2018 Jeep Cherokee and Compass Engine Stall

A small number of 2018 Jeep Cherokee and 2018 Jeep Compass owners will be contacted by Chrysler regarding a problem affecting their SUVs oil pump.

According to the defect report, certain vehicles equipped with 2.4L engines may have been built with a cracked oil pump housing. The crack could propagate through the housing an cause the oil pump to fail and the engine to stall. Drivers may notice their engine running non-optimally just prior to a loss of engine power.

Those receiving notices will be asked to return to their dealerships to have the oil pump inspected and replaced as necessary. Interim notices will be mailed out in December and a second notice will be sent when parts become available.
