A software problem affecting certain 2017-2018 Audi A3 Cabriolet and A3 Sedan vehicles could have drivers experiencing unexpected stalling. According to the NHTSA recall report, the vehicles affected have been built with data packet software from ECU R4 TFSI 2.0 EA888G3.

According to the recall report, an incorrect air to fuel mixture could result in the dual mass flywheel rotation to be mistaken as a “knocking” condition. Drivers will experience stalling during acceleration followed by a “Engine Stop While Driving” warning. Audi will notify owners to take their vehicle to their dealer to have the ECU software reprogrammed.
