2017 Mercedes G550 Increased Braking Effort

Daimler will be contacting the owners of certain 2017 Mercedes-Benz G550 & G550 4x4 Squared vehicles for a problem affecting the braking system. According to the defect report, the vacuum hose for the brake booster may have been manufactured with a defect that may result in delamination of the internal layers. Delamination of the hose will reduce the vacuum supply to the brake booster, increase the braking effort needed to stop the vehicle and illuminate the brake control warning lamp.

Owners receiving notices will be asked to return to their dealers to have the vacuum hose replaced. Because parts are not currently available interim letters will be sent in January and a second letter when parts become available.
