Failing Alternators For Chrysler - Dodge - Jeep

Chrysler is recalling certain Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep vehicles equipped with 3.6L engines and a 160 amp alternator. The vehicles affected by this problem include:

2014 Chrysler 300
2014 Dodge Challenger
2014 Dodge Charger
2014 Dodge Durango
2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee

According to the defect report, diode failure within the alternator could result in rapid failure of the alternator with no warning. In some cases drivers may notice an illuminated battery saver mode light on the vehicle information center.

The problem could result in a vehicle shutdown and/or a fire.
