the lane of on-coming traffic. the left side of the vehicle and the 7-year-old child sitting there were left exposed to the threat of impact by fast-approaching traffic. after about 2 seconds, the engine accelerated and we were able to leave the intersection moments before on-coming traffic arrived. the second event occurred two days later. traveling 45-50 mph on a local highway, the engine slipped gears and would not shift out of first gear. the check engine light came on. we returned home at slow speed. in the driveway, we put the car in park, then in drive and reverse. it barely moved in either direction. the next day, we were able to drive it to the nearby dealership. it shifted gears on the way, but the warning light stayed on. the dealership informed us that the wave plate is broken and that the transmission must be replaced. we tried contacting gm customer service but received nothing more than a recorded message asking us to hold on the line. we held for over one hour and received no customer service. a review of many website postings reveals a widespread failure of the enclave wave plate and transmission, that gm is fully aware of it and has taken no steps to address it or to ensure of the safety of the thousands of enclave owners and other drivers on the road. failing any accountability by gm, we insist that nhtsa take action on this widespread safety hazard and issue a recall.

POWER TRAIN

my car has been maintained the whole time i've had it. i've had to have replaced the motor for the electric seat, the hinge mounts for the lift gate, the dvd player, and an oil leak fixed. now the 3/5/r wave plate has broken. what's up with the buick enclaves? they cost too much for all these items to break and need replacing. i could understand if the suv was abused and not maintained. if i wanted to have my car in the shop all the time, i would have bought a clunker. why doesn't gmc have a recall for some of these items, especially the transmission 3/5/r wave plate. it isn't safe when it goes out and you are on the road. i have grandchildren that i drive around in this suv. we could be killed. gmc needs to wake up before someone is killed in regards to this problem.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

car would loose complete power. the first three times it would take a jump off. so i thought it was time to but a battery. i went to get my battery tested first and the mechanic said that the battery was perfectly fine. i drove it to work the next day and it wouldn't start again. everything would work in the car but no fire was getting to the ignition. i had it towed to wiesner auto in huntsville texas and they found that the wires that goes from the starter to the ignition had shorted out. i ended up spending $204.00. this is something that don't just happen. i think this should be looked at. thank you for allowing me to voice my opinion.

since i bought my truck i heard a weird noise from the steering wheel i thought well maybe because im not used to it because before i was driving an nissan x-terra 2002. so im a women don't know anything about cars so i said it looks good it was from only one owner before so i think we are good. plus i thought it's not like i'm paying $5,000 for a truck and it's a buick it's consider luxure so i didn't think i was making a bad choice. well the noise it's getting worse i barely made it to my house yesterday because the steering wheel didn't want to work anymore it was raining so hard im 9 months pregnant i made that investment doing a huge sacrifice so me and my child could be protected, feel confident that at the end of the day we are in good hands in that truck. also when i bought this truck a month later the air bag service light was on i did a research it said that this truck had a recall for that so i took it to the buick and they fix it. and now the engine light turns on every now and then. i mean i'm doing everything i should for this vehicle i change oil regulary and i pay for the synthetic oil because they said it was better for this type of brand cars that are luxure for our middle class people. and it's not like i travel in that vehicle i only use it to go to work, groceries, family and friends house honestly i don't use it to travel where i live is a small town so it's not like i have this truck all over the place if you see it's like new it's the cxl it has 2 sunroof, leather seats, dvd player i mean im in love with this truck but c'mon that's not safe for me and my baby.
